Camcorder not communicating with FCP

importing into fcp has never been a problem for me, but last week something must have happened, all of my cameras do not respond.( I have 3 canon XL2 but I usually use my cheap ones to do the importing canon ZR500 and canon ZR100) it always worked, It says VTR OK but I can no longer preview and when I Click now it waits a few sec and then it says can not import for there is no footage.
can anyone show me the light at the end of this tunnel? I have a ton of work that needs to be done.

Should you install universal? Maybe, but first, I'd suggest resolving the issue on the platform you have now. It sounds like you're in the middle of a big project, so going universal may not be wise, unless you are at the very start of the project. Best advice is to achieve a stable platform and upgrade after big projects.

If you get the 'VTR OK' prompt, can you see timecode in the capture window?
Have you tried cleaning your heads?
You are currently on OS 10.4.9/FCP 5.0.4/QT7.1.6, yes?
Was this the configuration when this behavior began, or was it different and you just re-installed the FCP5.0.4?
Are you capturing to a drive other than your system drive?
Are you using the NTSC FireWire Basic capture setting? (works best with Canon cameras)
Do the XL2's not work either?
Does your system profile recognize the cameras?
Have you confirmed that your cameras are set to properly send the FW signal?
Have you tried a different FW cable?
Trashed preferences?
Read through this thread to see how some of those questions may apply to your situation.

My MacBook is not communicating with my desk top to enable printing from my MacBook. I need to find out how to make that happen. I have a static IP address on my desktop but don't know what to do on the Mac Book.

My MacBook is not connecting to the host computer for the printer. The host computer has a static IP address which is different from the IP address that the laptop is looking for. How do I change the laptop so that it looks for the host computer's correct IP? The laptop is connected to the router. I know this because I can get on the internet with the laptop.

The host computer is Dell and the operating system is Windows 7. The printer is an Epson, and it is wired to the host computer with a USB cable. It does have host printing turned on.
The three have been working harmoniously for a long time. The router had to be reset; and after that, the MacBook documents would no longer print.
We created a new static IP address on the Dell but the MacBook is not recognizing it. We have researched the internet trying to figure out how to make the MacBook locate and recognize the correct IP address from the Dell so they can communicate with each other. The laptop is not communicating with the host computer because is is looking for the wrong IP. The host IP is 192.168.1.245 and the laptop is looking for 192.168.15.237.
I hope everything is clear. The person who originally set it up is no longer available to help me. Thank you for any help you may give me.

LiveType not intalled with FCP

For some reason LiveType was not installed with FCP. (My own fault im sure)
Can someone help me install it from the disk? Im using FCP 7, which has like 6 or more disks). Which disk is it on?

FCP (final cut pro) comes as a part of the FCS (final cut suite)
FCS 1 had LT
FCS 2 had LT
FCS 3 has no LT
If you own a copy of FCS2 then you can use the disk(s) in that set and using a custom install, you can add LT to your FCS3

Help DSCC agent not communicating with AppServer or Tomcat?!

Installing Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.3 From Zip Distribution on system running Solaris10 11/08.
Cannot get DSCC to work with either AppServer or Tomcat.
Both AppServer & Tomcat deploy DSEE WAR file and I can look at things that I have manually registered via command line. Cacao agent is running it is just not communicating with AppServer or Tomcat so it cannot commit any actions such as starting and stopping directory instances or creating new directories instances within the web app.
Is this a bug that occurs only when doing a new install using the Zip Distribution?
The Error message I get regardless if Appserver or Tomcat is:
"Could not contact the DSCC agent on <server>. Use the command cacaoadm to check that the DSCC agent is installed and running on port 11169."
I changed to port 11169 because it had a conflict on default port 11162.

I started over and installed Glassfish and everything just worked. After the fact I think the real problem was related to the server.policy file. I think this was the problem because using the default appserver 8.2 that comes with Solaris has a different path and I got this same error when tried using tomcat also. When installing glassfish it uses this default path as in the server.policy example as follows so it just worked.
Add the following lines in the {install-dir}/domains/domain1/config/server.policy file

grant codeBase "file:${com.sun.aas.instanceRoot}/applications/j2ee-modules/DSCC/-"
permission java.security.AllPermission;

SAP BI Client tools are not communicating with BO server

Hi Experts,
We've recently installed BI 4.1 . We're having few issues:
1. When client is installed on different machine then it is not communicating with server. We've already tried few things like untick auto assign from Request server and manually assign static port but it didn't work .
2. Our BO Server is running on AWS Cloud.
3. Client is communicating when installed on server machine.
4. Could you please help our how to resolve this error.
5. CMC and BI launch pad are installed on server side as they're web browser tool and we need to install these on client machine as well. Qns is Do we need to install them or provide just URL link? If just URL like where to get these URL links.
6. We can't see SAP Lumira and SAP Dashboard on Service market place to install. Where we can find these software on Service maket place?
7. Could someone please send screenshot to install Dashboard, Lumira, Analysis office and Crystal report enterprise and crystal report 2013.
8. Do we need to install all these on client machine?
9. Could you please give me software list which should be installed on client machine?
10. As i know there is life cycle management tool but it is not even available from server side not even on client side. Could you please recommend how it can be installed??

Could you confirm that you are able to ping the BO server from Client machine. Also use telnet command from commandline of CMD in client machine. It will help to confirm that port communication is successful. Use ipaddress:cmsport for the system while logging into the client software. Update the hosts file entries at client machine with BO server name and ip address. Create an exception for BO installation location at client machine and check the results

Check on the server side first where your web server is installed (I am assuming tomcat in your scenario). Use http://serverame:8080/BOE/BI and http://servername:8080/BOE/CMC (8080 is default port. If it has been changed use the correct port).
If its working well. Perform the same activity using ipaddress:8080 at server. Next chek whether using the same URL you are able to get BILaunchPad and CMC pages and able to login from the same.

In BI4.1 LCM comes by default. It is a server application. You can find it in CMC named as Promotion management and version management.
Use the admin guide and installation guide for all of the above. It will help you.

Computer not communicating with printer(s) scanner

I recently hooked up an Officejet J6480 wireless printer. I also have a J5780 hooked up via USB. After hours, and I mean hours, of being on-line with Tech Support through Chat and uninstalling and reinstalling, several times, and trying numerous things, neither printer has communication with the computer for scanning. The J6480 will scan if you go through Paint so it is functioning. The J5780 I haven't tested. I have downloaded drivers and every other thing that was suggested and the computer is not communicating with the printer for scanning. I have a Dell computer Inspiron 530S and am running Windows Vista (32) May I also say, that I disable the Firewall & Virus programs when downloading, etc. so it doesn't interfer. I have tried everything but dynamite to get the scanner to respond. I've downloaded the Patch suggested in the drivers listings and everything. Im beside myself because the J5780 scanned fine until I installed the J6480. Now the window on the printer says there are no scan settings available in the window on the printer. Chat Techs, I think, are beside themselves too. I uninstalled the J5780, installed the J6480 and then went into 'Add a Printer'. Everything went fine except the scanner. I get a message from Solution Center saying there is no communication between the computer and the scanner. I think something is missing here. If anyone knows a solution I would be more than grateful. HELP!!!!

Did you do an L3 uninstall of all HP software and start from scratch? The L3 uninstaller should be on the install CD's for each printer. You may have to do a search of the CD to find it.
Tell me what router, ISP and encryption type you are using? Also, what kind of security software are you using?
Have you done a WIndows Update and updated your security system? Do that between the L3 uninstall and the re-install.
There is a lot going on here. I'll hang in there with you...

I can't sync my IOS devices with my last version of the address book! I updated my address book in my Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8 and then it is not communicating with iTunes. I tried the 28 step troubleshooting to this issue, my iTunes cache is clean but still not syncronizing... Tried to use iCloud online to upload the vcf cards but in each group it losts a lot of contacts (and I don't know why, because they are far away from the iCloud limits...).

I had this.
On checking the iPhone the iPhone Number was not ticked and the whole option to change it was greyed out.
I removed the Apple ID and waited to see if th Number got ticked (Settings > Messages > Send and Receive).
It did not.
I put the iPhone in Airplane Mode
After a few minutes I "restarted" the iPhone by turning off Airplane Mode
This time the Number was ticked.
I Added the Apple ID and then restarted Messages on the Mac.
I soon got the pop message about the iPhone using it's Number and the Apple ID and Accepted.

IMovie not communicating with camcorder

i have a panasonic pv-gs14 and i got imovie 6. I used a firewire cable and made sure it was securely in. I tried turning the camera on and off (same in imovie), etc., etc.

hey there,
unfortunately for you, about the only computer & software combo that will work directly w/ this proprietary Sony camera/video format is Sony, or maybe something like Ulead Movie Factory on a Windows box. iMovie is awsome for what it costs, what it does & for some of the 3rd party plugins that are available from GeeThree, Stupendous & others.... but it does require video be in a format recognised by Quicktime. most easily this means MiniDV or HDV. i'm not even sure FCP Studio will help your situation as it too requires/prefers video that is recognised by Quicktime.
i just finished a project using free dl clips, they were .avi but were recognised by QT so they went right in to an iMovie, got treated to some 3rd party fx, then i put that litte movie into an FCE project & sent it to iDVD-- was a test on my new MacBook.
you'll also need a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire/iLink cable. MiniDV cams are pretty inexpensive these days, also you might try using an analog to digital converter. if the Sony IP cam has AV outs you can run audio & video into the converter then thru the Firewire into the Mac. Canopus makes a couple of moderately priced models.

Canon Vixia HV40 "NO COMMUNICATION" with FCP

I just bought the Canon Vixia HV 40. FCP will not recognize it. Previously I had the Canon ZR500 and I had no problems with FCP.
I have an aluminum iMac. Software 10.5.8. 4G of memory. Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
I have FCP Studio 2.
I'm connecting via Firewire. Any ideas what the problem is?

The best thing to do is shut down your computer then
1: turn on your camcorder (make sure it's in play mode)
2: turn on your scratch discs
3: start your computer
4: start final cut

Sony DSR-25 not found with FCP 5.1.2

I updated to FCP 5.1.2 to fix a dublicate bug with a Sony XDCam HD in 5.1.1 (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3269745#3269745)
This Problem was solved, but now i can't connect my Sony DSR-25 with Firewire to Mac. I have only one Firewire Onboard Slot and in 5.1.1 the DSR-25 worked fine. FCP doesn't finde the Deck
So did anyone have an intention or an idea what the problem could be with 5.1.2 ? Or did anyone has used a DSR-25 with FCP 5.1.2 already?

This is a good workaround for curing your camera recognition problem with FCP (if that's what it is):
First, check that your Easy Setup / Timeline / Camera or Deck Settings are all exactly the same, then making sure your camera or deck is in VTR mode, try to capture again.
FCP uses a different form of QT than iMovie for capturing, so if the camera works in iMovie (or if it's listed in System Profiler) but not FCP, it obviously means your Mac can see the VTR but FCP can't, so you need to do this QuickTime fix.

Follow the instructions carefully and you should have things running in no time - it's quite safe but you must Trash the Receipts AND re-install QT from the link provided.
If the Camera / Deck isn't recognised by iMovie or System Profiler, try resetting the Firewire Bus . . . Turn off the Mac and disconnect the power and all Firewire cables. Leave it for 30 mins then connect back up.
Still not working? Try a different Firewire cable.
Failing all this, try resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit). The method varies from machine to machine, so visit the Apple site and search for it in support.
Don't use iMovie for capturing - it doesn't give you a timecode and that's very important.

Ipod all of a sudden not communicating with Bose sound system

I am having trouble with my ipod communicating with my Bose music system. First off please let me mention that I have tried all troubleshooting procedures for both the ipod and the Bose system and nothing has help. I do believe that it is a malfunction with my ipod as my spouse has an iphone and it works like a charm while connected to the Bose system. Up until about two weeks ago I was able to enjoy my music without earphones or the ipod hooked to me, now I'm back to hooking the ipod and earphones up. About two weeks ago while my ipod was connected to the Bose system it started changing songs half way through and if I tried to control it by remote, buttons on the dock or the ipod controls it would just freeze up and no sound would come out. I am unable to forward to another song, change volume or even turn it on and off while docked in the Bose system. This problem just started before that I had no trouble with this. I have the latest update for my ipod so I shouldn't be having this trouble. I have turned it on and off and the same for the Bose system and have followed all the troubleshoothing tips and nothing has been resolved. As I said before my spouse's iphone works excellent on the dock this only happens with my ipod. With that said I am still able to listen to the music with the earphones with no problems.
Another problem I have noticed is that not all my songs that are downloaded to my ipod are visiable for me to select. Certain songs I have to search for as I cannot select them from title, artist, album, etc..
Please help me as it would be nice to enjoy my music without the ipod and earphone connected to me.

Try Resetting the iPod
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

If the above doesn't work, it could be the earphone jack has been shorted, or clogged up and putting the Dock also in mute. This maybe repaired by 3rd Party iPod service.
