i am having a gr8 problem.
i save my contacts phone no with name. but when the caller calls name doesnt appear sometimes. i have been having this probem from the very begining.
i saved the nos without country code and when calls in, i can see the caller's name. but cant see d name of the same caller if s/he sends me text. this is very strange problem.
Again if i save the no with country code, i can see the caller name who sends texts but caller's name doesnt appear if calls.
For this reason i have to save the same no 2 times. one to appear caller name when calls and another one to appear the caller name when sens text.
This a strange problem. wanting some help....

It's done to save power but it's still easy to tell when you have a missed message.
Make sure that "breathing" is set to on in the navi wheel settings. Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Navi Wheel.
When the phone is just in standby mode it will slowly flash once every six seconds. If you have a missed message it will quickly flash twice instead.
You may not have noticed it doing this.
You can turn the automatic keylock off here:
Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Security > Phone and Sim Card > Keypad autolock period.
Set it to none or a longer amount of time.

Hi,
I just bought a Nokia 301 dual sim phone. I'm satisfied with it except one thing - IT DOESN"T HAVE MISSED CALLS/MESSAGES NOTIFICATION. How come such important and basic function not implemented? No one will check his phone regularly and there is no way to know wether I have missed calls or messages. It should keep making a beep until I read it. I believe this function could be implemented easily in software, even by polling the status at a constant interval or setting up a counter which issues interrupts. Any Nokia staff can answer this questtion?

This is a feature which the majority of phone users do not want, and that's why Nokia phones have not done it since the early 2000s when Nokia phones used to beep the morse code for SMS.
There are two primary reasons why a person might not read a message at the time it comes in:
He didn't hear it, maybe he was in a noisy place and didn't hear or maybe the phone is in a different room.
He heard it but was prevented from reacting by other circumstances.
If you are away from your phone, there are visual cues when you get back to it that a message has come in. If you are walking down a busy street with your phone in your pocket, there is also in the vast majority of phones a vibrate option to give an alternative kind of notification. If you are driving a car responsibly on a journey of some length, it would becoming annoying after a while if your phone was beeping in your briefcase in the back of the car, or if you leave your phone on your desk at the office whilst you are elsewhere, the repeated beeping could be just as annoying to other people.

How do I stop incoming message notifications interrupting a phone call

I appreciate this issue has been posted many times in the past, but it appears Apple have not addressed it with subsequent OS updates:
When I'm speaking to someone on the phone an incoming message notification sound interrupts the conversation and I can't hear them. I can't find a way of turning off sounds whilst in a call?
Please don't suggest I: turn on airplane mode, turn on do not disturb, put the phone on mute etc. etc, these are modern times and these solutions should not even be considered.
Please help if you can.

I COMPLETELY get where you are coming from. I don't understand why there is not a function in settings that is an on/off switch labelled, "mute when phone is in call". seems pretty basic. I can't remember how many times i have had to ask someone repeat what they just said due to getting a notification for either another text message, or an email, or any number of audible notifications I have gotten while in a call with someone. I then have to reach up and manually switch my iphone to mute, which I notoriously forget to switch back on after the call is over. I feel you man, totally.

No messaging notifications or caller id on Lumia 9...

As of a couple of days ago, I haven't been receiving messaging notifications.
I still recieve the message, they just don't show up on the live tile, the lock screen or make a sound.
It's getting very frustrating.
Also, whenever I recieve a call, I don't get their caller ID. It just shows a number even though I definitely have them on my contacts.
I'm using a Lumia 920

Hi, I'm in New Zealand and have a similar (and almost contradictory) problem.
When I first got my Lumia 920 I had my contacts loaded in the form 027 1234567 (where 027 is a mobile prefix in New Zealand).
Then I started to get texts and they arrived in the format +64271234567 (+64 is the country code for New Zealand), so no callerID for text messages was working.
I figured the phone needed an international format for phone numbers so I went through all my contacts and added the +64 country code and removed the leading 0 for the area code. That sorted all the text messages, they correctly get linked to contacts. Sorted, I thought.
But then I started receiving calls and they came through in the format 0271234567, so now no callerID works for calls.
The phone seems to want both formats, and we apparently need to double up all our phone numbers (country code included and excluded), since this applies to both landlines and mobiles.
Is there any way around this? Is this a known bug that's being worked on or a 'feature'?

Yes this is fairly normal. When you have wifi on the phone, it drains the battery life of the device.

How to turn on the message notification?

the message notification on my nokia 5230 is turned off and i dont know how to turn it on... i always have to check my inbox to see if i have any new messages

I'm having the same problem, my profile has an alert tone set, but still fails to notify me when I recieve a text message. Call alerts are still working. I have tried other profiles and they do not work either.
I suspect my device may be damaged, since this started happening shortly after I drove into a tree with it in my pocket...
If it's a software problem, will resetting to factory settings solve it?

Call Minder Notifications never arrive on Orange M...

Call Minder notifications of waiting messages on the home phone fail to arrive on my Orange Mobile phone. Orange claim it is a BT problem . When I redirect my notifications to another mobile carrier the notifications arrive almost immediately. Have others experienced this problem and found a solution other than moving mobile carrier.

I have heard of this before and from memory it is due to Oranges network working in a different way that makes it incompatible with BT

Text messaging notifications won't sound after update

So I updated today to what I am assuming is the 4.3. And ever since that, my text message notification sounds won't play. Yes, my phone's sound is on. When I receive a text, the phone will vibrate but not play my notification tone.
My other tones work fine (email and phone calls).
Any suggestions for what to do?

My volumes were not turned down. Verified that. I ended up calling VZ and they got Samsung on the line and they said that this is a known bug with the latest update. Along with possibly breaking WiFi, horrible battery life, or even preventing the phone from powering on. What they said I needed to do was a factory reset on the phone. Once I did that, everything worked again. Samsung also said to not install any updates until they push 4.4 Kit Kat.

Messaging Notifications

My message notifications used to appear on my blank screen if I had my iPad cover shut. Now I have to press the button to see if I have a notification for a message as it only appears on the screen saver. This only started happening when I upgraded the operating system to iOS6. Was this a change? Does anyone else notice this?

Nokia N97 - No Text Message Notification and a Few...

I love my nokia n97, but i'm rapidly falling out of love with it, i have owned it since the end of august and this is the first time i have really hit a major problem with it.
The main problem being is, that the phone no longer gives me a text message notification or noise in that it being on the home screen it does say "1 new message" and i have to constantly have my inbox open to see when i have a new message and constantly check it all the time, for a person who is texting constantly this is probably one of the most annoying problems. If it makes any odds its using the mass memory.
I called the support line and have tried the following:
- Upgraded the firmware (no effect)
- Hard reset the phone (without the backed up data on it, the text message notification works, after placing data back on it, problem comes along again)
- Cleared cache (no different)
- Hard reset the phone and restored data on phone without the settings (this has worked for a while, less than a day, and is now playing up again)
Along with a few other problems that have started which i am confused whether it is the actual application or my phone that is the issue with this:
Facebook - No longer works proberly, freezes regulary, excessively slow at loading any content up.
AccuWeather - Can never find my location through gps and sometimes unable to load data for a pre-set location.
-At points through the day i do get error messages too that don't really make much sense, "cannot retrieve data" "error" and "internal error, reset phone"
Also when hard resetting the phone the second time round, originally built in applications disappeared so i had to re-download them through Ovi Store again.
Other problems include phone basically freezing regulary mainly on startup, and start up time being long before it lets me push a button, and loading content for the homescreen, the 3 widgets and the speed-dail take excessively longer than they use tooo.
My phone is suppose to be getting 'repaired' within 48 hours, is this true? I got told by a friend that his took 2 weeks+.
Or a replacement and how does this work and who is responsible for giving me a replacement. (Nokia, t-mobile, mobilephonesdirect?)
Could all these problems be linked back to a faulty sim card?
What on earth has happened to my phone, is this fixable, isit a software bug that cannot be sorted, why has this happened, why now, i have never run into any problems before?
Is there something in the data, i can't think of anything, if so what?
This problem started totally randomly?
Isit somesort of weird memory issue?
If i was to get a new phone, will i not run into the same problem again, what happens if i do? Do they keep replacing it or fixing it all the time?

N97 is going back in again today for them to confirm it is un-repairable and then they are going to send me out a new one.
The guy said it was a software issue which was caused by t-mobile putting their own software on the phone, which is absolutely stupid, if operator's software is going to cause a phone to malfunction, then don't let it on!!!

CUC 8.5 message notification outdial

I've setup message notification to my cellular device for my user extension. The default outdials and transfers were changed to allow a 9 plus the 11 digit number. DTMF relay is turned on for the CCM dial peer on the h323 gateway.
When a message is left, unity dials my cellular phone, but when i'm prompted to enter my pin it ignores the dtmf. I think I've confirmed the dtmf is there through an asn1 debug:

      signalType "A"
      duration 100
Has anyone else run into this? Not sure what the problem might be. Codec for CUC is set to mulaw and the dial-peer to CCM has mulaw as its preference.

Customer adds ES60 to existing CUC 8.5.1 and then phone notification for new voicemail breaks. It calls the site, person answers, gets the notification conversation, enters pin per conversation request, times out, CUC either requests the pin again or says DISCONNECTED and hangs up.
This issue is there on other CUC version also.

X6 - no visual message notification

Hi!
Is it right that there is no visual message notification except the menu button blinking? The display stays dark? And I just can be notified per ring tone or vibration? Is there any solution for this problem? Because I turn the ring tones off at work and with this stupid kind of "notification" I never see when getting an new message!!!!
Hope somebody can help me or there will be a software update soon... :-)

the display does go black and the notification light will blink until you read the message,when the message comes through 1st the screen will light up but goes out

Just have a very small problem but it's really bugging me as I have not done anything new to the phone ....
The notification on the main screen to tell you if you have new messages is not showing anymore. The missed calls etc notification is but not that one! It's harder for me to see if i have received a message now!
Any ideas?

what kind of phone do you have? you can try restoring factory settings *#7780# you will not lose any data or just go in the settings menu and do the same thing the default code is 12345. you also might have too many messages try getting rid of some and see if it is the same or your function got restored?

Skype not connecting calls/give notifications

Hi I live in Canada, and my friend lives in United States.
For the last few months, whenever he sends me a message I do not get a notification, at first I thought it was because my status was set on Busy for a day, but that wasn't the case at all. I also have Windows 7 on my laptop, his is the same, and we both have the latest version installed.
My status is set at Away, and if anyone else messages me, I get a notification, I don't receive from this specific person. The same thing happened to my ex boyfriend as well as my best friend, I don't get a message notification at all. And I didn't do anything to the settings that may have caused this, it just happened one day to each of them. I noticed that these 3 people were the ones I talk to the most, and I suppose someone else is about to be on the 'No Notifications list'
Is there any way to fix this?
Also I'm trying to call my friend on Skype today on my laptop, the same one that doesn't give notifications, and the call won't connect on my side nor his side. Yet the call goes through my phone only and then in the chat Skype claims that we have missed calls from each other. I restarted my laptop, and I reinstalled Skype, as well as reset my network and nothing is working.
This is getting ridiculous. I really need help please.

I have the exact same problem.
Also with iMac, and iPhone latest Skype software versions on both.
Been like this for some months now. But not on all calls. Sometimes works perfectly ok - sometimes not! Sometimes - always fails with particular contacts but not others.
Problem is with outgoing call, not ringing, not connecting, just failing for no reason.
I expect a lot of people have experienced this, and just try again later on.
But, there doesn't seem to be any fixes anytime soon on this community.
The worry is:- does anyone at Skype tech support ever look at these mails at all!

After updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google,yahoo, Facebook (message,notification,profile,home) and others site are disabled. How can solve this problem?

I tried with Firefox 4;5 and 6, same problem exist . I tried by active all add ons for facebook, same problem exist. If I use internet explorer , I don't find such problem with it.

As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
