  • IPhone 6 Plus 64GB (iOS 8.1 or 8.1.1) springboard crashes repeatedly when making phone calls via Continuity on Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 using Yosemite 10.10.1

I USED TO be able to make phone calls using continuity on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Yosemite (10.10) via my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 without any problems.  Once I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, my iPhone's springboard would continually crash where it brings up the Apple logo and quickly restarts repeatedly until I end the call.  Just so that you know, I am able to stay on the call while this is occurring the whole time.
I need to reiterate, this all started happening as soon as I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 while still on iOS 8.1.  I know this because I made a few phone calls (loving the feature), updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, then made a few phone calls afterwards, and this started happening.
When iOS 8.1.1 came out, I eagerly updated hoping this issue would go away, and it did not.  I'm hoping Apple notices this post.  If anyone else has this problem, please contact Apple and chime in this post as well.  Thank you Apple for incorporating continuity calling. I love this feature, but need to use it without my phone's springboard constantly crashing.

I have this issue as well. I am using an iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2, 5K iMac, and MacBook Pro. When I make a continuity calls from any device, the springboard crashes. This only happens with outgoing calls, incoming calls are functioning normal. I am currently working with multiple Apple Senior Advisors, and they are working directly with iOS a engineers. I have an active open case and will update this thread when a resolution is found.
Just a tip for everyone with this issue, restoring your devices and setting them up as new WILL NOT correct this issue. Save yourself the hassle. I did this with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook and the issue still persists.

  • I can't make FaceTime (Version 1.1.1 (309)) calls out from my Macbook Pro (Version 10.7.5). Anybody experiencing the same problems or any solutions??

I've been trying to make calls to other FaceTime users (on iPhones and Macs) via my Macbook Pro.
On my side FaceTime continues ringing. However, on the other side, when the person has picked up the call, FaceTime would show 'connecting' for around a minute or so and then 'connection lost'. Meanwhile, FaceTime would still continue ringing and would only show 'unable to facetime' after 2 minutes or more.
My FaceTime version is Version 1.1.1 (309).
    Macbook Pro 10.7.5
Wondering if anyone has the same issues.
Or does anyone have the solutions??

Yes. I'm having the same problem with the same FaceTime version and Macbook Pro OS10.7.5 as well as the iPod Touch 4th generation.
Another thing is that since updating the OS, Skype on Facebook does not receive the image without freezing or having blinking horizontal lines running through it.

  • Unapproved caller Error on Startup Macbook pro 2011

    Hi All
I recently clicked on system updates to install Mavricks 10.9.1 and it wouldnt download so I went to restart and try again but now I am getting this error.
    Here is what is happening,
    - Tried to update using app store, and got some error about not being able to download the update
    - Downloaded the update 10.9.1 from the apple support website and installed,
    - The install started then went to restart and did so no worries and it seemed that it didnt actually install as the computer was still saying 10.9
    - I decided it could be a permissions issue after a quick google so went >disk utiity> Check permissions followed by repair permissions
    - I then Restarted the computer to see if that would work and got the error "Unapproved caller. SecurityAgent may only be invoked by apple software."
It seems odd that it would happen as im trying to update the system....
There must be a work around of the "SecurityAgent" or something...
Any help would be hugly appreciated.
What I have tried so far...
    - Restart in safe mode - (seems to have the same issue as standard mode)
    - Started from the Mavricks backup disc using "option" and selecting the drive,
This takes me to the screen with the option to reinstall etc etc,
    - I have read people reinstalling the system from scratch and still ending up with the same issue,
For me it is very important to get the data off the HDD.
    The Computer
    - Macbook Pro Late 2011 Model 13"
    - 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    - 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3
    - 500GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM
    - Running Mavricks 10.9

Also I forgot to add before my last restart I removed everything from the Logon Items under > Settings > Users > Logon Items, Im not sure if something from there could of caused this.....

  • Received a Facetime Call from My Stolen Macbook Pro Today - Trackable?

    Long Story Short:
My 15" Macbook Pro was stolen recently on July 28th 2011 while travelling to Boston .
    Today:
My [wonderful!] 12 year old sister, who has been attempting to facetime my Mac from her iPod Touch since that time had a weird/(hopefully great?) thing happen
    - After a few attempts at calling my username with no answer, someone who was logged into MY account actually called her back. When answering the call, the camera was covered with hands, she was able to get a screenshot though it probably may not help much.
    - My immediate thought was to try and track the incoming IP where the call was made from. So after calling my ISP (Verizon FIOS) I was told that they had no record of any incoming/outgoing IP addresses communicating with my computer (I hope I'm describing it correctly)...which I know can't be true.
    - iPod Touch was connected through WEP Wifi to our Verizon FIOS Router.
    - I have already called the Philadelphia Police who are conducting an investigation into this. Waiting to hear back.
    - Am also going to visit my Local Police to see what they can do
I am wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction to track the IP of the call that was made. Any software which I can install to track any FUTURE incoming communication for the next time I try and call my account back.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Making calls while plugged to MacBook Pro or ACD or USB Hub

When I connect iPhone to MacBook Pro to sync and charge, it's not possible to make or receive calls. Even after unplugging, I can't make/receive calls and I have to either turn it off or soft reset. Is this normal?
I have an iPhone 3G dock. I have tried several ways to connect it: direct to MacBook Pro, to Apple Cinema Display-MBP, to Belkin USB Hub-ACD-MBP. I have even tried without the dock. Same problem every time.
    Any idea?

My problem is solved. It happens that the dock was placed between the Macbook Pro, Time Capsule and a speaker. After multiple tests, I realized that the iPhone mounted on the dock works perfectly well if dock is placed somewhere else away from these items. Right now, the dock is connected to a powered USB hub, then to Apple Cinema Display and then to MacBook Pro.
By the way, it also works well if the iPhone is connected using the usb cable only, without the dock, even if it's placed between these items. I personally think that Time Capsule causes some kind of interference with the dock.
Hope this helps to someone else.

  • Why can't I make a call to a macbook pro

I try calling my daughter's macbook pro, using her email address....it says connecting, but never connects....she says it freezes on her end.  She is able to facetime with other macs okay.

If the Mac is that new, it's 10.6 - Snow Leopard.
Have you tried to FT with anyone else?

  • Overheating MacBook Pro 17" typically when high graphics requirements run

I have a refurb MBP 17" with 2GB RAM, (1GB from Crucial), 120GB drive, glossy display. Everything on this machine runs fine, but if I watch a TV show from iTunes, or play Halo, the graphics load makes the temperature of the machine go through the roof, well above 60 Celsius, sometime close to 70 C. The machine literally stops/freezes, and later continues. I use a small freeware program called SMC Fan Control, which allows me to increase the default fan speeds from 1000 RPM to 3000+ or more. Still no effect. Apple, what is going on with my machine? Anyone experiencing the same thing?

I am having similar problems on my four days old MacBook Pro 2.2GHz (Santa Rosa). It runs fine until I start a graphically intensive game, then it hangs with soundloops and sometimes with graphical glitches (so far I've been able to reproduce the crash in Call of Duty 2 and Redline, both running at maximum settings). In Redline the computer first froze for about ten seconds then resumed for a few seconds after which it finally crashed with corrupted textures showing.
I haven't been able to get any temperature readings just before the crashing but when running Warcraft III in window mode I've observed both CPU and GPU temperatures reaching 90°C before the fans spin up from 2000rpm to 6000rpm, cooling the above down to ~70°C. When the crashes occured the bottom casing was noticably hotter than when I was running Warcraft III.
My guess is that the GPU (or possibly some other chip) owerheats and shuts down to prevent permanent damage. This, if true, should not be happening on a fully functional computer.
I'm going to run the Hardware Test and also see if the crash can be reproduced in other games and if the same errors occur in windows (using boot camp). Then I guess I'll have to give apple supprt a call...

After repeated visits to Genius Bar to solve Airport Card, HDD, and Lock Up issues (each with a recommendation to replace a specific component rather than the overall problem), my Macbook Pro 6.1 i7 overheats and locks up random
Cooling fans are operating properly but the system is too hot - I think that's what fried the Airport Card and is causing the lock ups.
    Thoughts?

  • How to remote install osx on MacBook Pro, how to remote install OSX on MacBook Pro

I recently used an application called monolingual on my MacBook Pro and it seems that I have completely erased all apple input files that allow OSX to use the built-in alphabetical keys. I can still type using my iPhone through an application called TeamViewer.

  • MacBook Pro to iPad FaceTime help!

I have a MacBook Pro and my mom has an iPad. When we try to FaceTime each other a message comes up saying the other is "not available for FaceTime". We don't understand why this doesn't work because we are using different email addresses to call each other. I have the same problem when I try to call my dad's MacBook Pro using my MacBook Pro. However, I have made calls from my MacBook Pro to multiple iPhones and vice versa. So why doesn't it work between iPads and other MacBooks?  HELP!

You need OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion to have FaceTime on the Mac. Also an Apple ID with a valid e-mail address for the Mac.

  • Landline to MacBook Pro for dialing in and out

I'm not sure this is the place to post this, and if it's not I'd appreciate pointing to where it's most appropriate.
I have a phone on my desk at work. It is part of the office's systems and has caller ID and transferring capabilities. I speak on the phone a lot and type at the same time, which gets tiring.
I have this idea to somehow use a splitter at the phone socket on the wall with one end going to the existing handset and the other to my MacBook Pro. I would like to then use my MacBook Pro to dial and pick up calls and use my MacBook Pro's speakers to get the caller's voice and the MacBook Pro's microphone to pick up my voice.
    Can this be done somehow?
I found this AppleScript that looks like it could help, although I don't know if this is more aimed at faxes:

I know my MacBook Pro doesn't have a modem built-in, but I was able to find this online which could help me?

    Ideas are welcome, thanks!

    Thanks Roger.
I hear you re "less hassle". However, the reason I ask is because I also listen to music whilst I work via a bluetooth headset. My ultimate goal is to set all sound from the mac to come out through the bluetooth headset and the Mac's built-in mic to pick up my voice. To answer a call I'd just take the handset off the hook and work hands-free.
I can't change the handset from work, unfortunately, so I can't get a bluetooth phone or anything.
I'll probably get the modem anyway as it's useful to have. Thanks.

  • MacBook Pro will not come out of deep sleep unless plugged in

Has anyone had trouble with this? My MacBook Pro (fall 2012) won't wake up from deep sleep unless I plug it in even if the battery is fully charged. It will take it a while to wake up, and then it shows an X in the battery icon for several minutes even when I know the battery is at or near 100%. It eventually shows the percentage and I can unplug it.
I've tried calling support, but the man I talked to didn't really get what I was saying. He kept offering me solutions that didn't really fit my problem. I thought he'd finally understood, and I was supposed to call back after trying a couple of things, but then I got an email from him saying he'd figured out my problem and I didn't need to call back. My MacBook Pro was going into deep sleep, and deep sleep is totally normal. Uh, yeah. I know. That's not the problem. It won't wake up is the problem.
    Running 10.8.4
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Diana

Here's what I've tried so far.
    Reset SMC
    Reset PRAM
    Repair permissions
    Boot in Safe Mode
    Deleted Power Management plist file
Changed screensaver (worked for someone in the discussions forum)
Adjusted Startup/Wake time in Energy Saver (also worked for someone)
Update firmware with 1.8 (suggested for my machine)
    Updated to 10.8.5
Downloaded Smart Sleep--set it to Sleep only, thought it was working for a few days, but machine would not wake up again yesterday and today
Just read about locking the Energy Saver today so will try that.
Mine seems to be connected to the power cord for some reason. I always have to plug it in to wake it up from deep sleep. Then it wakes up ok. The problem isn't awful since I rarely take it with me, but it just shouldn't be happening. My older MacBookPro (2010) never has this problem, but it's still running Leopard.
I have a Genius Bar appt. in a couple of days.

  • How can I have Facetime callers distinguish between my Ipad and my MacBook Pro?

I'm wondering how does one set things up so that a Facetime caller can distinguish between calling me on my iPad versus calling me on my MacBook Pro? I have family calling me and it is popping up on the MacBook when, ideally, the call would come through to my Ipad when I'm traveling?

    Hello Mac_ThePI,
In FaceTime's preferences, you can choose what Apple IDs and/or phone numbers you can be reached at. You might choose to make the phone number or certain Apple IDs the only checked option(s) on your iPad, and others on your Mac.
