Camcorder won't send dv-out, thinks i'm sending dv-in

I have a Canon ZR500 that I'm trying to use to import some dv to imovie (on my macbook), but imovie won't recognize it. After perusing the tubes, it seems like the camera may be trying to import rather than export video. The flashing "DV-IN" on the camera lends credence to this hypothesis. Any suggestions as to how I might reverse this flow of digital video?

Did you try yelling at it?
I have a Sony, not a Canon, so I can not offer much first hand advice. But did you go through all the menus a few thousand times to check for any settings that might change it?
Does iMovie see the camcorder at all? How about the Mac if you go into the system profiler and check the Firewire bus?
And finally, perhaps a bad Firewire cable is the issue?

Are you trying to send a message to a cell number or an email address? iPad does MMS, not SMS, meaning it can't send a message to a number. It can send a message to an email address........

I can record midi data from my Mason & Hamlin Piano Disc Pro Record through my MOTU Traveller into Logic but Logic won't send midi data out to the MOTU Traveller to the Piano Disc player

I can record midi data from my Mason & Hamlin Piano Disc Pro Record through my MOTU Traveller into Logic Pro 9.1.8 but Logic won't send the midi data back out to the MOTU Traveller and thus to the Piano Disc player. I got it to playback one time but have no idea how and when it did it was looping or something because the velocity was way high coming back in and the damper pedal was slamming down. When I play a key on the piano the midi "in" light on the Traveller lights up. When I play the track back on my computer no lights blink on the Traveller and when I did the apple midi studio test in utilities when I play a key I get the confirmation signal noise and the Traveller blinks when I click on the down arrow of the Traveller in the Apple midi studio test the midi out light on the traveller never lights and the signal light on the piano does not blink either. No outbound signal at all...
I have messed with every possible parameter I can find and and have had help from one of Piano Disc's premier editors but no luck. The piano was prepped for me on Logic so it would work with my studio. I'm positive it's my fault and I'm overlooking something really simple and stupid but what!??!
Somebody please help. Thank you all in advance for ANY ideas you might have!

I'm not sure if this will be a help or not. I'm so Logic Pro wet behind the ears that I make newbies look experienced. However, I'm not expecting many on the Apple support forums have a PianoDisc system, much less one with the new optical record strip. While I don't have any record strip on my PianoDisc, I do have a PianoDisc iQ that's only a month old. I've been playing converted paper scrolls from hundred year old player pianos through it via the MIDI in port of the PianoDisc CPU. I've found I have to open the MIDI file in Logic Pro (10.0.4) then go to <Track><New External MIDI Track> then copy the existing track to that new external track. Only then can I see in the Track inspector (defaults left side of screen with the Icon for the instrument) the "Port" parameter. Then I can select my external MIDI device in that Port selector.
I've also encountered problems with the PianoDisc not using enough force on the notes or using too much force. To get around this problem, until I understand Logic better, I've been setting minimum and maximum volicities. To do that I right click on the track and select "Select All." Then I right click again and select "MIDI" then "MIDI Transform" then "Velocity Limiter." In the resulting pop up window in the center is a drop down and you can play with the velocity from "MIN" to "MAX" along with "ADD" "SUBTRACT" etc.

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

ICloud email won't send (it tries to send and then freezes, send button grayed out)

I can recieve email just fine. I can draft an email just fine. But it won't send. When I hit the send button, the email window goes away and a message box appears and disappears so fast I can't read it. The email window reapears with the "send" button grayed out. Once this happens, I can't close the email window. I have to quit mail. When I open mail back up, the email will still be there and I can close it. The send button is no longer grayed out, but if I hit send, the same thing happens (i.e., screen flashes and the send button is grayed out).
I've tried deleting the acouunt and reforming it. Didn't help. I checked to see that my outgoing server is "iCloud" and that it send on port 993 and the SSL check box is checked.
Any ideas?

Pages 5.2.2 won't "send to back"

Hi,
I have recently upgraded my Pages version to 5.2.2. I am having an issue moving an image backward. If I click "Send to Back" it won't go behind my text. I have gone into Format-Arrange and used the 'Send to Back' icons, and have also used the Arrange drop down. Both won't send my image all the way to the back.
Please help.

I thought it used to be easy too. And when I tried it with 5.2.2 this evening neither buttons on the Inspector's 'Arrange' menu nor the 'Arrange' drop down menu itself would allow selection. They were all greyed out.
I think they've now added a thing called 'Section Master' under the 'Arrange' menu. I highlighted the image (handles now showing) and in the 'Arrange' menu I selected 'Section Masters' and then clicked 'Move Object to Section Master' which did the trick.

Gmail won't send on iPhone 4S/iOS 7.1

Just got a new iPhone and had problems connecting to Gmail. Someone here helped me out and got that problem fixed. Now it won't send. I get the message:
"Unable to send Email"
"A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address "[email protected]" was rejected by the server."
So I have four emails in my outbox that I can't delete, and they won't send. I can receive email on the phone. I can send and receive email on my iPad and one my computer. So it is a setting in this phone that isn't configured right.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ok - the problem is solved. I'm going to give you the solution so that you can help others in the future, because it is kind of a pain in the butt, and you mentioned that you didn't use gmail. Before I tell you, thanks for trying to help. It is appreciated.
So for some reason, if you use the built in mail applcation instead of the gmail app, AND if you have two-step authenticaiton turned on (which I do) you can not use your standard password. If you are not using two-step authentication, this is not a problem.
So, you have to go into your gmail account from a web browser, go into your two step authentication settings, and generate what is called an "application specific password." You give it a name. For example, I have one for my iPad, one for my iPhone, etc.
The problem I had was that I had put the applicaiton specific password in for checking mail, but not sending it, because it was marked as "optional" so I didn't think I needed it in both locations since all of my email popped up right away. So I generated a new password for the iPhone and put it in both incoming and outgoing email, and it worked.

Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

Hello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. After update to OSX 10.9, Mail won't send attachments

Since upgrading to Mavericks (OSX 10.9), Mail (7.0) won't send email attachments using my employer's MS Exchange account. All other messages (without attachments) send just fine, and no Exchange server or account settings were changed. Attachments send just fine via the exchange web application, so it's not an account or mailbox size issue. The problem happens even with small attachments (I just tried one that was 173 kb).
After I hit send, the activity window says "adding message" for a time, then an error comes up "Cannot send message using the Exhange server" then give me an option to use my gmail or icloud which work fine.
Any ideas?

I actually was able to solve the issue using some info gleaned from other posts. I think it had to do with some exchange account settings from a prior version of Mail that were still on my machine and interfering with the new Mail app. Here's what I did to fix the issue.
Make sure I had a good backup in Time Machine (including system settings) in case something goes wrong
Delete Exchange account using "system preferences > internet accounts"
Close Mail
Show hidden files
Terminal command: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
Terminal command: killall Finder
Using Finder, locate and delete the file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Using Finder, locate and delete the folder(s) and all their contents: ~/Library/Mail/V2/EWS-(your exchange acct info)I actually had a couple of these "EWS" folders in there from prior times that I had setup my exchange account. Not sure why ... I just deleted them all.
Empty the recycle bin
Reboot the computer
Hide hidden files (not necessary, it's just my preference)
Terminal command: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
Terminal command: killall Finder
Open "system preferences > internet accounts" and setup Exchange account as if it were the first time.
It took a while for all my mailboxes to rebuild and everything to come in, but after the initial sync, Mail 7.0 now works perfectly with my Exchange account including sending mail with file attachments. It's actually a lot quicker to receive and send than the prior version of Mail.
It doesn't seem like a widespread problem, but I hope this at least helps you (eprasek) with your issue. Best of luck!

Alternatives for Help Resetting Security Questions and/or Rescue Mail
     1. If you have a valid rescue email address, then use this procedure:

     3. This is the only option if you do not already have a valid Rescue Email.

.Mail won't send attachments

Since upgrading to OS X 10.7, Mail usually won't send attachments. It does not matter if the attachment is small (~300kb) or larger (~3MB). Mail will try to send it (and if you watch the progress bar in the lower right corner of Mail, you can see that it starts uploading the message), but then it stops. Then I get the message: "Cannot send message using the server..." Occsaionally, attachments will work, but I haven't been able to determine why. This is the case for both my desktop (10.7.2) and my laptop (10.7.3).
The e-mail affected is a g-mail account configured through IMAP. I have verified that I have internet connectivity while experiencing this problem and I can even send other e-mails w/o file attachments. I opened the Connection Doctor and everything logs in/out correctly. The details from Connection Doctor are below.
Any ideas?

I am going to try removing the account from mail and then setting it up again to see if it solves the issue.

Why won't my iPad won't send messages?

My iPad2 won't send message to person I just received from. The send button is blue but not active. When I try to send to send a new message to another person their name is red marked with ! and the send button is gray. It won't accept any new name - alwayas in red with !.

Figured it out. The iPad message box has two lines. The first says "Subject" in gray. If you type something into the "Subject" line, but don't type anything on the next line (which is for the message), the send button remains inactive. Try typing the message on the second line. Send button then becomes active.
Now why couldn't Apple tell us that?

I am trying to change my security questions, and it won't send the email to my email.

It says it sent it to the email i am using, and it sent out the password change, but im not recieving the security question email. HELP

I am having the same issue, it just won't send the e-mail. The options that apple provides you are:
Alternatives for Help Resetting Security Questions and Rescue Mail
     1. Apple ID- All about Apple ID security questions.
     2. Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions
     3. Apple ID- Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.
     4. Fill out and submit this form. Select the topic, Account Security.
     5. Call Apple Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support in your
          country and ask to speak to Account Security.

Basically it tells you to go through the link to manage your ID and click on the link to send you the email (which we all did and clearly it's not workin)
Then you can submit a form (which I did and was contacted but all they can manage to say is to call customer service as they are "not able to help" through e-mail. So the reply was to follow option 5, however I specified in the e-mail that I cannot call since I live in Costa Rica and cannot make international calls... THEY HAVE ME IN A LOOP I REALLY NEED TO GET OUT OF!!!!! If any one of you gets this issue fixed without calling, please let me know!

Outbox won't send mail

Had a problem earlier with my email account (Yahoo) being hacked, After resetting password all seemed to be well, but now my iPad won't send mail, it goes into OUTBOX but won't send. Receiving mail is no problem.
I am new to iPad and need a bit of help.

My iPad did resume 'normal service' after an overnight rest. I did not know that there was an imposed 24hr quarantine, but I do know that all's well now.
I found The BT staff in their technical help desk were good at fixing the original hacking problem on my laptop, but totally helpless at sorting the iPad issues out.
I had to talk to Apple help desk in UK who in turn put me through to the USA. Their consultant was great, but he undoubtedly didn't seem to aware of the quarantine imposed by Yahoo. I will try to get this information through to him for future information

My message to anyone who reads this topic and has been hacked on Yahoo (or btinternet) is
1 update security passwords on laptop. New password required. Delete all traces of hacked messages (inc failed delivery notices and real people's responses)
2 uninstall your mail settings on iPad and reinstall with new mail password on iPad.
3 the iPad mail system should then receive, but not send mail (goes into Outbox)
4 wait 24 hours then everything will be back to normal.
As a brand new user and about to go on a long holiday, it was a nightmare, but ended up fine!
Now in Singapore at 6am local time, can't sleep so catching up on my machine which functions perfectly!
