Callers cannot hear me on phone

I have a new BB 8330...less than 30 days usage.  It has been working fine.  However as of today, callers cannot hear me, as if the phone was on "mute".    I toggle the mute button on and off, but that has not resolved the problem of not being heard.   Any suggestions or ideas what I am doing wrong? 

This might seem simplistic but try it as it can do no harm.
For reasons known but to RIM they don't supply a dust plug for the headphone/headset jack.  It is quite common for a bit of debris to find its way into the jack.  The device then "thinks" you have a wired headset plugged in and audio is sent to the headset even though it is wrong.
Hold your Curve firmly with the opening facing down and either using a jet of canned air or your breath blow across the opening.  Do this two or three times.  After doing that holding your device firmly tap the opposite side gently while the opening is still facing down.
All too frequently we slip the good old BB in a pocket and pocket debris gets into the opening.  Try it.  It might just solve your problem.  When I was a forum administrator for another forum this was a common issue and solution.

  • Callers cannot hear me after Ios8 update

    After I updated to iOs8, i immediately began getting a message that this charger or accessory is not compatible with this Iphone. However, nothing was plugged in! After a few hours the message stopped. But now callers cannot hear me, although I can hear them. Callers are able to hear me when I put the speakerphone on, which is not an acceptable solution to the problem, i do not want to use speaker phone for every call. I have try the following
    - Power the device off then back on
    - Hard reset the device using home/sleep buttons
    - Checked the headset jack for debris
    - Adjusted the volume several times while on a test call
    - reset the network settings
    - toggled noise cancellation option while on a test call
    Probably more than what's listed, i've been non stop for more than 24 hours! I have googled for a solution, but I am not seeing others with the same issues as mine after updating to iOS8, some have had the same issue with previous updates of different iOS versions. And I have tried all of the solutions that they were given. I feel like I have tried everything.
    I do not want to downgrade back to iOS7, I'm not sure I even can.
    So, any other suggestions? Should i just take the Device to my local Apple store and let them sort it out? I have an Iphone 5s that is only a few months old (probably less than 6)

    If never jailboken/hacked, restore using iTunes, first also restoring a backup and if needed as new (without using a backup)

    Today I connected my Iphone to my Itunes for the first time in a long time, and incoming callers cannot hear me.  I can call them back, and then they hear me.  The phone is not on mute and the volume is up.  I update to 5.1 and still having the same problem.  any suggestions?

First, I'll dial out and the I hear absolute silence but my phone indicates that it's sucessfully calling out (oh...and the party on th other line can hear me but I can't hear them). I thought my phone wasn't connecting to the caller. I'll call again and but this time the callers cannot hear me but I can hear them perfectly. I hang up and make repeated attempts and then reset my phone. It works but then I have the same problem with my next call. I don't want to reset my phone before every call! Very, very irritating.
    Is anyone else having these specific problems???

    The phone was dropped, is this fixable.  All other speakers work, music, recording, etc.

    i have setup a unity connection for all the users, PSTN  callers cannot hear user default greetings of the user voice mail , i have enabled RTP from unity connection server to voice gateway which are in different subnet but  CUCM and UN are in 1 subnet.

    Anyone else can put some shade on the query above. The calls gets transferred to the unity connection I can see the call duration keeps on increasing on the mobile phone, but I cannot hear the unity connection user greeting nor whatever I speak it drops as an voice mail to the user mailbox.

    A network extender? Not sure what that is.. Sounds like it might help here at home.. But what about outside the house? At work, the store, or just out on the road?
    I'm hopeing this is something that can get fixed.. I hate to think I wasted all this money on something that doesn't work.. Does apple have a return police?
    I think I'll try getting an appointment at the apple store to see if they can fix this issue.

Are you still under warranty or have insurance on the device? Is their any damage to the phone? If none, then you should be able to get a replacement device. You can try to do a factory reset to see if the issue is possibly stemming from an internal application issue, but more then like it is from the speaker. Keep us updated on this information so we can figure out the next steps to take.

    I have an LG Revere and callers say they cannot hear me and my voice sounds very low and distant.  What is the problem?

    Thanks for answering.  The phone is less then a year old and I don't keep it in a case. The problem started suddenly on Thursday, 12/4.  I think I'm going to take it to the Verizon store in my area and hope they will be able to resolve the issue or replace the phone.  I'm 'old school' and a flip phone is all I need.  Not interested in a smart phone or expensive data package.
