Camera and sound edit in premiere

I have to work on a commerical that I will be editing in premiere.  Can anyone tell me some suggestions on
what type of equipment, hd camera would be best for this.  I'm not looking for super high end, but something
that won't break the bank and will still look professional.
Also, will anything separate be needed for recording audio? Or can you pick up audio from the camera.
Thanks for your suggestions and help in advance!

Come on, guys, he's not shooting a promo for CSI: Miami or anything.  A local TV commercial doesn't have to have such high standards, especially with the lower budgets.
At my church we have a Panasonic AG-HMC150.  For the price it's the best camera out there, and Premiere natively supports the AVCHD format that it records in.  There right around $4k.  I dunno how much to rent.  If that's still out of your budget, a consumer grade HD camera should be able to get the job done if you use it right.  Without knowing more about the commercial, it's hard to recommend equipment, but here's a few suggestions.  If you have someone on camera giving some dialogue, you'll probably want to get a wireless lapel mic or something of that sort (and make sure you have the right connectors/adapters to plug it into the mic jack on the camera).  As far as lighting, depending on the situation, just use your basic 3-light technique using some cheap but bright lights.
If you're wanting to do some graphic animations, you could probably get better looking ones using After Effects.  It has a lot of cool animation presets for graphics and text, and you can add motion blur, etc.  For just basic still or scrolling text on the screen, Premiere will do fine.
Tell us some more about the commercial and we can give more specific ideas.

  • Client Supplied AVI files from Flip Camera--Can't Edit in Premiere CS3

A client handed me a DVD-ROM disc with video footage he shot on a Flip camera.
The footage appears to import with no errors, but when I drag it to the timeline, I am presented with the "no" icon (O with a slash through it).
Apparently CS3 only sees the file as audio and I can drag it there.
VLC Media Player will play both the video AND audio portion, so I know the files are complete. It is just Premiere that can't deal with them.
Before I tell the client I can't take the job, is there anything I overlooked that would make these Flip camera AVI files editable in Premiere CS3?

Here is one of the ARTICLES that Harm mentions, from the PrE Tips & Tricks sub-forum.
There is also a very recent post to this forum on using the Flip material. I think that I, Jeff and probably Harm commented in that one. You can filter your Seach by People and use any one of us. I'd start with Jeff Bellune and look for the more recent dates.
    Good luck,

Hello arindamd and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're having an issue with the sound on your device.
To rule out a software issue, backup your data (see KB12487 How to back up the data on a BlackBerry smartphone) then follow the steps in KB11320 How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows or KB19915 Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer).
Before any software is restored test the sound recorder.
If no sound is recorded then it's likely the issue may be a hardware one in which case you will need to contact your point of sale for hardware repair options.
    Hope this helps.

  • Video and Sound Editing

Does a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 have enough power for serious video editing with imovie or serious sound editing with garageband?

Hi, depends on how serious I guess...
Note: The Mac App Store lists the system requirements for current versions of iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand).
I don't have access to the App Store, so I can't see the details, I'd think for those 2 it'd be acceptable with enough RAM.

  • Darker prints and sound editing in LR4

Printed pictures off of lightroom 4 to a local store. Changed format from RAW to jpeg. Pictures turned out darker than the ones on preview in the computer. Does anyone have the same experience? Also does lightroom 4 have sound editing capabilities?

Everything you indicated is correct, but it would be nice to know exactly what model and type monitor he has.
Many programs will not work with certain monitors, and certain monitors do not have the controls and or physical range to make changes that color management software will make.
He should do some reading up as well so he knows what he is up against.

  • Hardware and GPU editing in Premiere Pro

Hey guys,  I have a terrible doubt abt my hardware..
    I have
    -i5 4th generation
    -8gb ram
    -GPU GTX570 CUDA 480
Standard Memory Config 1280 MB GDDR5
    Memory Interface Width 320-bit
I'm aware that this is not the best of pc of the world.. but I need to edit videos  as Mov, MTS, natives formats of cameras.. I want to improve my PC. Which is better to invest Processor or GPU? I wanna improve my workflow,
    preview better with effects etc.
    Some Help please.
    Thank you!

    Bill/cc_merchant,
So you are saying that there is a limit to the number of Cuda cores that Pr will use?  That going from 480 cores to 1536 (or more) will not show any appreciable improvement in rendering speed?  Especially without knowing whether or not his CPU is maxed while rendering or what kinds of effects he is using?
I ask this because (1) I really want to understand where the best bang for my buck rendering is going to go and (2) I'm in a similar position to Felipe.  I need to upgrade because my render times are out of control.  I try to stick to effects that benefit from GPU rendering and believe that is the direction Adobe is going and that, eventually, in so far as they can be adapted, all effects will eventually benefit from GPU rendering.  Am I way off base here?
I have a similar GPU (560ti, 1GB, Pr GPU .txt hack), but other parts of my system are significantly different (i7-3770, 16GB, RAID 0 SSD OS and Rendering drives).  I need to do something because my render times are way longer than I think they should be these days (up to 4:1 render time to display time (or MUCH more with Neat denoise, which is supposed to be Cuda core capable)).
I cannot find any definitive information regarding what Pr benefits from and what its limitations are.  For example, is there a limit to the number of Cuda cores that Pr will use (effectively) and are more cores more important than more VRAM?  Especially in light of the relatively huge VRAM available on Quadro cards.  What is the recommended minimum VRAM that any Cuda card should have these days, especially in light of future capabilities, such as 4K and/or built-in effects.
Thanks for any light you can shed on this subject because I haven't been able to find any!  I'm on a limited budget and can't afford to spend $2-5K on an "ultimate" system.
    Scott
PS. I don't believe in overclocking because it (1) can cause hard to track instability problems and (2) increases temperatures and every 10-15% increase in temp, results in about 1/2 the life expectancy of the components.

  • Nvidia GTX 970 and Matrox Mojito MAX Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Good day everyone,
I am building a workstation and I would like to ask, if I can use both of the cards, The GTX970 for rendering and Matrox Mojito MAX for monitoring? I know, that Matrox card is hardware accelerating h.264, but is it faster than GTX970? If i can use this combo, how can I set? If i set the Mojito to preview, can I set the Mercury settings in the project settings for GTX970? Will it work? Thank you for respond.

The Matrox hardware has nothing to do with the Mercury settings. When you go to File > Export > Media, you will have options for "H.264" and "Matrox H.264" - choose the Matrox option as "Format" and then you will see dozens of presets to choose from. These will use the Matrox Max hardware acceleration. You can do your own test between similar presets (Adobe and Matrox) and decide for yourself which works better for you. Again, this only affects EXPORT and not "editing" in Premiere.
    Thanks

I am using a Lumix GH3 camera and recording in .mov at 50fps progressive and 50mbps.  My computer is a macbook pro two years old with 2.2ghz intel core i7 and 8gb of ram (1333 MHz DDR3).
The footage plays fine in the editing suite until I add an effect then the playback is extremely slow and jerky even after render.  Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?  I am new to PPCC and I've just moved from FCP 7 as it didn't recognise the footage at all.
    Cheers for any advice

There is a list of approved graphics cards for Premiere Pro. http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html
Your card is on the list as an OpenCL compatible card. You need to make sure that your card is recognized by Premiere Pro and that you have your settings right in order to take advantage of it.

  • I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function works

I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function, render workspace function, export file are still operational. How can I fix it so I may complete my assignment?
Besides DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is the only software on the machine. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System on AMD FX 6100 six-Core Processor at 3.31gHz and 32 GB RAM memory. There are two SLI-bridged GTX680 NVidia cards.
The software was very stable for the last six months, working with 720P proxy files from 2.5K masters (Blackmagic Design Camera). I am working on a feature-length project that exceeds 1000 edits. I have broken the file into 2 one hour segments.
I have deactivated the software before reinstalling the entire OS from scratch. PP6 was very stable for 48 hours. Then the freezing space bar returns. After a dozen strokes into the project, same problem.  I have made cache files store next to originals, I have deleted preview files if they were corrupted and causing instability. Am I missing something?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials for virus protection. I double checked the memory for damage/defect. Nothing says that the motherboard or other components are damaged.
I am in film competition overseas and need to have deliverables in less than a month's time.  I lost the last two weeks troubleshooting and this crisis came at an inopportune moment of the project.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Still getting software freezes but found a way to mitigate for the mean time.
Upon launching Adobe Premiere Pro, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to launch TaskManager as well.
You will want to highlight Adobe QT32 Server.exe
Right click and select "End Process Tree"
You will get considerable stability in the program, long enough to get timing of cuts done. Be sure to save often.
If the program freezes, do not hit Save. You definitely want to avoid saving the corruption into your TimeLine
CTRL-ALT-DEL to relaunch the TaskManager and highlight Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
    Right-click to "End Process"
No need to reboot the whole system; just launch Premiere Pro again and continue with the session. Note that your work reverted to Last Save.
Hope this helps until the bug is fixed.

  • MOV to DVD editing in premiere and encore

Hi.. Sometime ago I bought a digital still camera which can also shoot 640x480 30fps quicktime mov files.
To edit, combine and share the videos I am planning to write them in dvd with premiere pro cs3 and encore cs3. Although I have learned some about these programs I dont know some important preferences of exporting.
Could someone please answer these questions so I know what I am doing...
    1. When starting a new project or exporting to encore to make mpeg-2 DVD what should I select in field order...Lower, upper or no fields (progressive scan)?
    2. Likewise is my source video coming from camera as quicktime mov interlaced or non-interlaced? If it is non-interlaced it would be ridiculous to de-interlace, right? Although I used gspot to understand that I couldnt get any information about that issue
    3. When I compare my source movie and output DVD I find that quicktime movie is a little bit sharper than DVD output in my computer. Is this normal or should I sharpen it a little in premiere pro before outputting to encore?
    4. As I can edit in premiere and export as mpeg-2 I dont need any other quicktime codec, do I?
This is the result I got from gspot

    Thanks for the replies.

Your camera is not suited for video editing. Either use a proper video camera or use a different application.
    1. Lower.
    2. Depends on your camera.
    3. Likely to happen. GIGO, garbage in, garbage out.
    4. No.

  • Computer CONSTANTLY restarts while editing with premiere and after effects

Whenever i edit in premiere or after effects, my computer will always just randomly restart.  It normally does it more in after effects than premiere, but lately, it has been doing it a lot in premiere, sometimes as much as every 15 minutes.    Here are my specs:
    Windows 7 64 Bit
    i7 Processor
    12GB Ram
    4tb Raid system
    NVIDA GEFORCE video card
    800 watt power supply
    3ghz speed
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have been told that it could be the video card before, but I highly doubt that my video card is not sufficient enough for basic video editing on premiere, as I know many people who have worse video cards that edit with no problem.  Please help!

  • Help with multi camera editing in Premiere Pro

Ok I'm new...so bear with me.
I am editing a basic interview shot on two cameras and cutting away to some still images.
The rushes are 4 lots of film about 10 mins in length.
I inputted the footage from the two cameras and created a new sequence for each using the multi camera audio synchronisation method (which worked great).
So how do I go about creating my edit? Something tells me I'm going about it in the wrong way.
Do I need to create my edit using single camera shots and then create multi camera sequences for each individual clip? It seems so laborious as its all already synced up for two cameras.
I am a bit confused about creating clips v creating sequences.
I'm sorry if this is making some of you cringe :/ ....but I really can't find any help in online tutorials.
I need basic step by step instruction.

humm, sounds like your 4 lots do not overlap in time, and that there is space between each lot. So would that be 4 multi-camera sequences with the two cameras?
If so, why even multicamera edit that? and just set up to Video tracks, sync the audio and opacity keyframe between the two tracks.
Good to get your multi-camera edit workflow going proper though.
Sounds like you need to multi-camera edit your 4 sequences separately, unless you sync each lot with its corresponding clip and put on the same timeline, then do one sequence and one multi-camera edit

  • How do I relink audio and sound mxf clips brought into Premiere CC. (works fine in CS5.5)

How do I relink audio and sound mxf clips brought into Premiere CC.  Didn't have this problem in CS5.5 so unsure why they unlink in CC.

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done.  Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

  • I edited photos in photo shop that  I took off of my camera and then whenI was done I saved them in a folder in my documents as a JPEG. Now when I try to open them there is an encrytion error me assage.

The folks here would need far more information from you before they provide help.
You know the drill:  Exact OS...PS version...etc. The more you provide, the better.
What is the exact message that is displayed?
What have you tried so far?
Do the files display on your browser? In Bridge?
What are you doing when it happens?
Are the files still on your cameras card? If so and,you copy one to your desktop and save it without changes, does it reload properly?
Don't worry about providing too much information. Every little bit helps.
