Callers hear echo.  Hardware problem, or carrier problem?

About half the time when someone calls me, they complain of a severe echo. I never have audio problems hearing the caller.
Is this a problem with AT&T, or is my hardware defective?

There are 2 kinds of echoes. I have experienced them both. THe rarer of the 2 is the ATT-faulted echo. This is just a bad connection, and it has happened only a few times in the past couple of years for me. It has also happened with other carriers.
The more common echo is the Apple-faulted echo, where if the volume is all the way up, the mic will pick up the audio and repeat it back to the caller. Turn down the volume and the echo will disappear. There really should be some kind of noise cancellation or this issue but I guess Apple has no interest in implementing one (as it has been happening since the first 2G iPhone).

    Sorry. What I mean is I selected the SL boot up in the start up panel and it would not boot into the cd. The CD rom sounds like it just keeps reading with it slowly loading from grey screen to blue screen to the Block screen. Almost like it is booting into normal mode from the hard drive.
    What I can't understand is why it runs fine is Safe mode?
    Also why do I get a " this disk cannot be used to start up your computer" message on my hard drive when trying to install Lion in safe mode? Well why not it's the only hard drive in the computer?

    My service provider is Bell Mobility. I switched phones because my old phone broke, and I had a spare which is a Blackberry Pearl 8130. There is a few issues that I noticed with this phone. On my plan I have unlimited txt message and unlimited video and picture messaging. On the Pearl I can't send any pictures.. When I txt the character limit is 140, which is very frustrating, yet people can send me multiple txts, and the phone recognizes it, (i.e in the top corner it will say 1/2 and ect) But the Pearl will not, so I can receive multiple txts but I can't send them? I looked on the forums here, and everyone says it's the carrier service, but my old phone could send multiple txts! (and it wasn't a smartphone either), but my pearl won't let me? My pearl even is a Bell phone too. So my question is: Is this really a carrier problem? or the model? but yet people with the same model CAN send multiple txts

    Possibly, but it's strange you get reception elsewhere. By identical, I assume they're all on AT&T, not Verizon or Sprint. If so, then I'd expect the same reception from yours that theirs get, unless you've got a metal case that could be interfering or you're just plain radioactive.
    Try Settings>General>Resets>Reset Network Settings, and see if it makes a difference.

    If you buy a phone from Apple online from USA you must have a credit card with a US address and have it shipped to that same address. If you chose a carrier it will be locked to that carrier. You must buy an UNLOCKED phone to use outside of the US, for the unsubsidized price. For unlocked phones you don't need to choose a carrier. the iPhone 5 is not yet available unlocked; only the 4S is sold as unlocked by Apple.
    If you buy from the US Apple site you must return it to the US for warranty service.
    LTE is the "next generation" cellular network standard. It is supported in the US by Verizon and AT&T.

    Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

    Now I got carrier problem: the phone tries to find a "phone service" but nothing appens. The only result is NO SERVICE.

    ok i called the technical support and they had me "reset the network settings" within "settings" "general" "reset" .
    then after it rebooted, i turned it off and popped out the sim card.
    put it back in and turned the phone on. after a few minutes the service was back and i havent had any problems since.

    My computer listed as having failed the VRAM test as well, but when I installed the Tech Tool software, it gave me the warning that the results of the test were not yet reliable for 10.5 and it might not test correctly. I've had none of the problems the the VRAM failure listed, and assume it's just an issue with the new OS and Tech Tool not being on the same page yet. PS: I love my Mac...but don't we all?

  • Callers hear lots of noise

    Help....All callers hear lots of noise if I am standing in the slightest breeze or if my vehicle is traveling more that 30mph. It makes no difference if am using the handset, speakerphone or bluetooth. I can hear them fine but the wind makes it impossible for people to hear me and callers hear an awful grinding noise when I am in my vehicle.
    Any suggestions?

    thanks for your help. I treid the steps you told me. "RGB Color" was already checked as well as "convert to SRGB". I tried to convert to adobe RGB and also removed the profile and saved a new JPG each time - with no difference, unfortunately.
    Could it maybe have something to do with "Grayscale" since it is a black&white picture?
    I'm very confused with that whole subject. The problem is that the pics aren't saved with all that noise in them, it's the picture viewer simply deceiving us. And most people use that software to watch their pics that way..... I can already imagine the complaint from the woman in the pics....
    I hope you have some more advice for me.

    Those are called Ringback Tones by AT&T. Other carriers may use a different name for them. If your carrier is AT&T, here is a link with FAQs about their Ringback Tones. If you carrier is not AT&T, then contact them to find out what is available.

    its not related to any hardware because last year april i got replacement new phone from apple and i maintained it well...!

    Probably apps running in the background are causing this, sometimes Mail get's stuck connecting to the mail server, or some social media app like Facebook can also be a reason for prolonged background activity.
    Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
    If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:

    Please advise of any solutions, applications, settings, workarounds, etc.  I don't want clients to hear a different ringtone when I'm outside of the U.S.

    The only thing I know of that could change what callers hear would be something like Ringback Tones but, once again, they are a carrier feature and wouldn't work in Mexico.
    There are no apps or settings on the phone that could do what you want as, until the call connects, your phone isn't really involved in the process.
    I guess people will just find out your on vacation.
