Calling portal page

Is there an API call to call a certain portal page?
The only way i've found a way of doing this is using the following URL:
click here
Where _pageid is different for all pages. This is not very clever in case i decide to change the form at a later stage, or even when i implement the application to a different server the pages might be given different IDs.. So, how can i do this? I'd like to call the different pages (portal pages) using name instead of ID..

Check out the answer to "How can I define a bookmarkable URL for a Portal Page?" from the FAQ, or search for "direct access url" in the online help. It shows you how to call a page by its name.

  • Calling Portal page by name

    In 9iAS Release 1, we can call a specific portal page using the following URL:
    /pls/portal30/url/PAGE/page_name
    Is there any similar url to call pages in Release 2?

    Malin,
    I have tried that earlier. It was not working.
    I just tried with giving page group name as well. Now it's working.
    /pls/portal/url/PAGE/<page_group_name>/<page_name>
    Thanks,

  • Calling portal page from Oracle E-suite

    Hi,
    I want to know how to open a portal application from oracle Application forms. The user logins to Oracle apps, and select the 'portal' responsibility. Then it should open the portal application in a web browser.
    Thanks,
    Nishanth.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick response. In my case, the user logins with a responsibility and clicks on one of the menus named 'open portal' or something similar and then, it should open up the web page. Will that be possible using this function? I understand that you have to define a function to be associated with a menu and things like that. Any pointers in this direction?
    Thanks,
    Nishanth.

  • Calling portal v2 pages with parameters in a jsp

         Hello everybody,
         I'm currently trying to create, in a jsp, a link to a portal-v2 page with parameters.
    Practically :
    [JSP / Portlet 1]
         - a 1st jsp generates some links, all to the same page but each sets a different value to a parameter (for example a productId in a list).
    [JSP / Portlet 2]
         - a 2nd jsp gets this parameter and use it (for example it displays the details of the chosen product).
    So the 1st portlet would be jsp (coded by a portlet designer) and clicking a link would lead to another page (chosen by a page designer) which would hold the 2nd portlet (= 2nd jsp, coded by the same portlet designer).
         Writing the second jsp is easy : getting parameters is described in many examples and pdk articles.
         But I can't find the java methods to use to generate the link. More precisely I don't know how to call the portal page (which would then be a jsp1's parameter). Adding the parameter is well described in the jpdk API-Doc.
         I've tried to use portal events but they seem to work only in an html form. So I supposed it was a wrong way.
    As I've lost myself so many times in the API-Doc and I didn't find any jpdk sample about that, I would be really thankfull if someone has an idea (may I hope for a sample code ? :-)
    Thanks.

    I'm having a similar problem!
    I have a JSP page which I have published as a portlet to Portal. The JSP portlet is placed on Portal a page. I need to call this Portal page with some parameters in the URL, which should get passed to the JSP portlet.
    In the JSP portlet I used this syntax in release 1 to retrieve the URL parameters:
    String p_itemID = request.getParameter("item_id");
    That worked great in release 1, but not in release 2.... I think the problem is that you need to define which parameters a portlet has, then map those portlet parameters to page parameters in the page properties. In dynamic page - portlets you define bind variables to accomplish this. But how do you do in JSP portlets? When you try to map Page Parameters to the JSP portlet you'll find that Portal doesn't think that the JSP portlet has any parameters. Hence the page parameters does not get passed to the portlet.
    (More info: JDBC----getImportedKeys() )
    I've looked at the Multipage example and the forminput example. But I don't see how pass a parameter in the URL to the very first JSP portlet from looking at those examples. I do see how you can pass parameters to the next JSP portlet, but that's not my problem. Maybe I'm missing something obvious...
    Any ideas?

  • Calling a portal page from WebDynPro ABAp application

    Hi,
    I would like to call a portal page (any type) from a WebdynPro ABAP application. I have the PCD location of the page.
    Which call shall I make :
    Absolute Navigation
    Relative Navigation or
    OBN.
    Also, can anyone send me short code snippet on the following.
    The package SWDP test examples are not working.
    Best Regards
    Sid

    Hi Siddharth,
    Well, to start with you can go for ABSOLUTE NAVIGATION.
    Secondly, you can find the snippet here
      DATA LO_API_COMPONENT  TYPE REF TO IF_WD_COMPONENT.
      DATA LO_PORTAL_MANAGER TYPE REF TO IF_WD_PORTAL_INTEGRATION.
      DATA L_NAVIGATION_TARGET TYPE STRING.
      LO_API_COMPONENT = WD_COMP_CONTROLLER->WD_GET_API( ).
      LO_PORTAL_MANAGER = LO_API_COMPONENT->GET_PORTAL_MANAGER( ).
      MOVE 'pcd://portal_content/com.xxxx.zpof_f_XXXXportalcontent/com.xxxx.test/com.xxxx.folders.MaintenanceBusinessPackage/com.xxxx.test.mt.pages.Pages/com.xxxx.pages.MaintenanceTasks'
        to l_navigation_target.
      CALL METHOD lo_portal_manager->NAVIGATE_ABSOLUTE
        EXPORTING
          NAVIGATION_TARGET   = L_NAVIGATION_TARGET
    *      NAVIGATION_MODE     = IF_WD_PORTAL_INTEGRATION=>CO_SHOW_INPLACE
    *      WINDOW_FEATURES     =
    *      WINDOW_NAME         =
    *      HISTORY_MODE        = IF_WD_PORTAL_INTEGRATION=>CO_NO_DUPLICATES
    *      TARGET_TITLE        =
    *      CONTEXT_URL         =
    *      POST_PARAMETERS     = ABAP_FALSE
    *      USE_SAP_LAUNCHER    = ABAP_TRUE
    *      BUSINESS_PARAMETERS =
    *      LAUNCHER_PARAMETERS =
    Above it, the examples of SWDP will not work if you test them from SE80-ABAP WAS...I suggest you to create a WDA IView in Portal and test it in Portal itself.
    Hope this should solve your problem.

  • Calling portal framework page from non portal page

    Hi,
    We are having some difficulty in passing control from the non portal pages to
    the Portal Pages.
    To explain you more elaborately, I am writing down the scenario:
    Both our portal and non portal pages reside under the same web application folder.
    We have a Portal Page containing one portlet.Clicking on one of the hyperlink
    on this portlet page takes us out of the portal environment where we are doing
    some processing.
    (Why we are going out of the portal environment is because we want to call the
    existing pages as it is and our intention is not to make the existing pages portal
    enabled to start with).
    Somewhere down the journey on the non portal page, there is a requirement to call
    the Portal Framework page.
    We can call the portal Framework page from the non portal page by hard coding
    the URL of the Portal page by writing something like this in href:
    http://localhost:7501/application?origin=content.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.portlet.event&pageid=home&portletid=bachome_carsearchlink&wfevent=link.next
    But this is not what we want. We want to call the portal page without hard coding
    the URL.
    If we use portlet tag in non portal page to call the Portal Framework page ( <a
    href="<portlet:createWebflowURL event="link.next"/>">Next Page</a>), it throws
    us error "Could not find current Portlet State" which is quite understandable,
    because portlet state is now lost.
    Is there any way we can achieve this .
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi
    i think you should use portal:createPortalPageChangeURL (you are effectively changing
    your portal page) .
    if you want to invoke a specific event in your portlet webflow you can either
    write a RefreshControllerIP or use WebflowJSPHelper.createWebflowURL.
    bear in mind if you have urls that directly go to an intermediate event in the
    portlets webflow you may need
    http://dev2dev.bea.com/codelibrary/code/portlet_pp.jsp

  • Calling a page without the portal wrap

    I have a portlet with a form in it.
    The form:
    <netui:form action="toggleFavourite" onSubmit="return toggleFavourite(this)">
    If the user has JavaScript DISABLED, the form works like an ordinary form - the page submits itself.
    If the user has JavaScript ENABLED, the "toggleFavourite()" function is called, which submits the form entirely in JavaScript by extracting the target of the form, and calling it in script. This means that the page doesn't have to be reloaded.
    When using the non-JavaScript method, I obviously need the form to submit, and come back with my portal page, including the portlet I submitted from (i.e. exactly as it normally does in WebLogic portals).
    Whe submitting using JavaScript, I don't need the response to include any of the header/footer/pages/other portlets - I just want to return the single page referenced by the Page Flow (i.e. the page specified in the Forward action).
    Is there anything I can add/change in the URL that's submitted in JavaScript to specifically tell the portal server to ONLY return the content within the specific JSP referenced in the Forward action?
    The reason I'm asking this, is that it's a lot slower pulling down the entire portal page, than it would be to just return that single portlet content.
    I hope I've explained this clear enough, but feel free to ask questions.

    Nearly there.
    I can now generate a URL to the portlet, along with parameters to pass in. All that's left to do is trigger the action to make use of the parameters.
    It's beginning to sound very much like a bodge job - like we're trying to do something that hasn't been catered for. I've actually managed to get something working now, using a different bodge. I want to call the current portlet, calling the action "toggleFavourite". I therefore now do this:
    PortletPresentationContext portCtx = PortletPresentationContext.getPortletPresentationContext(request);
    String paramName = portCtx.getInstanceLabel();
    paramName += "_actionOverride";
    String paramValue = portCtx.getPortletUri();
    paramValue = paramValue.substring(0, paramValue.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
    paramValue += "toggleFavourite";
    StandalonePortletURL url = StandalonePortletURL.createStandalonePortletURL(request,response);
    url.addParameter("_nfpb","true");
    url.addParameter(paramName, paramValue);
    String postbackURL = url.toString();
    I then have a form elsewhere in the page, and use JavaScript to take the parameters from the form, and append them to the URL generated above.
    It's working, but it's not pretty!
    Sounds like 9.2 will be the only clean option.

  • Portal form custom button to call new portal page

    Portal 3.0.9
    I can create a portal form componment which sets session variables appropriately based on a custom button. I can get a 2nd component such as a report to read this session variable ok as long as it on the SAME portal page.
    However, how do I get the form (exposed as a portlet on a page) to call A DIFFERENT Portal page which contains a number of application components reading the previously set session variable? I do not want to call the module directly as it will appear in a popup window.
    I've tried using owa_util.redirect_url('page url'); but this gets ignored and the same page is refreshed.
    Any ideas?
    John

    Hi,
    You can call the new page in the success procedure of the form
    example
    declare
    l_url varchar2(2000);
    begin
    l_url := 'cut and paste the page link from the navigator';
    go(l_url);
    end;

    Could you please help me how to call a .html page
    from a Pl/Sql procedure or trigger ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Kalyani KothaKalyani,
    Could you explain a little more exactly what you're trying to acheive? I'm not quite sure what it is you're asking for. Are you asking: "how would you/can you open a browser and direct it to a URL with PL/SQL?"

  • How to show or hide portlets dynamically on a Portal Page

    Dear All
    1. I have a Portal Page with One Portlet in the top having like 5 Buttons. Each button click should display a separate portlet in the bottom on this same page.
    2. I have Top Portlet. For bottom I have 5 Portlets P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5. On my .portal file, I dragged and dropped top portlet and all these 5 Portlets one below each other.
    3. Now, I am trying to use BackingFile approach at PageLevel/Portlet level, to get the details of button clicked in top portlet (like name etc), and then show only one portlet at a time in the bottom section (using portlet backingcontext show/hide APIs). I do need to compare the bottom portlets defintion_label etc. which is fine for now.
    Is this the right approach...?
    Or do I have to use Portlet Custom Event approach. So top portlet will trigger event everytime button is clicked with some payload. And bottom 5 portlets listen to that event and show/hide accordingly. But in this approach, I have to attach backingfile to all the bottom portlets to listen to them.
    All the portlets are Pageflow based Portlets. Any ideas or any other simpler approaches, are highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ravi Jegga

    Hi Kevin
    1. Thanks a lot for the pointers. I will go with Events. So for bottom Portlets, I will use the same BackingFile. But still it is going to be custom Event. Because only one portlet will be shown. So its like my payload will be portlet def label. In Backing File, I will compare this payload with actual dynamic value and if same, show or hide that portlet. Please let me know if this is correct approach.
    2. Now each one of the Bottom Portlets is a complex pageflow portlet with many buttons of their own. So everytime a button is clicked or action is invoked, the Backing File gets called. And I had to somehow know that the same portlet has to be shown or the show/hide logic should not be called. Is there any way, where backing file gets called or just listen for Events triggered only from main top portlet.
    Thanks for the other message, where looks like you already gave lots of pointers. I will go through them.
    I will design and test this out and will keep you posted with my results.
    Thanks a lot again

  • Refreshing a single portlet rather than the whole portal page

    Ok, here's my situation.
    I have two pdk portlets on my portal that communicate through page parameters. Portlet A has a bunch of search fields, a customer drop-down list, parts drop-down list, division, etc. Portlet B takes those parameters, queries the database, and displays the results. I would like to be able to refresh portlet B without reloading the whole portal page.
    I have onchange events on all of my drop-downs that will do a javascript post back to portal, which will in turn set my page parameters, and I see there is a 'refreshPortlet' function in a javascript file that portal provides that will refresh a single portlet based on a portletReferenceId. It is normally called when a refresh button is clicked in the portlet header, but I don't see any reason I can't call it after my javascript post, that is, if I had the portletReferenceId for the other portlet. I thought about making a hidden html table on the page that, I could fill with the portlet names and ids for each portlet as they load, that way I could reference that list from any portlet. The problem is I can't figure out where the ids are coming from. Based on the code behind the button, the function is looking for something like this 646_701285_646_1_701271, but the closest thing I can come up with is this 676114_POSTCONTENTPORTLET_467414915 which I got from PortletRenderRequest.getPortletInstance().getInstanceName(). As you can see, it's not even close. Does anyone know where the correct id could be coming from? It's got to be available to me somewhere, doesn't it?
    The only other option I can think of to accomplish my goal is to use straight up ajax to display portlet B, but that kind of defeats the purpose of portal doesn't it?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    You can use Ctrl+F4 to close the current tab. I don't think that you can change the Alt+F4 action with Keyconfig.

  • How to make Portal Form Submit go back to portal page?

    I'm using a form inside a Dynamic Page portlet so that I can have portal page parameters feed into the form. This works just fine.
    However, when I submit a new record in my form, the page navigates to a page with just my Portal Form and not the Portal Page with the dynamic page that referenced the form. I need to make sure that when users click the insert/submit on my form that it goes back to the Portal Page that houses the Dynamic Page portlet.
    I have logged a TAR but Oracle was unable to resolve it since they can't write code for a customer. Their suggestion was to put this in the pl/sql "Custom" event for the insert button:
    DECLARE
    l_url VARCHAR2(200);
    begin
    l_url:=
    'TARGET=_blank>http://dallas.lacare.org:7777/portal/page?_pageid=154,107011&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL';
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url,'CALL');
    exception
    WHEN OTHERS then
    htp.p(SQLERRM);
    end;
    But that gives me an internal server error when I submit my form.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    David

    Looks like my problem was just the TARGET=_blank> stuff. I change the code to the following:
    DECLARE
    l_url VARCHAR2(200);
    begin
    l_url:=
    '/portal/page?_pageid=154,107011&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL';
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url,'CALL');
    exception
    WHEN OTHERS then
    htp.p(SQLERRM);
    end;
    That works fine and instead of putting it in place of the INSERT button code I left that alone and put it in the "After form processing" pl/sql code. Now it works pretty well. The only thing left to fix is that it loses all my current Page Parameter values when forwarding the url like that.

  • How to display the user in a Portal page?

    This is certainly a qyestion many of you have come across:
    What is the best way to display the portal username in a portal page?
    Thanks in advance for your help,

    From a dynamic page, you'll want to call:
    htp.p(wwctx_api.get_user());
    For info on how to print out other information from their profile, you'll want to review the documented API calls at:

  • Multiple Portal page loads cause Param to become undefined

    Sirs,
    I am new to this so please bear with me. I was very please to
    get SPRY "tab" and "accordion" panels to work in our PORTAL
    (oracle). The only roadblock I came across is beyond my control.
    The portal pages load twice. I cannot change that. On each page I
    have two "separate" tab panels. I need to reference one tab panel
    on another page and am using using "SpryURLUtils" param object to
    do this. The second portal page load cancels it out and instead,
    the last TABBED panel to load (no matter what ID is referenced on
    it) receives the call and opens that panel instead.
    How can I keep the "?tab=0&panel=1#OPENTHECORRECTPANEL"
