Calls dropped and phone reboots after ios4 upgrade

After upgrading to ios4.3.3 from ios3.1.3, my calls get dropped/disconnected and the phone reboots. This happens even if I have no apps open in the multi tasking bar.
Can you advise what to do please.
I have tried to restore to factory settings in iTunes but it just reinstalls the latest version.
I have also tried to reinstall the 3.1.3 by downloading the ipsw file but it will not install.
Is there an update coming out soon for this as the phone is getting to be pretty much unusable.
Regards,
Danish.

I took it to the apple store and they ran a diagnostics which was fine. They like you suggested to restore as NEW phone, they rekoned it might be a poorly written app in the backup which was causing the problem.
Therefore only reinstall apps tested on iOS4.
This has solved the problem.
I did search the forum but didn't see anything, however as soon as I had posted I saw a thread with several pages on the issue with no solution but lots of theories so I did start to worry.
Thanks.
Danish.

  • Lost Ipod Remote, Bluetooth stability, slow and phone reboots with IOS4\3G

I just recently downloaded the 4.0.1 updated hoping it woud fix many of the issues I had after installing IOS4.0. Since installing the OS I have lost (I have verified these same issues on my wifes phone so it is not HW specific) the following functionality with my 3G:
    1) I can no longer start my Ipod from the remote clicker on my head phones. If the IPOD applicaton is running it will start and stop fine, but it used to start playing music even if the IPOD app wasn't active.
    2) Bluetooth seems very instable. I have had it disconnect occasionally during calls but can restore the connection if I select the device again.
    3) several applications take a very long time to load. If we don't reboot our phones avery 5-7 days, eventualy text and other applications will crash on launch until I reboot. THen the phone is snappy again for about a day. (memory leak??)
    4) 3 times on my phone and 2 times on my wifes phone while usingit (all three of mine have been using the built in text message app) The phone has re-booted (more than 50% full battery) I erased my text message history and no improvement/change.
    5) Google Maps takes forever to show my location on the map and initial guesses at my location seem to be off by 100s of miles (before it would narrow in on my location over the first 10 seconds, but it now takes 30-40 seconds and seems to not even know which side of the city I am on anymore...)
A few other things but not sure how repeatable they are, but the experience so far has been very frustrating... I have heard of other issues with IOS4, but haven't seen some of these issues. And now my questions..
    A) Is there a way to downgrade to 3.1.3 or other via I-tunes (don't want to jailbrake the phone) or know if/when and update will be available to address some of these issues?
    B) Is the iphone4 having similar issues (or is this 3g specfic)?
    C) Any tips to fixing any of these issues? (I tried turning off all notifications as was in one post but it didn't help as they are already off..)

Ha, true! But, you don't really need to update to 4.1 to do this. it's data management common sense. I'll bet 90% of the people that are complaining on this board, haven't reinstalled their OS on their laptop/computer in 2+ years. I do it every year to prevent OS slowdown.
When you move, don't you clean out your closet?
Back to the phone: I've been running this way for 24+ hours now, and I am THRILLED that my phone is fast, snappy, responsive to every screen and touch. I'm not afraid to open Google Maps and get a location and find a thing. I can use PadMapper now and find a home.
Every app that I need, I just keep adding, but I doubt I'll put the Vuvuzela, Mood Phone, Rainstick.....just stupid apps that I never open.
However, More Cowbell went back on. One can never have enough cowbell!

  • ICal lost end dates and ∞ sync conflicts after iOS4 upgrade

After upgrading my sacrificial iPod 3 (I’m waiting to upgrade my main iPhone 3GS) and synchronizing it to my home MacBook Pro 2007 17", I got huge numbers of old repeating meeting which seem to have lost their end-date, e.g., “Palm-size PC Porting Lab” on June 28th this millennium, which I assure you is an error. I restored from a desktop backup, overwrote the iOS4 Calendar data, and synced again.
After that, I had a miserable day full of a dozen or so Resolve Sync Conflicts dialogs—sometime three or four in a row after a single, very slow, sync. Several times two sync processes used up all my real memory (using over a gigabyte, out of three) and once it even used up all my disk space (I had 29G free). I also had a few rounds of conflict on my work MacBook Pro 2009 13", synced via MobileMe.
Some historical notes: My calendar data is quite large, going back to Newton days via PalmOS, and iPhone OS 3 never handled it properly, e.g., both search and over-the-air sync are broken on my 3.1.3 iPhone. MobileMe sync data also gets corrupted every few weeks. And “Palm-size PC” was Microsoft’s court-ordered renaming of their trade-mark infringing Palm PC.
    Macaulay‘s Law of Software Upgrades:
“To think nothing of symmetry and much of convenience; never to remove an anomaly merely because it is an anomaly; never to innovate except when some grievance is felt; never to innovate except so far as to get rid of the grievance.”

Deleting my caches per http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481, and restoring and rebooting a couple of times, seems to have shut up the warnings, at least for now, but there's still some data loss, e.g., two meetings on 6/21 and 6/22 don't show up any more on my main Mac, but do show up on both my sacrificial iOS4 iPod, and my real 3.1.3 iPhone. (I’m also having trouble with a Note failing to sync from my iPad, but I haven’t tried that yet since nuking my caches.)

  • Constant reboot after IOS4 upgrade Solved!

I too was having the dreaded error 29 code and stuck in recovery mode along with the 5 minute constant reboot since upgrading to IOS4 two days ago. I had to use Blackra1n to get it out of recovery. Blackra1n will NOT jailbreak IOS4 but will fix the stuck recovery mode problem. I also had previously replaced the battery with a higher capacity mAh. the upgrade to v3.1.3 went perfect. Only when I upgraded to IOS4 did things change. It would constantly reboot and the battery was slowly draining and would not recharge. I poured through countless forum posts and tried most all of them. Then this evening I found a post somewhere in this forum about possibly the battery was causing the problem. So I got out my tools and put the original battery back in and booted up. It got to the front screen and immediately a bunch of old calendar events started popping up which was different than before. I cleared them all and I have now had my iphone on steady for over an hour and not one reboot. Battery is also now recharging off my laptop.
So long story short, if you've replaced your battery at some point, put it back in or hopefully an OEM with same APN: 616-0434 (#for my iPhone). Everything is now working in IOS4!

  • Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade

Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
    I have tried these:
    1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
    2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
    Thoughts and suggestions?

Have you tried resetting (Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears) and starting the set up again?

That is because that sync ability (for contacts and calendars) has been removed. Use iCloud instead.

  • 7962 VOIP Phone Dies After switch upgrade/reboot

    Hi
Recently I upgraded several access swicthes (2960, 3650's) which have POE and Cisco 7962 phones connected.  After the upgarde and subsequent reboot, the IP phones failed to power up and are effectively dead.
All that happen on the phone now is that when the POE cable is connected, the phones mute button LED light flashes before the spekaer LED lights up and remains lite up.
Approx 5 phones across multiple switches have died this way.
Can anyone tell me if this is a behaviour they have experience and how they may have recovered from it.

I am searching for a power adapter now.
Yes - appears to be only 7962
The Watts are displaying as 7.0 as opposed to the normal 6.3 and the Device ID is showing IEEE PD
    Version 12.2(55SE9)

  • Backlight not coming on after call ended and phone returned to horizontal

Hi all. As from the title, the Iphone would not lit the backligt and get ready for use after ending the call, while the screen has gone to "sleep" and is beeing tiled down to horizontal position to be used...
I have to touch the Main button to keep usiong it.
Most of all I need is confirmation it is about hardware issue. Setting are o.k.
    Looking forward for your experiences.
    Cheers...

Another thing to look at. Did you initiate the call? If not, was the phone locked when you received the call. If the phone was locked when you received the call, then the phone will relock when the call is over. This is normal operation.
If you initiated the call and when you end it the phone goes dark, then that is not normal operation. Check what the previous poster said, and if necessary, go through the troubleshooting procedures, power phone off/on, reset, restore from backup or as new phone. Go as far as needed in the troubleshooting until the phone functions normally.

  • Issue after iOS4 upgrade

iPhoto no longer recognizes/displays photos on my iPhone that have been saved via mms, email or 3rd party app (i.e. colorsplash) after recent upgrade to iOS4. It does show a photo placeholder and will ultimately import the photo but it will not display the photo. Displaying photos taken with the phone itself does not seem to be an issue.

Same issue, but it seems to get worse over time. At first it was just the 3rd party camera apps that iPhoto only displayed dotted white outline. And as you said, if you highlight it, iPhoto imports the picture.
But, it seems to get worse for me. After awhile, even the native camera app gets the same treatment and when you try to import the outlines, you get an error, where iPhoto says the picture format is invalid.
If you delete the cache --user-->library-->cache-->com.apple.iphoto, it seems to reset things for awhile, allowing you to import the dotted outlines once again.

  • RME - CLI reboot after IOS upgrade?

    Hi,
Is there any way for RME to invoke a CLI reboot after an image upgrade job?  I maintain a network without SNMP RW permissions.
    LMS 3.2
    RME 4.3.1
    network devices - switches -  mainly 3750(regular/g/e), 3560(regular/g), and a few 2950's.

You could create a Netconfig job to do this.  Netconfig has a template for reloading a device.  You could do this automatically by creating a script which gets called when the SWIM job finishes.  The script could call cwcli to create a Netconfig job.  For example:
cwcli netconfig createjob -u admin -p admin -devicelist rtr1 -commandfile cmd.dat -description "cwcli job to reload rtr1" -mode enable
The contents of cmd.dat would be:
    reaload

  • Won't reboot after app upgrade

I upgraded the NFL app for my Blackberry Curve and it had me reboot. When I did that, it got to the start screen with the meter on the bottom, which fills up, but it doesn't go any further.
I've done the battery pull and left it out, restarted using alt-right shift-del numerous times, but it always gets stuck at the same place. I have a new computer and loaded the blackberry desktop, but it cannot recognize my phone because it does not fully boot.
Can anyone help me get past this?

I just read somewhere that older (2006?) iMacs can take 4GB and will show that in About this Mac, but only use 3GB.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2821
    Could that be your issue?
I came here trying to find out why mine won't boot at all after the upgrading from 2x1GB to 2x2GB.

  • [SOLVED] ((none)) login/tty and no keyboard after last upgrade?

    Hi,
I dual boot and it's been a while since I last upgraded. I booted into Arch, updated everything, and used the system for a few days before rebooting (perhaps a bad call). I just rebooted today and my login prompt is like this:
    ((none)) tty1
    (none) login:
But my keyboard does nothing. No alt+f* to get to a different terminal, no nothing. I have to hard kill the machine. I've tried twice but would prefer not to do that more than I have to. The second time, fsck didn't work so I booted into the Arch install disk and ran it manually. I tried to chroot into my Arch install and re-run pacman -Syu but got transient server failures. Not sure what all needs to be in place to try and do that, though.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before? I get the same behavior with arch and arch fallback. I boot to login prompt, not directly to X so it's not anything to do with that, at least not that I would figure.
So far, the only thing I've been able to find is from 2007 (LINK) but it seemed related to X. I'm going to check rc.conf next time I boot up but wanted to see if there's any other suggestions from someone more experience before I boot up again and potentially have to hard kill.
    Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions.

    @Knute: indeed.
Somewhat embarrassingly, I just found out about manually maintaining *.pacnew files today when researching an unrelated issue. It made me wonder if that was my problem. Perhaps something is goofed in /etc which would explain a ton.
I'm in OS X right now but will reboot shortly and try to fix this issue.
The keyboard issue is troubling as well, though. Some have reported no logins, but often it's a PAM or login manager issue trying to go into X directly. I'm doing no such thing and literally can't get *anything* to work on my keyboard. That makes me wonder...
If I were to boot into the Arch CD and try to run pacman manually... what do I have to do other than
    # mount /dev/sda3 /mnt
    # chroot /mnt
I tried that yesterday but failed. I'm wondering if I have to mount some other items for that to work. /proc?

  • IPod Touch 3rd Gen: Battery Draining very rapidly after iOS4 upgrade.

    Hello All,
    Sorry for the long post:
I was wondering if others are experiencing this issue as well? I have a 3rd gen ipod touch 64gb.
Prior to the iOS4 upgrade my battery life was very decent. I would easily go a couple(2) days before requiring a full charge on the device even with modest internet, game and music use. As a rule I keep my back light as low as I can stand to conserve battery unless I'm in direct sunlight and have no choice but to bump it up in order to see.
After the iOS4 upgrade my battery life has been drasticly reduced. Going even 24 hours without plugging the device in is totally out of the question and in many cases I find myself having to plug the device into my laptop or car pretty much any chance I get in order to have uninterupted use of the device while I'm out and about. Although I've never timed my actual use, my usage habbits have not changed as far as I'm concerned.
I went so far as to exchanging the device at my local bestbuy as I purchased the blacktie protection plan which grants me an exchange of the device for "any" reason; be it manufaturer defect, accidental breakage, or anything really short of losing it. The replacement was a brand new non refurb ipod which I synced and charged fully upon bringing it home. To my suprise, the battery life is just as bad as the ipod I just turned in. I have yet to downgrade to iOS3 but am considering it if only to see if I suddenly see a great improvement of the battery life.
If anyone is having the issue or has some suggestions other then downgrading please comment. If this is an "unknown" bug/issue/flaw in iOS4 I'm sure apple would like to know about it and I'm assuming they monitor these forums for reports of these issues.
    Thanks!
    gutset

  • C5 still rebooting after firmware upgrade

I recently upgraded to 032.010, but turning on the radio makes the phone reboot just as it did prior to upgrading. I had a theory that only certain frequencies provoked this reaction, but now I've started experiencing it on frequencies which previously did not provoke a reboot. Anyone else having this problem? If you haven't used the radio yet but plan to, I suggest you try it ASAP, in case you experience the same issue as me and want to return your phone.

I forgot to mention that I've previously bought three C5's (from different shops, in case the problem was limited to one batch) and returned all of them because they all behaved this way. Bought the 4th (which has a different production code, so that can't be it either) when I saw there was a firmware upgrade available, hoping it would solve the problem, but it didn't. Now it even reboots on frequencies that did not provoke a reboot on the previous firmware, although I can't say for sure the upgrade is responsible. Anyway, this is definitely not a unit specific issue, it's the whole series that is faulty (or at least the Scandinavian model). Quite annoying, as I'm otherwise perfectly happy with the C5.
