Calling all Matrox Millenium G550 graphics cards...
Has ANYONE got the Cover Flow view working with this card?
If you have you have what did you do (if anything)?
I've already tried:-
* the latest Matrox drivers
* the latest DirectX
* ensuring that Hardware Acceleration is at Full
* uninstall & re-install iTunes
* install latest Quicktime before re-installing iTunes
P4 2GHz, 1GB RAM   Windows XP Pro   SP2; Matrox G550; Dual screen

At home, I have a Matrox Parhelia and the cover flow mode works great. I have a G550 in my work computer but I don't have any music local on the hard drive. I use my iPod Photo as axteranal HD to play via iTunes. So, cover art doesn't show up.
However, I have brought to work some hummingbird videos that took last week and added them to the Movie section in Itunes on my Work PC. So, I tried cover flow in the movie mode. It looks awful! Each picture is made up of little pictures in a 18x9 mosaic. I can even see though the gaps where there are grid lines. I don't see this at home with the Parhelia.
I have the latest everything installed as well. I'm running WinXP SP2. Have you found a solution?
Thanks,
Steven

  • D10 freezes with NVS290 and 2 x Matrox T30 PCI graphic card

    Hi,
I have a problem with D10 that have NVS290 as a standard graphic card and then 2 x Matrox T30 PCI graphic.
I have updated to the most recent BIOS and still my system freezes. It has been testes on Dell and HP workstation and it;s working well.
Can you please help me to find out possible root cause
    Thanks

if i'm understanding this correctly, you have an NVS 290 in a PCI-e x16 slot and two matrox T30s in the PCI slots.   i highly doubt this configuration is supported as the D10 doesn't like to have different models graphics cards installed.
when exactly does the D10 freeze?   will it boot past POST?   does is freeze in the OS?   if so, what OS are you using?
have you tried it with just the two matrox cards installed and not the quadro?   if so, what was the result?
if it doesn't work with the two PCI cards installed without the NVS 290 then you'll either have to source a second NVS 290 to drive your displays or one or two NVS 440 or 450 cards to handle everything.

  • Matrox M series graphics cards

I am thinking about buying an M9125 card from the new range of Matrox M series cards. The details are here:
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/graphics_cards/m_series/m9125pciex16/
I have tried without success to find a review of this series and of the card I am interested in particular. Nor can I find any mention of it or its performance in a user forum anywhere. My display is a NEC2690 (26") running at a resolution of 1920x1200. I don't game and just want a new card for PS and Corel Painter work. I have CS3 and will probably move to CS4 idc. I also want a card that is passively cooled.
I'd be grateful if someone here would please look at this card and advise me whether this is a reasonable choice for Photoshop etc. It is expensive for what it is - especially as I don't run multi-displays - but allowing for all that, will CS3 etc be happy with it, please?
    Thanks
    David

I bought an M9125. IQ is fine as expected and it works happily with CS3 and with my 26" NEC2690 display. I had some trouble loading a calibrated (Eye-One Display 2) profile after installing the Matrox driver, but eventually sorted it out. The software is rudimentary after Nvidia (eg you cannot get temp read outs) but functional. Would I recommend it? - IQ is ok but it's expensive for what you get and given the basic accompanying software. But overall - no complaints and Matrox tech support were helpful.

  • Graphics Card for Lightroom and also CS2 and Maybe CS3

Hi. I am still using a PC I build about 3 years ago with a ASUS P4PE mother board. It has been very good but I am wondering if it is best to now change to a later PC or, upgrade.
I have used 1GB Ram and just got another IGB to install, but my real concern is with the Graphics Card. At present I have a Matrox Millenium G550 which as I recall has just 32MB Ram. At the time this was considered one of the best, if not the best card for 2D Images. However, I now see 256 and 512 Ram cards as norm, but they always refer to being cards for games. I never have and never will wish to play any games on a PC. So advice needed please, what is considered the best Graphics Card for Photoshop CS2 and now Lightroom?
Incidently my Processor is just a P4 2.66 this has served me well so far, but!! I maywell get another PC but for now I feel I just want to try the best upgrades I can.
This is my first post here and look forward to your answers and advice.
    All the best, Ron dps.

The high-powered graphic processors being sold today are fantastic for games but offer zero improvement for digital photo editing. What you have is more than enough. Increasing your SDRAM to 2GB will help the most.

  • Purchased Radeon 4650 VisionTek graphics card from Dell to update Dell Inspiron 580 -- won't work

I recently called Dell to determine what graphics cards were compatible with my computer and was told a VisionTek DMS59 4650 would be the right hardware to enable me to use two new monitors with HDMI and DP ports.
The ports on the card were a bit of surprise..they needed 3 adapters to get from what was there to what I wanted. No telling how the signal changes across that interface.
I installed the card according to instructions. I did not see an additional pin for extra power. I disabled the drivers for my existing card--I didn't want to uninstall everything for fear I would completely lose the ability to plug anything in and see a screen. I tried deleting the grapics card from the bios but there were no bios options for doing that.
I called the "let us help you install this" hotline on my receipt only to be switched over to hardware support at Dell where I got bounced back and forth from in warranty to out of warranty groups only to be told I had to call the graphics card manufacturer and that the helpline was in error.
I am getting ready to return the card.
    Maybe someone has a solution.

  • Premiere Elements 9 crashes with multiple NVIDIA graphics cards under Windows 7

I've just installed Premiere Elements 9 and found that it will not run at all with multiple NVIDIA graphics cards active under Windows 7.  Per all the other discussions, I updated the NVIDIA drivers and Quicktime support to the latest versions.  (NVIDIA version 260.99).  I have both a 9400 GT and an 8400 GS installed, to support multiple monitors.  They both use the same driver.  The PRE 9 organizer will run, but as soon as I create or load a project it quickly crashes.
On a long shot I disabled the 8400 GS card in the Device Manager and now I can run PRE 9.  Of course this means giving up one of my monitors.  Any other ideas?

Over in the Premiere Pro area (or maybe it was in the Hardware section... didn't pay a lot of attention 'cause it really didn't matter to me) I read a message about using two nVidia cards with no problems (other than no dual-card SLI support)
I **think** that was with two SAME model nVidia cards
And, of course, PPro is completely different code, so PreEl may simply not work with two nVidia cards

  • Use of graphics card with core install

    Hi,
We have a sun sparc server that has the solaris core installation. We run our Jrun application server on this machine. We would like to use a mapping software called Mapxtreme that needs a graphics card on the server. Can I use a graphics card without upgrading the core Solaris OS installation.
    Thanks,
    Sreeni

Well first the limit for the device is 1GB SD Card.
You can store music, videos, pictures, documents (word files, books and pdf files to name a few) and programs.

  • T500 Graphic Card and Fingerprint

Hi, I got the T500 20896kg with windows vista ultimate.
Problem 1: I read, that all T500 have 2 Graphic cards. Well, if I run PC-Doctor it shows me "Graphic cards: 2" but at Graphic cards it just shows me the Intel X4500HD. If I try to switch at the battery icon in the bar on the right corner, there is no way to switch any graphic card. Is it possible, that there is just one Graphic card inside, the Intel x4500HD? Is it then possible to install another card to play Fallout 3 for example? How could this be done and which one would be suggested? What costs are estimated?
    Problem 2:
There is no way to get the fingerprint reader working. If I want to start the software, it prohibits me from entering, saying there is some problem. If I start it with admin, it doesn't work either. Everytime I start the system, after a while the window pops up, that Autostart blocked the fingerprintsoftware from activating.
How could I manage this problem?
Problem 3: I got Windows Vista ultimate and wanted to update it to windows 7. I wanted to order it, and it says that it won't take the money from my credit card unless the confirmation of buying has been checked. since my T500 is a retail model I bought through ebay I was not able to produce the original buying confirmation at once. Now, the same day I ordered, Lenovo booked 17 Euro from my credit-card - obviously without checking the receipt that I could not send at all. As I wrote to them where my Windows 7 is after two weeks I got an automated email that tells me that Lenovo will now check my receipt that I still did not send - because now I thought, ok if they book the money and say they will just do it after they check the receipt, maybe they have other means of checking it.
Still no windows 7 in my letterbox and still the money ripped off.
Problem 4: I got loads of background software running. Is the whole Lenovo suite of use after a while? Does it conflict with the windows suite? what should be removed, what not?

The issue is your faulty motherboard RAM slot. See here for recommended play

  • New graphics card not working in old Pavilion elite

Hey, so i bought a new graphics card, ASUS strix 750ti oc ed., when i plug it in to my Pavilion elite hpe 531sc i get a blue screen with the hp logo and a text saying 'press esc for startup menu' or something like that. Pressing esc does nothing, pressing any other button does me nothing either.
I tried plugging in the old graphics card, it still sort of works except i cant really play games or get my resolution above 800x600, and install the drivers and all for the new graphics card. But the new graphics card still dont work when plugged back in.
So im at a loss here, is my desktop simply too old or something?

Seeing alot of postings about trying that card.  See this thread on a possible solution:

  • Carmel2 compatible graphics card(s)?

Hi all, The OEM GT520 graphics card in my machine (a p6-2055a) is on its way out, making all sorts of grunting and groaning noises, and generaly getting far hotter than I am comfortable with.   I believe the only issue with the card is the cooling fan, but I have been unable to source a replacement locally (I'm in Canberra, Australia).  I have removed the card and done my best to maintain it, including re-applying thermal paste, and cleaning the card, heat sink, and internals of the fan as best as I could with compressed air, to no avail. I purchased and installed a replacement graphics card - a 2GB Gigabyte GT730.  However, when I boot the machine, it hangs at the HP screen, and beeps, once every 20 secs or so.  After the third beep, I get three very quick beeps, and the screen goes blank, and the box remains powered on.  Checking the forums, this seems to be a fairly common problem, but with no clear resolution for my motherboard. As far as I can tell, the above card should be compatible with the Carmel2 motherboard - it is a PCI-E 2.0 board, with DDR3, which meet the motherboard specs.  I am running version 7.16 of the BIOS, which I believe is the current version. Here are the questions: Are replacement cooling fans available for the GT 520 and, if so, where from?Is the GT730 compatible with the Carmel2 motherboard? If so, some help please, in getting it to work?If not, is there anything I can do to upgrade my system so that it is compatible (presumably, replacing the motherboard being the option...)?If there is no hope for the GT730, what GPUs are compatible with my system, out of the box? Eagerly anticipating your responses. Cheers,

  • Fastest Graphic Card & Dual Monitors

    Hi all,
I upgraded my graphics card to ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB (ADC, dual-link DVI)a little less than a year ago. The card lasted a few months before my I started getting yellow and green horizontal pixelization. Has anyone got any of these cards to work on a G5?
Does anyone know if there a faster/better card out there yet?

I put in my first ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB 1 year ago to run a 30 inch Apple display. The first card failed in days and the second in about two weeks, both giving corrupted displays. The third card, however, has worked flawlessly for several months. All replacements were made under warranty.

  • PowerBook has malfunctioning temperature sensor/overheating graphics card?

I just received a brand new high res PowerBook 15'', but, the free "Temperature Monitor" program, that monitors the outputs from the PowerBook's temperature sensors, seems to display the Graphics Processor's temperature incorrectly. Often, it says it is 212º F, but it wildly flunctuates between that and a more reasonable 114º. The "Specified Upper Limit" also changes, but seems to be 156.2º F. If it is the correct temperature, then my graphics card is overheating. What should I do?

To the contrary. All Macs have a graphics card. Not in the same way as a PC where the card is removable, but it is integrated into the computer. Otherwise they would either have some form of Apple graphics card or the graphics would leech off the main computer components. Mac OS X takes full advantage of hardware graphics technology (OpenGL, Quartz).
As for temperature, it is key to computer performance. If you've looked at PCs there are many different cooling options. The PowerBook has it's own ways. First it is built of aluminum which draws the heat away and reduces the temperature by 10%, and it has two cooling fans that run at low speeds for quiet operation, they will crank to full speed if the computer is under stress and is creating lots of heat. A G5 has an extensive and well thought out cooling system with thermal zones and liquid cooling on some models, good example of how extravagant they can get.
And Logan, does your computer feel 212˚? If not there is a malfunction in the program. If the computer is whirring about trying to cool itself when it feels normal, it is a hardware malfunction. Thry running a hardware test if it is a hardware malfunction.
