Calls between landline service and cell service

If this question is not appropriate, please delete.  My question is:  I have landline service.  I receive a call from a cell phone.  I am not home so my message unit records the message from the cell phone caller.  The cell phone caller leaves me his cell phone number and requests that I return his call.  How can I detect if the cell phone number is a long distant call for me or it is a local call?
Thank you

The only way to easily see is to dial it without area code. If it lets you call it without the area code, its a local number. If not, then its a long distance call.

  • Calls between the UK and abroad – Clarification

    Now we are in the summer holiday season, I have seen a number of posts asking questions about calling abroad and/or calls from abroad. There is a good guide to using your handset abroad, and things to do before departing Here but despite that there seems to be a lot of confusion about what is chargeable when making or receiving international calls. I hope that the following gives some clarification regarding call and text charges:All of the following examples assume you are using a UK registered mobile (prefixed +44), and the account has international roaming and international calling activated.Individual plans may have inclusive allowances for some of the following. CALLS WHEN IN THE UK:If you are in the UK, you are not charged to receive calls from other phones, whether they are UK or foreign registered, and regardless of where they are at the time of the call.The only time a UK registered mobile can be charged for an incoming call while in the UK is if that call originates from a subscription service, such as certain information or callback services. If you are in the UK, calling another UK number will be a standard call, regardless of where the person you are calling is located. If they are outside the UK at the time of the call, THEY get charged for the international part of the call – that is the roaming charge. If you are in the UK, calling a number registered to a different country will be charged as an international call to the country where that number is registered.For example, if you call an Irish number (prefixed +353) you will be charged the international rate for calling Ireland from the UK. If the person you are calling is not in Ireland at the time, they will be charged for the international part of the call from Ireland to wherever they are.If they are standing next to you in the UK at the time, you both pay international charges – you pay for the call to Ireland, and they pay for it to come back! CALLS WHEN ROAMING (OUTSIDE THE UK)If you are outside the UK, you will be charged the incoming call charge appropriate to your location for any calls you receive, regardless of where those calls originate, and whether they are from UK or foreign registered numbers. If you are outside the UK, you will be charged for any calls you make – the exact charge can vary depending if you are calling a UK number, a local number where you are located, or a number registered to a third country.For example, if you are in the Ireland, calls to UK numbers are charged at one rate, calls to Irish or EU numbers at a different rate, and calls to somewhere like the USA would be charged at yet another rate. Details of both incoming and outgoing call charges by country can be found in the roaming pages HERE.In many countries there is a single rate for all outgoing calls, regardless of where to. TEXTS:With regard to text messages, you should never be charged for an incoming text wherever you are, (unless it has come from a subscription service such as football results or Orange Wednesdays). Sending texts tends to follow a similar pattern to making calls:If you are in the UK, any text to a UK registered phone is a “standard” text, and any text to a foreign registered phone will be charged at a rate depending on where the phone is registered. If you are outside the UK, any text you send will incur charges as shown on the roaming pages, the charges can vary depending on which country the target phone is registered to. ADD-ONSIf you expect to incur charges based on the above, then it is worth checking out the add-ons available for roaming, and for calling abroad.  Hope that helps!

    Hi,
    I just called EE and they said this is not entirely correct. If you are in the UK at the time of call and you're calling outside of the EU then you will be charged the international fee.
    According to EE, it differs from plan to plan. I'm on 4G Extra which allows me to use texts and minutes as per normal within the EU but if I contact someone outside of the EU I will get charged for the calls and texts.

    when i try to place a call to someone who has FaceTime on an iPod Touch, she says she doesn't receive any calls and i get eventually get a "FaceTime failed" after a few rings. if the other party calls me (i'm using MacBook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.1) and i answer, at first, it will say "Connecting..." then it will then show a "FaceTime failed". We both powered off our devices to no avail. Any ideas?

  • How to use Javascript NQSWENav calls between Apache/OBIEE and MS-IIS/Siebel

    Hoping someone can help me. We're upgrading systems, moving from Analytics 7.7 to OBIEE 10.1.3. Analytics Web used to sit on same IIS web server as Siebel CRM. In Analytics 7.7 I used:
    [html]"<a href=\"javascript:NQSWENav('All Activity List View','Activity List Applet With Navigation','"@"'); \">"@" </a> "
    to allow report links to open the CRM Activity window (where "@" was populated with the value of ROW_ID). This worked in an environment where both CRM & Analytics resided on the same Windows machine and shared the same IIS web server.
    We have now upgraded Analytics 7.7 to OBIEE 10.1.3, and have moved OBIEE to a much more robust AIX machine which runs an Apache web server. My users do not want to loose the functional ease of running a report in embedded Analytics, clicking a link, and navigating to the relevant CRM form.
    This functionality is no longer working in the new split environment. I'm not surprised by this, but would like to get it working again if possible. Does anyone know how to get this to work across hosts and web servers?

    Hi Redneck,
    the OBI web server and Siebel web server must share the same virtual IP. Excerpt from the original doc:
    [snip]Also, the host name for the Web server (or Virtual IP) serving content from the Siebel application server must match that for the Siebel Analytics Web Server, because the JavaScript Security model prevents a script on one server from affecting another.[snip]

    We had this already a couple of times and putting the two web servers under the same virtual IP will do the trick for you.

    You correct it by NOT executing function calls as part of the UPDATE statement.
    1. Issue the function calls BEFORE the update statement

    3. use those variables in the UPDATE statement.

  • CAC Not limiting bandwidth or phone calls between locations.

    Hello, I'm running a test set up with a couple locations and attempting to make several calls between them to test the CAC bandwidth limits.
    The bandwidth limit between Location A and Location B is set to 50kbps.
    3 Phones 7940s are in Location A and 1 CIPC is in location B (When looking at Devices > Phones, it shows their respective Location A DP and Location B DP.  Regions are set up and G.729 is used between the locations.  I know regions are working, because when I look at call statistics, it shows the G.729 8kpbs used instead of the 711.
    I can place 4,5,6 or however many calls between the two locations and they all go through. I'm not sure why I'm not getting the "Bandwidth limit exceeded" and Location just isn't working. I've tried deleting and re-creating the locations.
    Any thoughts? Thank you very much for your consideration.

    Hello Harvey,
    First of all LCAC and E-LCAC require 24 kbps for a single G.729 call.
    Your are running CUCM 9.x which introduced Enhanced Location CAC.
    E-LCAC employs LBM service and uses Call Treatment When No LBM Available CUCM service parameter  to decide how to proceed if LBM is not available.
    For a fresh install LBM service is down and the latter param is set to Allow Calls.
    So please navigate to Serviceability and check if Cisco Location Bandwidth Manager service is activated and running.
    Once you confirm that:
    SSH to your server and issue file tail activelog cm/trace/lbm/sdl * recent to see requests for bandwidth deduction in real time,
    Make a test call and you should see something like:
    00117318.001 |20:12:09.240 |AppInfo  |LBMServer - Received from CallManager:
    msg = {
      messageId = (881)
      msgkey = ()
      nofwd = (0)
      choice = (reservationReq)
      reservationReq = (
        transId = (12071793471388647784)
        seqNum = (0)
        choice = (reserve)

            loc = (TEST2)
            fs_id = (StandAloneCluster:27335819)
            ext = ()
          <snip/>
          a_bw = (24)
    This is a request to deduct 24 kbps from the audio pool for a call between locations TEST1 and TEST2.
    Next it will show you the actual deduction (160 kbps audio pool has - 24 kbps for a G.729 accounts for 136 kbps left):
    00117323.010 |20:12:12.350 |AppInfo  |LBM: RES_REC add Edge TEST1->TEST2. Left=136, Calls=1
    00117323.011 |20:12:12.350 |AppInfo  |LBM: RES_REC add Edge TEST2->TEST1. Left=136, Calls=1
    Let me know if that helps.

  • FaceTime volume issue between iPad Air and iPad 2

    I've noticed that when making FaceTime calls between iPad Air and iPad 2, the volume on iPad 2 is too soft and the volume on iPad Air is too loud. This only occurs between 2 different type of iPads. If both parties use the same type, the volumes on both sides are roughly the same and loud enough to be heard clearly. I've also verified with Skype which produced roughly the same loudness when video calling between an iPad Air and an iPad 2.
    Just hope Apple can take notice of this issue and rectify in the new iOS release.

    Yeah, what's up with this? I too have PDF's I want to sync between iPhone5s and new iPadAir. I'm not having luck!. You would think it would be SIMPLE!

  • Difference between Business service, Business system and Business process

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me the difference between Business service, Business system and Business process?
    Thanks,
    Harikumar. S

    Hi,
    <b>Business system</b>
    It is a logical system from a business point of view.
    One or more logical systems that belong together from a business point of view is called a group of Business system group. A business system group represents a unit within a company or organization that can be defined according to legal, economic, administrative or geographic factors.
    The objects in a business system group are uniquely identified by a uniform numbering system.
    <b>Business process</b>
    Business procedure within an enterprise that uses resources and can involve activites from a number of different cost centers in a controlling area.
    When executing a business process, activities can be utilized for several cost centers of a controlling area.
    <b>Business service</b>
    It’s a third party system.
    All these belong to a Business Scenario which is
    Description of the flow of business processes according to a business typology. A business scenario represents a template for a business process, which runs within a particular area of a company process. All processes required to completely process the task are listed in chronological order in the scenario. Business scenarios can be described graphically, in either aggregated or detailed form (EPC). Example: Direct sale to industrial recipient

    Hi,
    Activity means e.g.. sales call, customer visit etc.

  • Diff between Business service and Business System?

    HI Experts,
      Pls let me know wht is the difference between business service and business system??
    when we will have to go for business service and when for business system??
    thnx in advance..
    New XI

    Hi,
    Difference between Business Service and Business System are :
    1) Business sytem require all details like login user id
    password require to create but in case of business service
    log in details does not require..
    2) A Business System  is purely for SAP-Systems and
    Business Service for Non-SAP systems
    3) Business service refers to any business applications where
    as the business system is defined in SLD(System Landscape
    Directory)
    4) When we have full details of application system the we are
    going to use the business system and it is created in the
    SLD so we dont have authorization to change the business
    system name.
    When we have partial details or no details of Technical
    system then we r going to use the business service. it is
    created in the ID. we can see and change it.
    5) A Business system is something that physically exists
    For example, if u want to download a file from a system
    ABC, by using file adapter and then want to update the
    content of this file into r/3 database by using RFc,then
    the system  abc and the r/3 will be ur business systems
    i.e. they physically exists. Business Systems are
    configured in SLD.
    Business service is mostly usedin B2B Scenario (cross-
    component),where you don't know the Business System of your
    partner. In other words business Service will be used only
    for those partners which do not have a physical landscape
    set up . Business servces do not have an entry in SLD.
    6) A Business Service is an Abstract Unit(which is not in
    System Landscape Directory) addressing Senders and
    Receivers of Messages.
    Physicals systems which use their communication channels
    and routing rules to communicate with other systems are
    called as Application Systems OR physical systems.
    7) In simple when u going for A2A integration then we define
    our Technical systems are Business system. If we r going
    for B2B integration then we dont know the complete
    information about the other end Business Landscape so, we
    configure it as a Business Services. Business system are
    created at SLD. Where as a Business Services are created at
    Integration Directory.
    8) Business systems:
      These are logical senders or receivers that exchange
    messages by using the Integration Server and that are
    entered in the System Landscape Directory.
    The business systems in the System Landscape Directory
    relate to a system landscape. The business systems of
    business partners are therefore not entered in the System
    Landscape Directory. To be able to address such business
    partners logically, use communication components in the
    Integration Directory. A business system is a way of
    specifying a communication component in the Integration
    Directory more precisely (business system component).
    Hope this will hwlp u..

    Pinangshuk.

  • OSB Dynamic service call or dynamic route and transactions

    Hello,
    I've got the following problem in my OSB architecture for asynchronous incomming services.
    OSB version is 10.3.1
    ConnectionFactory is XA
    Problem domain:
    Dynamic service call or dynamic route within transaction boundary
    Elements within transaction:
    1.     JMS Queue ->
    2.     Upper Proxy Service (De-queue) ->
    3.     Lower Proxy Service (Canonical Service) ->
    4.     Business Service (Data Service) ->
    5.     Database Adapter->
    6.     Database
    Dynamic element
    Upper Proxy Service (De-Queue) must be able to determine which Lower Proxy Service (Canonical Service) has to be called on the basis of the message taken from the JMS Queue without losing the transaction (this doesn’t work yet).
    Already tried possible solutions:
    •     Make a service call dynamic by setting the $inbound name attribute. This results in a this property is read-only error.
    •     Use a Dynamic route instead of a service-call. This results in a loss of transaction. The message is deleted from the Queue without taking failure or success into account.
    •     Use a Dynamic route with a quality of service set to exactly once in the header. This seems to be ignored, results in a loss of transaction.
    •     Use a Dynamic route with an explicit reply with failure for errors. Results in a loss of transaction.
    •     Use a Dynamic Publish. This doesn’t fit the required flow because it has no response.
    I hope someone can shed some light on this because I'm at a total loss. I found some references in the forum to what seems to be the same problem but without definite answers. A work-around is also a viable answer.
    Regards,
    Bas Mul

    Hi,
    I'll try to clarify.
    Upper proxy dequeues a message.
    Depending on a value of a specific tag within the message a canonical proxy service (out of 5 at the moment but this numer could increase) has to be called (and be dynamic transform transformed to the format of the specific canonical).
    The canonical service must then pass the message to a database adaper's business service which is responsible for the database insert/update/read.
    If something in the chain from dequeue to database action goes wrong the message may not dissapear from the queue.
    Somehow a dynamic route in the message flow between dequeue proxy and canonical proxy breaks the transaction.
