However, be aware that Apple has neither the time nor the incentive to test every camera on the market, so there will be many more models, old and new, that will work perfectly even though they are not on the database.

  • Camcorders compatible with the OS X 10.9.3?

Can someone tell me what camcorders are compatible with the OS X 10.9.3?

I just bought a brand new Lynksys N600 wireless router today and came home to install it. I put in the set up CD and it informed me that the software doesn't support my operating system, which is weird because I have the latest OS.  So I hopped on forums and found out that everyone had similar problems and apparently no Lynksys routers are compatible with the Maverick OS. This seems like a horrific oversight of such a huge company. Plus, many of the posts I was reading were in October of 2013 when OS X 10.9 was released and they STILL haven't fixed the issue? A fresh brand new CD and router STILL won't work with one of the biggest platforms in the world? Almost 9 months later? I found some other threads on this same issue with people that had terrible customer service experiences trying to deal with overseas support and then only being issued a refurbished router even though theirs was defective out of the box.  Basically what I'm getting at is apparently Lynksys is **bleep** and has terrible customer service. I mean, if they can't fix something so gigantic in 9 months, clearly something is terribly wrong.  Some people have found solutions and ways around this issue but ya know what I think? I think I shouldn't have to do any round about ways to get my brand new router to work.  I think I should be able to plug it in and go, none of this temporary hodgepodge troubleshooting **bleep**. So instead of wasting my time, I'm going to go return this one and buy a router from a company that doesn't suck, and I suggest you do too.  I'll never buy another Lynksys product again!
Try to set up the router using a web browser at 192.168.1.1...The CD might not be needed.

  • Camcorders compatible with Mountain Lion

I have been searching for a camcorder to replace my Flip Nano, but the search has been more difficult than I had expected. Another section of this website suggested that I post my question here. Here's what I had posted there:
"I'm in the market for a new camcorder because my Flip Nano is incompatible with Mountain Lion and always will be. However, selecting the replacement is more difficult than I had anticipated. First, there's the matter of selecting candidates, but the search doesn't end there. The question then becomes, will the new camcorder be compatible with Mountain Lion? So far, I have asked three of the sellers about this and two have told me, surprisingly,"I don't know" (the other hasn't yet replied--Has now. Can't help). I'm looking for some shortcut that will make the selection process easier. Can I assume that all camcorders made by the same manufacturer, Sony, for instance, respond in the same way to Mountain Lion? Is there another way to get the information I need? Fortunately, I only have this problem with the two applications/devices that I'd like to keep, and one of them is working on the fix. My only regret is that I installed Mountain Lion, because I preferred Snow Leopard."
In another rmessage, I said the following "...So, my conclusion is, it's not very easy to find camcorders that are compatible with Mountain Lion...unless, unless there is a site for Mac/Mountain Lion users that contains camcorders, and other things, that are compatible with Mountain Lion. or that aren't. Could this be such a place?".
There you have it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you; however I now find that Flip4Mac has been upgraded to work with Mountain Lion (Why didn't they tell me?). Anyway, I have now downloaded their upgrade, and while I haven't yet tested it, I'm hopeful that it will solve the problem.

  • Camcorders compatible with MAC

Can anyone tell me if Panasonic is compatible with Mac OSX 10.4.2? I'm trying to capture video to FCE with a Model PV-GS400, but my PowerMac G5 isn't recognizing the camera.

    Mike
    Drivers should be unnecessary.
I've been using FCE and Panasonic gear for years and the combo does work.
Does your camera have a DV out setting (refer to the manual) that needs to be activated through the menu system?
Do you have any message in the FCE capture window?

  • Less and less camcorders compatible with FCE ?????

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I'm looking at a lot of the 2007 HD consumer camcorders and there are less options available for MAC users. Even those at the $1600 mark. Are we going to see a decline in FCE use because APPLE is not stepping up to the plate? I mean c'mon, the APPLE compatibility list is so old, can they at least look at some new models and stick them on the list? I eman it's not alot. Look at the new Panasonic consumer camcorders, not many in HD but are they compatible? I'm hearing that are not with FCE, whereas the older GS models and others were? Whats the true story with this?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
The compatibility list is obsolete, and in my own opinion it's give more confusion than information.
As prices go down for HDV consumer camera, the spec of camcorders going in the same direction.
Recording on hard disk or DVD allows to minimize the form factory of camera and the cost of the camera itself.
Push record, push stop, eject the DVD and watch the result on your TV: that's the consumer way to make movie.
In the vast majority, consumers do not edit movies ( do you remember plain 8mm film? "no editing" for the mass, same thing for VHS video) .
So camcorder's company focus on this mass of consumers: they simply don't need editing capability.
FCE is not used by the vast majority.
FCE is aimed toward prosumers and professional market: those persons do editing in an extensive way and the use prosumer or professionnal gears. Gears that use the reliable and mature system: DV (in all flavors) and HDV recorded on...DV tapes.
I'm pretty sure that the next generation of iMovie will support newer recording media (it actually support DV, HDV and mpeg-4(a mass consumers format) before apple PRO applications like FCE.

  • Hard Drive Camcorders Compatible with iMac/iMovie???

    Hello,
I'm looking for a Hard Drive Camcoder that is iMovie Compatible. It seems to me that Sony and Panasonic are out of the question. Is JVC compatible? Didn't think this would be such a wild goose chase to find a camcorder. Any advice to a particular model aroound the $400-$600 range would be helpful.
    Thanks!
    Josh

Hard drive recording is convenient, but flash based is more secure. Have you thought about the Sony HDR-CX6EK, right now it is bundled with a 4GB Memory Pro Duo.
iMovie08 handles AVCHD very well. I just started to work with a Sony HDR-CX6EK. Brilliant pictures, nice camera. A clear recommendation. And iMovie08 is convenient, fast and works well with the Sony HDR-CX6EK.
By the way: If you use iPhoto you need to choose "No programm will automatically open" when a camera is connected to the computer - if iPhoto is the default it will detect and grab the camera and iMovie08 will not be able to see the camera.

  • Which HD camcorder will be best compatible with macbook pro?

Which HD Camcrder will be best copm with Macbook Pro?

There are scores of them on the market at any given time that will work just fine with the MBP. The list changes every week as models are introduced and discontinued. No one has tried enough of them to have any idea which is "most compatible," and since prices range from under $100 into the thousands and you've told us nothing about how much you hope to spend or what features you want, no one can answer your question.

  • Which HDV Camcorders are compatible with FCE HD?

Where can I find a list of HDV Camcorders (preferrably Sony camcorders) whose video files are compatible and be edited by Final Cut Express HD? I have a MacBook Pro with FCE HD and now I am trying to decide on which camcorder to purchase.
Someone told me that tapeless (ie. Hard Disk Drive) camcorders are not compatible with FCE HD. Is this true?
So which camcorders are a) whose video footage could be edited by FCE HD and b) recommended by most?
    Thanks for all your help!!

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Currently, iDVD do not support HD on HD-DVD.
Toast does support it in his most recent version BUNDLED with HD DVD burner.
As I know, there are only 3 company who sell HD-DVD burner.
They are very expensive, same thing for HD-DVD blank media.
The "war" between HD Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is not over and the industry (cinema, computers makers, consumers) dont know what technology will win the market.
You can shoot in HDV, convert directly from your camcorder (with sony models, see specifications of your model), and capture in SD in FCE HD. (the result on the DVD is better than shooting in SD and the process is easy)
You can capture HDV footage in ... HDV project with FCE HD set for this format (with the help of Apple intermediate Codec), edit in HDV and print to tape on your camcorder to keep and view the edited HDV content on a HD tv set.
Once the burners will be avalaible at a reasonnable cost, you will recapture your edited movie from your saved tape, and burn the movie in High definition DVD. IMovie HD or FCE HD will do this job well.
Your MacBook does'nt have a HD DVD burner (like any mac sold currently), so think about an external one.

  • Is FCE HD compatible with Panasonic GS400 and GS500 camcorders?

After trawling web page after web page I can't seem to get a definitive answer on whether or not FCE HD (not FCP) is compatible with the Panasonic GS400 and the newer GS500 camcorder. I just bought the 500 in Japan and I'm now panicking that I won't be able to use it with FCE HD, which I'm yet to buy. Can anybody give me a "yes" or a "no" rather than a "maybe/probably"?

  • What Camcorders Are Compatible With iMac

I am looking to buy a digital video camera but I am not sure if they are "compatible" with my iMac. My friend just bought the JVC - Everio Digital Camcorder - Model: GZMG330HUS. It comes with Windows software and the manual has a brief mention of how to Backup-Up the video files onto the Mac but no mention of the video format being compatible with Mac. Anyway we tried plugging it into the Mac to see how it responded, and it did not, except that it saw it as a device that we could access the video files to copy then to the Mac hard drive. The Video files have an extendion .MOD and .MOI. Tried double clicking on the MOD (the video itself) and the Mac gave the message that no application exists to run it.
I am currently on iMovie HD 6.0.3.
I really want iMovie to recognize it so I can edit the video and make movies to sent to family.
So, my question is whether any of you have tried this? Is there a solution to get this type of camera to be recognized by iMac? Are there other suggestions for compatible cameras in the $400-500 range (like this JVC is)?
I went to my local Apple Store and they did not have an answer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Brad,
While IMovie 08 MAY work with that cam, you may not like iMovie 08! Be sure to have a look at it at your Apple store before you buy iLife 08. It is NOT an upgraded iMovie HD, but a whole re-write of the software, simplified and with less editing features than what you have with iMovie HD6.
If you want to keep your current iMovie version, you must buy a miniDV tape cam with firewire. There are very good miniDV cams in your price range that will possibly give you better quality video than a hard drive or disc cam too, since miniDV does not employ the high compression of data that the other formats do. Hope that helps.
