Call up outlook express

I have a eclipse program.
The program is basically like this. There will be a textbox and a button. You can type some letters inside the textbox. After the clicking the button, an outlook express email interface should appear and the letters that have been typed inside the textbox should be inside an attachment in that email.
How can i do like that?
Please help.
Regards

Are you saying that you want to write an Eclipse plug-in that will allow you to do this OR that you want to use Eclipse as an IDE to construct an application using the Java language that will allow you to create an e-mail in this manner.
If the latter, then take a lok at the Desktop class that is now a part of version 6.0 of the Java language; do not know if it will support attachments however. Failing that, I reckon that your only course of action may well be JNI; write the C++ code to manipultae the Outlook dll and then call it.

  • Hi, I have an iphone 3GS from HK. After upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 as prompted by itunes on May 10, 2011 my entire contact in my iphone was wiped out! When I checked my backup file in Outlook Express it was also wiped out!!! What can I do now?

Hi, I have an iphone 3GS purchased in HK. After upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 as prompted by itunes on May 10, 2011 my entire contact in my iphone was wiped out. When I checked my backed up file in Outlook Express, it was also wiped out during the synchronization. I tried to restore from backup on iTunes but still, the contact was not there anymore. I have contacted your HK Apple Hotline and talked to a technical support called TIMMY LO, he said there is nothing to do with them and he refused to provide any support to recover my contact, he even said I should try to pay extra money to 3rd party supplier and see what they can do to my iphone, despite the fact that this could be caused by the pre-mature release of 4.3.3 when a bug still hasn't been fixed. I am very disappointed at Apple's service, especially considering that I have been a loyal customer of iphone / ipod touch in the past few years. I need an official reply from Apple on this! How can Apple be so irresponsible to their own firmware failure??

  • Is it possible that someone can disable my OUTLOOK EXPRESS by not letting me log in my password. and also not allowing me to log in to my gaming account.

Hiya, some time ago I had problems with various things on my pc, any way to cut a long story short I was linked through to some indians and I gave them remote access to my pc and they were cleaning up the Problems and faults, and threats, viruses etc. Telling me all the time that it was a free service etc, etc. So when I realised what it was really going to cost ie(£300) plus!
I immediately pulled the plug and told him that it was not me who made contact but them.
Anyway every now and again my PC starts playing up and I can't use my Outlook express. Because I can't get to contact them, in order to change my password. And also my gaming account, I can't log in becauseit won't let me type in my details,ie: Where I type in my user name it is got mumbo jumbo letters so I can't log in.
Also just about this time I get phone calls from indians asking if I am having problems and offering to sort them out, ie you're is running very slow, threats, we just answer no thanks and hang up. I feel they do infact have something to do with these things. is there anything I can do to put this right?
PS I have taken th pc to a local dealer who completely wiped and cleaned it, and who has serviced my pc several times because of things going wrong, At one point I was literally going to throw it in the dump, it was costing more than the Mortgage.

Did you buy a used iPhone? It appears that it's locked to that account.
However, before going nuts, try this step by step suggestion to change iCloud accounts.

  • How do I use Safari or Outlook Express for e-mail?

I have Mac OS 10.3.5 and Safari. I am going to switch my ISP with AOL dial-up to a DSL company possibly with Yahoo. I have never used Outlook Express. Now, I want to use either Safari or Outllok Express 5.0 for my e-mail. I want to save all the e-mail in my compter. Which program can work better for me? How do I start to set up e-mail?
Thank you very much in advance for your advice and instruction.
    Robert

Safari does not do email (except if it is web email which all browsers can do.) Outlook Express only works with OS 9, there is no OS X version. OS X comes with a dedicated email application called Mail. You will find it in your Applications folder.
If you open the Mail application and select Mail Help from the Help menu you will find all the information on how to configure Mail for your email needs.

  • OS9 version of Outlook Express to Leopard version of Mail

    Hello,
I have to help a friend migrate from an early 2000 iMac running OS9 to a current new iMac running Leopard (still to be purchased).
According to MacTracker her old iMac does have Fire Wire so I imagine I should be able to hook up the two computers somehow (in Target mode?) and move data files across.
But how about her email? She's currently using Outlook Express, which I've never used and am totally unfamiliar with. Is there some way to export her email from OE in a format that can be imported into the current version of Mail that will come with her new Mac?
    thanks,
    ncm

I tried installing Thunderbird (and also Netscape 7) on her new iMac while the old iMac's hd was on the new one's desktop (courtesy FireWire Target mode), but neither of them exhibited an option to import from OS9x version of Outlook Express - only Eudora and some other obscure format were selectable from the "import from other email programs" section. I also tried exporting from Outlook Express as text deliniated format (or whatever that's called) but nothing of use was subsequently imported into Apple's Mail client..which seems to hang while trying to import. She's now on 10.5.4 on the new iMac.
Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated. There must be some way of getting her work email from Outlook Express for OS9 and into Mail for OSX 10.5.4.
Does anybody know if there is a trial version of Entourage? Isn't that Microsoft's evolution of Outlook Express? Would that be able to import email from OE to Entourage and then possibly export that to Mail?

  • HUGE Outlook Express database problems!

I had a hard drive failure. The problem is that my Outlook Express Identities folder was stored there. I recovered the Identities folder using Data Rescue and I discovered that the file called "database" is truncated.
I can do a rebuild of the database but then all several thousand emails are missing. After some trial and error, I confirmed that it is the database file that is screwed.
I can use a backup file from 10 months ago but then the last 10 months of emails are missing.
    Database - 70 MB
    Database Cache - 20 KB
    Messages - 750 MB
I think everything I want is in the larger Messages file even though I also see messages inside the Database file. (I'll never understand the MS programming philosophy)
Are there any Mac utilities that will extract the emails from these database files?
What about my damaged database file? Since it's truncated, is there anything I can splice to the end of it to fool Outlook Express into properly rebuilding it?
Can these be transferred to a PC and then repaired using one of the dozens of Winbloze utilities available for database repair and then converted back?? If so, how?
I'm stumped and I'm hoping anyone here can help.
    Thank-you.

I never had a problem with OE, but it uses the same
MS programming philosophy as entourage, where I do
know you can't get out of a truncated databse…
Sorry, and if the automatic Rebuild routines won't
    fix it, it's just gone.
    Not quite...
I was able to recover about 99.9999% of the 28,000 "lost" emails using a neat little utility called "Emailchemy".
It scours nearly any email database file in almost any condition, pulls out the messages, and then saves them ALL to a generic mbox file that ANY email program can read. It also preserves the attachments!
FYI- For Outlook Express in OS 9, the file called "Database" contains all the outgoing emails and attachments. The file called "Messages" contains all the incoming emails and attachments.
I just ran Emailchemy on both of them and imported two mbox file into Entourage for OS X. That created two folders, each containing all the messages PLUS attachments from each of the two files.
In Entourage for OS X, ALL incoming and outgoing emails plus attachments are stored in the file called "Database". For this program, there's no such thing as "Messages" file.
So anyone reading this, DO NOT delete your corrupted Microsoft email database files, lock them, back them up, and do NOT give up hope. Even if you couldn't extract the information, you can still open the file in a text editor and see your messages inside (minus the attachments, of course). As horrific as this process may sound, at least you can search for something specific if needed.

  • Can't import from OUTLOOK EXPRESS 5 to Mail

I was trying to import contacts and e-mails from OUTLOOK EXPRESS and somehow all my information seemed to be erased from OUTLOOK.
When I try to open it up it doesn't have all my emails and addresses. It's as if it just got installed. I don't know where to look for this info in my hard drive.
Called APPLE and they told me that it could be that it got corrupted and deleted.
I have years of information in there. Any suggestions?

    Outlook 5 -> Mail
You can't go directly from Outlook 5 to Mail but you can do Outlook 5 -> Entourage -> Mail and that works very well
Your mail in Outlook 5 (I am assuming you're running Outloook Express 5.x under OS 9.2.x) is in the MUD folder. You'll find it in Documents > Microsoft User Data > Identities > Main Identity
If the Main identity is empty do a search for "Main Identity" and see if there are any other folders of the same name
If you can't locate it, restore it from a backup, import it into Entourage and then into Mail

  • Outlook Express and Ovi Suite syncing problems

    Hi,
I just installed the Ovi Suite for my new N5230 phone.
I tested syncing contacts for the first time from Outlook Express to the phone and my account at Ovi.com via Ovi Suite. All went fine.
However, I undertook a major edit of all my Outlook Express contacts data (thankfully backing it up afterwards on my PC) but when I went to use the sync fucntion in Ovi Suite again I was not given an option of (a) whether to merge or replace or (b) where to start sync from if not a merge. Consequently my phone and Ovi.com contacts lists filled up with duplicates through a botched merge. Where a contact was deleted in Outlook Express no Sync Conflict message appeared to ask me if I wanted to delete the same entry in Ovi.
When I deleted all the contacts in Ovi Suite and tried to sync again my Outlook Express contacts list was deleted! Thankful for the backup before I started this waste of a Sunday afternoon.
So basically, is it the case that if I want to use Ovi Suite and Ovi.com for contacts then I have to use Ovi.com as the master list and not my contacts list in Outlook Express on my PC? If the software simply merges data all the time how the heck am I meant to delete a contact from all three storage areas?
    Any advice appreciated.
    Bill

Well for anyones information. Syncing with ovi suite.
I have successfully got ovi suite working.
For those with problems this is what I did. I have vista.
    1. I uninstalled all programs from nokia.( ovi suite using the online uninstaller. Pc suite using the installed uninstall program.
then i ran pc suite cleaner.
    2. using search for nokia then using advanced search for all nokia folders remaining (important to use advanced search or you will miss some of the folders and files. Then deleted them. Some you may have to change the user permissions to delete them. It is important to delete these as they hold data and i think might be one of the conflicts stopping sync working.
    3. Delete any remaining files except bookmarks pics etc.
now there should be nothing on the pc.
Then download and run ccleaner. Cleaner and registry.
    Reboot pc
    Then download ovi suite.
A wizard might pop up but if not start ovi suite and connect your phone. I turned bluetooth off and used usb.
The phone will download settings. You can select pc suite on the sync settings in the phone. not ovi.com.
the program is good and worth the trouble. It saves your messages and contacts as well as syncing contacts and calendar with your required program, also bookmarks can be saved with firefox and explorer in your phone folder in favourites. It creates the folder. To transfer bookmarks from pc to phone ensure they are in this folder.
This took me a lot of reboots and time with a few calls to nokia and i am still waiting for their callback!!!
It also works fine on my xp computer too.

  • Outlook Express Won't Launch/Freezes Computer?

    I have a 5 yr old G4, running OS 9.1, Outlook Express 5.0.2
When I try to launch OE, the computer freezes (altho the cursor moves around, it can't do anything). The computer makes a sound of 4 drawn-out clicks (rasps) followed by 2-3 shorter ones. Then a an error message of Type 1 appears. The same thing had been happening with Simple Text for a couple of years (altho that said "Error of Type 113"), but we never really use it so it doesn't matter. I tried to open "Apple System Profiler" and the same thing happened today. Everything else seems to be working fine. Any thoughts, suggestions, help????
    Thanks.
Power Mac G4   Mac OS 9.1.x   Outlook Express 5.0.2

    Hi, Rodney -
With regard to Outlook Express, try this -
    1) Increase its Preferred memory allocation; adding 20 or 30 thousand, or even more, to its original Preferred amount is not excessive.
Article #18278 - Assigning More Memory to an Application
    2) Then compact its database files. To do that, hold down the Option key while launching Outlook Express. A screen should appear offering to compact the database files - okay that, and follow the prompts.
Re Apple System Profiler, try increasing its Preferred memory allocation - doubling the original Preferred amount should suffice.
Re simpleText, increasing its Preferred memory allocation may also help. Note, though, that SimpleText has a finite limit of how large a file it can handle - 32MB. Any file larger than that, even if in SimpleText format, will not be openable by SimpleText.
One solution for that which many folk have gone to is to use a replacement program. One such is SimpleEdit.
The computer makes a sound of 4 drawn-out clicks (rasps) followed by 2-3 shorter ones.
That can be worrisome. It can indicate the OS is finding it difficult to open a file needed by the program; an overly full drive; damage to the disk directory; or, worst case, physical damage to the drive, such as one or more bad blocks.
    • Difficulty in opening a file can be caused by the file having become damaged. This is not unusual particularly with preference files, and the solution for those is usually to throw away the appropriate preference file, then restart the machine. The next time a call is placed to use that prefs file a new one will be created with default settings.
The prefs file used by Apple System Profiler can be found 'loose' in the Preferences folder (in System Folder); its name is ASP Preferences.
Outlook Express uses at least two prefs files. One is named Outlook Express Prefs and is located loose in the Preferences folder. The other is named simply Preferences, and can be found in the account folder for the user account. OE 5 places that here - (hard drive) >> Documents >> Microsoft User Data >> Identities >> Main Identitiy >> Preferences. If you have created additional acccounts, there will be a separate folder for each in the Identities folder, each with its own Preferences file.
    SimpleText has no prefs file.
    • A too-full drive can result in extensive fragmentation of files, giving Finder a lot of grief when it tries to pull one together; it can also lead to erratic Finder behavior, including crashes and other events.
It is good practice to not let a drive get more than about 80 to 85% full; leaving the remainder unused allows room for files to grow normally, for Virtual Memory to use without incident, and for temporary files (such as are created during a printing operation).
    • Damage to the disk directory can best be checked for by booting the Mac to the most recent OS 9 Install CD available (one valid for that model), and running Disk First Aid from the Utilities folder on the CD. Although DFA is somewhat limited in what it can fix, its diagnostics are excellent.
If DFA finds somethig it can not fix, it would be time to use a stronger utility, one such as Alsoft's DiskWarrior or Micromat's TechTool Pro.
    • Physical Damage to the hard drive is more difficult to diagnose and fix.
If it is bad blocks, that can usually be fixed by doing a deep (zero-all-data) re-initialization of the drive, reformatting it as Mac OS Extended in the process. Once the re-initialization is completed, run the Test Disk item in Drive Setup's Function menu - doing so should map out any bad blocks.
    Using Drive Setup
Note - re-initializing and reformatting a drive will erase it, so be sure your data has been backed up before doing that.
    • If your drive was last formatted using Drive Setup on an OS 9.0.4 or earlier Install (or Restore) CD, that version of Drive Setup had a defect that could leave a drive vulnerable to incurring a wrapper error. The versions of Drive Setup that come on OS 9.1 and later Install CDs do not have that defect.
The version of Disk First Aid that comes with OS 9.1 and later install CDs can sometimes repair a wrapper error.
Alsoft's DiskWarrior (v. 2.x or later) can definitely repair a wrapper error. Note that the current versions of DiskWarrior (v. 3.x) boot to OSX - they have no problem repairing OS 9 volumes, but the machine should be OSX-ready before booting to that disk. If the latter is not the case, look for a v. 2.1 or v. 2.1.1 version of DiskWarrior.

    Pete
Outlook express will not run on win 7.  There is a similar free email client called Windows Live Mail that looks and feels like it.  Should you want to export your mail from OE let us know.

    Hi,
I have created a logo and added into the forms (10.1.3) using the look and feel option.
when i tried to run the application through the link to the hp-ux box through the Internet explorer(6.0.2900.5912) in the favorites folder, it works, i'm able to open multiple sessions and logo displayed al the time.
But, when i tried to click on the link i have it in the outlook express (2007) , it works first time without logo and second time it hangs.
Any body knows that what it cause............Thanks.

The sendmail functionality uses an api called mapi. As this api is not controlled by Acrobat it can be influenced by outside sources. This api can be expoited by viruses etc for DOS attacks. for this reason many of the virus scan software vendors have provisions in their software that will affect when mapi calles can be made.
As far as webmail is concerned there is no api for that program (there is no automation) so it is expected that the user will save the pdf and attach it to an email by hand. You will notice a dialog when the sendmail is executed indicating this (1st dialog that pops up).
    Hope that helps

  • Transfer emails from Outlook Express to Mail ?

Hi, I've been using Outlook Express on a PC for years for my emailing and internet etc, now I'd like to transfer the lot to Mail on my G4 (which was used as my workstation). So far I've had no joy in transferring my email archives, is it do-able ?

See if this is any help:
Kappy recommends a cheap (US$10) utility called Outlook2Mac which converts your proprietary Outlook files into mbox interchange format. See the discussion thread for a link to the web site.

  • Importing Outlook express folders into mail on intel imac ?

I was running outlook express on os 9.1 G3 and need to import the folders into mail on my fab new mac intel...
Any advice/help much appreciated as always
    Many thanks
    Steve

    Steve,
Your OE messages are in a folder called Identities within one called Microsoft User Data. A first step might be to copy the MUD folder or the Identities folder to a disk and transfer it to you new Mac's desktop.
A few years ago, I transferred my mail from OE on a G3 running OS 9 to my flat panel iMac running OS X. At the time I made use of running OE in Classic on my new iMac. Your Intel Mac will not run Classic so the approach will be a little different.
I've read of people being able to import the OE messages into Entourage on their new Mac and then getting them into Apple's Mail. If you have Office for Mac you can try this, or you can try it using the 30 day free trial of Office.
Until you complete the transfer, keep everything intact on your old Mac. Do not delete OE. And whatever you do, do not delete the MUD folder or the Identities folder!
    Post back,
    Steve M.
