Cam turns off when USB gets attached

Hello, I have a hand me down cam,Web cam GO. model NO. ct6860 part NO. 6860000
When its unpluged from the usb the lcd screen comes on, says HI, then i can
switch threw the options. As soon as i plug in the usb cord, It turns off. I installed the drivers from the (video blaster webcam Go- drivers and applications) and seems no problems with that. Just when i plug in USB.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Exact same problem. Brand new Macbook Pro 13 2015. After i plug in USB stick wifi stops working after 1 minute or so. I'm trying to setup bootcamp, which requires USB memory to install. It's so frustrating.
I've had Macbooks throughout the years, and they always seem to have wifi issues -- eventually get resolved by software update, but you wonder what's up with Apple QA.

  • FaceTime camera turns off when switching between spaces

I will have the Facetime app on, have a conversation with a person. I have Mail opened up full screen in another "space." When I switch to that space, the camera turns off. I have to go back to the "space" that FaceTime is in in order to turn the camera back on. Is there a way to keep the camera on all the time when switching between different spaces and the Dashboard?

Having the same problem - In Snow Leopard, when I was on a FaceTime chat with a friend, I was able to navigate away from the FaceTime and surf, check the calendar and other stuff without pausing my video feed. In LION, for whatever reason, FaceTime pauses itself whenever I navigate away from the app. It's as if the application is FORCING me to stay in the conversation when, sometimes, I use FaceTime for TALKING, not VIDEO CONFERENCING.

  • Why doesn't Wi-Fi turn OFF when USB Ethernet is connected?

When I get into the office, I connect my MacBook Air (2011/Lion) via USB Ethernet (we have Wi-Fi too).
When connected through USB Ethernet, my Wi-Fi stays connected as well.
Is it possible to have Wi-Fi turn off automatically when connected via USB Ethernet?

You can configure your Network System Preferences so that your Ethernet interface has preference over wifi.  It will not automatically turn off wifi, but it will use the Ethernet if it's plugged in.

  • I pod touch turns off, when it gets into stand by

    Hi community,
I got an ipod touch at christmas, and now i have a problem with it. Every time i try to put the touch into standby by pressing the hold button on the top, it turns off after a time. Ater that, there is only one way to start it. I have to hold the hold and home button at the same time for about ten seconds. I dont know what to do, should i go to the shop and change the touch or is there another way to fix this problem.

Is the battery fully draining and is that why it is turning off?
    Otherwise try the standard fixes:
    - Reset,. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
Then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Facetime camera turns off when changing app

Is this a problem with Facetime or just the way it works? In any case, it is really annoying. I have my Mail, Calendar and iTune application in Full Window mode. When I am on a Facetime call, and need to check an information in my emails or calendar, I switch application Command-Tab and when doing so, the iSight (Facetime camera) pauses. Skype doesn't do that. Why is it that Facetime can't handle it? I really want to use FT, but this thing just makes me go for Skype for any important business calls.

  • FaceTime camera turns off when going to full screen

    Hi guys,
both me and my girlfriend have the same issue with FaceTime and Mavericks on MBA 2012: when we start a conversation and switch to full screen, the image disappears. The sound remains, so we can keep talking, but no video. The camera indicator also shuts down.
We have to go back to a window view, then switch again to full screen - then "it just works".
There were no problems in ML before, it just started with Mavericks. My girlfriend has moved to Mavericks first and the problem appeared when she was toggling to fullscreen, I couldn't see her until she switched back to window view, then she could switch again to full screen. She could see me me all the time. When I updated to Mavericks, I got the same issue.
Does anybody have the same problem? Any suggestions how to resolve it?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi,
I see I made an error  in my first answer.
The Original post is categorised as iMessages and Messages as well as Using Mavericks and Wifi and Internet.
It then has a tag of FaceTime.
I filter my searches in the Mavericks Community by using the iMessages and Messages Category.
As an iMessages conversation can be used to invoke FaceTime for  Video Chat I can see that was what I was thinking about here.
However at the same Time Messages can do Video chats in AIM and Jabber accounts and has it's own windows for that.
I seem to remember an issue with one app not going Full Screen when the window was not "landscape" but more 4:3 or even square in looks.
I don't think that was FaceTime but as the app can display in either Portrait or Landscape it may pay yo switch to Landscape first.

  • TS1398 Wifi turns off when I get away from router

    Hi all,
I've had an Iphone for about 2 1/2 years now. Working real good until recently... it will only recognized a wi-fi connection when I'm close to any router. As soon as I walk away, back to 3G, and that happens everywhere there is a wi-fi.
    I need your help, please!

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPad. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPad on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPad does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPad is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

  • Is my iPad supposed to turn off when it gets bumped

When I bump or close my case to fast it shuts it down. I not sure if that's a sensor or if there is something wrong.

I also have a Targus case that doubles as a stand and what I think is happening is that when you hit a bump - the sleep button is being pressed by the corner piece that holds the iPad in place. That's just a guess but the way my iPad sits in this case, the sleep button Is covered by the one rubber black corner piece.

  • WiFi turning off when Ethernet connected, and not coming back on

Since about last Tuesday (possibly when I updated to Safari 7.0.6), whenever I connect my MacBook Air (2011) to ethernet, my WiFi turns off. When I disconnect the ethernet, the WiFi does not turn back on, which makes this an annoying problem. If I try to manually turn it on while Ethernet is still connected, it does the scanning animation a few times, and then turns back off. Without the ethernet, once WiFi is turned back on, it works just fine.  I'm using both the Apple USB to Ethernet adapter and a StarTech Thunderbolt hub with Gigabit ethernet, and this happens with both.  Everything is up to date, and the only change that coincided with this new behavior is Safari, but I don't remember if I updated it before of after the problem appeared, and I may not have noticed the problem for a few days as I don't often use my mac away from a wired connection.
Is this a known problem? Any known solution? When I search for it, all I find are people looking for ways to make the WiFi automatically toggle opposite the Ethernet, no one complaining that it's happening on its own.

Why are you turning cellular data off when you get home? If you have wifi at home, it will connect to the phone. Then, once you leave home and get out of range of the wifi, cellular data should connect automatically, you wouldn't need to turn it back on. Turning wifi off is really not necessary unless you are using it as a battery saving feature. I leave my wifi turned on all the time, as well as cellular data, and my battery lasts for quite a long time.

  • Macbook Pro camera turns off and back on.

When I am videochating with my friends or for any reason I have my camera on, most of the times the camera turns off (Green Light Off) and then back on. While the light turns off my video gets stuck and then when the camera turns back on the video continues to function normally but it bother me a lot because it is a new computer I just bought for christmas and whenever I am videochatting the camera turns off and back on. PLEASE HELP!

Thank you for your detailed troubleshooting attempts.  Very helpful.  Sorry, I cannot read "logs."  My eyes just glass over on those things.  Hopefully, a knowledgeable user will come along shortly to decipher for you.
I noticed from the pics that your location setting is "untitled."  Have you tried the "Automatic" setting?  Run the diagnostic test?  Results?
    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • IPhone camera turns off automatically!!!!!

    Hello,
I am having iPhone 4S, with IOS version 7.0.4.
I am facing problem with the camera with different cases:
    1. When iMesage is decativated in the settings and i open my camera.. camera turns off automatically and i get a pop showing activate iMessage.
    2. When i open camera and flip the camera icon to take self pic using front camera, it immediately goes off.
    3. When music is being played and i try to open camera and flip the camera icon to take self pic using front camera. Camera goes off turning off the music too.
These are the problems i am facing with the camera in my iPhone 4S.

    Standard troubleshooting steps:
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Macbook works fine when plugged in, turns off when unplugged.

    Hello all,
As stated my 2008 Unibody 13 inch, serial number W8******1AX turns on and works fine when it is connected to power.
When it is unplugged it instantly turns off and turns its fans on full until it depletes the battery (so it is obviously getting power.. just not where I want it)
Since the problem began I have tried two new batteries, neither of which had any different symptoms.
Before this, the computer had an intermittent life, it would turn off when it saw fit, which got progressively worse.
I have followed the guides to resetting the SMC but have had no luck
I have been running it without the battery (to save it charging and discharging for no reason) and sometimes when plugged in without a battery
the magsafe green indicator light goes from dim to bright.
With the battery installed it stays bright orange until it is charged and then switches to bright green.
(I have tried it with another charger, same symptoms)

There may be a hardware cause behind the symptoms you cite, so a diagnostic
is recommended to see which parts are weak or failed in the computer. A visit to
an Apple Store with Genius bar may be helpful, as they can perform testing there.
A call ahead or use their web page, to schedule an appointment, is advised.
In the US and Canada, the Genius bar at a retail Apple Store can perform
a diagnostic service, for no fee, even on Apple products without AppleCare.
    See links:
    Apple - Concierge
Genius Bar - Apple Retail Store:

List of Apple Stores, cities, countries:
    http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/
Also authorized Apple service providers who can test, repair and guarantee their
work should be able to handle an out-of-warranty older Mac, within age limits...
Ones too old for the Apple Store could be serviced at a Specialist, instead.

•The power adapter can be problematic and cause issues, so there's this:
    Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
Also another item, other than keeping the magnetic connections clean of
debris, grime, and corrosion, is to check the MagSafe Board or have it
checked as part of a greater diagnostic. This board is behind the port
that supplies the computer and the battery with power from the adapter.
When it partially fails or if/when one of the connecting wires or plug fails
you can find odd issues or partial use. The battery may charge but it
may not be able to power the computer, and other odd effects.
    https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook
In older portable Macs, this was generally called a 'DC-in board' and as
such, you could read about it in an iFixit repair guide for the MacBook
model you have. These vary so the matching article is recommended to
see if that is something you may want to try. But I would have diagnostic
testing done and avoid additional damages from attempted DIY efforts.
There have been a few reports of other failure on the logic board that
contributes to a partial failure of the charging system, so about all this
may do is troubleshoot around the failure without finding an exact cause.
    However it goes...
    Good luck & happy computing!
