Camera - cartoon style ?

if you take a picture using your iphone 3g camera, if you take photo in a very dimply lit area does the dim area of the picture go pixelated and green almost like a cartoon effect ?

@mandurphy: If you haven't already done so, you might want to submit a formal feature request: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&loc=en
You're also welcome to post "Me too" in as many threads as you like, but doing that a hundred times will not get as much attention from the decision-makers in charge of the feature priorities as submitting a single genuine feature request.

  • Importing from camera into lightroom with camera picture styles in tact (camera neutral)

I use the Camera Neutral picture style on my Canon 5D mark ii when shooting landscape photogtraphy.  I would like my photos to remain Camera Neutral when I import them.  However, Lightroom always defaults the photos to Adobe Standard.  Is there any way to make this not happen?  I am fairly new to lightroom (used for 5 months) and would really appreciate the help as I am trying to import 16 gigs of Wallowa Mountain photogtraphy, and do not want to change each photo manualy.

If you always want Camera Neutral picture style to be applied, then open one of your images that you have imported and have changed nothing else in Lightroom.  Set the camera profile to Camera Neutral and save new camera default settings.  Then whenever you import that setting will be applied to all of your images.
If you don't always want that style, you could save a preset that applies the Camera Neutral picture style, and then you could choose to use that preset during the import process.
It is simply a matter of determining your workflow and then setting things the way you want them to work.

  • Matching Lightroom Develop Settings to In-Camera Picture Styles

For certain shoots it would suit me to have my pictures import and look like the embedded jpegs which are created using Canon's standard picture styes. Is there an easy way to create LR develop settings to match the popular Canon styles such as Standard, Portrait and Landscape so that I get approx the same amount of sharpness, contrast, colour balance. Perhaps someone has already done that and they've shared the Lightroom Presets.

Are you 100% sure the luminance noise reduction algorithm is tailored to each specific camera model, in Lightroom (and ACR)  I mean?
What I stated  is based on "visual" observations of raw files from three different Canon DSLR cameras inside LR and DPP. I am sure it varies from camera manufacturer and even camera model, with some models applying NR during demosaicing and others not. The Fuji X-Tran is a good example where Adobe initially had issues with the demosacing process, which affected image sharpness and noise levels. My guess is that this is done in two-steps:
    1) Initial demosaicing on Import into the Develop module where the 4-pixel cell  RG1BG2 raw data is converted into a "uniform" single pixel bit map with RGB values. This is the best possible place to analyze the image data for Color NR and demosaic interpolation to maximize sharpness and minimize "aliasing." How "well" this is done has a huge impact on the overall sharpness of the image. Hot pixel removal is done during demosaic processing for all camera models. Hot pixels can't be removed from JPEG and sRAW image files since they are already demosaic'd.
    2) Additional Color and Luminance NR and Capture Sharpening is performed inside the Develop module using the camera raw cache data. The Luminance NR "tailoring" I refer to is probably based on "reverse engineering" of the manufacturer's raw converter algorithms. The higher the ISO the larger the NR amount applied at any given setting. In order to provide somewhat "uniform" values it would have to be based on the ISO versus Noise performance of the specific camera model.  For example a 12Mp 1.6 crop sensor camera is not going to perform near as well as a 12 Mp full-frame camera of the same generation.
Attached below is my best effort in LR and DPP using a Canon 5D MKII 21Mp raw image shot with a 24mm TS-E II lens–The sharpest lens I've ever owned. It's pretty clear (pun) DPP pulls out more detail, but falls down in the tonal definition (i.e. shadow detail). The only thing this can be due to are differences in Canon's DPP demosaicing and LRs.
    1:1 (100%) View
    DPP Sharpening = 3 out of 10, LR Sharpening = 40, .8, 40, 0

  • Built-in "Camera RAW style" color correction for each clip in CS6

Camera RAW has the best sliders for image control. Super easy and ultra natural looking.
I mean if you want to fix White Balance with in-camera like precision or lift shadows or fix highlights Camera RAW is the quickest tool that produces amazing results.
I have compared Davinci Resolve, Phase One (Capture One), Adobe SpeedGrade and Color Finese. And the best "quick fix" results are archived in Camera RAW even with 8-bit TIFFs exported from Premiere's DSLR timeline.
The point is, why can't we add simple sliders for Temperature / Tint / Exposure / Contrast / Highlight / Shadows / Clarity  / Vibrance directly to Premiere's clip.
So the user will not waste time to export TIFFs to Camera RAW or DPX to SpeedGrade.
    Some more comments.
    1. Three Way Color Corrector contains too much submenus and often doesn't produces results wanted.
Wheel-type color mixers are more suitable for Secondary color correction in my opinion.
At first it nice to setup correct White Balance using sliders and only then make some sylish tuning with these wheels.
    2. It's a pity that Camera RAW exported sequences tend to flicker sometimes. I guess it's because of photo-like processing style. It adapts to every single image. Would be cool to have an option to disable this adapting feature, especially useful for timelapses. Have anyone encountered this problem with Camera RAW?
Maybe someone knows a plugin for Premiere and AE that has direct slider for Temperature and Tint?

  • How Can I Create Something In This Style?

HI guys, I am currently working on graphics for a mobile game I am making. I have some skill in vector, mostly through Inkscape, but I am trying to use Illustrator more. The thing is despite what program I use I can't figure out how to create something in the style I desire. I would like it to look something like this...
I can create the vector objects, like the saws, door, and chest pretty well, It is just the background and foreground in which I am lost. I notice they have a texture to them, with various colors, and almost a hand drawn look. Can this be accomplished in Illustrator, or will I need to use Photoshop? If so, how can I go about getting something similar to this. Are there any tutorials for work in this style, because I haven't been able to find any? Any information would be great. Even if their are any vector tutorials in this cartoon style, that would be nice too, since I can always improve. Thanks in advance!

There are many ways you can achieve this effect you just need to learn.
Here are some useful links for you to teach yourself some trick and effects:

  • How do I handle Style Groups in InDesign Scripting?

    Hi,
I am relatively new to InDesign scripting.
I'm trying to map Paragraph Styles to CSS, and it seemed to be working fine, till I came across Style Groups -
Styles belonging to a group are identified as - Root Style Group name : Child style group name : ...... : Style name
Because of this paragraph style  <Style name> was not mapping to the TOC style <Root Style Group name : Child style group name : ...... : Style name> and my TOC styles were not correctly mapping.
I wrote a fix for this in my app, by fetching parent groups and appending to a string - which i check in the TOC style entries.
Before calling this a FIX, I need to confirm if there are any more hierarchies/represnetations that could be used to represent a Paragraph Style as a TOC style? I don't want to see that a week later I discover something like <Style : Nested paragraph style> as a TOC style and then I'd have to fix my fix!
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If YourPara is a paragraph style in myDoc and defined inside group of styles named myStGroup
you can refer to it using:
    myDoc.paragraphStyleGroups.item("myStGroup").paragraphStyles.item("YourPara");

  • Love Lightroom Camera Profiles. Could we get more?

Loving the Camera Profiles for Sony cameras in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw. Would it be possible to add them for Sony A900, A850 and A700 in the next Lightroom and ACR updates? Thank you!

    Brian Smith Photo wrote:
Many Sony users have asked why Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw doesn't read Sony Creative Styles embedded in RAW - thwse camera profiles offer a very nice response to that question.
ACR and LR don't support this capability with any camera model, and it's not likely to be added in the future. What Adobe has done is provide "emulations" of the "Camera" picture styles for some camera makes and models, which can be manually selected and applied. You can do a search here and at Photoshop Family Customer Community for posts on camera picture styles and add your vote, or even add a new request.
The OEM's picture style "recipes" are designed to work specifically with the their raw converter and not ACR/LR. The Adobe Standard camera profile and ACR/LR Develop default settings are designed to make camera raw images look nearly identical regardless of camera make or model (i.e. "Standard").
    Brian Smith Photo wrote:
Those are someone's custom profiles which are fine but they are not the Sony Creative Style profiles. The screenshot above shows Lightroom profiles for A7-series cameras.
What I read at that site:
I've photographed, under the direct sunlight, a 24 color GretagMacbeth / X-Rite table, then, after converting the RAW to DNG, I've created the standard color profiles with Adobe DNG Profile Editor. Starting from the standard profile and using as reference the "non standard" Nikon, Canon and Leica's profiles, I've created the creative profiles.
Based on the procedure he used these camera profiles may as good or better than Adobe's. They are both emulations created using the Adobe DNG Profile Editor. I can also tell you that neither profile (Adobe's or his) will perfectly "match" the picture style of an in-camera JPEG or raw file processed with the OEMs raw converter. It may be close....but no cigar! I use a ColorChecker PassPort created profile with all my Canon DSLRs, which I find is a better "starting point" than Adobe Standard–YMMV. I also rarely if ever use the "Camera" profiles, which usually require using different Basic panel settings. The one exception is 'Camera Faithful,' which I sometimes use for revealing fine tonal and color gradations (i.e. flowers).

  • Camera Calibration for Sony A500

When I go into the camera calibration for shots taken with my Sony A500, the *only* thing that appears in the profile drop-down is "Adobe Standard".  Does that mean that there isn't a profile available for the A500?

" the fact that there aren't other profiles simply means that Adobe has not created other profiles that simulate in-camera rendering styles for your camera model."
So can anyone confirm that these in-camera rendering styles / profiles are not available for the A500?
And in general, if you haven't bought a Canon or Nikon, should you just expect that LR doesn't love you as much?

  • Canon's picture style to DNG profile?

    Hi,
Is there a way to get the "color map" in a Canon's picture style and use it to build a DNG profile, maybe via the DNG Profile Editor or ColorChecker Passport?
    Thanks,
    Juan

    [email protected] wrote:
I do not see any information regarding how to extract color transformations from Canon Picture Style files, so as to be able to move this info into a DNG profile. Maybe I  missed something?
I often see comments where people want Lightroom processing to be brought to simulate particular in-camera processing, but I always find it hard to understand the thinking there. The way that the camera, and that Lightroom, converts Raw data into a picture are Just Different [as different as a piano and a violin playing the same piece of music] and using each one single-mindedly to its own strengths and in its own way, by results, seems to me 100% fine and appropriate.
The DNG profile is an Adobe feature, and modifies the action of Adobe adjustments and processing. A Picture Style is a Canon feature, and modifies the action of Canon image processing. The controls and functions and outcome of one should never be expected to map 1:1 exactly onto those of the other... not least because some of this is proprietary / patented, or difficult or expensive to reverse engineer. Most importantly: even if it were possible, writing code to simulate the actual processing of a particular camera is AFAIK an unrealistically disruptive task to implement into the existing software. And Lightroom supports dozens of camera models.
[There are certain stylistic things you can do on a violin that mimic some particular ways of playing a piano, and vice versa. But the scope of this mimicry is restricted by the specifics of playing each instrument, so one needs to use one's head and imagination. There is no sustain pedal on a violin - there is no vibrato on a piano. And that is as it should be. It is how you play whatever instrument you are using, in relation to the piece of music, that matters.]
I don't mean to sound negative about your question, but more to encourage you to look beyond the options that the camera happens to provide. More positively, Lightroom gives rich controls over colour including
Basic panel - White Balance temp and tint, saturation and vibrance
selecting a DNG profile (as generated programmatically, and/or as tweaked in the DNG Profile Editor)
Tone Curve - there is an RGB point curve option
Hue Saturation and Luminance panel - hue shift, lum and sat for 8 hue sectors
    Process Version
Camera Calibration panel manual sliders - shadow tint, separate RGB primary hue and sat
The DNG Profile Editor and the Camera Calibration panel seem to offer the best chance of achieving a given hue response look across many images. The HSL panel is probably more suitable for individualising a given picture. Also a camera capable of shooting DNG natively may include an "Embedded" colour profile saved in each file, which encapsulates the camera's own hue response information in some respects.
Quite often a particular camera image style includes contrastiness and tone curve aspects besides hue response - which for Lightroom, will involve some other controls as well as the ones mentioned above. That can all be wrapped up in a one-click Develop preset - or even, modified LR processing defaults - for ease of application in the future.

  • Cell border frustration

Apologies in advance for the slightly ranty nature of this post.
I am not new to this stuff but occasionally it seems I'm either missing something obvious or there are flaws in the RH GUI.
Either way I have just wasted a load of time on something that should have taken 30 seconds to do...
I am trying to do a quick table borders tidy-up in RH10.
As things were getting confusing, I decidede to start with a clean slate and remove all borders.
But there are some that stubbornly refuse to go.
I can see the code for them in the html, but nowhere in the Design Mode GUI. Grrr.
I really don't want to have to resort to html hacking every time this happens.
    Here is an example:
    Design Mode
    Preview Mode
It's the grey and black borders that I'm trying to remove.
NB weird how the first 2 cells have a black border in Preview, but grey in Design mode - not WYSIWYG then?
I won't post all the html for the table, so here's just one cell:
    <td style="border-top-width: 4px; border-top-style: Solid;"><img
                         src="ICON-PlaneEdges.jpg" alt="" style="border: none;" width="22"
                         height="33" border="0" /></td>
You can see a border style has been set, but everywhere I look in the GUI I see no reference to this (even under Table/Style).
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
My only current solution is to create a new table and move the contents across.
    Bit ridiculous though...
    Thanks very much in advance.
    Cheers,
    Andy

    Hi Peter,
    Many thanks for replying again.
    >> That code does not look like a table created using one of the supplied CSS tables or a CSS table you have created in Rh.
    It was created in RH.
I don't like using the styles though because I have no faith in the results that I get.
So I manually format up a table in the way that I like (nice, clean and simple), and then cut and paste every where I need to use it.
I appreciate this is a tad agricultural and not the way of the RH Svengali, but as I say I have had too many scares with RH styles in the past to bother with them.
So in this case, I have absolutely no idea where this html coding came from:
    style="border-top-width: 4px; border-top-style: Solid;"
    >> Right click in the table and select Table Style
    Had no impact.
Anyway, this time I have (yet again) elected to stop wasting time trying to fathom another idiosyncray of RH, and I just recreated an empty table from scratch.
Rather frustrating for the inner geek in me, but c'est la vie.
    Cheers,
    Andy

  • Inserting image to a html file

Hey guys, its been awhile since i worked with codes and i now need to ad an image to my home page where i left a space just for it. I know the image code but it doesn´t seem to be working i think i am placing it in the wrong place. Can someone help me out please ? If needs to i can send the html file (home.html) and the screenshot of my page.
    Thank you guys

This is the code from your posted link.  I copied View > Source from FF and pasted into NoteTab....  Removed white spaces and copy Ctrl+C & pasted Ctrl+V here using >> Syntax highlighting > Plain.
Unfortunately, this is only the bloated HTML.  It doesn't include styles from your 9 external CSS files!
So where are you trying to insert an image???

  • Photo Booth-Annotating Photos in Preview

I like the Photo Booth feature on my new MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and like the ability to edit photos in Preview. The other day, getting familiar with these features, I found a popup menu with options to add captions to pictures in cartoon style speech or thought "bubbles" -- neat for adding text to pictures to make greeting cards, etc.
Now, I can't find where this option is -- should have made a note, but have hunted all over the options and Help menu in Preview -- and can't locate it.
Does anyone know how to access this handy feature?
    Thanks -- Sue

  • Slight Color and Quality Shift when viewing RAW files for first time in Library Module.

    Hello,
I have been shooting RAW for a while and have notice that after I import the images and then start to view them in the Library Module I will see a slight color and quality shift - almost looks like a white balance shift but not quite.   I was thinking that perhaps there was some automatic preset being applied but I don't have any presets at all.
I am shooting with a Canon 1DX as well as 7D.  I have not checked to see if I get this situation with the 7D, but I know for sure that I get it with the 1DX.
Today I was reviewing some images in Bridge and decided to open one of them in Camera RAW.   At that time I discovered that the camera's Image Style Settings were available, Faithful, Standard, Portrait, etc.  I noticed that the images did not have one of the camera styles applied to them but rather the Adobe Standard Style. At that point from within RAW I selected one of the camera's styles and bingo thats the kind of shift I am seeing when I first view an image in LR4 Library.
So as far as I can tell the RAW images are getting the Adobe Standard style applied in LR.   I have no idea if this is a default behavior of if I have done something to cause it.  I'm also thinking that perhaps LR does not necessarily apply the Camera's Styles automatically even though the particular style has been set in the camera -- perhaps is not imported as part of the metadata during the import and thus defaults to the Adobe Standard.
I guess what I need to know is a few things and I hope someone can educate this newbie!
    1. Should I expect LR4 to apply the Style as set from the camera automatically or not at all?
    2. Can I prevent LR from applying the Adobe Standard Style and apply no style?
    3. Can I cause LR to apply the Style as set in the camera for the particular image to be appied automatically upon import?
Thank you for any guidenace you can offer.  Of course if you need additional information or clarification please let me know.
    Scott

That sort of describes it and may be exactly what is happening.  I have a shoot tonight and will pay closer attention to the process and behavior when I import.
It is the full image that I see the shift on though.  Its not that the thumbnail and the full size image look different.  It the full size image looking one way and then shifting in front of my eyes.
What is frustrating is that I typically find that the image before the shift is better than what appears after the shift, so I find myself always chasing to get back to where it was and because its gone I'm chasing an invisible ideal, so to speak.   Ahhh...isnt that the life of a photographer though!
It seems like its the last step in the render process -- if I could just figure out what it is and stop it I could finally figure out if I really care or not.  Its just so quick its tough to tell if indeed the first appearance is better.
I'll feedback some more information when I get a better handle on this.
    Thanks for the reference.

  • How can I remove KitKat and revert to Jellybean?

Over last weekend I finally did the update to KitKat on my Razr M.  Since the update my phone has been almost unusable.  Before the update I was almost never off the 4G network. All this week at both work and home my phone rarely trains up with the 4G network signal any longer. More than not it is only showing 3G. In fact there are extended periods of time where there is 1X showing or no data at all.  That is the biggest complaint.
Second, the update completely nullified several apps that I had installed. The most of which that I lament losing is the original AOSP browser, While it was an updated version and a download from the google play store it worked far better for me than Chrome.  I use chrome on my computer all the time but the mobile version does not work for me at all. For this reason I located the original (what used to be the default browser on any android device) browser. As soon as the update took effect most of the additional browsers available stopped working. I can not use the mobile chrome as the functionality doesn't work for me.  So my browsing is down to almost nil.
Third.  The look and feel of the device is not to my liking.  This is all about personal choice, but the lack of option to set the background color or any color choice in any of the menus, Status bar, just about anywhere is frustrating.  I miss having the dark backgrounds and the blue status icons.  Again this is personal preference but it is important.  The dull white icons are just not pleasing to the eye.  And the overly cartoon style menus and dial pad looks awful to me.   I prefer the simple menu that was in Jellybean.
This update has rendered my phone almost useless compared to previous function.  Short of rooting the device and returning to Jellybean manually I need options here. Without the data abilities on the phone running at full I am limited on being able to use the phone for work or personal.
    "Throw me a freaking bone."

An update should only improve your device senslessj. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties. We can definitely troubleshoot the signal strength concerns. I'm sorry you don't like the look of the latest OS. Our control is limited as this is implemented by the OS developer and the equipment manufacturer. You mentioned home and work locations. What zip codes are these? How is the service outdoors?
