Calling 00800 Numbers on BT Landline

Hi guys,
A quick query.
I was going to call a business r.e. an electronics repair. I noticed that the contact phone number starts 00800 (note, not 0800).
I've had a quick look online and apparently this pre-fix is a 'universal freephone number' (http://www.teleforwarding.com/business/00800-freephone-numbers/). However, many webpages I've visited show that people were charged for phoning these numbers. It seems fairly inconsistent and depends on their carrier.
I'm on a BT Landline contract - will calling this number be free, or will I be charged?
Thanks

Hi David6754 and welcome,
I have searched the forum and the only answer I could find was in this link.

EDIT.   this is a more recent answer from elsewhere.

  • Can Skype video call Skype numbers?

I live in Hawaii and there are no Skype numbers here. I haven't used Skype since 2008. My question is: can I call Skype numbers using just the video feature available to Hawaii residents? I want to call UK Skype numbers and Mainland USA Skype numbers. Can I do this?

you can use Skype to make AUDIO-ONLY calls to landlines and mobile numbers anywhere in the world
such ougoing calls from Skype to the 'regular' phone network are known as SkypeOut calls, and they require either sufficient Skype Credit (to pay-as-you-go), or a suitable Skype calling subscription, which you can learn about by clicking here Skype subscription

  • Calling 800 numbers

We are RV'S and to find an land line to make 800 numbers is hard. Why are they but aganst your min.  specialy when checking on your bills etc. Any land line phone you can use and it's free, why not moble?

Thank you for inquiry. Adding to what was stated, there is a difference between the landline service and your wireless service on how calls are process. Since your wishing to call 800 numbers, these calls use airtime like any other call. However, the 800 number to Verizon Wireless customer service is free. If you call the 800 during off peak time(using unlimited nights and weekends) then those calls to 800 numbers would also be free. Also if you have a single calling plan of 900 minutes you have the option of 5 free Friends and Family numbers; or if you have a family share plan of 1400 minutes, you have the option of 10 free Friends and Family numbers. You can add the 800 numbers to part of your Friends and Family numbers. For more information on Friends and Family, please use this link: http://support.vzw.com/information/friends_and_family.html

  • Caller identification with the existing landline in the UK

Can I set up caller identification with the regular landline in the UK? I've tried it and It says it's sending me an SMS but then nothing happens

Hi, coachrw, and welcome to the Community, Not that I am aware of.  Caller ID numbers on Skype can be either a Skype Number or a verified mobile number, such verification process for a mobile number requiring an SMS message.  Please contact Skype Customer Service if you still do not receive the SMS verification to your mobile number. Regards,Elaine

  • How do you call 0900 numbers on iphone?

how do you call 0900 numbers on iphone? it keeps saying that i cant call it- is there a code or anything?
    im on vodafone

  • IPhone 4 does not recognize caller phone numbers

In my address book (sync with Outlook) i store phone numbers only in full world standard like this
    +996 543 918243 - Kyrgyzstan
    +7 945 6752345 - russia
    +66 834 7653472 - thailand
    and on and on...
I travel a lot. And when I am in kyrgyzstan i can call to full numbers mo problem, but when I get incoming call the number in detected as
    0 543 918243
    instead of
    +996 543 918243
It trims country code. And this caller is not recognized in my address book. I would change all phones in address book to this format if it is only the case. But then I'll have another case that i cannot call those numbers from other countries and those numbers nor recognizable in other countries too.
Before iPhone I had Sonyericsson Xperia x1. i know iPhone s much better, they are not even comparable but this small feature was there. It recognized all the numbers correctly.
Is it possible that you implement this tiny but very helpfull feature in next iOS update?

    I have noticed similar fenomenon.
I might have a contact stored as 040123456, but due to telephone operator when they dial me they show up as 00040123456, two leading 00's.
    Iphone won't recognize this.

  • Cannot call certain numbers - says "account not validated"  Why??

When I call some numbers - local, often-used numbers, sometimes it will say 'this account cannot be validated.  If you are a Sprint customers, call...  If you have another provider, contact them...   This also happens with house phone.

        Hi gaylou,
That indeed sounds shocking! We always want your calls to process correctly. Let's take a closer look. What device are you using? What zip code are you in? Do you recall if you're in an extended network? Is your homeline serviced by Verizon Wireless or Verizon Communications? Please keep us posted, thanks!

I am currently in Cameroon, Africa and after arriving here, I added Global services to my plan in hopes to be able to use my phone to call local numbers.  When I dial local numbers in Cameroon, with or without the country code, the call fails.  I suspect it may be that the phone is 3G and this area only supports 2G.  Help!

  • Can I call two numbers at the same time on facebook?

Can I call two numbers at the same time on facebook?

thanks for your answer. Yes indeed HTML widgets run only full screen (snif snif). I consider this as a "distinguishing treatment".
One solution  i read !!!!! was to create through keynote a countdown clock, to export to quicktime move and to imported at iBA predefined widgets. of course this is not the solution i need.
So, in order to have at the same widget and run together a count down clock and a preview test (20 questions)  i must
1)"hack" the preview widget and insert a countdown clock
    2) create a preview test using iAD.....
    thanks again

Pay no attention to iinami, the amount of replies to people saying their handsets must have been jailbroken everytime iTunes throws out an error is tremendous. (Clearly you don't need to have any real knowledge to get to level 3 on these forums, let's hope apple's geniuses know a lot more than some of their customers.)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Solution below.
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Phone is malfunctioning, voice command comes on and calls random numbers or plays Ipod

Phone is malfunctioning, voice command comes on and calls random numbers or plays Ipod

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring from backup
    - Restoring to factory defaults/new iPod
Are you using the headphone/mic?  If so sometimes sweat/moisture in the controls can make the iPod do strange things.
What number are you looking for?
If les than a year old, the Apple warranty still covers it.

Hey brother, I got an email back from customer service.
"We understand that you wish to add your Google Voice number as your caller ID for your Skype account. We are here to clarify this concern.
It is not possible to set up your Google Voice number as your caller ID in Skype. We recommend that you use Skype Number or a mobile number as your caller ID."

  • So i sent 2 PXTs to someone and it came up on their phone from 2 different numbers and none of them mine. I called those numbers and they were just normal people and they had no idea what had happened. How did this happen?

Both phones were iPhone 4s and everyone was with different carriers.

Simple process. If an iPhone go to the Apple Store and not Verizon
the phone from Verizon will be a refurbished device and not new unless under the 14 day worry free guarantee
    good luck

  • US iPhone 3G adds a "+1" to US caller ID numbers - annoying!

Anybody have a fix for this one? I had to do a complete restore to software 2.0.2 and now when I receive calls from numbers not in my address book, they are formatted like this: +1 (555) 555-5555.
    Thanks...

That the way it is. It's not fixable. Learn to live with it.
