CallManager 5.X backup image
Hello guys, i'm trying to find any product that allow us to make a complete backup image of my unix based Callmanagers 5.1(2). I was used to work with Symantec BackupExec (Ghost like image) on CallManager running 4.X but for the moment there is no equivalent for callmanager 5.X
Does anyone have already perform this kind of backup ? Which software can i use for this purpose ?
Thanks a lot.
Julien.
Hi
You don't have the option to install agents on the Linux platform, and you probably won't get remote instigated backups to run as they will not be able to get file system access.
CallManager can kick out a backup on a schedule (configured from CCMAdmin, use the drop down menu on the top right and select 'Disaster Recovery'). This backup is output to an SFTP destination, and from there you can back it up using your standard backup software.
If you need to rebuild the server, you can do so with the DVD and this backup if it's the publisher (it's reasonably fast).

Lenovo S300: will I have trouble creating a backup image with Acronis
I'm thinking of buying a Lenovo S300
Very cheap and lighweight
I want to update all settings (Windows mainly) and then create a backup image that I can always go back to
Can I do this? Will I have any problems?
I bought an ASUS laptop with no disc drive... and basically, there was no way I could boot up with an external DVD drive or USB
I just wanted to make sure before I purchased
Thanks
OmarHi
Which application do you use to create the image?
I use the Symantec ghost and Im very satisfied. I have created an image file which was placed at the second application and if something going wrong Im able to install the OS from the image file.
Furthermore this unit support RAID and the RAID driver must be installed to recognize the HDD. -
Can't drag disk icon in Disk Utility to restore backup image
I'm restoring my MacBook from a backup image I made on my external HD with SuperDuper! and I've run into a big problem. I've booted from my OS X CD. I'm in Disk Utility, and while my external drive mounts and I can select the image in the 'restore' pane, I can't for the life of me drag any icon to the 'destination' field. Any help with this?
Hi
I have exactly the same problem,i backed up my internal HD, and want to restore it by starting my mac mini intel single core with the original delivered os dvd including diskutilities.But no way it is not possible to drag a volume or partition to the required field to the left.I called apple support and the guy did not understand what I'm talking about at all, and told me he will forward to the developer dep.
Never mind, I recovered the mac mini intel with ccc , thanks God I did an image backup and a ccc !
Yesterday my mac mini intel audio hardware has broken, so I have to do another bkp with booted up os dvd to bring in to a serviceprovider.
Tried to recover for security issues , but disk utilitiy did not work again , no drag 'n' drop possible - this problem never exists under powermac before and its driving me mad under intel macs
I did a trick to show thats it is definitely the revision of this os dvd and disk utilities (x86 intel rev.)
I did a clean install form this os dvd, then cloned the interal harddisk to a external firewire disk making it bootable (using ccc for all)
I did no software update just clean from the dvd, restarted , choosed external firewire harddisk, et voila - opened disk utilitiy to restore dmg image for the internal hd and drag 'n' drop works without problems!!
Resumee:
my delivered os dvd 10.4.5 AHT vesrion 3A102 disc version 1.0 2Z691-5738-A has the biggest bug of all, it can not recover a backed up image at all - that is a revision e.g. release bug (error).
I will have to return this dvd !

Restore Password Manager .pwd File from Backup Image after HDD crash
Hi
After a HDD crash i try to recover my Password Manager pwd File from a Backup Image. In the Image the file is located in "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\XXX\Anwendungsdaten\Lenovo\Client Security Solution"
But if i try to import it the PW-Manager asks for a Password. But no PW works. Not the Windows PW (same as before) or not the Sec-Chip PW works. I tryed to copy the pwd File into the same folder but it´s not recordniced from the PW Manager.
Can somebody help me please to get my Passwords back?
thanks
CoolskinHi,
that saved passwords were stored also in TPM chip, so if Password maanger can not find them there , what is obvious, then I dont think, that this will work.
However it would be a test to install CSS withtou TPM recognision. Uninstall CSS and install CSS with EMULATIONMODE =1, this will install CSS in software emulation mode and do not need to contact with hardware TPM.
To be honest I never tried this scenario, but in if I would be in your situation, then I would test it just to see.
However I don't give it a big chance, that this will work.
Sorry for bad news

I'm running 7.6.100.0 as default in production and wants wlc to boot with 7.5.102.0 if I run into issues regarding the 7.6.100.0.
To prepare I have predownloaded the backup image into all AP's.
However, if one AP reboots while the WLCis still running 7.6.100.0 the AP has an invalid primary image and need to re-download 7.6.100.0.
The backup image is then displayed as "3.0.51.0".
If someone reboots the AP, the reboot time is much longer than usually.
And the download might be an issue for some offices in Middle-East and Asia, since the WLC i located in Europe.
Due to some small VPN internet access lines.
This is something that came with version 7.6.100.0.
Before I upgraded the WLC, I was running 7.5.102.0 as primary and 7.3.112.0 as backup, with no issues regarding reboots and image.
Have anyone encounter this type of problem?
Any tips to solve this is much appreciated.
//Jan-ErikThanks, Fella for you feedback!
UPDATE
First of all I have narrow it down and found out that the 1130,1140, 1240 and 1250 are OK
AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 reboots and starts with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 7.5.102.0 status; OK
AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 reboots and starts with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 7.5.102.0 status; OK

AIR-LAP1252AG-T-K9 reboots and starts with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 7.5.102.0 status; OK
It seems to be related to the 2602 and 3602 series.
Let me described the steps I did to pinpoint these two models.
AIR-CAP2602I-E-K9
1. New-out-of-the-box and runs prim: 7.3.1.73 backup: 0.0.0.0;
2. Self-upgrade prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0. status; Downloading
3. reboots and starts with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0.
4. Manual upgrade / predownloading backup to; 7.5.102.0
5. rebooting from wlc with prim: 7.6.100.0, backup: 7.5.102.0 -comment; starts up with 7.5.1.73 and does the downloading of prim image. Backup: 0.0.0.0
6. self-reboot after downloading, prim: 7.6.100.0. Comes up with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0.
7. reboots from wlc/manual with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0. -comment; no change, comes up with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0.
AIR-CAP3602E-E-K9
1. reboots from WLC and manual with prim: 7.6.100.0, backup: 3.0.51.0 - comment; no problem, comes online with 7.6.100.0/3.0.51.0.
2. Manual upgrade / predownloading backup to; 7.5.102.0
3. rebooting from wlc with prim: 7.6.100.0, backup: 7.5.102.0 -comment; starts up with 7.3.1.73 and does the downloading of prim image. Backup: 0.0.0.0
4. self-reboot after downloading, prim: 7.6.100.0. Comes up with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0.
5. reboots from wlc/manual with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0. -comment; no change, comes up with prim: 7.6.100.0 backup: 3.0.51.0.
During upgrade it gives out this message;

Time Capsule "Deleted backup image"
Hi!
As usual, the Time Machine went on, except that a message prompted for backup consolidation.
Since 1.4 TB out of the 2 TB of Time Capsule are used and a 75% disk usage is fine, I answered yes.
Problem is, Time Machine actually erased my whole year of backups!
Here's the log from Console:

Is there really no way to make Time Machine simply ignore old backups?
Not really.
First, each is identified to the Mac that made it, via a file in the sparse bundle that contains the Mac's hardware address. This is so you can back up 2 or more Macs to the same TC, since you can't partition the TC's disk (and also allows you to change the name of the Mac, or even have 2 with the same name, without causing havoc).
Second, if the Verify procedure finds a problem it can't fix, it marks the sparse bundle as damaged, and won't back up to it again. You may be able to restore selected files, or even a whole backup, as long as you don't hit the damaged spot(s), but as long as that sparse bundle exists, identified to your Mac, Time Machine won't create a new one.
In theory, you could alter the identification file, but then you'd find it impossible, or at least very difficult, to use the sparse bundle for anything.
What you could do is connect a USB drive to the TC and "archive" the disk, including the damaged sparse bundle, to it, per the green box in #Q6 of Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule, then delete the damaged original (or let Time Machine do that). You can view and restore selected items from it, via the Browse... option, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17. But remember, those backups are damaged -- somewhere, something(s) aren't right, so results will be unpredictable.

My hard drive is full of these, and I wish to clear all but the latest backup image to save space!
Are there any other suggestions to rid myself of these excess space-consuming backups?from this support article: About Backups
iTunes keeps only one backup created during the sync process for each device. If you restore the iPad and choose to set up as a new device from the Set Up your iPad screen, iTunes will automatically sync and create a new, empty backup that will replace your previous backup.
you will also find the location of the backups in the article. -
RMAN clone; Avoid backup image
Oracle 10.2.0.5
When cloning databases with RMAN on ASM, it creates a backup image before restoring the backup to a clone. Whenever I clone a database, I need double amount of storage to do it.
Is there way to clone a database in ASM and avoid the additional backup image?
I appreciate the help.
Thank youHi Philippe,
I really appreciate your post, doing things that seem impossible to be possible. (such as to duplicate (online) a database in 10g without restore). :)
I decided to complement your post doing duplicate using ASM.
I did not make step by step, but for any Senior DBA can understand.
P.S: For All:
Be very careful to do this using ASM because you can damage or remove your target database if the parameters(init<instance_name>.ora) are not configured correctly.
I created/used a different diskgroup from that used by the target database, for precaution and safety.

Time Machine Error - The backup image could not be mounted
Bought two new MacBooks.
Put first MacBook on LAN connected to TC.
1. Selected Use Time machine Backup
Selected TC
It then sat there for 3 hours "Checking Time Machine Backup.....
The only way out was to power off and power on again
Did 1 again, and again , and again
By now the two iMacs are now reporting either the backup image is Read Only followed by The backup image could not be mounted!!!!
So it seems that the two new MacBooks cannot use TM backups and c]have corrupted our backups!!
Tried calling Apple Care, which I paid for both MacBooks - but they had closed. That was a very useful £400 spent!!!!!!
Arrrrrrgh I had just been bragging about how easy Macs made things
Very frustrating
If I cannot get these going tonight they are back in the box and back to the store in the morningOK
Called Applecare - took out the £195 Applecare option when I purchased the MacBook.
The AppleCare guy told me said first:-
The TimeCapsule is broken take it in for repairs.
I pointed out the TC was working fine.
Then :-
After explaining again that the Macbook had been sitting for several hours saying it had 1 minute to go before finishing.
"My supervisor says Macs take longer to do things than PCs, give it another two hours then if it still hasn't finished it's last minute call us back.
I challenged him on this he put me on hold again for 10 mins and eventually hung up on me.
That was why I paid and extra £195 for telephone support!!!
Called back again and very helpful guy walked me through some options and escalated to Tier 2, couldn't get anywhere so the only thing left now is to return the MacBooks to the store.
It Appears that Macbooks are incompatible with the Time Capsule.
Never mind Windows 7 is coming soon and I am hearing good things about it. -
I continually get this message: The TM could not complete backup. The backup image "/Volumes/Data/....'s computer_001ec21b890f.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error 1).?
Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

Can't imaging something not being covered there. -
Hello I use next html code (it is generated by java script)
for showing flash:
<object
id="BridgeMovie" width="600" height="400"
classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"

<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />

src="NetBeansEditor2.swf"
name="BridgeMovie" align="middle"
play="true" loop="false" quality="high"

width="600" height="400" scale="exactfit"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspage="
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</embed>
</object>
Could I use somehow backup image if my flash will not loaded?
So the problem is: the link to the flash file could be bad
and flash will not be loaded.
If ir happens I would like to show some default image. How
could I point it to object\embed tags to work in suxh way?
May be some mechanisms exist in java script?
Thanks.Sorry about that - I'm running v 8.0(3) on a PIX 525.
One issue I'm going to have is that the PIX only has 16MB of flash and between the ASDM and the Image itself I don't have enough room to store an alternate system boot image. Not sure if it's upgradable to 32mb+ I'll have to check. (Obviously I could always delete the asdm image and clear room for an upgrade - just thinking longer term.)
After reading the link you provided I'm still unclear on the "boot system flash:/pix803.bin" syntax. Can I enter multiple flash locations (repeat that command) or do I have to select a different location/medium? It seems the PIX525 can't boot from TFTP(?).
Thanks for your advice. -
I have rebooted in Mountain Lion (all updated)on my MacBook Pro and keep getting this error:
"Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to (drive). The backup image (myvolume).sparesebundle is already in use.)
I have a 2TB time machine with about 240GB left. Any ideas?
Thanks, JeffPlease look over to the right side of this page under the heading of More Like This for multiple answers and solutions.

Is there a good backup / imaging solution for Windows 10, yet?
I'm waiting for Veeam Endpoint 1.1 to hit, supposedly within the next week or two.
We upgraded one laptop at home and I wasn't very surprised to find out that the backup / imaging program we were using on Windows 7 (Backup Exec System Recovery) stopped working. It's a nice program that I've been using for years - creates a base image then incrementals on a schedule. Allows for simple full bare metal recovery or for file recovery by mounting an image inside the program.
Have any of you tested anything similar in Windows 10?
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community -
I am unable to delete the backup images I created using R&R v4.2. I would like to delete all my back ups (which now occupy 60 GB) and replace with a more optimized backup. A lot of forums suggest that I log in to windows in safe mode and then delete the files under RBBackups.
I would have preferred doing it from the R&R v4.2 GUI - however, I get the unable to delete error message because of lack of space. That seems ironic given that I am deleting these backups to create more space. Can anyone out there help me?
Thanks
KMRick,
No, if you delete the "deleted" images, they're gone, for good. They're only moved there once -- so it's a "last chance" depot.
BTW this is pretty easy to try for yourself. Delete that 8 GB file, then do another backup to vault, and you'll see only images deleted since your last vault backup will appear there. -
TC error: "backup image cannot mount"
hi
i did an initial backup with ethernet cable (400GB)
