Cambridge Soundworks computer speakers

PS1600 4-point surround sound speakers + sub-woofer - Cambridge Soundworks
My computer speakers have given up the ghost. I am certain it is the switch as when you adjust it the sound sometimes comes and goes in a rather distorted way. I have taken it apart and checked the connections and cleaned it out but to no avail. Anyone know where I can get one of these switches as it seems to be a discontinued product, bought 5 years ago.

  • SB Live! 5.1 Digital card and Creative Cambridge Soundworks 200 Speak

I have a SB Li've! 5. Digital card and a set of Creative Cambridge Soundworks 200 Speakers. The speakers consist of 4 satelites and sub woofer. My audio has been working flawlessly for several years until this weekend when I decided to reformat my dri've and re-install Windows XP Pro. I downloaded the dell drivers (card is from dell) and installed them and then installed the updates for them from this web site. The problem I'm having (before and after applying the upfate) is that only two of the satelites emit sound! Furthermore when I run the creative diagnostic test app (all tests pass) and run the "Test Speakers", the rear left spkr is identified properly; and the right front spkr is identified as rear right and no speakers are identified as front.
My physical h/w configuration has not been touched during the re-install of windows.
Any suggestions for getting my audio system working properly again?
    Thanks,
    Phil

I just opened my system and looked at the card. It has the following identification on it:
    . SB Li've!
    2. Model SB0200
    3. Serial Number: MSB020032052655
So perhaps it is not an SB Li've 5. Digital as I previously thought; regardless I'm still having the same problems. When I downloaded and tried to install the SBLi've! drivers indicated from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=&sOSName=Windows+XP&regi on=&Product_Name=Li've%2&Product_ID=4857&model number=&driverlang=033&OS=0&drivertype=0&x=24&y=5
I received an error message that no soundblaster card could be found.
When I searched for drivers by model (sb0200), the website said said, "no such drivers".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Connecting Cambridge Soundworks speakers to a new Dell 4700

New system: Dell 4700. Soundcard is a Soundblaster Live! 24 bit. Stereo outputs are confirmed to work because my headphones pick up sound (in the headphone jack, as well as the stereo outputs). Creative audio software.
Old speakers: Cambridge Soundworks, 2 small cube speakers and a subwoofer with a dedicated power supply. About 3 years old. System worked like a charm (and still does) in my old computer.
My new computer sound outputs are just fine. My old speakers work fine. But the two together aren't working. I've been troubleshooting all evening. Dell tech support was also clueless. Anyone able to offer some advice from the audio side of things?
    Thanks!

    Bmsavage,
There are a couple things to check. First off make sure any headphones in the front of the computer are unplugged (this can disable the rear outputs).
    Now try connecting like this:
    1) Connect the speaker side of your volume control to the line in on the subwoofer.
    2) Connect the source side of your volume control to the Green Jack on the Live! 24bit
    3) Insure that the volume on the control is turned up and the speakers are powered up and test sound

  • 5.1 with X-Fi and older Cambridge Soundworks speake

I have an older Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Theater 5. DTT2500 Digital speaker system, and I just bought a SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer card for my Vista (32bit) computer.
The speaker system has four inputs:
    Line In
    Rear In
    Dolby Digital (AC-3) S/PDIF
    Digital DIN
I currently can only get 4. sound by using the two analog connections (Line and Rear). I used to have an Audigy NS, which was able to connect directly to the S/PDIF plug on my speaker system to provide 5. surround.
How can I connect my X-Fi's Digital Out flexijack to my speaker system's digital inputs so I can get full 5. surround?
    Thanks for your time!

I own those speakers and as someone else pointed out they're not true 5. speakers, they are only true for movies, not for games, even with the adapter, the center channel will not pick it up. I opted for another manufacturer speakers. When that came out, it was top of the line, high tech etc. But only really for movies, I have it hooked up to my DVD player now and that's all it's good for. And when I had it hooked up to my computer all I was ever able to get out of it was 4. with the spdf adapter and connection.

  • Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 and Audigy2 NX

    Hello everybody!!!!
This is my first post and I would thank if someone could help me. I don't know what is the best way to connect in my laptop in order to enjoy the best sound with dvds and mp3s. The first item (dvds) is ok because I have a RCA cable connection from my Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 to my Audigy2 NX and I enjoy the DolbyDigital sound this way but with this connection I hear the mp3s in my laptop in a 2 way-speakers, what can I do to hear my mp3s in 5.1 (if there is a better connection among my devices, please let me know)? Thank you very much!

  • 5.1 sound won't work with computer speakers, not sure

Hi, I am having problems getting 5. surround sound to work with my SB Li've! 5. card and Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500 Dolby Digital system. The speaker system works fine, I've tested it with my DVD player through an optical cable hookup. The Dolby Digital light is supposed to light up when its receiving a Dolby Digital 5. signal, and when connected straight to the DVD player via optical cable, it does light up.
But, when connected to my Li've! 5. card, it does not light up. I am using CyberLink PowerDVD which supports 5. sound, and I'm using the Digital DIN port in the back of the speaker system. The cable goes from the orange digital out port on the SB Li've! 5. card to the Digital DIN port on the Cambridge speaker system. The hook up should allow transmission of 5. signal, so maybe something is wrong software side. I might be missing a setting or something, on the player maybe or elsewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have been in the computer repair business for over years and work on main frame computers for the government and there are companies that back their products and there are companies that do not. Creative, in my opinion, is not a company that likes to back their hardware or software drivers. I remember in the old Sound Blaster 6 days of DOS and conflicting IRACs and not getting any help with their auto answer service. In my opinion, one of the reasons they have all this software driver issues, is they more than likely use another source to write the software and therefore the software writers do not talk to the hardware developers. Believe me this is very common as I see it all the time with the government contracted computer companies and their special software. What a mess. If? software developers do not talk to their hardware people on known issues then we get the results. Part of the problem is us consumers and our willingness to except anything when it comes to computers. I read of people staying up all night trying to resolve one little issue and will still except a degraded product. Do not think for a second these companies do not know this and use this backwards stupidity to their advantage. I would never give any computer product that much of my time because my time is money as well.
Anyway, why do we all buy Creative? The answer is very simple. If you have ever herd the newest X-Fi sound cards with its 24 bit crystallizer on a motherboard it likes, well there is nothing like it. I have mine (I own this sound card as well) hooked up to a high end stereo and if my wife would let me I could blow out my windows in my study. That is when it is working and not squealing. The problem of course is we must get this wonderful sounding card on a computer it likes to work without squeaking or squawking. Lets face it, Creative is the only game in town when it comes to sound and I love great sound. shellback

  • Dolby Digital AC-3 missing: Realtek ALC892 / Creative Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater 5.1

    Hi there,
recently I purchased a new mainboard (ASUS Sabertooth X58, http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...th_X58.pdfwith an internal soundchip ALC892 from Realtek. This mainbard has an internal S/PDIF-Connector which I connected to a coax cable for fitting the Dolby Digital AC-3 S/PDIF input of the Creative Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater 5.1 (model CSW3000, 998, http://download.cambridgesoundworks....nuals/DTT5.pdf
As the SoundWorks has an internal Dolby decoder working it seems to be somewhat difficult to get the noise going. Simply connecting the cable does not work, neither tuning the Realtek sound driver. It seems that the Realtek driver is missing an option to stream directly to the DTT5.1.
Is there any possibility to get the combination working?
    Best regards, Ingo Wolfmller

I installed my old Audigy 2 and connected the Speakers. The digital output of that soundcard works. So the speakers are alright. But the AC-3 stream e.g. coming from an DVD delivers a steady crunching/crashing sound. Maybe a configuration problem although I fixed the output to Dolby Digital an 48 kHz.
The internal Realtek still delivers nothing.

  • Cambridge Soundworks system help

i have what i believe to be a "Soundworks Digital 4.1" system. I am not sure, but assume that this is the correct designation, and it looks just like the "Soundworks Digital 2.1", for which i can find documentation on the Cambridge Soundworks website. I understand from those folks that they produced it for Creative to market and sell (and, apparently, support). I have had it for some time and it has served me well. It uses a cable with DIN-style connectors for digital input, and i use an adaptor that is DIN on one end and mini stereo phone jack on the other, which i plug into the digital output on my audigy 2 card, and the speakers are fully functional. unfortunately my audigy card is failing, and i would like, at least in the short term, to use my onboard audio (soundmax hd, on an asus mobo) as an alternative. the digital output there is an rca style (orange color coded) on the backplane, and i would like to know how, if possible, can i adapt this either to the mini stereo phone plug, or better, direct to the DIN cable, and achieve surround sound, 4 channel control etc?
i cant find a way to put this question directly to tech support, because the web based input screen insists? i select a product, and this one just doesn't show up. hopefully i can continue to use this excellent sounding system going forward. thanks to all.

That is something you'd normally set on the soundcard or onboard audio, so you'd probably have to check Realaudio's settings or support for advice on how to get 5. working from it.

  • Help with Cambridge SoundWorks!!! PLEASE!

Hey, guys, I need some help with configuring my 5.1 Soundworks Speaker System... I can't hear anything out of my rear and center speakers...CMSS is out of the question, as my Creative Audigy(LS?) is plugged in, but the Original CD installer says it's not... I have installed some kind of drivers(the original ones from the cd), but, still, my sound card is "invisible" to the Creative Installer...Please help,
    Best regards...

Yes, my Audigy is plugged in correctly... I had these stereo speakers and they worked fine, but the problem was the same! My drivers won't install via the "Installer"... I have the original CD and all that crap, and still nothing! I only placed the Soundcard where it should be, but I don't know if I need any more wires...My speakers are plugged in like in Creative's Surround Demo etc... I'm now using Win2000[No Service Pack](i used, and I think I will revert to, Windows XP[SP])...What I want to know is: Can I use anything other than CMSS? Is there anything that could make an Audigy LS and a Cambridge Soundworks DTT2200 get along fine? Oh, and I have an Abit motherboard... The model is not important, as my speakers, soundcard, motherboard and a hell lot more come from a guy who sold them...And they worked fine on his PC! The biggest problem is with the drivers... I use the first PCI slot for the soundcard and it kinda works.....Please help if you have any idea...

  • Cambridge Soundworks or Creati

Just a thought, do you prefer speakers based on Cambridge Soundworks or Creative designed?
From what i hear, the Megaworks and the S750 are Cambridge and the Gigaworks G500 is one hundred percent Creative.

Well, actually it's none of those...
The subwoofer looks different, like this: http://www.terrabits.org/Files/P930000.JPG
The speaker look like the FPS1000 ones, like this: http://www.terrabits.org/Files/P9300002.JPG
But most importantly, the volumecontrol, and especially the conector that goes into the subwoofer, look like this:

    Hope that helps.

how do I set up my Imac to allow using both my computer speakers and a Bose SoundLink system as outputs at the same time.  I can use one or the other, but not both.  From systems Preferences I must select one or the other.  I want both to work all the time.

    Hi,
I would recommend you to use 0FI_AP_4 rather using both, particularly for many reasons -
    1. DS: 0FI_AP_4  replaces DataSource 0FI_AP_3 and still uses the same extraction structure. For more details refer to the OSS note 410797.
    2. You can run the 0FI_AP_4 independent of any other FI datasources like 0FI_AR_4 and 0FI_GL_4 or even 0FI_GL_14. For more details refer to the OSS note: 551044.
    3. Map the 0FI_AP_4 to DSO: 0FIAP_O03 (or create a Z one as per your requirement).
    4. Load the same to a InfoCube (0FIAP_C03).
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • How do I use GarageBand as a amp/speaker to listen to my Electronic Drum set? I have a MIDI-USB cord already but I can't figure out how to listen to my set through the software using my computer speakers?

How do I use GarageBand as a amp/speaker to listen to my Electronic Drum set? I have a MIDI-USB cord already but I can't figure out how to listen to my set through the software using my computer speakers?

If you want to listen to the sounds of your drum set, you should use an audio cable and connect it to the computer's line-in, then create a real instrument track.
If you use a Midi/USB interface, you'll have to create a software instrument track and select one of GB's drumsets as the instrument. Hopefully your drumset's midi notes are mapped to the right sounds in GB.

  • How do I listen to the songs on my iPod through  computer speakers?

    Ok. I give up.
I don't understand how this iPod Shuffle works.
I got it a few months ago, and copied three or four Brian Eno albums onto it (46 songs to be exact).
I can listen to the songs on the iPod when I am using it with the earphones, but when I plug it into the computer, it says something about "some of the items in the library were not copied to the iPod because they could not be found." (Meaning none of the songs were copied.)
I don't understand what it's trying to do.
The songs were already on the iPod. Why is it trying to "copy" them on to it?
And if I unplug the iPod from the computer and play it through the headphones, the songs are still there.
    Could somebody please help me?
I just want to be able to listen to the songs that are on my iPod through my computer speakers. How on earth do I do that?!!

I have the syncing option unchecked, that is why I do not understand why it is trying to sync.
I am also trying to play songs off my iPod via iTunes.
I also don't understand why I need to have the same songs on my PC if they are on the Shuffle. My songs are on my external hard drive... which I don't always have turned on, or with me for that matter. I certainly don't want to be hauling a hard drive around with me wherever I travel to. I want to be able to copy a small number of my favourite songs onto the Shuffle so I can carry the Shuffle and the laptop around with me and listen to them.
    I need to be portable!!!
