largest magnetic-tape video machines I remember were Ampex 2" (editing with scissors!) ..
first consumer video I remember was a Sony open-reel, using half-inch ..
but 35mm ? ?
or, do you mean size of cassette.. ?
no.. too small ...
maybe you can share a name/type/model .. ? thank you! ..

  • Capturing with old Excel formatted Premiere 6.5 logs

How can I make use of my old Premiere 6.5 logs to capture footage into a scene library I am building in CS6?  I used to be able to import text delimited files from my Excel stored logs and then capturing would be simple.  I'm trying to capture my 50 DV tape contents into a library.  If Premiere Pro CS6 won't do it is their some facility in Prelude or Bridge?

Not sure of all of the possible settings for Audio in Pr 6.5, but this ARTICLE will give you some general tips.
I'd also strongly recommend getting the very latest audio card/chip driver. Even a simple OS update/hot-fix can kill an audio driver. Do not be lulled into a false sense of security, because other programs with audio play fine. Premiere interfaces more closely with your audio driver, than most other programs.
Also, John T. does mean "Windows," and just uses a common reference to it, "Windoze," which is more often seen on the Mac fora.
One test for Pr would be to Import a known good WAV file, maybe one from the Windows System Sounds, and see how that plays. I'd not test with MP3's or similar, and do this only with a known good WAV file.
    Good luck,

  • My old computer (a Sony) with my iTunes crashed. I have a new MAC and want to make sure I can keep all of my music (mostly from old CD's that have been lost). I bought iTunes match hoping that would work but it isn't using the data on my phone. HELP!

Since you have purchased a new Mac (which, BTW, is not typed in all capitals) why not buy a Time Capsule <http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/> which is designed specifically to work with OS X and Time Machine?
You don't say what part of your Sony "crashed." If it was not the HDD it is possible to take the computer apart, put the HDD in an external case, then recover the data off of it (including the music) simply drag-n-drop. If it was the HDD that "crashed" that makes it more difficult.
If you are able to recover the music from the Sony you can then add it to the iTunes library on the Mac and iTunes Match will then scan, match and upload the tracks to be mirrored in the cloud.

It may be possible to recover deleted pictures or data by using the Memory Card File Rescue 3D software at http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?template=EN&mdl=&upd_id=7184&SMB=YES.
Otherwise, the SD card may need to be sent to a professional data recovery service company, like Sony Media Services or DriveSavers Data Recovery. For more information and pricing, visit the Sony Media Services Web site at http://www.sonymediaservices.com/ or the DriveSavers Data Recovery Web site at http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com.

  • 25 Sony 8mm old Home videos importing as ntsc best import/export settings

I have 25 Sony 8mm old Home videos some over 20 years old importing as ntsc with a brand new mac-book pro and FCE 4.0. What is the best import and export settings to save for the future. Quality is important and time and space is not that important but I don't want to get silly considering the quality I am importing.
    Thanks for your time.

*((((You will need to convert the analog video to QuickTime using Apple DV-DVCPRO NTSC codec. The normal way to do this is with an analog-digital converter such as the Canopus ADVC-110 or ADVC-300 (not the ADVC-mini). However, if you have a miniDV camcorder that supports analog-digital passthrough then you could use the camcorder as the converter device.)))))*
I was lucky and found a sony camera that I hooked a four pin firewire to a 9 pin (800) to my mac.
*(((Keep in mind that DV video requires about 13GB per hour. If your 8mm tapes are all 120 mins (2 hours) long, you will need about 650GB to store all the captured video. Sounds like a 1TB drive to me. BTW - Firewire, not USB.)))*
    I was thinking 2TB
*(((You need to capture the video in FCE. The proper easy setup is the DV NTSC DV Converter easy setup. Editing will then be done in a DV NTSC sequence.*
*How you export from FCE depends on what you want to do with the finished video. If you just want to burn DVDs, then export to QuickTime Movie. If you want to save the video at its 'full resolution' then also export as a QuickTime Movie. If you want to post to the web, or do certain other things with the finished video, you would export to QuickTime Conversion.))))*
I just want to store it on 2 hard drives one connected to a pogo plug so my family can see them and store the second at my brothers house as the back-up. What would be the best format for that?
Now you know my hardware so should I import the whole 2 hours or batches of like 1/2 hour segments.
Again thanks for your help this is saving me many trials and errors.

  • I have music from old cassettes in Itunes - Track  problem

My problem is, I have music from old cassettes that I transferred to computer.  Put into Itunes without track#s, but say the name of album song 1, album song 2, etc.   In the SONGS list it shows all songs in ORDER.  then when I click the same in ALBUM setting it shows the music - songs in jumbled order.  is there a way to correct this other than going to GET INFO and hand typing a Track # in for EACH and EVERY song??????  I have tons of music transferred ARRRGGGHHH!!!!   so basically if I go to SONGS list I'm OK, but if I have album covers up on Ipod, then hit it will play songs in wrong order.

Yes, same thing. But they need to be compatible with apple tv, just because they play in iTunes doesn't mean they will work on ATV. See below
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

To what format file are you saving from Audacity?  Although technically AIFF format can save data tags within the file itself I have not found this to always work with all applications.  Likely the information you enter into Audacity is just being saved in the file name.  When you add this file to iTunes, if iTunes cannot find tags it recognizes it will simply add the track with the file name as the track name.  You need to add the tracks to iTunes, then enter the information using File > Get Info for a track or series of tracks,
Some of the above information may vary slightly depending upon the file format being used.
It helps when asking questions here to provide as much information at the onset as possible.  We didn't know until this stage that all these menus were in fact part of Audacity and not iTunes.

  • SONY MD VIEW CASSETTE. MDDATA2 disk

Have SONY MD VIEW CASSETTE. MDDATA2 disk that Im looking to have transfered or find model of camera's or recorders that will take these disk so I can transfer
    Thanks for you help
    Henry

Hi. What you need is a Sony DCM-M1 camcorder, the only device that can read those discs. I own this unit, and I would be happy to copy the contents of your discs to dvd's or cloud for you. Note that I am French, and that you would have to ship your discs to my home in France. I would do it at no cost, except that I would keep (and recycle) the original discs, once confirmed that you are happy with the dvd's or computer files. What do you think?

  • Pages 5.2 documents unsuccessfully try to open with old version 4.3

I understand that I have two version of pages, new (5.2) and old (4.3), with separate icons in my Applications folder.
The way it has been working is this:
    • If I opened an document created with Pages 4, it prompted me to automatically update with Pages 5.
    • Documents created with the new Pages 5 could be opened, as expected, by just double clicking. The document would pop open with Pages 5.
Now, for some reason this is happening:
    • When I try to open a document created with Pages 5 by double clicking I get the message: "You need a newer version of Pages." If I right click the document I can select "open with." The window show "Pages (default) (5.2)" at the top and Pages (4.3) right below. I select "Pages (default) (5.2)" and the document opens.  It seems that my comuter is using the old version of Pages as the default, even though, according to the "open with" window, Pages 5.2 is the default.
    • When I open a document created with the old version, it opens using the old version and no longer prompts me to update it to the new version.
Is anyone else having this problem?  Any suggestions.

Try this. Select (but don't open) a document created with the new Pages. Press Command-I. Under "Open with", select Pages 5.2. Click on "Change All".
An alternative to try is to move the old Pages app to another folder. Do not delete the old Pages - you may need it later!
Be aware that once a document is converted to the new Pages format it will not open with the old Pages (unless you specifically export it in old Pages format). I mention this because the new Pages lacks features found in the old version and this might be a problem for you.

I bought a MacBook Air and wish to communicate with old iMac G5 2003-5 (sorry can't remember the year). The screen on the iMac is blank and will not come on but the hard drive still works. Can anyone tell me the cable I need to with the iMac & how to do it. I have music and photos on the iMac I cannot access.
Also, do I need to special CD/DVD external drive/burner to import music CD's into iTunes? I have tried and it keeps coming up with formatting problems.
    Many thanks. Jax

  • Is the Panasonic HDC SD 90 camcorder compatible with Final Cut Pro X

Is the Panasonic HDC SD camcorder compatible with FCP X?

Seems to me that the software on an apple system has not caught up to where it could be for this camera, unless i'm mistaken.
Nor Adobe, nor Avid. Nor any makers of DVD players, BluRay, HD DVD. Nor broadcasters who air shows. Nor web formats.
60p isn't a format that is mastered either. Not to tape, not broadcast over the air, not a format you encode to BluRay or regualr DVD...not a web format. So why you'd shoot a format that you can't even deliver...seems pointless. 1080 is either 23.98fps, or 29.97fps. It is 720p that is 59.94fps...but that is used rarely. But that is the only 60 frame format that has output and airable options.

  • Netsh export error "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format"

Got an error("An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format") when trying to export from DHCP running in Enterprise Server 2008 R2.
Here is the command line: netsh dhcp server export c:\dhcp.txt all
This server had been migrated years ago(Server 2003 to Server 2008) and old DHCP server was decommissioned already. I know this error has a fix for Windows Server 2003 using hotfix from Microsoft but I was not able to find any hotfix from Windows Server
2008. Need your help guys as I'm seeing "X" on leases from DHCP and I need to resolve it! :(

    Hi,
As a workaround, we may try to use netsh DHCP server dump >c:\DHCPdump.txt.

  • First FullHD consumer Harddrive camcorder works with iM...

the German Video-Magazin "videoaktiv" claims on its website, http://www.videoaktiv.de/content/view/871/2/, that the new JVC GZ-HD7, a full HiDef = 1920 x 1080i harddrive camcorder, uses a "MPEG-2-TS" codec, no advhd as Sony...
    furthermore, videoaktiv writes, quote:
.. : JVC partnered with Apple, iM and FCP will work with that codec, due to a plug-in ...
the camera (price >1700, <2000€) offers superb pic quality, allthough the 3 CCDs have only 1/5" size ...
... harddrive camcorder works with iMovie... thru a plug-in..
............. interesting.. for some of us...
    and, dear admins: no rumor..

.. Planning to buy that one ?..
I'm happy to pay my flat's rent..
no, still my goo' ol ' Sony TRV14 in use..
hiDef TV is still far, far away future in my household ...
FullHD means a new, FullHD TFT-TV, probably a better/expensive cable suplier..
thanks for mentioning Mikael .. I'll keep an eye on his posts... I just dare to take short visits in the FCE forum, pro.. whhoo ...- The Big Boys...
but the interesting part for me in this news is the codec, harddrive support and mentioning plug-ins doing so...
    we will see. ....
