Calling all sound wizards: webcam not recording audio

Hey guys so I just bought a Creative Live! HD 1080 webcam to record video on my computer, and for some odd reason, the audio does not record with the video when I use the webcam's software. I experienced the same issue using ManyCam, but I did find that SmartPixel webcam software recorded audio when I used my headset, however it did not record audio with just the webcam mic.
I've tried just about everything in the control panel that would be related to sound, and that doesn't seem to be solving the issue. I also went to accessories: sound recorder to see if the audio would record from there, and it did.
I want to also note that the same issue occurred while using the Logitech c920. I returned that one because I could not get the audio OR video to record.
I am currently using Realtek High Definition Audio and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I've updated all drivers.
There must be a solution to this - anyone have some bright ideas?

Are you launching Captivate with Run As Administrator privilege?
If one of your co-workers logs onto your PC with their user profile, does the same microphone that doesn't work for you work OK for them?

  • QuickTime player 10.2 does not record audio, mic works in other apps

    Hi,
    OS: Mountain lion
    QT player: 10.2
    Perian and Soundflower are installed.
    QT is not recording audio from the computer mic or even a headphone mic, neither for audio or video recording.
    QT starts always for recording with the volume down.
    The mic works in other apps (skype or garaband).
    I am not able to find either the plist files for QT.
    I used QT in the past to record audio from the computer mic.
    I recently updated the OS from lion to mountain lion.
    Any ideas why is not working?

  • Quicktime not recording audio in New Movie Recording

    Audio is not recorded when using an audio interface as the input in New Movie Recording, but records fine when in New Screen and Audio Recording. Using my laptop's internal microphone is fine, cannot work out what the problem is, as it has worked absolutely fine in the past, but has stopped.
    Sound can be heard and the volume meter in Quicktime responds to sound coming in, just doesn't record at all in that mode.

  • IMovie not recording audio

    Hi, I am trying to add a voice over the video recording in iMovie 10 but am not having any success. After selecting the recording option the application gives the count down to start the audio recording but the program does not actually record any sound. I have verified the built in mic is working correctly as I have no issue recording sound in Quick time player.
    Any idea what is cause iMovie to not record? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Depends on which app you are using and what form of audio you want to record. E.g., QT X can record audio via the line in or built-in microphone option but not the system audio. On the other hand, an application like Snapz Pro X can record microphone and/or the Mac system audio.

    QT X has two quality presets from which to choose. Third-party screen capture apps may have other options. E.g., Snapz Pro X allows the user to select any of audio and/or video compression options for which the system is configured for final output.

    just upgraded an HP G60-214 to XP Pro SP2 with much assistance from yourselves for which many thanks ! 
    Getting the Conexant HD 221 sound to work was difficult but is now good but I'm having trouble getting the microphone to work.
    Device manager shows an NVidia driver and says it's working properly but 'Sound Recorder' doesn't record anything and neither does Skype. The volume is set to maximum and it isn't muted.
    Anyone got this to work under XP ?

    I have a similar problem. 
    If I use skype, or infact other programs, the microphone seems very unstable. 
    In most of my skype calls I loose the mic at some point or another. during these drops Skype warns me that the mic is very low, but I have not changed any settings. It seems that there is a problem with the integrated mic. Loose connection or something. This is not just with Skype but with other programs where I use the mic. However, there is no problem with hearing the other side of a call. Thus speaker is fine. Tired of this problem as I cant call without having problems. Please help.

  • Calling all Lightroom wizards - aka a converter for all seasons!

    I have been using Lightroom since b2 and absolutely love it, but deep down there has always been a little part of me that believes it could do RAW conversions better.
    THE ISSUE:
    I know that for some images one converter works better than another, but i am beggining to think that during autumn (or fall, for my american cousins!) I will have to do all conversions in capture NX.
    Take a look at this link showing two images, one from NX with lovely rusty reds, yellows and browns, the other my best attempt to replicate the colours in Lightroom.

    No matter how i try and tweak the image in lightroom (and i have tried every permutation i know) i cant avoid getting muddy greens in the darker areas of the long grass, where NX gives lovely reddish browns. I know different converters start off with different 'looks', but i would have thought it possible to get nice deep reds in the shadows in Lightroom, but i am at the point where i now beleive it is impossible to replicate the wonderful colours i can get in NX.
    THE CHALLENGE:
    If you think i'm talking out of my backside (*** - us), or would just like to show me the error of my ways, i have provided the .nef file on the link below. If you can replicate the colours in the NX version you will never want for a drink in London ever again*

    I dont want to get into discussions about which rendering people prefer, that is purely subjective. The issue here is that Lightroom doesnt seem to be able to render an image in the way i would like, and lets face it, i am only asking for certain colours, its not like this should be a round trip to PS for 'special' editing or anything!

    It's great to see all the participation on this one issue. I'm sure Jeff will be back and qualify his off-the-fly response!? ; ) Must have been having a bad day or not enough time to couch his blunt comment in a more genteel way... or maybe that's the way he is in emailogue?
    I appreciated David's posting the whole image at his site. I do concur with John about the green fringeing on the guy's forearm. In this situation, are we talking about limitations of the CCD color reception and the additive nature of the algorithms needed to replace what is never recorded? I use an X3F-based chip camera (SD-10 and Polaroid x530). I've been finding some irregularities (i.e. brighter quadrant than another) in sensor sensitivity, in the case of the SD-10, as I've been documenting Moroccan-weaved carpets (been using my old, Kodak gray/color card to calibrate).
    I have started to delve into the development process of LightRoom and have been trying to work at getting accuracy in the color, too. This discussion will greatly help me in isolating the variables and hone in on the essentials.
    The neutral in the cloud, it seems, will be our only objective marker to help us get as close to reality as possible, since there is no other known value available (e.g. a good patch of green, a gray card, or the revealed palms of our friend in the picture) . These other tweaks will help us with the subjective aspect of the image and help convey the shock, awe, warmth, beauty and feeling our audience (us?) will come to appreciate (this "feeling" is where marketing, advertising, and presentation thrive).
    It sounds like we're right back to the color space issues we had to deal with between the celluloid, camera, and paper! Color and light are back as our capricious lovers! So many variables to contend with when we chase the holy grail of the ultimate image, aren't there!?
    All I wanted to do, here, was to find out where I could submit an icon idea for LightRoom (the other one is a bit static - LR) and I got stuck into this fascinating thread! I wonder no more where all my time goes!!

  • Headset not recording audio in Captivate 7

    I can't get any sound recording when using Captivate 7 on PC. Using Microsoft LifeChat LX 3000 USB headset. Works fine in all other apps. Tried 3 separate MS LX3000 headsets and external USB mic. Works fine for two other coworkers with exact same hardware setup and audio settings. Any solutions?

    Hi there
    My iPhone 4S had stopped working sounds and vibratig at all (calling ,music,video,game ) sounds suddenly.
    I can't hear sound who's calling me and he not hear my sound.

    Have you tried a different pair of headphones?  Does this happen with both the external speaker and headphones?  Have you tried a hard reset of the iPod to see if that makes a difference?  What about a restore?
    Does this only happen with certain tracks?

  • Download Helper, even with paid converter upgrade, gives "Invalid Capture File" errors and will not record audio, with "File Creation Error - Unable to rename/copy audio file" Error.

    Download Helper Screen Capture worked to capture video if the default "no audio" option is active. But, no audio. The "speakers" or "microphone" audio options are confusing....the audio to be captured is from the video, so what do you choose? With either "speakers" or "microphone" selected, the captured file has poor audio and no video. Re-capture efforts (speakers) get "Invalid capture file error" and "File Creation error- Unable to rename/copy audio file"
    The paid upgrade of "Converter" doesn't work.
    Instructive documentation - not very good.
    Suggestions - Need time delay between initiation of "Record" and starting the video to be recorded.
    Could use timer tracking of the record process.
    Are there operating system limitations? (Have Windows XP Pro)

    That is an issue for the developer of that Download Helper.

It will not remember multiple choice answers that you have to click to choose.     If they are the kind of answers you have to click, please use a screenshot addon to take a picture of each page of your test after you have filled in your answers.

  • How to put Oracle Table in NOLOGGING so all DML's are not recorded ?

    We have a table in our database, which goes through thousands of DML's(insert,update,delete).
    We don't want to record any of this DML's into our redo logs.
    Is there any way we can setup the table in such a way where none of the DML's happening
    on the tables are recorded in the REDO LOGS ?
    Looks like the NO LOGGING option does not take care of the DML's ?

    Looks like the NO LOGGING option does not take care of the DML's ?The Nologging clause takes care of the bulk loads only but in that too, its not zero redo still. There is still going to be redo generation but compared to normal processing , it would be lesser. For the conventional DML's, there isn't anything which is going to suppress the redo generation completely. What's the purpose that you are willing to make the redo generation zero for the table? How would you get back the data inserted if there is going to be a failure of any sort happening?

    I am trying to set up a Premiere Tutorial for my co-workers.
    I'm using Quicktime X, and It looks good, and my voice sounds good.
    The problem is that I get no audio from Premiere.
