Camera calibration panel

I am running LR2.1,PS3 and ACR 4.5 on Win Vista. Current in the Camera Calibration panel under Profiles only Acr 4.4 and 4.2 show up.
Any ideas how to get my latest ACR version to show up?
TIA,
Jim

>Or is it a clash between two betas, ACR 4.6 and Camera Profiles? I'll try some of the D70 NEFs tonight....
There are profiles in the package for the D70 and D70s and they should work really well. With my old D50 (same sensor as the D70)
I get far better results with the camera matching profiles than with the Adobe standard profiles. The D90 is newer (very few people yet have it in the US) than the profiles and I am sure profiles will be added in the next go around.

  • ACR Camera Calibration Panel

Hi, I installed PSE 9 last week followed by ACR 6.2.   I use a Sony Alpha 350.
In ACR, when I look at the Camera Calibration panel and drop-down menu I see "Adobe Standard" and "ACR 4.4".
    Is this correct?
If not, what should be there?  In looking at some Kelby books, it seems as though the creative styles from the camera appear there.
I don't know what I should be doing.  Is there something additional I have to download?
    Thank you.

Ok, now I see that in the unzipped ACR files you get two files and a folder called Win64. One file is Camera Raw.8bi which is the ACR plug in. The other file is CameraProfiles.exe which is, I guess, the Camera profiles executable.
If I run it does it install the Sony Alpha 350 creative styles under the Camera Calibration Panel????
Sorry, just don't know what to do.. thanks!

  • Basic panel's Tint VS Camera Calibration's Tint

    Hi there!
    ..my first post here..
I was wondering..what's the point of having two Tint adjustments option? Do they affect the image differently? I wonder what's the technical need.
Hope is not too much of a silly question, but I wanted to get more in depth in the Camera Calibration panel.
    thnx

WB sliders are moving position of the white point, while saturation sliders in calibration section are changing the distance between (virtual) position of R, G and B primary of the sensor and the white point. They can't really do the same
Well, I don't understand the terminology you've used. But isn't this true:
    Basic white balance:
    * Temperature slider to the right reduces relative amount of blue.
    * Tint slider to the right reduces relative amount of green.
    And in camera calibration:
    * B saturation to the left reduces the absolute amount of blue.
    * G saturation to the left reduces the absolute amount of green.
So by changing *BOTH* global saturation and camera calibration sliders you can change the white balance of a photo, in a fashion very close to, if not exactly like the white balance sliders in the basic section.
That seems right to me - Is there something not being taken into consideration?
PS - ACDSee's editor only has R, G, & B sliders for adjusting white balance (there are no temperature and tint sliders), or at least that was true a few versions back.

  • ACR 3.7 not available in the Camera Calibration Profile

On a Mac G5 in the Develop module>Camera Calibration panel the only Profile that shows up is ACR 3.6. I have Camera Raw 3.7 installed in Library>Application Support>Adobe> Plug-Ins>CS2>File Formats>Camera Raw.plugin.
I have a new camera that is supported only by 3.7. Any ideas why this isn't available in the menu?

Yes. Because that only tells you WHEN your camera were profiled.
I think mine say 2.4 or something like that.
If your camera has been reprofiled you may have the option to use a older version in that menu.
For the record, LR doesn't care if you upgrade Camera Raw or not. LR is somewhat based on Camera Raw but is a completely separate app.

  • Camera calibration 'V4' profiles Nikon D700

Hello, I have a question about the camera calibration panel. I'm using a Nikon D700. In the profile list of the camera calibration panel I'm seeing for example 'Camera Standard' but also 'Camera Standard V4'. I'm confused about which one to use the best. Because if the 'Camera Standard V4' is a newer version, why is the 'Camera Standard' profile also still there?

Any profile that is listed is there to be used. It's up to your personal taste and your shooting style to determine which profile is "best". I don't have that camera and I don't have different versions of profiles. It would be reasonable to assume that a version 4 would be improved. That sometimes happens with new cameras. But the only way to determine which is going to be the best for your images is to try them both and decide. There is no right or wrong profile to use. The right profile to use is the one that gives you the best results.

  • Lightroom 4.3 doesn't show my Camera Calibration Profile.

I have Lightroom 4.3 and a Canon 6D. I cannot get Lightroom to display my Camera Calibration Profile when I am developing a raw file.
I have dug through the MAC Library and Application Support folder and found CameraRaw. That folder contains my listed cameras. But when I am in Lightroom, I do not see that profile in the Camera Calibration section.
Is there a way to force Lightroom to display my camera profile? Lightroom 2 used to display it.

If the screen shot you posted is what you see in the Lightroom Camera Calibration panel, then they are the profiles that are specific to your camera model.
Thats just the way they are named. You will not see profiles that are specific to other cameras.

  • Lr 4 - Camera Calibration

I am using Lightroom 4 on Windows 7.
Why is there only one Profile in the Develop Module / Camera Calibration Panel? (ie Adobe Standard)  Shouldn't there be a whole series of profiles?
At the time, I had a photo open that was imported directly from a Pentax K-x in RAW (DNG) format, ie it was converted to DNG in camera. Does this even matter?
    Am I missing something?

Not all cameras have those specific profiles. Some cameras only have the
Adobe Standard. Your Pentax is one of them.

  • Two Selection for ACR 4.4 in Camera Calibration

    Hi,
I was using Lr 2.2 and everything was fine, but I upgraded to Lr 2.3 and now I have two selections for the ACR 4.4 profile on the Camera Calibration panel. The profile choices are:
    ACR 4.4
    ACR 4.4
    ACR 4.2
    Adobe Standard
    Camera Faithful
    And so on...
Both work, but I dont need two. I've done all the usual stuff like uninstalling, reinstalling, removing camera profiles and so on with no luck. Any ideas? Where does Adobe store the ACR profiles?
BTW, there is only one selection for ACR 4.4 in Adobe Camera Raw in Ps CS3, if that helps.
    Many thanks,
    Dave
WinXP Pro, Lr 2.3, Ps CS3

Thanks, but that's just it. The files have only been edited in Lr and not in Bridge or Ps, although I have those programs. I didn't have the problem in Lr 2.2 and it immediately appeared when I upgraded to Lr 2.3 without any changes to the images or to the Lr catalog.
I just tried removing Lr completly and deleting the existing catalog, and then re-installing Lr and creating a new catalog and importing my images into it. It still does the same thing - two copies of ACR 4.4.

  • Leica V-Lux 4 camera calibration

When could I expect the profile will be aded to the camera calibration panel ?

The Adobe Standard profile for this camera is already available and almost certainly the one already being used. Check to see the name of the profile set in Camera Calibration panel.
If you're hoping for Camera Standard or any of the other special profiles (e.g. portrai, landscape, etc) then I think you might be in for a long wait. Same applies if your expecting the profile to include the name of canmera vendor or model.

  • How do I get the Basic and camera calibration sub panels in the develop modual to come back after they go away on there own?

I was working on images and then when I picked a different image the basic and camera calibration sub panels disappeared. How do I get them back?

Right click on one of the other headers and a popup will appear and you can select the ones you need to view.

  • White Balance tool and Camera Calibration Profiles

Downloaded Lightroom v4 Beta 1 for mac but the installer package failed to launch. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.) So I've only watched the adobe tv presentations todate.
Anyway just wanted to give some feedback as a pro photographer about use of Lightroom and improvments I would like to see in the next version.
I am a commercial photographer who needs colour accuracy in photographing fashion/garment images - most of my work is reproduced on a printing press for catalogues and brochures. On average a shoot will yeild about 500 images for a client, so workflow is important as they normally want them all!
As a previous user of Capture One Pro v6 and now lightroom v3.6 - the biggest issue I have with Lightroom is the dominace of red tint when setting the white balance from a gray card reference image, shot at the same time as the images to be processed. I'm not adding anything to the images other than doing a white balance, a tweak on exposure and camera neutral setting on profiles.
To obtain a white balance setting I use the combination of an  Xrite white balance card and the Q-Card and the old fasioned Kodak Gray cards all mounted on the same surface. I've used spot and ambient light readings on the gray cards to measure exposure and I've used the Adobe DNG Profiler and the Xrite colour checker profiler with the large colour checker card as a reference, (I've made profiles for sunny days, cloudy days, dual illuminant etc etc) and I'm viewing my images on a colour calibrated apple monitor.
Not withstanding all of the above the best results I get out of Lightroom are using the camera profile neutral setting! Everthing else is just too red!! even though the images do look more punchy; for accuracy of actual colour I choose the camera neutral profile.
Well when I say best results, those for colour critical garment photography and skin tones, these results are similar to those obtained from capture one pro v6.
So for the Lightroom v4 I would like to see.
    1. White balance RGB values in numbers rather than percentages.
    2. Add and delete a colour readouts points with a dropper tool on an image to enable more acurate colour balancing particularly in shadow areas - (already available on capture one pro and adobe photoshop)
    3. Curves adjustments in all RGB channels (think you've done this)
    4. Output to CMYK profiles.
    5. Individual levels channel adjustment for RGB
    6. Ability re-organize my tools palette (add and remove) is per Capture One and Photoshop
    Regards

The legacy ACR X.x profiles are no more produced nor included for newer cameras (AFAIK, since ACR 5.1/LR 2.1). The Adobe Standard is the new default starting point for these.
While I am at it....are the Canon camera profiles I downloaded for the 1Ds MKII the same as for the 5D MKII or do I have to download different one...I suspect they are the same or Lightroom wouldn't offer them to me...is that correct?
The profiles are different for each camera model, even if they share the same name in the Calibration panel. If you can see them when developing 5DII files, it means the camera-specific profiles are installed for your particular camera model (otherwise, you wouldn't see them).

  • Probable bug: Camera Calibration

If I change the Camera Calibration setting from Adobe Standard to Camera Landscape (D3s) and then change back to Adobe Standard I don't get the same picture that I started with (in my case I see a red tinge in the highlights).  Reversing the change in history undoes the change OK.

    Another interesting fact:
When you restart the application after the double change, the red tint is gone. Even when reverting all changes in the history panel and then re-doing the double change, the color are ok for this photograph.
If I move to a new one, I see the red tint again.

  • Color artifacts with A7s and A6000 files using Camera calibration profiles

I'm seeing some really obvious chroma artifacts / false colors with RAW files from either a Sony A7s or A6000 when using any of the Adobe-provided Camera calibration profiles that emulate Sony's rendering.
This seems to happen at any ISO, and is very frequent.
If I use the Adobe Standard calibration profile then things look normal, but that's might just be because it produces rather desaturated images compared to the "sony" profiles.
Prior to those Sony cameras I was using Nikon DSLRs for which I had somewhat similar issues when using the first version of the Nikon camera profiles.
Those issues got fixed when Adobe released the "v4" camera profiles.
Below are some examples without any adjustment, the only difference is the choice of camera calibration profile:
    Camera Landscape:
    Adobe Standard:
    Camera Standard:

  • Camera Calibration Profiles do not show in Develop Module LR5 / Windows 7

I have selected three specific camera profiles (Nikon D300, Nikon D700 and Canon G12) and placed them into:
    c:\Users\{me}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\{Nikon D800}
I restarted Lightroom 5 and viewed a RAW photo (not jpg or tif).
But my Nikon D800 or the other two camera profiles do not show up in the Develop Module Camera Calibration drop down menu, nor in the Presets drop down in the Navigator panel.
    What am I doing wrong?

Yes (to a degree). You can build your own custom DNG camera profiles, that's a good first start. Then you could edit them using the free DNG Profile Editor from Adobe. I'd start with custom profiles for each camera and see if that produces an acceptable match among them.

  • Camera Calibration Profiles And 5D MKII

Until now I have been using a Canon 1Ds MKII and have had not only the downloaded Canon Camera Profiles available in the Calibration panel of the Develop Module but also the Adobe Standard, ACR 2.4, and ACR 4.4 profiles.  Recently I got a Canon 5D MKII and in Lightroom I only have available the Canon Camera Profiles and Adobe Standard.  The ACR 2.4 and 4.4 don't seem to be available as options with the 5D MKII RAW files.  I liked having them as they served as alternative rough starting points.  I am wondering what happened to them and how they can be gotten back as an option for the 5D MKII.  Has this happened to anyone else?
While I am at it....are the Canon camera profiles I downloaded for the 1Ds MKII the same as for the 5D MKII or do I have to download different one...I suspect they are the same or Lightroom wouldn't offer them to me...is that correct?
