  • Files Hidden or Missing? Mark Spencer Motion 3 Book

    hello, i'm working with the Motion 3 book by Mark Spencer.
    When I open up my folder Motion 3 Book Files > Media > Ducati.. Then the book has me open a TextElement file, but I can't see any of the Media in the folder. I can see it when I open up the file from my desktop, but not in Motion. How do I view all the files in the Ducati folder?
    Thanks.
    By the way Lesson 4 seems to be wacky as far as the directions. I got lost and wasn't able to choose "if you get lost open up this project" type of thing. The book seems to be missing some steps, but **** it's a good book to learn motion overall. I just wish Lesson 4 had multiple save points because the work flow can get very confusing. I got lost up to the point where I add the "light" effect.
    Thanks again.

    Hi Mark
    I have your book Motion 3. There are a few problems with the book.
    1: page XV Installing the Lesson Files: It reads the disc contains 7GB data. My disc in inspector only contains 2GB.
    2: Page 124 Addiing Objects in 3d
    I have tried to follow and I cannot get the camera to do anywhere near to what is in the book. The exercise from page 124 to 148 is impossible if there is not a "catchup file" after page 128.
    That is as far as I have got.
    Many thanks

    Anyone can make them, just dial *67 in front of the # you're calling.

  • UCCX - abandoned calls marked as handled contactinactiveexception

    Hi
    I have a UCCX 8.5 script - at the start of the script it uses the IF contactinactiveexception exception occurs go to - which then goes to a label which clears the exception and then marks the call as handled
    What I have noticed is that this step is causing calls that should be marked as abandoned as handled
    For example if I place a test call with all agents not ready and the call queues and I hang up - in the historical reports this call shows as handled
    If I delete the contactinactiveexception stop and then repeat the test - the call is properly marked as abandoned.
    Can anyone advise how they are using CIE step or where it should be positioned in the script to stop this problem.
    Thanks

    Hello-
    I would reset the exception right before your Select Resource step to goto the end of your script.  You will need to change how the end of your script is working too.
    Take a look at the screenshot. I hope this helps.

  • Calling Mark Robinson - Help with AppNote 11788 ?

    Mark,
    At the end of last week, I tried to use your procedure as described in
    AppNote 11788. We met the pre-requisites and we are running the latest
    Samba, 3.0.14A, as recommended by Tech Support. We have already migrated
    Groupwise from our old Netware server, so on the Linux server our
    eDirectory is already set up with 20 users and a gwdom and gwpo.
    The first step went beautifully. But when I hit "Finish" for the second
    step, I was refused admin access to eDirectory (Login failed. Please
    check your credentials and try again) -- something which had worked fine
    a few minutes previously for step 1.
    I now cannot log onto eDirectory via iManager as admin any more although
    I can via ConsoleOne.
    I have two questions:
    1 - Clearly, our eDirectory schema must be missing one or more
    settings/objects such that the addition of posix compliance isnt working
    for us (or has upset something). Im not an eDirectory expert and I dont
    know where to look, nor how to diagnose why the iManager login is failing.
    Can you help ? If I could fix this, I might be able to continue with the
    other steps of your process.
    2 Although we have a working Groupwise system authenticated via
    eDirectory, our users do not appear to be part of a Group they are
    simply held in the gwpo container and in our context. Your procedure
    requires a group to be set up. Can I use the context or gwpo, or do I
    still have to create a group and make all our GW users part of it ?
    If you can find the time, your soonest reply would really be much
    appreciated, as currently half our IT is running on Netware and half on
    NLSBS - not good!
    Thanks

    Mark,
    No problem - I realise you guys give many hours of effort over and above
    your "normal" working day, so I really am grateful to you for a response.
    I, too, am having to work 60-hour weeks at present because of the mess that
    our IT is in, thanks to NLSBS9, and Novell Technical Support don't seem
    able or willing to help us.
    Please let me know if I can provide further info that will speed up
    diagnosis. The following may help you, though I'm no eDirectory expert:
    - I cannot login to iManager with any user at all, not just admin.
    - I have a copy of Kuo & Henderson's Novell Guide to Troubleshooting
    eDirectory so I've done a bit of reading up on ndstrace. Running it tells
    me that there is a DSA error -603 ERR_NO_SUCH_ATTRIBUTE when admin tries to
    log in to iManager. What that missing attribute is, I don't know how to
    work out, but I guess its the key to fixing the problem.
    - I did take an eMTool backup of eDirectory, via iManager, before I began
    the appnote, according to your recommendations. However, because I can't
    now get back in to iManager, I don't think I can restore eDirectory back to
    where it was.
    Hopefully hear from you soon.

  • Motion DVD by Mark Spencer

    I am ready to buy Spencer's Motion Deep Dive but am wondering if anyone has tried it before. I read one of his books and find him quite good at delivering info - it's clear he is a master at this but delivering is another issue. I am just trying to get reviews from folks on this forum.
    Thank you! Tupy.

    Thank you, Zoom.
    I will buy it then : ) Delivering it as in teaching. I have seen tons of Apple certified trainers come to the Boston area and deliver the info in more complicated terms than they need to be. Several of my colleagues would leave those meetings scared to even open certain programs - not so fair, but relatively common. A lot of those 'gurus' know a lot but don't know how to teach and, to me, that's what sets Spencer and others apart (I've watched some of his clips and loved his approach to teaching!).
    Best, Tupy.

  • Question for Mark Spencer

    Hi Mark,
    Just bought your "Mastering Motion's Cameras" Ripple Training download. Excellent, if this tutorial doesn't explain it nothing does - very deep.
    What it doesn't explain, and maybe I'm missing something obvious is how do you set up the scenes in the first place? Let's say I create "scene 1" then I move on to creating "scene 2", what do i do with scene 1? I guess what I'm saying is how do I park a scene in 3d space so I can move on to building the next one and so forth? It seems there's only so much real estate. Maybe the wrong place to post but once I get this thing understood I can fly with your tut.
    Grant

    Yeah, real estate in the context of infinite 3d space certainly doesn't make sense.
    What I mean is once I've made set#1 what do I do with it to make room for set#2 within the 2d window on my monitor? I know I have to move it but how?
    Do I just go to say a top view and just move things that way? I guess there's multiple ways to do it but I'm having a hard time getting my head around setting the scene up in the first place. Mark's tutorial is awesome and once I get the starting thing sorted out I'll be flying. This is going to be one of those duh/aha moments once I get it but again if I've got full screen sets set up how and where do I put them to set the second one up? Hope I'm making sense.
    BTW Patrick, bought, read, learned and used your Cheat in Motion Book. Great stuff! Thanks
    Grant

  • Missing Some Fonts Called For in Apple Pro Training Serries FCS 2 Book

    I am currently working my way through Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Studio 2 by Mark Spencer and Jem Schofield in the Apple Pro Training Series. Twice I have encountered cases where I am unable to find the font called for in the book. One case was Helvetica neue (I substituted Helvetica) and the second instance in which the Herculanum font is called for. I am surprised that books in this series would use fonts that do not seem to be on my computer. I am using OS 10.4.10 with all updates and similarly for FCS 2. I feel I may be missing something here, i.e. perhaps the fonts really are somewhere on my system and are just not accessible to FCS 2. Is that possible? Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom

    Hanumang and All,
    Thank you for your help. Let me bring this to closure by explaining what I found on investigating this issue and what I did to resolve it and obtain the fonts.
    On the basis of your confirmation that these fonts should have been on my iMac, I called Apple Support. I spent the usual hour on line with them and went through two support people only to learn that the only way to get these fonts back into my OS X Library/Fonts folder (without having a second Mac computer) was to reinstall the operating system. It is remarkable to me that one cannot simply get the fonts off the Apple Installation disk, but it cannot be done since they are installed as part of the OS X installation and are not in a separate directory or folder on the installation disk.
    I set out to do an Archive and Install with Preserve User Settings carefully checked. About one third of the way through the Archive and Install process the process hung and failed to move forward for more than an hour. I finally ended the installation process and attempted to run it again which it would not allow me to do as the Archive and Install process was now grayed out. I had no choice but to run an Erase and Install process to get a clean version of OS X on my system.
    Once I had the clean version of OS X on the system, I used Font Book to check for Helvetica neue and Herculanum fonts and they were now there. I then copied all of the fonts in Library/Fonts from this vrigin install of OS X to an external drive. I back up my iMac every night automatically using Retrospect so I was now able to do a full restore of my Mac HD using Retrospect. Of course, once I had done that the fonts were missing again, but I just copied all the fonts from the external HD copy into the Library Fonts folder on my Mac HD, and all was well -- some 7 hours after starting this process.
    You know, as someone who has recently bought their first Mac computer in 24 years, I would have to say that I am very disappointed in certain aspects of OS X. It takes an excessively long time to reinstall OS X compared to Windows XP with which I am very familiar. The Archive and Install feature of OS X has not worked for me on the two occasions where I have tried to use it and I truly miss the REstore feature of Windows XP.
    I love Apple Professional level software like FCS 2 and Aperture, but I am not a fan of OS X. My hope is that Leopard with Time Machine and other new features will address some of the problems with OS X.

  • How to eliminate an instance of "entering a sequence call" from the teststand report

    I am using TestStand 4.2 and I am using a long sequence with several sub-sequences.  In these subsequences I am getting test results that I would like to place in the TestStand report.  Currently, in order to do this I have to check the "Record Result" option in the "Run Options" of the sequence call properties which displays an "Entering sequence call" mark on the report.  Is there any way that I can get rid of this marker and still record information from the sub sequence?
    Solved!

                        bigbook Zbigbook = new bigbook();
                        td = new StringTokenizer(nextLine, ",");
                        while (td.hasMoreTokens()){
                        Zbigbook.enterDay(Double.parseDouble((String)td.nextToken()));
                        Zbigbook.enterOpen(Double.parseDouble((String)td.nextToken()));
                        Zbigbook.enterHigh(Double.parseDouble((String)td.nextToken()));
                        Zbigbook.enterLow(Double.parseDouble((String)td.nextToken()));
                        td.nextToken();
                        Zbigbook.enterVol(Double.parseDouble((String)td.nextToken()));
                        Zbigbook.enterClose(Double.parseDouble((String)td.nextToken()));
                        Zbigbook.enterTradingDay(closeCount);
                        theDayList.add(Zbigbook);
                        nextLine = reader.readLine();
                        if(runCount == 2000)
                                  reader.mark(roc);
                        if(runCount == 2500 || nextLine == null)
                                  reader.reset();This is where the problem occurs.
    In the previous post the readAheadLimit was set at 10, now I have it at 1000.
    All that's happening between the mark() and reset() really is tokenizing each line and storing it to the the DayList ArrayList.
    The way I understand it is that - each time the reader reads a line, that counts as 1 .................................
    OH! this is defined it terms of Characters, not lines from the reader!
    This may make a difference.

  • Mark Infocube Data for Deletion

    HI Everyone.
    I am attempting to understand if there is a way in the Infocube to mark specific
    data for deletion rather than actually delete that data using selective deletion and than
    unmark it when we are ready to show the data again?
    Please let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks Uday

    Hi Uday
    There is nothing called 'marking for deletion'... The last post on this subject is what you can follow at the most i.e. delete the data from the Infocube but not from PSA and try to use it from the PSA as required.
    Cheers
    Umesh

  • "Itemised billing" of Skype Credit used for phone calls (Skype Credit Usage History)

    It is very diffilult to obtain a summary of your Skype Credit usage history. I want to know how much each call cost. I found it on this website:https://secure.skype.com/account/usage I noted my Skype call credit was used in a very short period and I wanted to know which calls were responsible for this. It's almost impossible to find this information using the Skype Desktop Application. Calls marked "Special Services" were responsible for these costs. I wish Skype would be able to clearly mark calls which have expensive rates. I use a subscription with phone calls, but these "special service" calls are not anticipated and unexpectedly used all my Skype Credit. I am asking Skype to make it easy to get your Skype Credit Usage History, using the Skype application.

    Hi, ColoradoGuy, and welcome to the Community,
