Calling Methods inside BPS Web Excel
Hi,
Inside the layout2.htm file of a BPS Web Excel BSP application, there is some javascript,
layout_sheet.style.height
and
layout_sheet.style.width
, which control the height and width of the input and output layout screens. The code calls the methods
<%= layout->get_width( ) %>
and
<%= layout->get_height( ) %>
. What I have done is modified the screen so it dynamically adjusts to fit both the input and output layouts into the users screen, independent of their resolution, since not everyone has the same screen resolution.
In doing some research, there is another method,
layout->set_width( )
, that allows you to set the screen size for future reference.
How is it possible to take a value from javascript and submit it to this method? I have tried to set the javascript inside the parenthesis, but I get a compilation error then.

We modified the JS3.htm too. just to have the possibility to use an autosave function. For instance if the planner doesn't do anything for 5 mins then save
This have to be done that way because of the architecture of the Web Interface. I mean Switching between frames means having 2 autosave timer if the coding would have been in a Text component

What I should like to know is if RMI can easily be used to implement comunication (calling methods) inside classes that are part of the one same application... This should be a restrict case to use RMI...
The reason to do it come from the need to use the instance of a class knonwing it only as Object... This can be good to do if some code is used for general pupose in many different contexts.
In this case you can pass to the "server class" a parameter 'o' of type Object (all the classes extend Object) of the "customer class" to get back informations if some elaboration happen inside the "server class"...
This purpose is generally implemented with event listeners, but perhaps it could be done easily using RMI too (I dont know it...).
Using RMI in this simple situation, don't should require anything of complicate (stub, .... mashalling parametres....) to have the reference to method of the "customer class" to call. The "server class" already recives a reference of the "customer class" how parameter of type Object, and the mame of the method too.
I propose a simple thoeric example to explain really what I said before:

tonyMrsangeloRMI doesn't help you in the slightest here. You can just realize it all using local method invocation. All RMI does is to make that remote. If the objects aren't remote there is no point.

I am not sure, I don´t know URL possibilities that much.
If there is already any parameter in the url showing a language, then just try to change it.
If not, you can probably just put one at the end of the URL should be something like language=EN.

You want to use Comp2's getData() method in Comp1
If both the WebDynpro components are in the same DC:
1. Create a wrapper method (with the same signature) in the Comp2's Interface controller. And invoke the Component contorller's getData() method in this method using the below code.
wdThis.wdGetComp2Controller.getData()
2. Now Go to the Comp1 and right click on UsedWebDynproComps and add this Comp2 as a UsedWebDypro component.
3. Now go to the Component Controller of Comp1 and in properties tab add the usage declaration of Interface controller of Comp2.
4. Now using this below code you can access the method of InterfaceController of Comp2.
wdThis.wdGetComp2Interface().getData();
If both the WebDynpro components are in different DCs:
1. Right click on Comp2 and select Add to public part on Comp2 in DC2.
2. Now Add this public part in DC1 UsedDCs.
Now repeat the above stpes 1...to..4. of "If both the WebDynpro components are in the same DC" same.

Calling methods from inside a tag using jsp 2.0
My searching has led me to believe that you cannot call methods from in the jsp 2.0 tags. Is this correct? Here is what I am trying to do.
I have an object that keeps track of various ui information (i.e. tab order, whether or not to stripe the current row and stuff like that). I am trying out the new (to me) jsp tag libraries like so:

Searching on this I found some sites that seemed to say you can't call methods inside tag files...is this true?...how should I do this then? I tried pulling the object out of the pageContext like this:

I realized that these are probably newbie questions so please be kind, I am new to this and still learning. Any responses are welcome...including links to good resources for learning more.You are correct in that JSTL can only call getter/setter methods, and can call methods outside of those. In particular no methods with parameters.
You could do a couple of things though some of them might be against the "rules"
1 - Whenever you call isStripeToggle() you could "toggle" it as a side effect. Not really a "clean" solution, but if documented that you call it only once for each iteration would work quite nicely I think.
2 - Write the "toggle" method following the getter/setter pattern so that you could invoke it from JSTL.
ie public String getToggle(){
toggle = !toggle;
return "";
}Again its a bit of a hack, but you wouldn't be reusing the isStriptToggle() method in this way
The way I normally approach this is using a counter for the loop I am in.
Mostly when you are iterating on a JSP page you are using a <c:forEach> tag or similar which has a varStatus attribute.

Calling methods located inside ActiveX objects from Java
Hi folks,
I understand that I can wrap ActiveX methods in C and call using JNI, but I am looking for an elegant way to call methods inside of Active X controls directly. There are a set of classes in com.ms.ActiveX package that allow this, but I am receiving a java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: initPolicyEngine at runtime. I can't find any documentation from Microsoft on this (go figure). Has anyone ever used the com.ms packages, or does anyone know of an elegant solution avoiding wrappers and JNI? I have sucessfully used the neva objects vendor classes, but I find them too bulky for mainstream use. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.Hi,
- If you use the package com.ms.* You'll need to run your application in the Microsoft VM (jview.exe).
- If you run it inside the browser you cannot use the java plugin, and your applet needs to be signed.
If this doesn't help, please provide the version of your msjava.dll.

Oop report programme: call method
hi, i need ur guys advice about my oop report. its contain 2 class, lcl_main (main programme), lcl_disp(display report), lcl_update (upload report). all 3 class defination as below:

the question , the programme can be successfully run with this method but i faced the problem when i tried to create a call method inside others method because at the START-OF-SELECTION i need to identify with object (lcl_disp or lcl_update) first.
2nd, i tried to figure out how at the start-of-selection , i no need to repeat to call method init, loaddata repeatly for different class (lcl_disp and lcl_update). really need advice. thank you.

Go to the class CL_DD_DOCUMENT (trxn SE24).
In the 'Attributes' tab, check for the attributes with SDYDO_ATTRIBUTE as the associated type.
It gives all the available attributes.

Is it possible to open up an excel file inside a Web Browser not IE?
I'm trying to find out if it is possible to open up a pivot excel file inside the a web browser, but i don't want to use Internet Explorer for that i'd prefer firefox for that.
I have a web application that uses an excel file for one of its reports but i don't want the user to have to download the file in order to view the report and that particular report has various ordering criteria so i don't want any of the funtionality of the file to be lost in the process, so is it possible to do it? what tools would help me acomplish that?I don't think this is possible.
You may be able to make it display in Firefox if the file is defined as the XML Excel format and not the xls or xlsx formats. But that would require saving the file differently and you would most likely loose all/most functionality
You may find some Excel translators in Java (most notably POI from Apache). But they would still require you to adapt them to web format and you would have to duplicate much of the Excel functionality yourself. So it would be a long term option.
You could check out Google Docs. They have a spreadsheet application that I believe can convert Excel files to their format. You may be able to use it inside your web site with permissions. -
AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager Excel connection Manager failed
I used VS Studio 2008 (BIDS version 10.50.2500.0) on an WinXp machine (v 5.1.2600 SP3 Build 2600) to create a package that writes multiple query results to different tabbed sheets of a single excel spreadsheet. The package was working just fine and has run
successfully multiple times, but all of a sudden when opening the project, every single Data Flow task with an Excel Connection Manager displayed error icons. Each raises the following error message when attempting to open the Advanced Editor:
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005 Description: "Unspecified error". Error at DataFlow task name: SSIS error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method

From the time I created the original package (when it worked fine) until now:
1) I have been using the same computer, the same login account and the same permissions.
2) I have been writing to the same (32 bit) 2010 Excel file (which I created) in a folder on my local machine.
3) The filename and location have not changed; a template file is used each time to move and overwrite the previous file. Both are in the same locations.
4) I can independently open the target Excel file and the template Excel files with no errors.
6) The ConnectionString has not changed. The Connnection String I am using is
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\Conversion\Conversion\Results_dt01.xlsx;Extended Properties="EXCEL 12.0 XML;HDR=YES;".
7) Run64BitRuntime is set to False.
8) Delay Validation is set to true
9) This is not running under a SQL job
10) There are no child packages being run
I CAN create a NEW Excel Connection Manager, assigning it the exact same target Excel spreadsheet, successfully, but when I attempt to assign it to the Data Flow destination this error occurs:
"Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Unspecified error."
Thinking that the driver might be corrupt, I opened a second SSIS package, which also uses the Excel Connection Manager (same driver) and this package continues to work fine on the same workstation with no errors.
I have searched online for causes of this error for many hours and found nothing that helps me to solve this issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?Yes, I have verified that the Excel file is not in use or opened by anyone, including me. It has been two months since I opened this particular package, although I have been working with other packages in this project. I just discovered that another
package in the same project has the same problem - all Data Flows that output to an Excel Destination now have the same error icons. This second packages outputs to an entirely different Excel file than in the first package. A summay:
Package #1 has error on every Excel Destination and uses templateA to overwrite fileA and then writes to fileA
Package #2 has error on every Excel Desintation and uses templateB to overwrite fileB and then writes to fileB
Package #3 has no error on any Excel Destination and is linked to multiple files (none are A or B)
Package #1 and #2 are in the same project, but Package #3 is in a separate project .
I will try replacing the Excel files with new ones for Package 1 and 2. -

I am using BIDS Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and running the package to load the data from excel .
My machine has 32 bit excel hence have set property to RUN64BITRUNTIME AS FALSE.
But the error still occurs .
I checked on Google and many have used Delay validation property at Data flow task level to true but even using it at both excel connection manager and DFT level it doesnt work

How to acess a value of variable(calling prg) inside the methods of a class

i wrote a program where i need to acess a value of a variable inside the class method.
for eg:

while debugging under the method 'DISPLAY_LOG' when i want to acess a value of a variable (calling program) i cont get that value but i can acess the value of the variable just before the CALL METHOD statement.
so can any body help me in finding the solution for this.

How to call a BPS Web Interface with predefined selections

I have read and try to implement the "How to... call a BPS Web Interface with predefined selections" but it is not working.
I have one Web Interface called ZXXXXX, then I created one BSP and copied the ABAP code into the Layout screen.
I checked the ABAP and it concatenates and fill the variable l_url, but the page is not displayed.
l_url = /sap/bc/bsp/sap/zxxxxx/zxxxxx.htm
I have checked that I have no errors in the BPS variables and its values.
It just opens internet explorer and the page displays "<<<" in the top of the screen.
I am working with BW7.0 and BPS 3.5.
If anyone can help me it will be rewarded,
