Help! I wa nt to take a black and white photo and make the flower the only thing that has color. Is that an option with lightroom? I also want to make graphic watermarks. Do i need photoshop? Is there a download i can purchase for my lightroom??

Yes, you can use Edit Watermarks to set up as many watermark presets as you need, and then you assign one to each export job. I wanted to clarify one thing though. You can definitely use the Lightroom watermark editor to import and apply a graphic watermark such as a transparent PNG, so if you already have one, you can just bring it in and set it up. But if you need to create the graphic watermark file itself, you do need Photoshop to do that.

Calling all Lightroom wizards - aka a converter for all seasons!

I have been using Lightroom since b2 and absolutely love it, but deep down there has always been a little part of me that believes it could do RAW conversions better.
THE ISSUE:
I know that for some images one converter works better than another, but i am beggining to think that during autumn (or fall, for my american cousins!) I will have to do all conversions in capture NX.
Take a look at this link showing two images, one from NX with lovely rusty reds, yellows and browns, the other my best attempt to replicate the colours in Lightroom.

No matter how i try and tweak the image in lightroom (and i have tried every permutation i know) i cant avoid getting muddy greens in the darker areas of the long grass, where NX gives lovely reddish browns. I know different converters start off with different 'looks', but i would have thought it possible to get nice deep reds in the shadows in Lightroom, but i am at the point where i now beleive it is impossible to replicate the wonderful colours i can get in NX.
THE CHALLENGE:
If you think i'm talking out of my backside (*** - us), or would just like to show me the error of my ways, i have provided the .nef file on the link below. If you can replicate the colours in the NX version you will never want for a drink in London ever again*

I dont want to get into discussions about which rendering people prefer, that is purely subjective. The issue here is that Lightroom doesnt seem to be able to render an image in the way i would like, and lets face it, i am only asking for certain colours, its not like this should be a round trip to PS for 'special' editing or anything!

I appreciated David's posting the whole image at his site. I do concur with John about the green fringeing on the guy's forearm. In this situation, are we talking about limitations of the CCD color reception and the additive nature of the algorithms needed to replace what is never recorded? I use an X3F-based chip camera (SD-10 and Polaroid x530). I've been finding some irregularities (i.e. brighter quadrant than another) in sensor sensitivity, in the case of the SD-10, as I've been documenting Moroccan-weaved carpets (been using my old, Kodak gray/color card to calibrate).
I have started to delve into the development process of LightRoom and have been trying to work at getting accuracy in the color, too. This discussion will greatly help me in isolating the variables and hone in on the essentials.
The neutral in the cloud, it seems, will be our only objective marker to help us get as close to reality as possible, since there is no other known value available (e.g. a good patch of green, a gray card, or the revealed palms of our friend in the picture) . These other tweaks will help us with the subjective aspect of the image and help convey the shock, awe, warmth, beauty and feeling our audience (us?) will come to appreciate (this "feeling" is where marketing, advertising, and presentation thrive).
It sounds like we're right back to the color space issues we had to deal with between the celluloid, camera, and paper! Color and light are back as our capricious lovers! So many variables to contend with when we chase the holy grail of the ultimate image, aren't there!?
All I wanted to do, here, was to find out where I could submit an icon idea for LightRoom (the other one is a bit static - LR) and I got stuck into this fascinating thread! I wonder no more where all my time goes!!

Calling all script experts - Wierd problem with a previously perfect script

As script which used to work fine is now causing me big problems.
The line that is causing the problem is highlighted in the script editor as:
tell application "Finder" to set file_List to every file of entire contents of master_Folder -- Obtains all related files.
On running the script I get the following message:
Finder got an error: Can't make every file of entire contents of alias "Atlas Mac-Mini:Users:design:Desktop: TESTpictures - for script:Landscape copy:" into type reference.
As I said the script used to work fine, A couple of members of this forum have tried to rewrite the script for me (thanks to them) but I'm still gettig the same message. I'm wondering is there something wrong with my system (which otherwise works fine).
I'd appreciate any help and advice on what may be going wrong.

Hello RaymondTomin,
I don't see any reason for Finder to throw such an error in the said line. Perhaps something is wrong in your system.
Try the following test scripts. If they fail on any folder you choose, I'm afraid something is surely wrong in your system, not in your script code.
(If they fail, create new user account and try them in it to narrow down the problem cause. Also try repairing disk and/or repairing permissions.
And it might help as well to clear some caches by using, e.g. Onyx:

Calling all Mac Expert's For your Help!!!

When Logging onto my Mac why do I have to click twice on the icon to open the password box. From the beginning, when ever I leave my Mac for any period of time I log out. It is then set to sleep after 20 min. After returning I touch ESC and the Log on window opens I have the Eagle as my icon on the Log on window. Sometimes it opens the password box after 1 click but 98% of the time I have to click twice. I went to the local Apple store & tried it on there MacBooks and it works on 1 click. They told me that there were no adjustments for this issue and they did not know why this was happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

John makes a very good point on actually **** the work vs instructing other on doing it. What is your level of expertise with Photoshop? Image #1 would be rather straight-forward, but probably due to an acetate overlay, or maybe a spill, Image #2 would be a lot more work. I can recommend a couple of good books on restoring older photographs.However, some of the techniques in them are pretty advanced. If one is not already familiar with PS, they could easily be frustrated and lost.
Next, it is not a wise idea to post your e-mail address in any public forum. There are 'bots, that crawl the Internet, just looking for such. If one needs to give access to e-mail, it's best in their Adobe Forum Profile, or listed something like this: infoAThuntphotoDOTcom. The 'bots will not see that, and almost everyone know that AT=@ and DOT=. For you security, you might want to "mung" your e-mail address in a reply to your original post. You cannot edit an original post (but can a reply, so long as no one has replied to you), but the MOD's can do it for you. I would post a reply to your original post, find a way to restate your e-mail address (in case someone has a fix for you), and then report your OP for "Abuse." In that screen's drop-down, choose "Personal Info." That will flag it for the MOD's to correct and save you tons of spam. I'd do this for you, but then if you did not mung the e-dress, others would be lost. That's why I suggest that you do it yourself.
Let us know about your PS expertise, and someone can definitely step you through the processes. If you are not familiar with the program, it'l all be useless jabber.

We have a COPA cube running in BWQ right now , a request came in to add a new field to COPA .
The field was added to the COPA table . I read somewhere that if we have to add a new field to COPA datasource , we have to delete and create a new one.
Is that a true state , if yes why is that so , if no then can some one give me the steps.

Signal is strong and call quality (me hearing the other) is still very good but it looks as if I’m going on mute while I’m not muting my iPhone. When dropping the call and re-dialing it works fine again. It’s a brand new iPhone 5S but it now happened already 4 or 5 times in 2 days.
It feels like a hardware/iOS problem and not a network issue. It happend with iOS7.03 but I just see 7.0.4 is available so will install that one now.

If you are using Apple's Mail app 6.5 is the latest version irrespective of what a previous poster says. It does sound though that you are using a gmail account online via a web browser. Please confirm and fill in missing information.

You can all have independent AppleIDs for iCloud or iMessage etc, but share the same one for iTunes Store / AppStore purchases.

After a recent update, the Bookmarks menu has an extra folder called "All Bookmarks" which appears to be a copy of the bookmarks. It is causing problems and how do I fix it?

I recently updated Firefox. The Bookmarks menu shows a new menu item called "All Bookmarks". It appears to be a copy of the bookmarks. When I try to add a new bookmark, the All Bookmarks folder is the only one shown in the dialog. I tried deleting the All Bookmarks folder, but then nothing is shown in the dialog when I try to add a new bookmark.
If I do add a new bookmark, it is put under the All Bookmarks folder and does not show up under the top-level item I want it under. Any ideas about what I can do to fix this.
The update went normally without my intervention.

I was able to fix the problem after following the bookmark backup and restore procedures on the following page:

Calling all Dell L501X owners! [Solved]

Calling all Dell L501X owners! Specifically the i7 with Nvidia GT435
Can anyone comment on if they are having any issues running dual monitors with KDE?
My issue is that the 'org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper' is called randomly and switches the displays LVDS + DP1 between cloned and singular when I've had it set to extended via both TwinView and randr.
I'm now running XFCE without problems but its bugging me that I can't use KDE.
My initial post was placed here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=162545 but I have created this to try and find where the peculiarities lie. I'm connected to a Dell U2311 monitor via DisplayPort

Problem fixed now as mentioned in other post. Seems that it doesn't like the function keys been set to default as opposed to the media keys in the BIOS settings. Hope this helps someone in the future. Surprised no-one else has run across this problem.
If anyone know of a fix for this would be appreciated. Save me from doing yoga with my fingers when trying to do simple keyboard shortcuts. Currently using latest Dell BIOS "A04" (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/ … erId=K5CNF)

Call all instances of a symbol

Hej,
i need to place 10 different kinds of symbols, a hundred times each on my stage. Theses symbols have the same shape, but different colors. I need to filter them out in a tiny top-menu.
So, if i click e.g. on a red circle, i want all non red symbols to set there opacity to 0.5.
It could be simple if i place all red symbols into a container "$color-symbols" and set the opacity to them. But that is not possible, because I need to place each symbol manually. And if they are childs of another symbol, drag and drop is horrible.
Now i am wondering if it is possible to call all symbols on stage that are instances of a symbol in my library.
And is there a nice way to call "all-other-colors" instead of
sym.$("color-1").animate({opacity:0.5},500);
sym.$("color-9").animate({opacity:0.5},500);
sym.$("my-own-color").animate({opacity:1},500);
on every button on stage?

i use the classes to specify a target url for each symbol.
For Example:
I have three red symbols and three blue symbols.
The classes for the red-ones are:
33451, 56789 and 45678
for the blue ones:
983, 4, 1002
Inside of my symbols i have a script:

If i find another way to put a specific ID (and it must be a number) on to each Instance, i could use the way you describe.
Because your idea is to use the class-names, there is no way to call all instances of a given symbol?
Is it possible to use wildcards for my array?
So i could name them "red-33451#1", "red-56789#2", "red-45678#3". And cut out everything between "-" and "#".
But remember that i need to place a few hundreds of them, which isn't fun. And if i need to insert one later or if i delete another one, i need to verify all my functions.

Has ANYONE got the Cover Flow view working with this card?
If you have you have what did you do (if anything)?
I've already tried:-
* the latest Matrox drivers
* the latest DirectX
* ensuring that Hardware Acceleration is at Full
* uninstall & re-install iTunes
* install latest Quicktime before re-installing iTunes
P4 2GHz, 1GB RAM Windows XP Pro SP2; Matrox G550; Dual screen

At home, I have a Matrox Parhelia and the cover flow mode works great. I have a G550 in my work computer but I don't have any music local on the hard drive. I use my iPod Photo as axteranal HD to play via iTunes. So, cover art doesn't show up.
However, I have brought to work some hummingbird videos that took last week and added them to the Movie section in Itunes on my Work PC. So, I tried cover flow in the movie mode. It looks awful! Each picture is made up of little pictures in a 18x9 mosaic. I can even see though the gaps where there are grid lines. I don't see this at home with the Parhelia.
I have the latest everything installed as well. I'm running WinXP SP2. Have you found a solution?
