Camera calibration only shows ACR 3.3 & 4.4 in Lightroom 2.5

I can't find anything recent about the camera calibration options except they are out of Beta, but shouldn't I see something other than ACR 3.3 / 4.4? I thought there was a list of cameras there previously.
I'm on Mac 10.4.11.
Thanks,
Debra

Debra:
Be thankful you've seen ACR 3.3 and 4.4 in Lightroom 2.5.  Having installed the LR 2.5 update twice, all I've seen is a camera calibration called "Beta".
As usual, I log on as administrator to perform Adobe updates.  In this particular case, after upgrading, and logging in as a User, Beta was the only profile listed.
Having just purchaased and installed Xrite's Color Checker Passport, I used that software to create a profile for my new Canon 7D camera.  I currently have just two profiles, Beta and Canon 7D Neutral.  The rest of the camera profiles provided by Adobe are still missing.
Spending several hours searching for .dcp files (camera calibration files) I see that doing a search for .dcp files in both visible and hidden file locations, I've found two locations where .dcp files are located namely:
1) C:\Documents and Settings\Strenk\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Canon EOS 7D Neutral.dcp (Color Checker Passport created)
2) C:\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Adobe Standard
While I haven't attempted to do so yet, I'm guessing that copying files from location 2 to location 1 will allow you to find the camera profiles that Adobe provides in the Lightroom 2.5 update.
I hope this helps!

The usual list of camera profiles is only for Nikon and Canon cameras. You'd have to create your own profiles, or find someone sharing.

  • Camera calibration tab in ACR ...

When we slide the saturation slider for a primary to the left end (completely desaturated position), does it mean that we move this primary to the white point on the chromaticity diagram? Thanks ...

Moving the camera calibration saturation sliders to -100 does not completely desaturate the RGB colors. It only moves the saturation in a range useful for camera calibration–you would never need to completely desaturate a sensors colors for the purposes of calibration.
I see ... but as ssprengel said, if you desaturate three primaries -250 in total, input profiles on the camera calibration tab can be made monochrome. I think that the range of saturation sliders are going beyond which are required for just fine tuning camera profiles. Am I missing something?

  • Multi-Cam Tool only showing angles on pause...

    Hello,
I know this has been discussed before, and I had posted on this too, however, I am still having problems, and had to finish my project 'manually', and could not use the multi-cam function, and am wondering if there is ANYTHING else I can do to rectify this. This is what I have done on my own:
Trashed my Preferences, however, I noticed that only 'Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs' and 'Final Cut Pro Prof Cache' loaded in again when I re-launched Final Cut. 'Final Cut Obj Cache' and 'com.apple.FCP.plist' did not get included. Does this matter? They are still in my Trash, as I have not emptied it.
I Collapsed/Uncollapsed my clips, rendered them since I was prompted to do so, set both the Viewer and the Canvas to 'Open', yet they both still play at the same time, in 'full' format. If I don't render, I can't play because of stuttering, then stopping.
RT Menu is set to 'Unlimited RT'; 'Scrub High Quality'; 'Dyamic'; 'Dynamic'; 'Multiclip Playback' and 'Full Quality'.
I read about putting in a 'null' effect, so as not to render, but then it stutters, then stops playing completely. Also, if I take the rendering out of Rendering Manager and continue w/out rendering, it's the same thing - not able to play until it's rendered.
If there's anyone who can help with this, I have seriously tried every avenue I can think of, and I haven't been able to get anywhere with this - sorry this so long, but needed to say what I've done, thanks in advance!

I tend to give my clients a rough cut with no filters applied. If they're happy with the cut, then we go through and add any necessary color correction, etc.
If you don't think your client could handle seeing a rough cut with no filters, the give it to them with the filters. Once they decide on some changes, throw out your render files, make your changes, and render again. Or, like you said, it shows the angles on pause. Pause it on the shot the client doesn't like and pick a different one.
As far as transitions, well of course it would only be able to show the selected angle. How would you suggest FCP creates a dissolve from one clip to four clips?

    And the answer is?
Like most other problems, do the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide:
    Restart phone
    Reset phone
Restore in iTunes using a backup
Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup
If restoring as new doesn't help, there is a hardware failure that needs warranty service from Apple.
If your phone has EVER been jailbroken, all bets are off...

  • Lightroom 4.3 doesn't show my Camera Calibration Profile.

I have Lightroom 4.3 and a Canon 6D. I cannot get Lightroom to display my Camera Calibration Profile when I am developing a raw file.
I have dug through the MAC Library and Application Support folder and found CameraRaw. That folder contains my listed cameras. But when I am in Lightroom, I do not see that profile in the Camera Calibration section.
Is there a way to force Lightroom to display my camera profile? Lightroom 2 used to display it.

If the screen shot you posted is what you see in the Lightroom Camera Calibration panel, then they are the profiles that are specific to your camera model.
Thats just the way they are named. You will not see profiles that are specific to other cameras.

  • Camera Raw.8bi in ACR 5.4 download

    From this link:-
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407344.html#PSE6Win:-
"..Extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the ZIP file you downloaded. (Extract only the Camera Raw.8bi file that is at the top level of the ZIP file. Do not extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the Win64 folder that is inside the ZIP file. This folder contains the 64-bit edition of the Camera Raw plug-in, which is compatible only with the 64-bit edition of Photoshop CS4.)"
    I therefore downloaded:-
    cameraraw_5-4_rc_win_052109.zip
    from this link:-
    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php?title=Camera_Raw_5.4
However when I examine "cameraraw_5-4_rc_win_052109.zip" it does not seem to contain "Camera Raw.8bi" unlike the last ACR update I used i.e. Camera_Raw_5_2.zip which does contain "Camera Raw.8bi"
How can I extract "Camera Raw.8bi" from "cameraraw_5-4_rc_win_052109.zip"?
    Any advice please?

    Wrong!
It's one and the same Camera Raw plug-in for Elements as it is for the full version of Photoshop.
Remember it's a Release Candidate (beta) version, so don't look for it on the regular Adobe.com downloads page.  It's at Adobe Labs (labs.adobe.com)

  • Camera Calibration worth it?

I'm looking at the x-rite colorchecker passport for camera calibration in LR/ACR, I've read some reviews and tutorial vids and for $99 seems like a no-brainer, though, on the flip side, I did read someone who said that it is more useful for studio/table-top photography than, say, landscape, etc., and that 'accurate color doesn't necessarily translate to pleasing color'. Anyone try one of these things? Worthwhile investment?

I have had a Colorchecker Passport since Feb.  I've been pretty pleased with it and the profiles that it produces.
I have noticed recently one issue.  Having used a polarizer extensively in autumn, I've found that using a profile generated using the Colorchecker Passpost software (I am using the latest version available) tends to heavily oversaturate autumn foliage and thereby loses detail.  For those shots, I've gone back to Adobe Standard and bumped the vibrance and saturation to taste with better results.
On other shots, it will push reds, oranges and foliage (yellow/green) towards yellow.  In some of those cases, Adobe Standard works out better as well.
I don't have a profile for every shoot - I do them by season, time of day (e.g., "mid day", "late afternoon", etc.) and the conditions (sun, haze, cloud,...).
I have definitely noticed that skin tones are better.

My profile in camera calibration in lightroom 5 showing only embedded". How to set profile to landscape or portrait. I can't find any other option, only embedded. How to install all profile's?

The profiles are there, but they only display and are only available for raw images. The image that you are highlighting is either a JPEG or some other non--raw file format. The only profile available for non-raw images is the embedded profile.

  • Camera Calibration profiles not showing

On Vista Business SP1, only ACR 4.4 and ACR 4.2 show in the Camera Calibration tab, in both ACR 5.3 and Lightroom 2.3.
    Both
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera
    and
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Adobe Standard
are present, with entries for my Canon 40D. The profiles were showing in earlier (beta) versions of ACR and Lightroom, and, I think, in the latest version, but now are not showing.
    Thanks for any help.

Somehow my install must have gotten munged.
I just reinstalled PS (and so Bridge and ACR) from the CS4 distribution, applied the related updates, and now the camera profile show properly in ACR 5.3 and LR 2.3.
I should say, the reinstall and update process went without a hitch, for which I am grateful.

  • ACR Version display under Camera Calibration in ACR 4.2

I have downloaded and installed the ACR 4.2. When I open my RAW images of Canon 30D and go to the "camera Calibration" menu, I see ACR 3.4 in the Camera Profile drop down list. Is this expected or am I doing something wrong. If it's expected, why does it show as 3.4 ? For my Canon 10D images it shows as ACR 2.4.
    Specs:
    - Running CS3 on Windows XP SP2
    - RAW image from Canon 30D
    - Using HP Pavilion t530i desktop
Let me know if any other info is needed.
    Thanks,

That is normal behavior, it only reflects the first time the camera was added to ACR and until there are changes made to the original profile the new version will show

  • ACR 3.7 not available in the Camera Calibration Profile

On a Mac G5 in the Develop module>Camera Calibration panel the only Profile that shows up is ACR 3.6. I have Camera Raw 3.7 installed in Library>Application Support>Adobe> Plug-Ins>CS2>File Formats>Camera Raw.plugin.
I have a new camera that is supported only by 3.7. Any ideas why this isn't available in the menu?

Yes. Because that only tells you WHEN your camera were profiled.
I think mine say 2.4 or something like that.
If your camera has been reprofiled you may have the option to use a older version in that menu.
For the record, LR doesn't care if you upgrade Camera Raw or not. LR is somewhat based on Camera Raw but is a completely separate app.

  • Imported DNGs generated in ACR for Windows only show thumbnails

    Hi,
Today I imported DNGs from pictures I've created with my 350D through the last year or so. Some of these work completely fine, but others won't show the full-resolution image; they only show a small 256 x 171 thumbnail version.
There is a pattern to whether it's working correctly or not: the DNGs that display correctly were converted on my old iBook - in other words using Adobe Camera Raw for Mac - and the ones that don't work were the pictures I processed on my Windows PC, thus using the Windows version of ACR.
Another thing I've noticed is that apparently the changes made to the pictures in ACR are not recognized by Aperture - is this to be expected?
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to make my pictures work as they should? Thanks in advance.

    UPDATE
My solution works but I would suggest a few things to avoid a problem I encountered (see THE PROBLEM below):
    - Copy your Aperture Library File to the desktop (after backing it up to your vault), then reload Aperture. Your Library should now be empty.
    - Then import your DNGs in batches to this new library
    - As each import batch is successful, export the project to a file on the Desktop.
    - When they have all been successful, copy your original Aperture Library file back to its original location (after deleting the new one you created)
    - Then import the projects you saved to the Desktop one by one
The above steps mean that you don't have to go through the process of restoring your library (and all the thumbnails) should Aperture spit the dummy and crash during a DNG import. If it does, you won't be able to fix it without restoring the library... A pain in the A
    THE PROBLEM
I was having a problem with a handful of DNGs which seemed to cause Aperture to crash and exit. I couldn't work out what was going on but now I think I have an answer.
The problem seemed to be with DNGs created with the newer versions of the Windows DNG Converter. Converting them with the latest Mac DNG Converter (v3.4) did not resolve the issue.
So, I downloaded the Mac DNG converter v3.1 and converted the existing troublesome DNGs v3.1.... and it works. I can now import even the troublesome DNGs into Aperture now without a hitch.
There seems to be no way of telling which DNG converter version was used to create an individual DNG although I found that it was related to all DNGs after a certain date (ie. the date I started using the newer DNG converter!)
I hope this of help to everyone and that it has answered the question.
    Cheers,

  • Can't get any camera calibration profiles to show up

I am using lightroom 5 on a windows 8 pc and can not get any camera calibration profiles to show up. I have 14 profiles for my Sony SLT-A65 in my cameraprofiles folder and a corresponding camera folder with also has these profiles. I have checked all file attributes and the only thing I see differrent from some other camera profiles is the file ownership is adminisrator instead of system. Also Photoshop does not see any camera calibration profiles either. I have done a lightroom installation repair from original disk which didn't fix. I have all my lens profiles which work fine. I have tried renaming profiles from SLT-A65V to SLT-A65 to match what shows up on displayed file information. Can't think of anything else. Can anyone help??

I have since corrected this issue. I downloaded adobe DNG profile editor and loaded the camera profiles I had and then saved them. At this point all of them showed up in Photoshop and Lightroom. Don't know what the difference was but they are seen now by my programs.
    Thanks for the reply
