Calling for help?

I was just wondering, if I call the apple support number will they actually help he fix my installation problems, or will they just refer me to the same few website pages that I have got on the forums?

my Ipod 30gb video
keeps telling me it needs to restore, it goes through the process and then it ask again stating that it has a Ipod in recovery mode and must re restored again.
hmmm. if the ipod is otherwise working fine, that might be being caused by a Windows drive letter confusion.
for troubleshooting advice on that possibility, see the following document:
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore"

    Morning AppleHlumamkhululi,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In most cases, the connected iPod needs to be restored.

  • A call for help!  Can I make my master my slave?

Hi, friends.  I hope these few words find you in good spirits.
I am trying to recover data from about 10 years of my life, and I am hoping one of you will point me in the right direction.
I have an old Power Mac G4 tower (Sawtooth, AGP from about 2000).  It has two hard drives:  the original, a 10 GB drive in the master position, and a newer 80 GB Seagate in the slave position.  The original drive is running OS 9.2.2 and the Seagate is running 10.3 (Panther).  Right now it is booting off the original drive.  I'd like to boot it off the Seagate, if I can.
First, my question:  may I safely and correctly swap the two drives, or just the cables, so that the Seagate drive becomes the 'default' master drive?
Now, the problem, which is knotty and may indicate hard drive failure:
I last booted the computer two years ago, and at that time, both drives worked just fine.  Now I am trying to retrieve all my data to a new external drive, and wipe the old Power Mac clean.  That data represents a fair bit of my personal life, and I am willing to do just about anything to retrieve it.
Now I cannot get the master drive (OS 9.2.2.) to boot all the way.  I booted it with extensions loaded, and I get to the desktop photo and the time (the correct time) in the menu bar, but then the process seems to stop.  The hard drive does not appear on the desktop, and although the cursor is not frozen, there is nothing to click on.  Then I booted it with extensions off, and again I reached the same place (desktop photo, correct time).
I do not have the startup CD with me.  I tried to boot the machine with my OS 10.6 disk (holding down the 'c' key), but the OS 9.2.2 loaded.  I tried that twice.
Then I tried to access the original hard drive in target disk mode.  The yellow moving 'TDM' symbol on the original computer's screen is visible, but no hard drive icon appears on my laptop (Intel, 2008, 10.6.8).  I tried Disk Utility, and then TechTool Deluxe, but nothing appears in either of them.  So I cannot access the hard drive in order to try a software repair, or to change the startup drive.
I am hoping that the Seagate slave drive is working -- that has almost all of my data anyway -- and that I can get it to boot if it is in the master position.  If you savvy and experienced people say that I can swap them, then I'll give it a shot.
If you have any better suggestions, I am willing to follow those too.  I am running out of things to try!
    Thanks in advance, and peace,
    Charles

    Hi BDAqua,
And thanks for your prompt help.  I like the idea of using the cable to connect my two old hard drives directly to my laptop.  I am unfamiliar with the cable, however, and I have three questions:
    1.  Will it come with instructions for use?
    2.  It looks like I simply remove the hard drive and connect it to the USB port on my laptop.  Why then do I need to set the drive to master?  (I installed my second hard drive about 8 years ago, and I no longer remember the significance of master/slave.)
    3.  If I am very careful -- and I am -- are you fairly certain that I'll not fry my hard drive?
If you cannot help me with these questions, or are too busy, please know that I am grateful for your help.
    Peace,
    Charles

  • SDP, AAC, Chapters, and more. Call for help!

    Hi there,
I am the owner of an online electronic music station called Proton Radio... you can look us up at www.protonradio.com
I currently broadcast with Shoutcast in MP3 format because it provides the easiest access for users-- it works in Winamp, iTunes, Windows Media player, etc etc...
But, MP3 is not bandwidth friendly. AAC/M4A and ACC+ are much more optimized... but, to my knowledge, there is no way to stream these formats in iTunes.
While researching this today I found a very small number of AAC broadcasters but they did so with Quicktime Streaming server, and the audio track was an .sdp file-- something not supported by iTunes.
So.... is it at all possible to stream mp4/aac/acc+/m4a into iTunes using QTSS or Darwin?
    Thanks for your time,
    jason

  • The number to call for help is...

    08708760753
Only valid once without paying £35!
had huge probs and had exhausted all this sites info and it took a while but we sorted it.
Before you call them though just make sure you've reset and updated the ipod, itunes and if none of that works, restore the ipod to factory settings - this will lose everything stored on the ipod though.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 on the page that you posted from should let you reset them : go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account, then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset (how you contact them varies by country).
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use.
For the charge on your card, you've checked the purchase history on your account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, and have you got any auto-renewing subscriptions ?  If you can't find the charge, and you haven't added or changed your credit card details (when you do then a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the details are correct and valid, which should disappear within a few days) then you can contact iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • About Gradient Map in one action, call for help!!!

Things I meant is to import EPS files into photoshop (already CMYK, 300dpi), then make into single black&white (things like c0 m0 y0 k48 etc.) by using Gradient Map, which to ensure there is empty in all the channels except black.
I recorded this process in one action, for I got massive pics to solve out.
    But it came weird.
After the action was done, the pic didn't became single black. Instead of that, there are still amounts in those 3 channels (things like c10 m7 y13 k34).
It drives me crazy...Anyone can give a hand?
    Cheers.

Here's a truly radical idea. Convert your email to IMAP (get a new email server) and keep everything stored on the mail server. That way each computer gets exactly the same thing. I use IMAP mail this way with four different computers. Never a hiccup, no downloading mail, no data stored on my computer except what I want stored on the computer, no syncing between the computers just to keep mail current on each one. In fact I can get on your computer, configure your Mail to use my email server and see everything as it would be on any of my computers. I could send mail from your machine, read replies, etc. When I get home and open my own Mail I'll see everything as if it had been done from my home computer.
You can then use MobileMe to sync your mail rules and configuration changes if you want, which is what I do.

  • Spyware message blocking my OS X Safari browser. Asks me to call for help.

How do I clear a Spywear message from my Safari browser and make sure my MacBook Pro is safe.

Press cmd-opt-esc. That will bring up the Force Quit window. Select Safari and click Force Quit.
Open Safari while holding down the  shift key. That will prevent Safari from reopening the same websites.
This is normally a Javascript running that causes what you see. If you return to the same websites, you may see it again.
