    This is the error message I receive when I try to add my phone to my Mac for proximity / FaceTime audio calling.  This feature worked until I changed my Apple ID.  I have updated my Apple ID everywhere I can think of updating it.  I've signed out of Apple ID on my Mac, deleted EVERYTHING (calendars, contacts, etc.), signed back in, etc.  I've done the same with my phone, and even done a power-down / reboot and nada.  I keep getting this message from the Mac.
    I can't figure out where else I should look for my old Apple ID to be logged into anything or creating problems.  I've gone over my iPhone and Mac and I'm at a loss.  As an aside (and yes, wrong forum), have lost the ability to do SMS forwarding since the Mac no longer receives the code from my iPhone to allow this feature to work.  This was lost after signing out of the Apple ID on my Mac this afternoon.
    Bluetooth is turned on for both devices.  Both devices are on the same WiFi network.  Both devices otherwise appear to be working correctly with the exception of the problems I'm having with FaceTime and iCloud being signed into the same Apple ID (which they are).

    (By the way, I should have pointed out in my earlier posting that I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Mac). I Just installed latest Yosemite update while my iPhone was switched off, and when my Mac restarted, the 'iPhone Cellular Calls' checkbox in the FaceTime preferences was checked and the problem was therefore solved. Switched on my iPhone, still fine. Relief.

    On the iPad open Settings/iCloud and delete the account using the button at the bottom. Once deleted log in using the other account. For iTunes Stores use Settings/iTunes & Apps Stores, tapp on the Apple ID at the top then sign out. Once done sign in using the other account. Once you are happy with the changes plug your iPad into your computer to update the backup.

    Actually, everyone missed one point, when a device is priced, the cost of icloud storage space for that device is also included in it that is why they are able to give you 5gb each for each user ID, in nutshell there is nothing free coming with apple device purchase, it is paid for.  What they are trying by giving only 5gb per user ID irrespective of the number of devices used is pure broadlight looting, they take money from you when you buy each device and give you nothing, This is a case of goods and services bought but not fully deliverd ie apple can be suied for discreminatory treatment towards it's users. I wonder why no one tried this yet in America where everyone sue everyone for petty things..... there is no one to take up this issue? . if tim got any love for the guys who shell out money for the devices his company makes, he should be implimenting this as priority before someone wake up from sleep and sue him.

    I recently got an Iphone 5s.  I've had several iPODs. and had to disable one of my emails that my Apple ID was linked to. However, that Apple ID has not been used for several years. I didn't manage to find it. However, I'd like to have both my new and old Apple IDs on my iPhone 5S so I can get all my apps, books, music, and stuff on my phone, how is this possible.  Since the old email address that is linked to the old AppleID is disconnected?
    What steps do I take to link my old and new Apple IDs onto my iPhone without disconnecting the other.

    Sorry you can't merge the apple id Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
    You would need to redownload apps to your new apple id.

    settings - app/itune store - apple id - log out and log back in with your new id.
    NOTE:  apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
    If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
    If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
    Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
    Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
    Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
    Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
    Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
    Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
    Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

    You cannot download the same Apps that you have on your iPhone. They are two seperate stores.
    The store you have on your iPhone is the same for any iDevice (iPad, iPhone and iPod)
    The store on your MacBook is only for Macs.

    Unfortunately, i experienced some thing really unprofessional and different this time.
    It begun suddenly one day when i tried to charge my phone, the phone was on silent mode and as usual the phone vibrated when i kept it for charge.
    After a few seconds the phone vibrated twice or thrice again when i re-inserted the cable thinking it might be loose.
    It continued to charge well when i left the room for 2 hours and finally when i returned i could see a damaged i phone 5
    lying on the floor and the phone vibrating continuously and i figured out there was a fault with the cable and the
    current wasnt flowing continuously due to which the phone continued to vibrate and fell off the shelf.
    Next day i took the iphone to Apple service centre at Saket which was closed.
    Thinking its August 15 and so the store might be closed i went back to home and waited for the next day but unfortunately could not turn up since
    i had to go to work on odd timings.
    I again went to the same service centre on 17th August 2013 and saw the service centre closed again when i tried to contact
    the other service centre and was informed about Saket's service centre already been shut down.
    There was no hoarding/ banner any kind of intimation for the customers.
    Since 18th August was Sunday and i was occupied on 19th August i went to service centre at Ansal Plaza Khel Gaon Marg on
    20th August 2013 to complaint about the Faulty Cable and the damaged caused to my iphone 5 due to the same.
    I very well explained the same to one of the person at the receiving desk at the service centre who accepted the cable
    but explained me that he doesnt have the authority to accept my iphone without permission from the technical support people
    who will be able to help me in that case and gave me the toll free number.
    i Tried to reach the toll free number and finally managed to get online with a technical support executives who too all my details and
    summary of the problem i experienced and finally kept me on hold for almost 10 minutes ormore after which he said he said that my
    case cannot be considered and while the discussion was on, the call was disconnected and i was left frustrated as i still was at the service centre
    but finally i left with no hope from Apple .
    I tried to reach again at the toll free number, and finally managed to talk to a well behaved person who assured me of considering my case and suggested
    me to go back to the service centre and advice the the person at the recieving end there to get me connected to the technical support team when i reach so that i could
    submit my phone but, since, it was already around 4:30 and the service centre was about to shut and due to traffic
    conditions all around i thought of visiting the service centre next day.
    On 21st August 2013, i went back to the service centre and spoke to the one of the store person who adviced the case to the manager Mr. Alok ( as i remember )
    who was really rude to tell me that i will have to call the technical support team on my own and then he will connect and that its not his work and all that .
    I finally connected to one of the senior technical support executives Mr.Mohamed Azharuddin K who understood my concern and spoke to the manager of the store to accept
    my iphone.
    My iphone was finally collected and i was assured i would get a call back next day from the service centre about the update.
    It was now 22nd August 2013, no update was given,no call was received, i tried to call the service centre at 12:30, they were unaware about my case and knew only about the cable and said will call me
    back very shortly.
    I called back at 2:30, still no update, at 4:30 i called back again when i was told that my case cannot be considered and i can collect my phone.
    Similar discussion was held with Mr.Mohamed Azharuddin K.
    I knew by the time i will reach the service centre would again close.
    He told me that my case cannot be considered since the cable was recieved in the dead condition and wasnt working at all unlike what i told him about the cable.
    On 23th August 2013, i went back to the service centre and collected my phone. When i asked about my old cable and told them that it was working and i wanted the technician
    to check it properly when i handed it over, they had no answer but to say its already shipped. I spoke to the manager who said that he never told any body that the cable
    was received in dead condition and he only conveyed to other authorities that the cable had fault .
    I finally dont know what to do and came back with the new cable.
    I just visited my time, petrol and parking charges in getting the cable replaced.
    If i calculated i have spent around 16 hours and 2000 worth of money in just getting the cable replaced and have a broken phone in hand.
    More than a weeks torture.
    Is that the way apple compensates for its fault ????????????????
    I will make sure that i never buy any thing from Apple and advice all the people i know to not trust Apple blindly.

    Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you. 
    If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

  • The process to change apple ID's on iPhone 4s without effecting apps

    To give a bit of background on my situation, I bought my first iPhone (4s) a few months ago, and when I bought it the cell phone sales representive asked if I had an Apple ID. At the time I told him no, because I did not know exactly what it was so figured I did not have one. So he showed me where on my iPhone I could create and enter my Apple ID. When I got home I created one and have been using it on my iPhone ever since. A couple weeks after that I came to find out my iTunes account was also a Apple ID (when I signed up for iTunes years ago Apple ID did not exist). So I was not aware having a iTunes account automatically meant it was also my Apple ID. So now I have this dilemma where more original Apple ID has all my downloaded music on it, and my new Apple ID on my iPhone has all my apps on it! Ugh! So frustrating as I know you can not merge the 2 from reading the communities here. I also know from reading here that logging in with a different Apple ID on my iPhone will prevent me from updating apps. Luckily by time I realized I had 2 Apple ID's it was before I downloaded anything that cost money on my new one, so I am more than willing to forfeit it. So in the process of doing this I have a few questions to make it as easy as possible and to prevent any complications.
    1.) Since signing into my iPhone 4s with a different Apple ID will prevent updates on existing apps, I would like to know if deleting ALL my apps (which I am willing to do since all the ones I have downloaded were free so far), will I be able to redownload them on my new Apple ID on the same iPhone without any complications redownloading the apps back, and without any complications updating them?
    2.) Will changing my Apple ID on my iPhone effect anything else on my phone besides my apps? Keep in mind I have not downloaded any music on this Apple ID or on my iPhone yet. Will it effect my pictures or videos or contacts or my calender dates? Will it effect my iCloud account or is iCloud seperate from Apple ID or are they linked together?
    3.) Lastly if deleting my apps and changing my Apple ID and redownloading them will prevent complications with my apps, after doing all of that how can I get rid of the mistake new Apple ID I made that I will no longer be using? I would like to use the email address that is on my new (mistake) Apple ID on my original Apple ID. So is there a away to have the new mistake Apple ID deleted after I switch everything? If so, then how?
    I am off work next couple days and would like to get this resolved tomorrow or at least with in the next 2 days get everything switched over so I can finally sync my music onto it from my computer. I appreciate any responses and help.

    go to appleid.apple.com to reset your apple id password.
    Under where it reads manage id there are words that read 'reset password' click on this area to reset password.
    Once you have the password to your apple id you will be good to go .
