Call of Duty 4 Processor Requirements.
I am Thinking about getting Call of Duty 4 for my Mac Mini. But the system requirements says I need to have a 2.0 ghz processor, but I have a 1.82 ghz processor. Could I still play the game or will that be a big factor?

Call of Duty MW2 and Processors
Hi,
My boyfriend bought me Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for an early Hannukah gift because I always play it on his computer. It wont work on my Acer computer. There's serious lag. It installed fine and everything but once i go into the game its really laggy. We decided its the processor in my computer. The processor is AMD Athlon processor and its only like 1.6 Ghz. It's a really cheap Acer I got 2 years ago. I decided to get a new computer because this isn't the first issue I've had with this computer.
I'm looking to get one in the $500-600 range and i found a few I like but I want to make sure the processor will be able to run COD MW2.
This is the one I'm leaning towards, but is the Intel i3 Processor going to work or do I need one with an Intel i5?

Call of duty black ops has come out on mac, and the system requirements say 2.4ghz is needed, i only have 2.3ghz, do you think the game will run okay? thank you
This is too generic of a statement. They are working on support for the 2012 MacBook Pros and because of the better architecture in the 2012 machines a 2.3GHz machine may perform well.

Call of DUty on Intel is killing me
I have a brand spankin' new 24"iMac with 3.06ghz and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics card. I'm already brocken up over the fact that i can no longer play Call od Duty : united offensive or pretty much any other game that I had for my other non-intel based mac. but now i figure i should get Call of Duty 2. unfortunately Aspyr's website says my Graphics card is not supported. they told me that it possibly could run fine, but there are no promises. has anyone with my graphics card played this with good results? any opinions? my new mac is bringing me down

Your NVIDA GeForce card is compatible... but I noticed in System Requirements... it mentions Tiger
10.4.5 ... you're running Leopard. I'm wondering if it's the difference in operating systems that's causing the problem, not the graphics card.

Performance issues while playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
Hey.
I've noticed something really annoying when playing the game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 through Boot Camp (booting native of course) on my iMac.
It all runs smooth the first and maybe the second session, but when I continue to play for 3+ sessions it takes a LONG time for the game to load at the beginning of each map. Sometimes it's not even possible to do anything for almost 3 minutes straight.
It's extreme delay (like I had 0.1 FPS) and it continues to be like this for 3 minutes (or more), but it stops when I've played a while on the map. But then again, next map, it's the same story. I don't have any problems with any other game.
However, when I quit the game and start it up right after, it stops but starts over again. I can play smooth the first few rounds, then delay.
Anyone else have this problem?Hey XS...Sounds like memory or cache problems to me. How much memory do you have? Are you playing on XP, Vista or Win 7? Make sure you have all the updates that are available installed, such as, Apple Software Update (from within Windows ???), Windows ??? Updates themselves, and the latest COD/MW 2 updates.
I've just finished playing COD Modern Warfare 2 on my Mac and it was awesome. The graphics and scenery are unbelievable. Gameplay was smooth and very responsive. I detected no lag. Not sure how to check the fps though.
I have noticed that after the Windows Vista Desktop appears I have to wait about 2 minutes for Win to complete booting up. Probably something in the background. If I try to launch COD too quick then I sometimes get this "Steam" file compatibility alert. The same is true for quitting COD. I have to wait the same 2 minutes before I can reboot back into Mac OS. Too quick here causes a lot of delays and once a lockup that required a hard startup. Other than that no problems. There could also be some online communications in the background slowing things up. I believe a couple of inadvertent key presses could connect you to the Steam Online Community during gameplay but I'm not sure. I'm not very Windows savvy.
Game Problems: I had a couple of glitches at first that required a reboot but that seems to have been resolved with the latest in-game app update.
Also, my Boot Camp experiences have been flawless to perfect so far. Knock on wood.

I'm looking at acquiring the new video game Call of Duty: Black Ops and just wondering how well (or poorly) my humble white Macbook will play the game. *Does anyone have some video footage of the game running on a 2010 Macbook 7'1?* According to the system requirements for Black Ops, the Macbook should just barely run the game, but I'm not sure how bad the game will look on minimum settings. (Yes I realize my Macbook is not a gaming machine, but I do play some older games on it like Half-Life 2.)

I Have an iMac 21,5" 8GB RAM 1024MB 2,9Ghz. I buyed it in Feburary. I want to play Call of Duty Ghosts on my iMac i use Win7 with Parallels. I don't know if it works? I already have Skyrim and Fifa 14 and they work very well. So I want to ask you if i could play CoD Ghosts without any problems.
p.s. I dont really want to use Bootcamp only when ther is no other option.

The long answer is....maybe.
Parallels is a Virtual Machine for Windows, meaning that it runs on the Mac OS X Software. Bootcamp repartitions your HD and utilizes just the Mac's Hardware to run Windows using its own OS system files.
If you have 2 games already that run in Parallels right now with no issues, then I don't see why this new game would not work. However if it does not, you may want to consider a Bootcamp parition in order to keep your Windows and Mac OS X partitions separate in the event of any OS problems.

Kern protection error from Call of Duty 2 game
Hey everyone, I was told if anyone could help me it would be on here.
Over the last few weeks I started getting the odd kern protection error while playing my Call of Duty 2 game. I have had this game for years and this had never happened before. Over the last week, it now occurs EVERY time I play the game. I sometimes can get 5 minutes in the game before it crashes and sometimes it is only seconds.
I have OS X version 10.4.11 on 24 inch iMac
2.16 GHz intel Core 2 Duo
1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
I have run the Hardware Test disk and it found no issues.
I thought it may be my gpu overheating but was told the temps are in normal ranges. Here is a sample of the temps immediately after the error:

Private MessageIf they were going to do a Blops III limited edition console I'm sure they'd have announced it by now. Thing is, what would they do? I mean, the colouring for Blops is black and orange... the PS4 is already black, and it has an orange light. I am however very surprised that they haven't (as of yet) done one though. Given all the limited edition PS4s that exist for other games that Sony have strong tie ins with, like MGSV, Batman and Destiny, I'd have thought a Blops III limited edition console was a shoe-in. It is after all the biggest franchise in gaming.

You should install the latest drivers for your video card, being sure to uninstall the old drivers first. If you already have the latest drivers, you should completely uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them. This fixes most problems. But i got direct rending and i tried to install the mesa-git and libgl-dri-git packages from AUR, but that didn't help.
Can somebody push me in the right direction?

Last edited by jordz (2007-04-11 21:48:47)When he installed the new fibre hub, did he use his laptop to take settings off old white hub and put it on new one?... way to check is dial into the hub ( 192.168.1.254 ) go to setting and then wireless, and see if the hub name and key are the same that is printed on card and back of hub....as this could be your problem...one thing to try is set the new hub back to default ( you will have to reconnect anything that uses wireless ) and see if this sorts it out.

Call of duty 1.5 patch on intel working for anyone?
If anyone has seen my past posts you would know i have been having some problems with my 24" intel iMac and call f duty and call of duty United Offensive. Well to save you all the past posts..i have finally gotten the disks installed on my computer and running. the problem is if i try to install the 1.5 patch for COD. the installation doesn't happen. it stops installing at the start and looks like it will continue but never does. I called Aspyr and they said that the patch is not intel compatible and that it won't install. bummer. however they also told me that COD in general would not run on an intel or with my graphics card and it runs 100% better than COD 2 does....which runs like atari. has anyone installed the 1.5 patch successfully? if so how? thanks
ok guys...here is the NEW news. you may like this but lets not get our hopes up. don't bother trying to install the patch from your friends computer,i have talked to aspyr a few times over the phone about this the past couple of days and they said it can only be updated from the installer. no other way. I tried doing that too with no success. but i will now copy the email that i sent them and their responses. tell me how i did:)

+The issue you are having is related to the fact that these patch installers are old and do not run properly on Intel Macs. The first Call of Duty games are not Universal Applications and run under Rosetta emulation when using an Intel Processor. The patches also react adversely when trying to operate in the Intel processor environment.+

I've bought Call of duty Ghosts.. it require 6 GB ram, so i upgraded mine from 4 GB to 8 GB. Now i can run the game, after 2 sec, it freezes. So i tried to download NVIDIA 331.65 which says to be the solution. And then it says"this driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". So i couldnt download NVIDIA 331.65 ....
Any idea?
This might be the problem for Battlefield 4 gamers tooThere's an important distinction you need to make on NVIDIA's web site to get the "right" driver.
NVIDIA's driver finder has separate categories for the desktop and mobile variants.
You don't specify the computer model in question, so I'm going to throw in a guess that you have a notebook. If this is so, or you have one of the iMacs or Mac minis with the 9400 MCP, then it's really a 9400M (the M standing for mobile), in which case you need the GeForce 9M drivers.
If installing these yields the same error, then the drivers can be modified so that they will install properly. Google "nvidia mobile driver modder" if you wish to try. I cannot, however, guarantee the results of such hacks even as I know they exist.

As for Call of Duty 4, I doubt there is any chance of getting it working let alone a decent frame rate.
I own an M400 and it was one of the things I knew would be a problem when I purchased it.
