Caller ID fails to identify numbers in my contacts 80-90% of the time after OS 6 upgrade

Ever since I upgraded to OS 6, my Bold 9650 has exhibited several issues, one of which is my Caller ID-capable phone no longer identifies calls that come in from phone numbers I have in my Contacts.  This is not consistent, but it fails the vast majority of the time.  This feature worked flawlessly prior to the OS 6 upgrade.  The one exception to this failure is for those contacts that are also identified as Facebook friends: those contacts will have their Facebook profile pic displayed the majority of the time, but probably about 20% of the time that too will fail to display properly.   The phone number always displays, so it's not that folks have suddenly blocked their phone numbers.  It's also not due to the calling area, as previous to this OS 6 upgrade I didn't experience this issue.   
Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, does anyone know of a resolution to this issue?

I uninstalled FB, got by the cold sweats from the withdrawal, and of course had no incoming calls for 2 days.  Played around with calling my own cell from my work and home phones with mixed results - my work phone was correctly identified by my Contacts name associated, but my home phone just showed as the number.  I was a bit dubious of the FB uninstall truly clearing out remenants of the app, too, as the logo still appears on the home screen, and I believe the FB profile pics remained on some contacts.  If you click on the logo, it prompts you to install FB, but still...
This morning I was prompted to download an update for OS 6, so I'm in the process of that now.  With all the problems I'm experiencing with the move from OS 5 to OS 6, I figured it can't get much worse (can it???). 
I'll report back on my findings.
Other issues I noticed from the OS 5 to 6 jump:
- Blackberry Messenger no longer scans QR codes (just beeps 3 times after a brief period of showing the code on the screen - no attempt to focus on the code).  Installed an independent QR scanner app, but it won't read a code, either.
- Verizon icon that used to show your running total of data usage no longer shows the data usage number.  I would go into the app, exit, and a number would be on it.  Later in the day, look at that icon again, and the number was gone once again.  It used to show all the time and automatically update the total throughout the day.
- Phone antenna fails to turn on sometimes when the phone turns on for the day via the auto on feature. 
Hoping this update may address some, if not all, of these items.

    NOW() returns the current date_time but TODAY() returns only the current date.
    So, if you didn't force an other format before inserting the formula,
    a cell containing = TODAY() defaults to
    date : xxxxxxx
    time : NONE
    It's the same if the cell contains = TODAY()-4

    Why this version of the system this layout problem while dialing been fixed yet?

    Open your Messages folder on the Torch.
    Press the Menu key (the BlackBerry logo key) and then choose Options.
    Now choose General Options.
    Scroll down to "Show Recent Contacts when Composing Email and turn that off.
    Now, your Torch will ONLY pull contacts from the Address Book, and not from addresses you've sent or received which are not saved to your Address Book.
    Is that what you need?
    That database of recent contacts is not something you edit.

    Since Oct. 24th 2014, calls to UK toll-free numbers +44500 have not been working. The message given by Skype is NUMBER NOT VALID. Does anyone know why? or who to speak to to report the problem? Thank you

    That generally means the area code at this time is unreachable via the Skype network.   I understand the range is going to be fully retired/replaced in the future but that's still a few years off.  This is more than likely a temporary setback for whatever reason though they may have had reasons to exclude it permanently.  It would be best to contact Skype Customer Service to inquire about it.  I personally have tried several 0500 numbers and received the same error for all of them.

  • I need an app that forces certain numbers to ring all the time (Similar to Auto Ring).

    I downloaded the Auto Ring app for my Galaxy S3, and it worked for a while, but it will no longer work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it still does not work. Has anyone used a similar app that works on the Galaxy S3?

    The Auto Ring app allows you to make a list of numbers that you want to ring all the time, even when your phone is on vibrate or silent. This makes it so you do not miss important calls. I want an app that does that, and that works on the S3.

    It sounds like you are unable to make any calls, but you can recieve them, and everything else seems to work fine. I recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you get that resolved, named:
    iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls
    Follow the steps below to resolve this issue. Please test after each step.
    Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
    Check your phone settings:
    Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
    Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.
    See if Call Forwarding is turned on: Tap Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
    Ensure that your software is up to date:
    Check for a carrier settings update.
    Check for an iOS software update. 
    Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
    If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
    If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.

    Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
    There are no localized service outages.
    Your account doesn't have a billing-related block.
    Your calls don't have errors on the carrier system.
    Restore the phone as new.
    If the above steps don't resolve the issue, go to an Apple Retail Store, carrier, Apple Authorized Reseller, or contact AppleCare to send the phone in for service.

  • Lync to Lync calls not working when users outside of network. But calls from Lync to external numbers do work.

    We are having the following issue: when our lync users are outside of our network, just connected to their home internet or a public WiFi  and not on VPN, they cannot place calls to other
    Lync users inside our network. They get a poor network connection message on the call window. But they are able to make calls from Lync to external numbers without a problem.
    Inside our network, Lync to Lync calls work perfectly fine, the same for calls from Lync to external numbers.
    Does anybody know what could be the cause of our issue? Perhaps I'm missing a setting on our Edge server. What should be the first thing I should check on my Lync servers?

    Have you opened up ports on your firewall from your internal clients to the edge on UDP/3478 and TCP/443?  This sounds like you might have a problem there.  Can you internal clients properly route to this subnet and resolve the pool name of your
    edge pool?

  • First call attempt fails with 12000; reason="Routes available for this request but no available gateway at this point"

    We've installed a new Audiocodes Mediant 1000B gateway for our customer.  They only have about 6 users enabled for Enterprise voice and using Lync for all calls.  They have an intermittent problem whereby the first call attempt to a number on the
    PSTN fails with 12000; reason="Routes available for this request but no available gateway at this point".  There is only one PSTN gateway installed.  All routes point to this gateway.  What I found initially is that the calls
    were failing after 10 seconds which is the default "failovertimeout" in the OutboundRouting.exe.config.  I found this post http://voipnorm.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/lync-2010-gateway-timeout-call-failures.html and
    changed the value to 20 seconds.  Subsequent failures failed after 20 seconds (the new value).  The interesting thing is that the second attempt even a couple of seconds later succeeds.  My Lync server event log has 46046 "A call to a PSTN
    number failed due to non availability of gateways." for the failed call and 46047 "A PBX gateway is now responding to requests after some failures." for the successful call moments later.
    My environment is Lync 2010.  A single enterprise edition Front End with collocated mediation.  The server is virtual and in a different physical location to the gateway.  The two sites are connected via a LES1000.  The RTT between the
    sites is very low so it isn't necessarily networking.
    In the Syslog output on the Audiocodes we don't see the call even reach the gateway.  It's likely that Lync has simply marked the gateway as down and doesn't route the first call.  Then it wakes up and marks it as up and routes the next call.
    Update wise I'm on 4.0.7577.183, 199 and 217 for those that are up to date and the only components that are behind say that 223 is available.  Those being Core Components, Lync Server, Conferencing Server and Web Components.
    As I said, this is intermittent, apparently doesn't happen for every user (which I don't buy), but is easily replicated on request.
    I definitely think changing the failovertimeout value has reduced the number of failures.  But realistically I don't want users sitting there for 20 seconds before their call fails.  Or 19 seconds for the call to route.
    I've found a few posts on this and similar issues.  I don't get the 25051 or 25052 errors.
    Any help gratefully appreciated.

    Thank you for your question. iTunes 11.1 is required to update to and sync with iOS 7.  If you are still running iTunes 10.6.3, I recommend trying to obtain the update by going to the iTunes menu and selecting Check for Updates.

    My phone displays numbers instead of contact names for incoming calls and text - how do I fix?  It used to display the names if there was a contact listed, now it just shows numbers regardless of whether or not the number corresponds to a contact name in the contact list.  Can anyone help?  I googled this problem and lots of folks have experienced it, however there is not a consensus for a resolution.

    Alexandribill, I have been having the exact same issue.  I got a new phone and restored my contacts.  If the # doesn't have the area code first then the name isn't shown.  I just added my husbands area code to my phone and called my phone from his and now his name shows up...Ugh, I have to go through and manually add the area code to all my contacts....
    I'd say Verizon needs to rewrite their program to include the area code in the restoring from backup process!

    I got this error when creating standby database at remote target server. 
    ORA-19505: failed to identify file "/backup/dxp1p/online/DXP1P_CF_c-2027711285-20131204-01"
    Here is what I did:
    1.   started the listener and created corresponding tnsnames entry at remote standyb server 
    2.  startup nomount to the standby database at remote server for an empty instance (instance name dxp1p).
    3.  All rman backups are in the /backup mount point at primary and the mount point is shared on the remote server as nfs.   So, whatever have in the backup we should be able to see and read from the remote as well.
    4.  Run the following at primary rman:
    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    backup current controlfile for standby;
    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    crosscheck backup;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    exit
    5.   Start the rman  command from primary after connected to the standby server, as the primary DB uses ASM and the standby DB uses file system for the database files:

    I used company regular script to login to standby instance as sys user from primary DB RMAN as oracle OS user and sys DB user.   We normally run this way for years.

    I have created one web dynpr application with interactive forms followed by saptechical.com, If i run the web dynpr application, it thrown an error

    I have checked standard prog. (FP_PDF_TEST_00) for checking ads connection, thats working fine. It shows a forms.
    But if i run my custome web dynpro application, it shows error.

    these also have to work in order to render interactive PDF inside a Webdynpro ABAP application.
    I assume:
    1. You do not have proper destination service configuration. (described in note: #915399)
    or:
    2. The credential is not properly installed into your ADS.
    Please ensure the credential is installed, the expiry date is visible and the J2EE engine was restarted after the credential has been installed.

    Hi, one of agents received incoming call and his call dropped within few seconds and error on CTIOS agent desktop was "CTI Warning: call has failed because of network interruption". I investigated and got info from icm database schema that this error is 26-U-Abort and caused due to network congestion. Network team shown the logs and no error regarding network found. What else could be the reason?
