Caller identity?????

good day
newbie on the BB using the BB Curve 8520 since 09.01.2010
is there any body who can tell me how to setup my caller identity - meaning to see who is calling me. all incoming calls are shown as unknown and i have correctly completed my contacts.
also how to increase the volume on incoming sms an email notifications.
please this is frustrating
thanks

Often, Caller ID is a 'feature' that your wireless company enables at their end - and depending on your Plan, is included or is available at an additional charge. If you think you should have it and its not showing up, call their Support to ensure its set up.
As for volume of various notifications, look on your Blackberry for Options > Profiles (Ring Tones) > Normal (Active) and then scroll to the applicable service and click. There you will be able to set the tone, vibe and volume. Once done, click the Back arrow > Save and then you should be good to go. Note there are individual settings to 'Out of Holster' and 'In Holster' - be sure to set both.
Hope this helps!

  • EJBException::No valid security context for the caller identity

    Hi,
    I was working with EJB and i had a basic doubt in security propogation from the web tier to EJB tier.
    I deployed an EJB on JBOSS app server and in that bean i was trying to get the caller principal object from the EJBContext and i was printing the name of the principal.
    System.out.println(ctx.getCallerPrincipal().getName());
    then i created ordinary EJB client which is a java class and when i invoked the business method i was getting the below error
    Exception in thread "main" javax.ejb.EJBException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: No valid security context for the caller identity
    at org.jboss.ejb3.tx.Ejb3TxPolicy.handleExceptionInOurTx(Ejb3TxPolicy.java:63)
    at org.jboss.aspects.tx.TxPolicy.invokeInOurTx(TxPolicy.java:83)
    at org.jboss.aspects.tx.TxInterceptor$Required.invoke(TxInterceptor.java:191)
    This error sounds meaningful but how will i set the security context from the java class. If it can be done then is this the same way that the security principal propogates from web tier to EJB tier.
    Thanks,

  • EJBHomeFactory and caller identity

    Currently I am passing the user identity when I create the InitialContext, and
    I access this user information during some processing in the EJB ( Entity/StatelessSession
    If I were to cache Home references, then who is the caller when a home.create()
    is invoked? Is there an implicit caller? ( doesn't sound right ) or is it the
    caller who had originally created this home reference?
    How can I associate a particular user with a home reference?
    Thx, Sonali.

    Thanks. What you mention sounds right. However, how does the method invocation
    know who the user is? If the client is outside weblogic and he asks a factory
    to give him a home reference, and then he invokes home.find() or home.create(),
    then where is his identity being passed in?
    Is there some standard that mandates this behaviour? I did not see anything in
    the ejb spec.

  • SessionContext contains wrong caller identity on cluster environment

    I have follwoing problem.
    I need to process first anonymous call to EJB from client and next calls should be not-anonymous.
    I create InitialContext with Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL and Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS set to value "anonymous". To make second call to EJB I close explicitly previous InitialContext and create new one passing real values in Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL and Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS
    If I work with standalone AppServers everything works fine but as I switch to Oracle AS cluster I SOMETIMES get from SessionContext.getCallerPrincipal() real value which was passed on client side to InitialContext and SOMETIMES I get this "anonymous".
    It looks like some kind of caching makes it wrong. But I have no idea in which direction to go. Can anybody help me?
    One remark to this: I get such behaviour even in the case if all calls from client go to the same server (I see it in rmi debug on client).

  • E63-not always showing caller identity

    strange thing, tried every setting on contact, but would show me all the time the callers identity, only the number. i tested with numbers saved on SIM and in phone, but not a chance.
    is there any trick to this? am i missing something here?
    thanks

    There are several threads continuing in this forum on the issue. You can search them, but what I understand is that the problem is caused by multiple entries of the same contacts.

  • Caller Identity problem on the 8900

    Hi - can anyone help me fix this ?
    Frequently - but mysteriously, not all the time - a call comes through with just the number displayed, even though the number is already in my contacts database. This happens randomly with different numbers.
    Even weirder, after the call when I look on the sent and received calls list (pressing the green handset button), it has correctly identified the number as one of my contacts.
    So why is my 8900 not displaying the contact name on my screen at the time when the call comes through ?
    I am sure that others have experienced this fault, but I cant find the relevant threads. Thanks in advance for your help.

    I have the same fault, the phone not displaying the callers name from my address book, but appearing correct in the call log.
    Tried a re-boot, fixed the fault, but not permanatly, intermittantly works
    The oly fix i have found to work is to swap the start of of the mobile number 07 with +447 (uk prefix)
    Only tried this yesterday, and all good since, but watch this space

  • NO_PERMISSION Exception when calling secured EJB-methods

    In WL6.1, I have an Ejb with secured methods. The (Swing) client application accesses the Ejb through rmi-iiop using the JDK1.3.1 Orb.
    Unfortunately, it seems that the caller identity (which was supplied in the InitialContext lookup) is not propagated
    to the server: any call to a secured method
    fails with a CORBA NO_PERMISSION Exception.
    Non secured methods work fine.
    Using the t3 protocol the program also works fine, but that would require
    the 25Mb weblogic.jar on all clients,
    which is unattainable for us.
    Any ideas how this situation can be corrected?

    I am still getting the NO_PERMISSION Exception when using "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory".
    We use Sun's JRE, version 1.3.1_01.
    Am I forgetting something?
    My code is as follows:
    InitialContext context = null;
    try {
    Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
    ht.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ht.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "iiop://localhost:80");
    ht.put(InitialContext.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "system");
    ht.put(InitialContext.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "system_password");
    context = new InitialContext(ht);
    Object objHome = context.lookup(EJB_NAME);
    MyHome myHome = (MyHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objHome, MyHome.class);
    MyRemote myRemote = myHome.create();

  • The icon for Norton Identity Safe has disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back on my toolbar.

    I use Norton which has a feature called "Identity Safe." In the old version of Mozilla, the icon for this feature was available on my toolbar. Now that I have converted to the latest version of Firefox, the icon has disappeared and I cannot figure out to get it back. I can still activate the Identity Safe by opening Norton, but I want to restore the shortcut.

    Symantec have made an update for their add-ons to work in Firefox 4, but they only listed them as compatible with Firefox 4.0, they need to update them to let them work in Firefox 4.0.1, they have indicated this will be happening soon. I installed a security program called Identity Finder whick requires a master password for Firefox on my laptop, which I like. Pure speculation, but maybe that Identity Finder program is deleting your browsing history which is how Firefox restores tabs and windows from the previous session. Check with technical support for that program or look at the manual.

  • Caller display won't work since i've swooped to BT

    I have a PANASONIC cordless trio phone set, caller display worked fine untill we swooped to BT Broardband and Phone package. I have checked the phone line without the filter still no display can anyone help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Cobra,
    It is possible the caller display facility hasn't followed you across from your previous service providor.
    You can check this by dialling *#234# this will tell you if the service is active (caller identity will be displayed) or not (caller identity will not be displayed).
    If not active try dialling *234# to activate, if the message says 'this service is not available' (or something along these lines) the the facitliy is not rented on your account and you will have to call BT to arrange or log on to BT.com to order through the net.
    The fault teams on 0800800151 can order this or you can call the sales teams directly on 0800800150.
    hope that clears it up for you :-)

  • Caller Display

    Hope some one can help.  Have had caller display for some time, bought a new phone and it will not work.  Reverted to old phone and caller display worked for a while and then stopped working.  We have taken both phones to friends who have caller display and caller display worked on both old and new phone.  Have tried #234# and it states caller identity will not be displayed.  Also answer phone will not work on either phone but work at friends. Have removed ASDL filter and installed i-plate with no effect. Phone at times rings intermittently. Have reported fault and automatic system says there is no fault on the line.  Any suggestions gratefully received.

    #234# disables so it will not be displayed,  dial *234# to enable it again.
    Summary
    CALLER DISPLAY may be switched on with the command *234#, you check it with *#234# and you switch it off with #234#.
