    Hello Andieas
Why open a new window for fast browsing??
    Open new tabs.
Just right click on what you want to open and click "Open in new Tab"
It is easy and doesn't consume memory from your computer as well as easy to navigate.

  • My Google preferences are set to show search results in a new window. However, when I do a Google search, it Firefox always opens 2 new windows with the (same) results. How can I fix this?

I did not change my Google settings. I always have had it set to open search results in a new window. Some time ago, it started opening up two windows that have identical url/content.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

  • Display remote topic in new window with remote project TOC?

Although I've used RoboHelp for several years, I'm self-taught and work independently, so would have to classify myself as a beginning user. I'm using RoboHelp HTML 6.0 and Windows XP Professional.
My question is this: I know how to link to a topic in a remote project, but is there a way to display the remote topic in a new help window with its own (remote project's) TOC? I've attached an illustration. Here's the background, if you need it, and why I think I want to do this:
The company I'm working with previously provided user assistance via three printed manuals: a Setup Guide, a User's Guide, and an Administrator's Guide. The first project I completed for them was to convert the information in the User's and Administrator's Guides into a single online help system. We combined the two because their users are generally smaller companies where the "users" and the "administrators" are often the same people. The Help is deployed as a .chm file on the same CD with software updates.
The next step we are taking is to transform the Setup Guide to online help. It will be context-sensitive (screen-level) help for each of the 80 or so setup screens that a new user of their software should complete to tailor the application to their business practices and get the most out of it. Obviously users will need a higher level of access rights to be able to perform or make changes to the setup. However we still want to be able to cross-reference the user's help and the setup help, so that the relationship between specific setup choices and functionality is clear and adjustments can easily be made, if necessary, as they gain more experience with the software. For example, a user feels a need for an additional customer description code on a customer profile page. The user presses F1 to view Help for the page, the Help tells them exactly on which setup screen those codes are created, and they can follow the link to those instructions if they want to.
I want these two help systems to be accessible to each other and the user, and yet retain their separate identities. I don't think I want Setup to appear as yet another book in the User's Table of Contents, which is already somewhat overwhelming. So far I have written it as a separate RH project, knowing that I can import topics to the User help if I need to. Thanks in advance for your help! And don't forget I'm a relative newbie to RH. Thanks!

I got the new window to open up with the new CHM now...
As a follow up, it seems I need to define the new window with
the specific TOC and Index of the new CHM. I there a way to define
a window that picks up the related TOC and Index of the chm that it
opens(in this way, a single window type gets created, so that when
I get a new subsytem, I do not have to keep adding/creating new
windows, which makes me have to redistribute the main system
help...which is what I am trying to avoid)

  • Make a new window repeat the image?

I have an image that I want to tile seamlessly. So I do the offset-thing and clone it. What I want to do now is to open a new window with the same image (Window > Arrange > New Window) for filename.ext and then tile the windows (Arrange > Tile), but then also make the new window to repeat the image so that I can see the edits I make reflect in the repeated image so I can get rid of unwanted patterns. I hope I'm not too vague about my question! Thanks!

Thank you for your answers! I didn't quite get it to work the way I wanted though.
Can I somehow get my left window to show my image in a non-tiled state so that I can edit it while my right window shows the same image but tiled and zoomed out and updates when I make the edits in my left window? It's a bit of a pain in the *** to edit my image, then copy it and pasting it in an array. Then going back and editing, array again. This is a hassle even with an action. There's maybe other texturing applications for this kind of workflow but I thought I was so close with the New Window-feature in PS
For the updating part you can use smart objects. There is one time setup that is more involved but then you can use this as a template for any future work.
I just did that myself and described the steps:
Create a canvas with a size that will fit perfectly many squares for example 1000 x 1000 to fit 100 squares with the size 100 x 100.
On a new layer at the top left corner create a 100 x 100 square with any color or image.
Right click on the layer with the square in the layer's palette and choose Convert to Smart Object.
Hold Alt and drag the layer on top of itself 9 times to have total of 10 copies of the layer.
On the canvas, make sure there is no selection, and with the Move tool drag one of the overlapping squares snapping it to the top right of the canvas (this is easy if Snap to Document Bounds is checked in the View > Snap to menu).
In the layers palette Shift click the first and last layers to select all layers with the square.
Make sure the Move tool is selected and in its options at the top of the screen click the "Distribute Horizontal Centers" button (the third from the right side).
While all layers are still selected in the layers's palette, press Ctrl + G to group them.
Duplicate  and distribute the group vertically in the same way you duplicated the squares but using "Distribute Vertical Centers" button instead. However, Alt+ drag a group doesn't work on a document with nothing but a single group, and I had to duplicate the first group by right clicking on it and choosing Duplicate. Then you can Alt + drag and drop between Groups.
If you whish, while all groups are selected press Ctrl + Shift + Group, to ungroup and then Ctrl + Group to have all squares organized in one group and that's  basically it with the initial setup.
Now edit a tile and update the image.
In the layer's palette, double click the icon of any of the smart layers with a square and this will open the square in its own window.
Change, create or paste new image on the image of that window and when you Save this will update all tiles in the other window.
Also in case you don't know, when you are editing the square of the smart layer, you can use Filters > Others > Offset with Horizontal and Vertical set to 50 pixels and for the Undefined Areas, check Wrap Around. to help you with creating a seamless tile. It creates seamless borders and all you have to do is eliminate the seams in the middle with the cloning or painting tools.

  • I work on two screens. With the new updates, my computer will not automatically open a new window on the second screen.

I work on two screens. With the new updates we cannot automatically open a new window on the second screen, but have to move them over manually. Not a huge problem, but because of the nature of the work, it gets tedious.

    Hi Annowriter,
Thank you for your question, I understand that it is annoying to have to move a new window to the second screen. Since it opens in the active screen this may have been a stored preference, however it is not the default.
There is an add on called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/monitor-master/ Monitor Master] that customizes settings like this. Check it out.

  • I can't get download to work - it will not copy the mp3 file to my chosen location (as set in tools/options) - it gives me a new window with a player - no dwnlo

I am running windows xp sp2 and I have set my dowload location under (tools/options), but when I select an MP3 file to download, firefox does NOT copy the file to my chosen location on my HD - instead, it opens up a new window with a makeshift "player" and begins loading the player with the MP3 file. The problem is that I have no idea where on my system firefox has copied this file to, so, I cannot leave and come back later and play this MP3 file using winamp. I have to listen to it right then or lose it - if I close that new window (with that puny little "player"), then I lose the download, wherever firefox put it on my PC (I got no idea where it is). This is all under firefox 25.0
I am also running FIrefox 12.0 on an older windows 2000 machine and that works perfectly - I can download any MP3 file I want, and firefox 12.0 (on win2k, sp4) downloads it to my chosen location (on my HD), and it gives me the download window so I can watch its progress and have some control over pause, and resume, and, when it is done, the download window offers me the option to "open containing folder" so I can make sure it got to where I wanted it. In other words, Firefox 12.0 on WIn2k, sp4 works better than firefox 25.0 on winxp sp2!!!!! What gives? I went through and set up my options for XP just like I did with Win2k and it all looks good, but firefox 25.0 just ignores my chosen location and always defaults to give me that makeshift player and I am not able to actually copy the mp3 file to my harddrive - it makes firerox 25.0 almost unusable since downloading mp3 files is a big part of my firexfox use - please help - I am not able to upgrade windows at this time, and, since firefox 12.0 still works fine on win2k, I can't understand what happened at firefox?

    Phillipp,
I tried it again using "save link as", and this time it actually worked! I just now downloaded several more using the "save link as" option, and it works perfectly. Thanks. Problem solved.

  • New Window from "FILE- NEW-WINDOW" duplicates all the currently open tabs in the new window. I want new window with just the "Home" tab please?

    Running Firefox 3.6.13 on 64Bit Win7.
I like to group tabs on a topic in a window, and when the tabs get to be too many, or a new topic, I do FILE->NEW-WINDOW and expect a new window with just one default (Home) tab. Instead I get a new window with ALL the tabs of the first window.
I have checked all the Options I could find. Nothing helped. I CAN make a new Window with just one tab if I right-click a link and say "Open in NEW Window".

A new window should only open with the home page(s).<br />
If you see differently then you need to check your extensions.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Call transaction in new session with the value at hotspot

    Hi all,
As a hotspot functionality I would like to open a new transaction in a new session with the value at hotspot. For that reason, I am using the FM ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION with the option STARTING NEW TASK.
This FM is not working because Parameter ID is not Maintained for the field (Hotspoted). So no value is passing to new transaction.
Please suggest any other way to implement this.

  • Is there a way to open a new window with one site when the home setting on Firefox has multiple websites?

While working in Firefox is there a way to open a new window with one site when the home setting on Firefox has multiple websites?

I guess I'm not explaining myself fully. I have a home page designation in firefox preferences that starts firefox up with 5 sites. that pretty fills up my screen with tabs.
At some point I want to initiate another WINDOW in firefox (NOT a tab). I would like to be able to open up a window that ONLY has ONE tab, or as if there were only one site designated as the home page. This gives me a workspace that has my most useful sites available in tabs in one window, and also another WINDOW that I can move around in and even create more tabs without messing up my primary set of TABS (in my primary window). I see how this might not be doable without doing what I do now, which is open up a new window, and then close tabs until the new window just has one tab for me to work from.
