Calling from abroad with paying monthly

I have a 2 part question.
Part one, are the pay monthly subscriptions for unlimited north America usable from abroad? I will be in Austria and I need to make calls to America from there.
Part two, if I buy one of these version cell phones sype offers with these plans, will they have service in Austria? I need to be able to make calls reliably for work.
Thank you

Hi,
Answer to your first question, North America subscription can be used in any country you wish, but you can purchase it only from US. If subscription runs out you can't purchase it again from Austria, unless recurring payments is set up. Subscriptions are by default recurring and you might wish to purchase your subscription with Skype Credit. Then as long as you have Skype Credit your subscription will be extended, there are various ways of adding Skype Credit to your account in Austria: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/ways-to-pay/?country=AT
Here's a guide to purchase subscription with Skype Credit: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1781/How-can-I-pay-for-a-subscription
Regarding second question, did you mean Verizon cell phone?
If so then this FAQ should help: https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/FA10854/Can-I-use-Skype-on-my-mobile-phone-abroad
You might think about purchasing a phone that works over WiFi: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-mobile/other-supported-devices/
If phone works over WiFi then you can use it abroad.

  • Making calls from abroad

    Is there a way to activate calls from abroad when you have already left the country?

    Buying a bundle doesn't mean that your device will work aborad you need to make sure roaming is enabled on your account.
    If you have a EE extra plan you still need to make sure roaming is enable on your account your plan only gives you free/cheaper calls when abroad.
    If your wanting to enable roaming on your account there could be a deposit to pay if you haven't had the device for about 6 months.
    Unless you have paid the deposit then roaming is not enabled on your account.
    You need to activate roaming on your account by calling 150 from your device or from a landline 01707 315000 before you leave the UK.
    But you can still do this if you are abroad.
    If you have had the device/contract for 6 months or over you can login to your online account and turn on roaming yourself
    Manage this device>Usage controls>Roaming abroad - Allow and Call abroad and turn it on. If the option is not there you need to call
    It can take 24 hours to activate
    If you had this device/contract for under 6 months you need to call customer services on +44 7953 966250 from a landline.
    Once you have activated roaming you can then use this link to see what cost there is and what bundles you can have.
    http://explore.ee.co.uk/roaming/ee
    Please read this about voicemail
    http://ee.co.uk/help/getting-started/setting-up-voicemail/divert-to-voicemail
    And this
    http://ee.co.uk/articles/set-up-your-phone-for-using-abroad
    Also sending a text to 150 with the words of RO country your going to i.e. RO Spain will get you a reply of what the costs will be from that country.

  • Sales calls from BT - several a month

    Hi there,
    I hope this is the right Forum to post this.   I couldn't see which one it'd be best suited to as the Phone/BB ones are for more technical posts.
    My dad is a BT customer but he gets several sales calls from BT each month.
    He is registered for the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) but BT don't seem to take this on board.
    It seems BT contract out their sales calls and it doesn't seem like the centres are talking to each other.  He always tells them to 'add a note on their system' to ask them please not to call for marketing sales, but this has never been acknowledged and BT keep calling him.  They also seem to call exactly the same moment he's eating the first mouthful of dinner!
    He's actually considering moving away from BT because they keep calling him for sales calls.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Calling from Spain with Online number

    I am thinking about getting an online number for the US, so that my friends can call me.  However, if I call them using my Spanish cell, will the number appear to them as my virtual number or my Spanish number?

    That depends.  If you use the Skype app on a mobile phone, and you have configured Skype to use a US Online Number as Caller ID when you call your friends, the US Online Number would appear on their phones.  If you use just the mobile phone with your Spanish mobile number to place the call, and not the Skype app, your Spanish number would appear on their phones (assuming you send that with your outgoing calls, and that information is passed over from your Spanish mobile network to the phones in the States).
    When you purchase an Online Number, it is not automatically configured to be your Caller ID number when you call telephones from Skype.  You can set that up by logging into your Skype account using the "Account" link at the top of this web page once you have that number.  Go into the Caller ID settings, and select your US Online Number.  You won't have to go through any verification steps, but give it a few minutes for Skype's systems to update before you call telephones with that new setting.  Also make sure to log into the Skype program on a computer (not from a mobile phone or portable device like a tablet) and change the Privacy setting for Online Numbers to allow calls from anywhere.  Otherwise, your friends will encounter busy signals when they try to call that number.  It, like the Caller ID settings, are not automatically changed when you purchase an Online Number.

  • Operating System Calls from APEX with Java and PL/SQL

    Question about operating system calls from apex.
    I created a java file which is wrapped with pl/sql like
    create or replace java source named "ExternalCall" as
    import java.io.*;
    I do the steps from this web page http://www.oracle.com/global/de/community/tipps/oscalls/index.html
    The page is in german, but for experienced users the code on this page says everything.
    In apex i have an application which calls this function with the "move" command in a sql-report region.
    Let's say move c:\work1\file.txt c:\work2\file.txt
    Everything works fine on one host(pc) but if i want to transfer the file from my host to another one then
    i get the messgage "no access" although i have read, write access on the other host.
    By the way, on both hosts i have admin rights.
    Why can't i transfer the file over a network ?
    Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
    Regards
    Stefan

    I guess you are working on a Windows host. In this case Oracle processes are running as Windows services with a build-in MS system account. This account has no access to network ressources. You have two ways to get out of your windows box:
    Assign Oracle services a network enabled account, e.g. domain user with local administrator privileges. (I never tried this and I don't like to recommend it.)
    Use a command script for copying files and use explicite authentication within this script:-
    net use \\myserver\ipc$ tiger /user:scott
    copy c:\temp\xxx1 \\myserver\share\temp
    copy c:\temp\xxx2 \\myserver\share\temp

  • Domestic calls from abroad included with sub?

    Hi,
    I have an unlimited domestic (USA) subscription, so I can make unlimited calls to US numbers. If I'm traveling abroad, are calls to US numbers still included (over wifi), since my destination number is still domestic, or would I be liable for additional calling fees since my call is originating from outside of the country?

  • Moving abroad with Pay and Go

    Hi. I'm moving abroad in September - a long-term move, and was just wondering what is best to do with my phone. I'm currently on Pay and Go. I will be moving to Spain, and have heard that O2 have an equivalent/sister company in Spain. Is it possible to change my phone on to that network? Or should I get a new sim card out there? Is it worth keeping my current O2 sim card for any time I visit the UK again, or will it be cancelled? Thanks for any help you can give. I've tried to chat on live chat to an O2 expert but no one has responded, so thought I'd check here! :-)

    jonsie wrote:
    If your phone has been on O2 for 12 months (unless iphone and doesn't apply) then get your phone unlocked and use a Spanish sim. O2 Travel rates are fairly good if you want to use the O2 sim but you will need a UK debit/credit card to top up.If the number isn't one you wish to keep then there is no benefit in keeping it if you decide non a local sim. You would have to make a chargeable call with the UK sim every 6 months to keep it active.Good luck in the future with your move to Spain.If one needs a UK number that badly whilst in Spain, but is going to close his UK bank accounts (hence no UK debit card to use for topups), he could port his number to Vodafone. From what I know (don't rely on that one too much, doublecheck first), you can topup your Vodafone number using a voucher from a Vodafone network in another country. From my personal experience (some 4-5yrs ago though), I was able to topup an Irish Vodafone with a Vodafone UK voucher.

  • Calls from abroad

    How can u unlock ur phone once abroad

    It costs £8.99 to unlock a device from EE there are a number of options that you might be able to use to get your device unlocked.
    But first this.
    Only contract devices have to be used for 6 months first before requesting a unlock. PAYG, Sim only or secondhand devices this rule doesn't apply.
    1, If you still with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the unlocking request form with your details. Any phone that was replaced by insurance you will need to let EE know that it was a replacement device if your still in contract. You can also unlock an old device if you have a upgrade device on your account just fill out the request form with your details and the phone number you used with this device. It doesn't matter if you use this number on a new device now.
    2, If you already have an account with EE and you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device lock to EE and you would like it unlocked you just need to use your Sim card in the device so the IMEI number gets registered to your account. Once your account has the IMEI number on it you can the fill out the online unlock request form.
    3, If you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device and don't have a EE/Orange/T-Mobile account and you don't want to use the EE networks you need to get a PAYG SIM card and set up an account. Top-up the account to £8.99 to pay the unlock fee than fill out the online unlock request form.
    (If using a PAYG you must make sure that the £8.99 is on your account when EE take the payment if it's not your device will not get unlocked and EE will not inform you that the unlock request has failed. It's you job to make sure the cedit is there when EE go to take it they will not inform you when there going to take it)
    Or
    4, A non EE customer can take the device to your local EE store and request the unlock from there it will still cost £8.99 and it still takes 7 to 10 days
    5, If you would like a device unlocked and you are no longer with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the online unlock request form using the number that you used with that device on EE/Orange/T-Mobile. EE will unlock devices that are up to 10 years old that were used on their network. You will still be billed to unlock the device.
    6, If you have brought or thinking about buying a 2nd hand device and you are not in the UK you are going to find it very hard to get a device unlocked when you setup an account you need a UK address also you will need to get a PAYG SIM card but you will also need to find away of topping up the account with GBP, if you can not do any of this the device will not get unlocked there are no exceptions.

  • Calling from abroad on iphone

    I work abroad for up to two weeks at the time and have the skype app on my iphone.
    I normally use the app through the wifi I can get from the services but I'm looking at getting a subscription to the UK landlines.
    My question is - can I use the iphone app while abroad without wifi if I have the subscription to call the UK?

    You can use the Skype app as you described when traveling to other countries, where you are on the 3G network in those countries instead of WiFi.  If you use your iPhone on a mobile network outside your home country, your mobile carrier will charge you for the roaming data usage.  Skype has nothing to do with the use of your iPhone on a foreign mobile network, and those roaming charges can be very high.
    If you purchase a subscription for calls to UK landlines and you use Skype to call those landlines, Skype won't charge you for those calls.  Your mobile carrier will charge you for the use of a foreign mobile network.  I can't stress this enough, as some carriers here in the USA want to charge as much as US$ 15/megabyte when their subscribers use data services in other countries.  The carriers measure the data sent from your phone as well as the data received by your phone in calculating the usage for roaming charges.  Other countries may be similar to what is seen when US mobile subscribers use their phones on foreign trips.
    Please keep one thing in mind..... Skype subscriptions and Skype Credit do not help you when using your phone on a 3G data network.  That is between you and the mobile carrier.  If you must use your iPhone on a foreign mobile network and want to lessen the charges you will incur, you will have to investigate unlocking your iPhone so it can use SIM card from other carriers in those countries.  A prepaid SIM and data plan may cost less than the roaming charges your carrier will charge, depending on how much you plan on using your phone on foreign data networks.
    Hope that helps!

  • JCo 3.0  - RFC call from EJB with SSO

    Hello,
    I am trying to call abap using JCo 3.0 from EJB (NW CE 1.0). I have configured destination on server with authentication method to use SAP Logon tickets. But when I call my EJB method that looks like this:
    JCoDestination dest=JCoDestinationManager.getDestination("RFCCallTest");
    JCoRepository repo=dest.getRepository();
    JCoFunction f= repo.getFunction("ZMG_RET_NAME");
    JCoParameterList in=f.getImportParameterList();
    in.setValue(0, "param1");
    f.execute(dest);
    I get an exception when executing the first line of code:
    Message:     Exception occurred during lookup of RFC Destination RFCCallTest: No SAP logon ticket found
    Category:     /System/Security
    Location:com.sap.security.core.server.destinations.provider.DestinationsProviderFrame.getDestinationProperties()
    When I change the destination authentication method to Technical user it works well.
    SSo between the servers works.
    This scenarion also works when I use older JCo implementation (2.x)

    Hi Bill,
    I too faced the same problem for quite some time on SP9. I thought it was the adapter problem that persisted ...but it was not !!
    After importing the RFC structure into XI, if the name of the imported RFC program is renamed/changed on R/3 side, then you will get the same error "lookup of binding via CPA-cache failed for AdapterType RFC, AdapterN."
    So make sure that RFC program name on the R/3 side was not changed/renamed after you have imported the RFC structure into XI.
    If the RFC program name had changed, make sure you reimport the RFC structure to avoid this problem.

  • Not found error message from LabVIEW runtime when called from VC++ with statically linked MFC

    I have a dll built using LabVIEW 6i. I am calling the dll from a VC++ application. When the application loads I get an error pop-up 'cannot find LabVIEW runtime'. If I change the VC++ code to dynamically load MFC (using the loadlibrary function) or dynamically load the LabVIEW dll I created then the problem goes away. Only when both are loaded statically do I get the error message.
    The target machine is running Win2K pro and has the LabVIEW runtime installed.
    I do not want do dynamic loads as I need to call the dll from a legacy application. Are there any options to change the way LV links to MFC or to force the dll to find the LV runtime?
    Alan Widmer

    Ben,
    I have attached a ZIP of the files required to test a DLL from an MFC application. Or you can build the same application by following the instructions below. I used the numtest dll that you previously sent to me so there is no 'magic' in the LabVIEW or dll.
    In VC++ select NEW. Pick the MFC AppWizard (MFC) to build an MFC application. In the wizard select
    Project Name: MFCNumtest
    Single Document
    No database support
    No Compound document support
    Support for ActiveX
    Default settings on the Features page
    MFC Standard
    MFC as a shared DLL
    From the ResourceView of the project explorer, add an item Test to the IDR_MAINFRAME menu then add an item Go as a submenu item (with an ID of ID_TEST_GO)
    Right click the new menu item and run the Class
    Wizard. Click Add Function.. button to make a function OnTestGo()
    Open MainFrm.cpp and scroll to the end of the file to see the skeleton for the OnTestGo function. In this function add a call to the LabVIEW dll. You will also need to add a reference to the .lib file and the usual extcode.h.
    When you run the app you will see a window with the Test menu item. Select it and click Go to run the call to LabVIEW.
    This all works great. If you now go to Project | Settings and on the general tab change the Microsoft Foundation Classes: item from 'Use MFC in a shared DLL' to 'Use MFC in a static library' rebuild ALL files in the project and run the app you get the error message:
    System error 998 while loading the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\6.0\\lvrt.dll).
    numtest requires a version 6.0 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Please contact the vendor of numtest to correct this problem.
    I apologies for my slow response, g
    ot distracted by some other issues.
    Thanks for your help,
    Alan Widmer.

  • HT201328 Hi there, I just got the iPhone 5 from Optus with 24 months contact now I tried to unlock to use Vodafone SIM card but I can''t unlock pls can can tell is any other way to do. Thanks

    Hi there, I would like to know how to unlock Optus  iPhone 5. I got an iPhone 5 from Optus new phone is only 2 months old and the phone is on 24 months contact . Now I tried to unlock but I can't unlock if I can unlock my phone so I can use in oversee next week. Can you please help me and tell me what to do to unlock to use other SIM card that's is not Optus only. Thanks

    Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Why do you think they would do so before you complete the terms of your contract? I don't know specifically what their policy is, but most carriers won't do so unless they are legally required to.
    If you didn't want to use Optus, why did you sign a contract with them?
