Call to external JavaScript

Hi experts,
I want to simplify my Web template by extracting the JavaScript I created in there and store it in the BW Mime repository, under the Customer Javascript file.
I imported the .js in BW removing references <script>.
I made sure that my comment lines are //  or /* ... */
I replaced the Javascript code within my template by
<script src=/sap/bw/mime/Customer/JavaScript/myfile.js>
  function myfile(parm1,parm2);
</script>
Now, when I get to call it, I set :
<script>myfile(sheet,size);</script>
When I get to execute that section, it says that I have error on the page.  Is it the good way to call the javascript file?  I am sure it is something obvious, but...
Tks a lot

We usually just put in one entry near the top of the HTML for referencing the JS file.  As an example:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript1.2"  SRC="MIME/Customer/JavaScript/Your_File.js" TYPE='text/javascript'></SCRIPT>
Then whenever there's a part in the page that needs to call a function within it, it will already have it available.  As shown below:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript1.2" TYPE='text/javascript'>
  Your_Function('TEST1','TEST2');
</SCRIPT>
So you shouldn't have to list the function definition in your web template -- it would pull it from the .JS include.  And I don't think you have to say /sap/bw/ on your path -- just start with /MIME/.
Hope this helps... Jody

  • Error while calling an external javascript file

    Hi,
    I have added a javascript file into the public_html folder, i have named it main.js.
    I have a html file in which i am referring to the javascript externally , this too is in my public_html folder. But the HTML page does not seem to be able to invoke the javascript.It does not even enter the method.
    My code is as follows
    html file
    <head>
    <title>untitled1</title>
    <script language="Javascript" src=\"\main.js\" type=\"text/javascript\"></SCRIPT>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form name="test" method="POST" action="test">
    <input type="button" value="submit" name="submit" onclick="analyze_page()">
    </form>
    </body>
    </head>
    main.js
    <script language="Javascript">
    function analyze_page(){
    alert("testing if it works");
    </script>
    (2)
    Secondly, I also have a servlet in a package com.oracle.prod, what is the path I should give in the servlet <SCRIPT> tag so that the javascript is accessible while the page gets rendered

    Hi Kart,
    Try to do:
    <script language="Javascript" src="<c:out value="${pageContext.request.contextPath}"/>main.js" type="text/javascript"></SCRIPT>
    In that way you can access the context path of your application.
    So, another thing that I noted is \" it's unecessary if you are editing directly a jsp/html file.

  • How to call Edge Animate's play function from external javascript

    I have a symbol on the stage called "cart".... inside the symbol is my graphic that has a motion path put on it to the timeline (it is called "car_v1").
    On my stage I have a code to hide the symbol cart with an external css class :
    sym.$("cart").addClass( "hidden" );  ( this is the css - .hidden { display: none; } )
    I have a function that calls an external javascript file.. from that external file I want to get the timeline animation to work:
    here is the function called:
    checkCar();
    and here is the function:
    function checkCar() {
    if (AdobeEdge.countCar == 5){
    AdobeEdge.getComposition("EDGE-172492634").getStage().$("cart").removeClass( "hidden" ); // this works!
    AdobeEdge.getComposition("EDGE-172492634").getStage().$("cart").play(); //doesn't work!        <------------this is the line I need help with!
    // sym.getSymbol("cart").play(); // this works inside of edge and the timeline animation runs!!!
    Can anyone help me get the play function to work from my external javascript file? Thanks!

    Hi,
    You can try:
    function checkCar() {
    if (AdobeEdge.countCar == 5){
    var iCall = AdobeEdge.getComposition("EDGE-172492634").getStage();
          iCall.$("cart").removeClass( "hidden" );
          iCall.getSymbol("cart").play();

  • Having problem with calling external javascript functions in LV

    Hi,
    I found this VI: http://lavag.org/topic/10304-discuss-calling-external-javascript/, which I believe can be really helpful for my work. The problem is I can't get it to run based on the following problem:
     - Apparently the "ScriptControl" cannot be loaded
    I am using LabView 8.6, and this vi has been produced in a 8.0 version. Do you think this is the problem? If not, what could cause this problem running this VI?
    Thanks,
    Diogo

    Hi,
    To start I am using this examplo from the google code page.
    <!DOCTYPE html "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
      "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
      <head>
        <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
        <title>Google Maps JavaScript API Example</title>
        <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;key=abcdefg&sensor=true_or_false"
                type="text/javascript"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
        function initialize() {
          if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) {
            var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas"));
            map.setCenter(new GLatLng(37.4419, -122.1419), 13);
            map.setUIToDefault();
        </script>
      </head>
      <body onload="initialize()" onunload="GUnload()">
        <div id="map_canvas" style="width: 500px; height: 300px"></div>
      </body>
    </html>
    It loads a basic map, and is saved in a html file created for example in Notepad. Basically as I said the VI is very simple, see next image.
    But like I said, this strategy does not allow labview to interface dinamically with the javasscript code in the html file. Doing it this way, I would have to constantly update the code in the file with new coordinates and loading the map again. This causes the mentioned flickering problem that I also had with static maps.

  • External Javascript not working with C# and XAML windows phone app

    I've added a WebView into my project. If I navigate to the html file that contains external javascript files they don't work. Bit if I write the javascript code hardcoded into the html file it works properly.
    Here is the html portion:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8" />
    <title></title>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="testjs.js"></script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="abcd"></div>
    <br/>
    hello! this is a simple html block.
    </body>
    </html>
    Here is the javascript portion:
    document.getElementById("abcd").innerHTML = "New text!";
    When I open the webview it shows
    hello!
    this is a simple html block.,
    but if the javascript code worked it would show
    New
    Test! hello! this is a simple html block.
    And in the C# code the uri is called this way:
    url = onlineTestWebView.BuildLocalStreamUri("myUrl", "problem_page/test.html");
    StreamUriWinRTResolver myResolver = new StreamUriWinRTResolver();
    onlineTestWebView.NavigateToLocalStreamUri(url, myResolver);

    I assume this is because you are using NavigateToString. Please see

  • How to  include external javascript and css resources to a jsf?

    I need to include external css and javascript files to my jsf page. Using the code below does not work because all the styles on the css page are ignored and the functions within the js files are not executed.
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/resources/styles/style.css" />
    <script language="JavaScript" src="/resources/javascript/util.js"></script>When I try to execute any js function within a script tag on a jsf page I get an object expected error.
    I googled about my problem and found this piece of code for importing styles for an external css.
    <style type="text/css">
    @import url("/resources/styles/style.css");
    </style>How could I add an external javascript file to my jsf?

    Used the relative urls in my first post as well as these, and both were not working.
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./resources/styles/style.css" />
    <script language="JavaScript" src="./resources/javascript/util.js"></script>The ./ tells that the external file can be found by starting at the current directory and working down the path to the specified file. This is my directory structure. Index.jsf is the file that references the external js and css files.
    -Webcontent
    |_index.jsf
    |_resources
    |__styles
    | |__style.css
    |__javascript
    |__util.js
    Either way I still can't reference the files that I need. Calling a javascript function results in an object expected error, and the styles are ignored.
    If I include the js file directly in the jsf then I can get it to work. I don't want to do this because I have created a handful of seperate js files, and do not want to include all of them in one page. I am using myfaces and tomahawk if that helps.

  • Invoking external javascript file from xdp source

    Is it possible to invoke an external javascript file from within the xdp source? I know it is possible to embed the javascript in the form.
    If this is possible, would I be correct in assuming that this is also possible from pdf source?
    Basically I am looking to show / hide buttons based on the status associated with a form at a given time in the flow. My understanding of PDFs is that the source cannot be edited once it has been created? If this is the case I was hoping that there could be code embedded that would call on the external file which would return the status of the letter. Based on the response buttons / fragments etc could be shown / hidden as required.
    Feedback required asap please!
    Thanks in advance.

    You cannot call outside of the rendered form. So you have a couple of means to get information into the form. Merge dat aonto the form (in your case you can use a field as a flag and key off of that),or use Web Service call to check the status.
    Hope that helps

  • Changing .css property through external Javascript file?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create all kinds of functions on an external .js file, so I can just call them in Edge multiple times with less coding. The thing is, after importing jQuery and my external Javascript file, some code works, but I get stuck at this part: changing the .css property of a symbol, more specifically, the "font-size" property. My current function is:
    function setFont(textid,fontsize,originalWinWidth){ //textid: symbol's name; fontsize: current font size of this symbol; originalWinWidth: window size at the start of the animation
    console.log("Set Font:");
    //set the original font size
    var originalFontSize = Math.round(originalWinWidth/fontsize);
    console.log("Original Font Size: " + originalFontSize);
    console.log("Text ID: " + textid);
    //set the font size using jquery
    sym.$(textid).css("font-size", originalFontSize);  }
    I get an error at the last line, all other parts of the code works. Any idea what this could be?
    Thanks,
    Rafael Carignato

    Have you tried sending textid to the console.log to make sure you're sending the actual name of the symbol and not a pointer to the symbol itself?

  • How can I call a custom javascript function when clicking on cfgrid cell.

    I would like to call a custom javascript function when

    Simple example:

    so, where can I start?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to hide/show list columns based on specify the permission for Users, SharePoint Groups or Active Directory Groups.
    Here is a solution from CodePlex for your reference:

  • When I call an external program from Labview, how can I embed the interface into the front panel?

    I'm running Labiew 6i for Linux. I'm using a system exec.vi to call an external program to do image manipulation (since there is no IMAQ for linux). How can I embed the user interface of the external program into the front panel of Labview?

    As far as I know, the only way to embed other GUIs in LabView is an ActiveX in a container.
    As long as you are using Linux, try to place (moving them on the desktop ) the two windows linked (like those 3 of WinAmp).

  • How to call an external web service from OIM?

    Hi,
    I have a question on how to call an external web service from OIM within e.g. creating user process? How should it be done; through adapter and task in the process?
    Any recomendations?
    Thanks in advance!

    it is not clear to me if you are having problems with calling java code from OIM or if the problem is the web service API.
    Lets do some divide and conquer:
    Can you create a simple java class that just writes a couple of lines to the log? Please attach this code to the OIM task and make sure it runs.
    Once this works we can start looking at the web service call.
    Best regards

  • Applet with JFilechooser called from a Javascript blocks paint messages

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an applet that can:
    1) be called from a Javascript
    2) displays a file selection dialog for multi-selecting files
    3) returns the selected filenames in a string to the JavaScript
    I am able to use doPrivileged to apply the necessary security context to launch a JFilechooser and return the filenames selected. However, When the JFilechooser dialog is visible and the user moves the dialog window around the HTML pages dose not receive any repaint messages. They seem to be blocked by the thread that launched the JFilechooser dialog and is probably blocking update events as the dialog is still visible.
    I know I need some type of a message pump so the child thread can inform the parent thread and the browser to repaint. However, I don't know how to do this.
