Camera Card slot shows up as network sharepoint

I work in a mac environment, five computers running osx 10.5 throught 10.8. they all show one camera card slot on the HP 6500 as a bloody sharepoint! Is there any way to make this card plug stop broadcasting on the network short of ripping out the ethernet cord?
Guess which one is the camera card ...
anyhelp appreciated.

Sounds like an interesting issue, does this displaly constatnly or only when you put a card in the printer? Additionally, is there anything that this is doing which prevents you from using the features of this deviece?
Let me know!

  • Hard drive shows up as dig camera card

One of my external hard drives, no matter what I do (re-mount, restart, reboot, etc) shows up as a digital camera card instead of the normal hard drive.
The hard drive functions as normal outside of 1.5 but within Aperture it's treated as a digital camera card and I can't access my folders.
Anybody got any idea how I can get 1.5 to recognize the drive as a DRIVE and not think it's a card?

My guess would be that your drive's folder layout matches, in some way, the design rules for camera file systems, i.e. it has a DCIM folder and all the rest that makes it look like it is a camera storage card.

    Hi Ronald,
I'm sorry to hear that the pins in the memory card compartment of your Digital Rebel have been bent.
Because the service life for this camera has expired, Canon no longer offers service for it.  I'm sorry for the difficulty this causes.

    Hi Jessica,
No, the SD slot will not work, you need an ExpressCard/34 slot.
I do not know if it works with cameras, but with two or more HDs, if the first one has two FW ports, you can "daisy chain" one or more additional HDs from it.

  • Camera card slipped into CD slot

My wife was about to look at some pics on our Mac and she reached to put the camera card in the card reader but was a little off and it slipped into the CD slot. What can we do to get it out?  Service call from Apple or is there an easy way to get the iMac opened up and the memory card saved.  Please help!

  • Camera Card No Longer Shows Up :-(

Since upgrading?? to 10.5, one of my issues is that iPhoto '08 no longer automatically opens and is my camera card is NOT seen in the iPhoto window/left sleeve.
Have upgraded to 10.5.1 and to iPhoto 7.1.1 and still no improvement.
    All was perfect in 10.4.10
    Any help suggestions?

    Jack:
It is available but seems to be broken in your account. First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. See if that will fix it.
If it doesn't, log into another account on your Mac and try importing there. If you don't have an account then create one as it's a great troubleshooting tool. Don't add any 3rd party enhancements to the account and make it non-admin.
If the camera and iPhoto work in the other account there is something in your primary account that is the culprit. It could be some preference file, not iPhoto's. If that's the case here's a way to see if it is a bad preference file:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
(if you have problems moving files out of the Preferences folder post back as there is another way to get the job done)
If the camera and iPhoto don't work in the new account a reinstall of iPhoto seems warranted. Do to so delete the current application and all files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Users folder. Install iPhoto from the disk it came on and apply the latest update, 7.1.

  • My iphone having no sim card slot how can i change my network

sir my phone iphone 4 having no sim card slot my sister purchased it from america and took it to india bt i cant use sir  please tell me how can i use  my phone

Unless already activated, you won't be able to use it as a touch. If that's the case, you can look at it...use it as a paperweight...try & trade it for something of value...pawn it...send it back to your sister...well, you get the picture.

  • SD Card gets "wiped" by MacBook Pro's SD Card Slot.

Oddly enough, the first time I plug in an 8GB SDHC card into my MacBook, it reads perfectly fine.  I leave the card in there for a while (an hour or so) then I reopen the SD Card to move a few of the pictures I took over... But as soon as I do... I notice there is NOTHING inside the DCIM folder!!
I eject the card, put it back into my camera and it shows that I have no pictures taken!!
So I decide to do a test.  I take a picture, and then remove the SD Card and put it back into my MacBook Pro.  The picture this time shows!  Inside the DCIM folder there is a 101Canon folder with the picture inside it.  But only that picture.  As soon as I eject the card, remove and put it back into the MacBook Pro, the DCIM folder is empty yet again!  But I have done nothing!!!
I looked at the Finder's bottom for remaining disc space, and it says my SD Card has 4.xx GB available on an 8 GB card!  Figuring out that the files may have been hidden I used this command in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
This makes a few more folders pop out.  But all of which are empty!
I test again on the camera by taking a shot.  Camera says it can take 711 more pictures on my SDHC card, so I take one, which brings it down to 710, plug it into my computer, view the file in the computer, eject and reopen the SD card to make sure the file has "disappeared" before plugging it back into my camera.  It then says it can take another 710 pictures!!  This confirms that there is data stores on the SD Card, but cannot be seen!!  Why are my files disappearing?  Any ideas anyone?  I need help!
I've checked the forums, and it seems no one has come across the same problem I've had... As most people are more concerned with losing while moving their files or recovery.
    Thanks!

Yes, the card was erased.  It only had five or six photos, but I knew they were there as I had reviewed them in the camera.  When the card was inserted into the slot on the laptop, it imported nothing.  It was apparently erased upon insertion, since nothing was imported.  I then put the card back in the camera and it was empty.  Later I tried with a different card and it worked properly.  Fortuntely, they weren't important photos.  But, I won't trust that slot again.  I'll use my USB card reader which I know I can depend on.

  • SD Card not showing after Mountain Lion Update

SD Card not showing after Mountain lion Update
Since the update to Mountain Lion, the SD slot does not show up in Finder.
Someone gave a fix using the killall in Terminal, and that worked only once.  I have not been able to get that fix to work again.
The only saving grace for me is that my SD Card us is always from my Nikon camera, and Nikon ViewNX 2 software is able to see and read from the card.
Killall may have worked partially in that I no longer get the error message telling me that I have removed the SD card improperly, and need to dismount it first.
However, Finder still cannot see it.

Those are basics ... Been there, done that, first.
Then you should hava posted all the troubleshooting you already accomplished.
Does the card show up in System Information? Or is that another one of the "basics" you've already looked into?
Does it show up in Disk Utility? If so, have you tried formatting it there to determine if it is a formatting problem?

  • Built in SD Card Slot issues - Canon XSi

I have had a Canon Digital Rebel XSi for a few years now and it has always worked well with my macbook and iphoto. I recently upgraded to the Macbook Pro (early 2011) and was pretty excited about being able to leave the USB cable behind.
    Here's where it gets interesting:
When I pop the SD card out of my camera and put it into my macbook pro the SD card shows up on the desktop and in iphoto 2011, however it doesn't have anything on it except for the default folders that the camera creates. No photos.
I could also see that there was occupied space on the SD card, no files but used space
When I put my SD card back in the camera and got an error of "Cannot create folder" so I couldn't use it or see the photos anymore
I used a restore program to get all the photos I'd taken over the weekend trip off the card
Next I decided to reformat the SD card in the Canon XSi, I popped off a few pics and put the card back in the Macbook and I was able to import them
Cool it was fixed... well, actually I put it back in the camera after importing and "Cannot create folder" again! Again the card is useless
I updated the firmware on the XSi to the latest 1.1.0 version and tried it all again, but still the same results
There is a fix and it's simple enough. If I just continue to use the USB cable everything works normally. I will of course do this, but I'd love to use the new SD card slot and not corrupt my card. I'm curious if anyone else is having similar issues. I'm also concerned that when I grab photos from a friend's SD card that I'll break it, and that just aint cool.
Thanks to anyone who reads through this exciting post and offers any suggestions.

You could have a faulty slot, aluxious.
Have you tried inserting the card in the slot as quickly as possible, rather than gently, though. I've found a couple of mine at least don't mount if I insert them too slowly. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3553 seems to confirm the need for this).
Checked with various cards, and made sure the contacts on the cards are clean and undamaged, I guess?
    Cheers

  • TREO 650 SD Card Not Showing On Desktop

    Mac OSx 10.6.1
MIssing Sync 6.05b installed but showing as 6.0.4
    Treo 650
I have an 8 MG Panasonic SD Card installed in the slot. Syncing iPhoto to the Treo works fine.
It was my impression that the handheld SD card should show on the Desktop when the handlehld is connected by the USB cable. It is not. Disk Utility is unable to find the hanheld card either however if the card is inserted into my camera it is recognised.
Am i wrong to assume that the card should appear on the Desktop? Am I missing something?

Unfortunately the 650 cannot show the SD card on the desktop of your computer. This is also the same for Windows PC's. To move pictures to the SD card you can use quick install and drag and drop into the storage card part of the application. Then close it and on the next hotsync it will sync over to the device but place it in your SD card.

  • High Capacity storage using Express Card slot

    Hi guys,
I know this probably isn't the right forum but I couldn't find a more appropriate one.
I've got a MacBook Pro 2.16ghz Intel Core Duo and I need serious storage options!
I'm basically looking for high capacity RAID 5 storage to store/edit/capture onto. I edit mostly on SD but sometimes HDV (I own an HVR-Z1E). I've got a first edition MacBook Pro and so only have one firewire port which will be taken up when capturing by the camera.
I'm probably going to have to use the express card slot but haven't really thought about what card/wires yet. I'm wanting to spend under £1000 in total and would ideally like Raid 5 configuration to build some safety into my system (lost a project through a broken drive the other day). I'm hoping for a 2tb system or there abouts but am happy to go for less and keep plugging in more HDD later.
I was considering this la cie: http://www.lacie.com/uk/products/product.htm?pid=10850 but I'm very open to suggestion and at the moment am most concerned about data rate especially on capture. On RAID 5 is that a problem with this drive if I connected with USB2.0?
Sorry for the odd placement (I'd be happy to re-post in a more appropriate forum if that's useful).
    All the best,
    Dan

Alternatively you set up a gigabit network and use some NAS drives.... choices choices.
This stuff seems to have good reviews.

  • N81-3 RM223 without sd card slot?

    Hello,
my brother bought a Nokia N81 on ebay. Today, it arrived and ,while configurating it, we wanted to insert the micro sd (2Gb) that came with it. But there is no microSD-card slot at the side of the phone. I checked the internal memory to make sure it is not the 8Gb model, it is not the 8Gb model. We are wondering how this can be possible since the phone is new. Or did Nokia "just" put the wrong cover on it?
    Please help.

this is indeed a genuine N81 with the microSD expandability, and not the N81 8GB (which is RM-179). i updated the firmware on a friend's N81 last year, so from the photos it is indeed genuine. the product code also seems to match up.
as far as i remember, there must be a microSD card slot on the left margin of the phone. i certainly know that the memory card is hot-swappable, however even if i was completely wrong and there was a microSD slot under the battery, that wouldn't be hot-swappable. so it looks like your phone is a 8GB version according to the pictures you've posted, as there is no microSD card slot on the left side. if it was the 8GB version, it would have 7600MB or so available in the free memory screen.
i'm even confused myself, so my best advice would be to take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre and ask them about it. it definitely seems that you have a microSD model that seems like it is, but doesn't have the microSD card slot. actually, i just saw and the microSD card slot should be underneath the speaker on the left side of the phone. possibly someone ripped you off and ripped the 8gb memory out, slapped some stickers on to show its a 2gb model. that's all i can think of, no matter how absurd that sounds.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • X61s and slot for sim card slot

All X61 models have the moulding in the body shell for a SIM slot, but they don't all have a SIM reader or antennas installed, let alone a 3G card.
Your 7666-B4G config shows as this....
    L7700(1.8GHz), 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinVista Business
... so, IMO, its unlikely it is WWAN-ready at any level.
My 7676-3PM came in this config:
    T7100(1.8GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinVista Business
... and its very definitely not WWAN ready.

    I don't work for Lenovo

  • Hi, I have a Lenovo 3000 n100 that does not recognize the dvd player or SD memory card slot

Hi, this is my first time on here so forgive me if I don't give all of the right information, I will try.  Until about a month ago my dvd player and SD memory card slot worked fine.  I was attempting to download pictures from the SD memory card to my laptop when for some reason it not only stopped reading the memory card but it erased it also.  I tried to watch a movie on it to see if it was working and it is not.  I checked the computer to see if I could manually turn it on and neither the memory card slot or the dvd player show up at all.  Is this a driver problem and if so how do I fix it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Linda

I have struggled with the same thing, until about 1/2 hour ago....And its real simple.  I'm not a techy but here's what worked for me.
Since Lenovo doesn't send boot discs you are going to have to create one.  I went to http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm and downloaded the trial version - good for 10 days.  If this works for you then you should buy the software (that goes w/o saying).
Once loaded to your machine you will need to create a DVD (CD may work as well, all I had was DVD's handy).  Just lauch the application and it will do this for you.
Then you need to insert the DVD/CD into your player and restart the machine.
Once lauched the Software will lauch the Active@ Boot Disk menu.  One of the options (going from memory here) was to give you a windows prompt.  I simply typed c: and took me to the C drive.  Then I typed chkdsk /f c:
I was then told my c drive was locked (sounds familiar I bet) but this time I was given the option to dismount the volume which I did.  And it finally ran chkdsk, found and corrected all errors.
I rebooted my machine, launched diskeeper,  and guess what - I can finally defrag my harddrive now which is sorely overdue!
Good luck.  I hope this works for you!
