Camera and camera roll stopped working

A week after updating to the ios5, my camera and camera roll stopped working. It shuts down as soon as it opens. I have tried to retrieve them from my phone to put on my computer, but my computer no longer recognizes my phone. I DONT want to lose any pictures. Can anyone help please?

I'm having the same problem. I found that if I can get the camera roll to open long enough to select viewing photos by places rather than albums I can access my photos that way. You could then forward them to yourself on another device.
However, I have no clue on how to fix the issue. I've tried resetting my phone (Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo)  and restoring my phone to default settings. Neither has helped.
If anyone knows a fix, please let me know.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

    If restarting doesn't fix, use the relevant suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.  If nothing else there works, the repair by an Apple-Authorized Service Provider suggested there and by spudnuty will get it sorted.
    (Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

    Apple at this time does not repair iPods, but assuming that that iPod is not in multiple pieces will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:

    There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to perform a repair for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". It is also possible to purchase parts and find instructions on doing a repair yourself, though it's not particularly easy. Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop or perform a repair yourself, all further support from Apple will be void.

    Reset the device:
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    * No data is lost due to a reset

    the blue light is beside the web cam, on the top of screen. But this light is on when I try to use the web cam in anywhere, like Skype, Msn or even in programs in the computer that only take a pictue or make a video of you, without ineternet (I do not know the name of this program). But it seems that computer and the programs recognize the web cam, because there is no messages when I turn on the web cam.
    In Skype settings is the same, there is nothing wrong, there is no different message. The only thing is when I try to take picture a message appears: "failed", but the video seems to record normally, although everythng is black.
    Could you understand what I meant?

    You didn't state what camera you are using. There have been some issues with Dell XPS models. If that is the case, the problem has not been resolved as of yet. You can try downgrading to an older release to see if the camera works once again.
    You have two options to try to resolve this:
    1. Try 3rd party software like manycam (manycam.com). See if your camera works in the manycam software. If it does, select the manycam virtual driver in Skype and see if your camera still operates with the latest release. If you go this route be sure to do a custom install to install only the main program.
    2. Your other option would be to revert/downgrade to a prior release or a version that exists to address video/camera compatibility issues like the Skype special version:

       If you need to use the "reset" suggestion, use the correct reset for your Mac.
    • Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then

    • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
       that completes the Combo update.
    Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of the camera.
    • If nothing else resolves your problem, yours is likely a hardware issue.
       Unless you have a current backup, make one now.
    Then use the final "Troubleshooting" suggestion:

  • My FaceTime HD camera has stopped working on my 2013 11" MacBook Air.

    Recently, my FaceTime HD camera has stopped working. The green LED indicating that it's on will turn on for a second, then turn off. The camera is never activated, and it constantly repeats this cycle. I contacted Apple for help after I had tried repairing permissions, resetting the SMC, and reinstalling the OS as a last resort. I don't know what to do at this point. I'm running Mac OS X Mavericks, and the camera had no problems with the OS. The camera has just suddenly stopped working. Can anybody please help?

    FIX:  
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

    Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

    So my back camera randomly stopped working when i got a snapchat. the screen appears black.
    It stopped working on all camera using apps, and to use the front camera i have to switch to front camera (screen remains black), close the app, and open it again and then the frontcam appears.
    I've deleted snapchat just in case. i closed all apps, restarted the phone (home+sleep button) but to no avail.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Why every half hour or so does my iPad camera app stop working?

    Every like half hour or so my iPad camera app stops working. I tap and It and  a blank screen appears. If I turn my iPad off and on again it works fine.

    There are any number of reasons why that might be happening. An app confict, low memory (that's not supposed to happen but ...), so it's hard to say for sure what the issue could be.
    You could try closing the camera app until you need again, and see if that makes any difference. Unless you really need to get to the camera app every half hour for whatever reason, there should be no problem in quitting the app.
    Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps.
    Then just launch the app again when you need it.
