Camera Connection Kit: Some photo wont transfer

I took a couple test shots with my DSLR thats shooting in RAW. Some of the photos transferred over just fine, but some did not. No settings on the camera were changed between the shots. Everything is just fine. But when you go into "Photos" some of them cant be viewed and just say RAW on them. I cant also figure out how to remove them either. Any thoughts?

What is the file name? Others have said it has to be six characters and be like how a camera would name them. Some other have said that somehow the iPad cold tell if picture have been modified and would not import modified photos

Importing photos to my ipad 2 on iOS 4.3.2 using camera connection kit causes photo app to crash. Tried importing photo from an iPhone 4/ Panasonic DMC-FX50 via USB and SD card but without success. However, importing video from a Flip Mino HD is ok. Can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong

Have you tried a reset by holding the power and home buttons for ten seconds until the apple appears?
Since it's multiple different import devices not working with the CCK, it appears to be on the iPad side...
If the reset doesn't help, try a restore from within iTunes on the computer.

  • TS3989 I do not see any photos copied to iPad using iPad camera connection kit before PhotoS Stream and iCloud were enabled.

I had no problem importing photos to my iPad using the iPad camera connection kit, but now that they are there, I can not get them back off of my iPad.  I have set up an iCloud account and enabled Photo Stream on my iPad, downloaded and installed the iCLoud control pannel for Windows, enabled Photo Stream there, and set the download and upload folders.  In my "Photos" on iPad I curently have 3 albums: Camera Roll, All Imported, and a sigle folder with some of the photos included in the "All Imported" folder.  If I select Photo Stream, there are no photos present, and the note at the bottom explains that it uploads and stores the last 30 days of photos on iCloud and downloads them to all my devides... except.. I just enabled iCloud, and the pix were imported 6 months ago.  I really see no logical way of getting them back off this device.  Can anyone help highlight what I have overlooked?  Thanks.  -njw

  • Camera connection kit and photo stream

As many people nowadays, I don't carry a digital camera with me all the time, and most of my casual photographs are taken with my cellphone, which happens to be an iphone 4.
Since the introduction of photo stream, the process of organizing the digital photos taken with the phone, has ended being a hassle, since all photos automatically are imported to iphoto. But now, I would like to switch to another mobile platform, and obviously, I will be giving up this benefits.
I do have a 3rd gen ipad (so I won't be missing iOS), and my question is if the camera connection kit can be use to accomplish what with the iphone is done automatically. I mean, can i do the following steps?
    1) Continue taking all the casual photographs with the new cellphone, regardless of it's mobile platform,
    2) Connect the phone to the ipad via the camera connection kit,
    3) Import to the ipad all the photographs taken,
    4) Photo stream with it's magic, will automatically import those photographs to iphoto,
    5) Continue (somehow) enjoying the benefits of automatical photo organization.
I assume that the answer is affirmative, but I would like that someone that already has the camera connection kit help me, before i go out and make the purchase.
    Thanks!

The CCK recognizes most cameras and card readers, but the only way to know if it will recognize a cellphone is to try it out.  It all depends on how a handshake (or whatever it's called nowadays) is negotiated.  I guess it would work most of the time, but it may vary depending on the model.

  • Camera connection kit import photo limit of 16GB fixed?

Last fall there was a discussion of a limitation of 16GB on photos in the iPad.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12297747
I haven't been able to find out whether this was resolved with an iOS 4.x update or the problem persists. This might not be a limitation of the camera connector kit itself, but rather the photos app, either for total number or data size of photos, but regardless this is critical for me.
I was planning on a 64GB iPad 2 with the idea of being able to backup two cameras for at least 6 weeks of travel, which will easily go over the 16GB with raw imports and possibly with JPG imports as well.
My alternative would be a MacBook Air, but that's at least an extra pound and obviously has a different usability and cost profile.

I am also very interested in the answer to this question. Does the iPad 2 remove the iPad 1 photo limitations?
I have a 64GB iPad 2 on order, but I want to know if I can use the camera connection kit to backup a 32GB SDHC card filled with jpeg images on it from a point and shoot camera. Will the software and hardware be able to handle moving around 40-50GB of images to the platform, browse them on the iPad, and then ultimately move them from the iPad to my primary machine back home? If it works - great! If it crashes and doesn't work due to the volume and size of photos (14 mega pixel), I would like to know now so I can figure out a work-around storage solution.
Has anyone tried this with their iPad 2 yet??
    Thanks in advance!

  • Camera Connection Kit "Using Too Much Power" Error

I'm trying to connect my iPhone 6 to my iPad Air 2 using the Apple USB Camera Connection Kit so I can transfer some video files.  I get an error that says "Accessory Unavailable - The Attached Accessory Uses Too Much Power".  Both devices are running the latest version of iOS.  I've tried hard reboots on both and no change.  This used to work fine with my iPad 2.  Is my camera connection kit defective?

My camera just started doing this on my MBP too! I have no idea what to do

  • I have an ipad that has photos on it, and am trying to get those photos to an SDHC card. I put the card in my camera connection kit device and went to the slideshow option and selected copy and nothing happened. Am I using the wrong method?

I am trying to get photos from a friends i pad to mine so that I can make a slide show for him. I tried using my i pad camera connection kit with a SDHC card in it and followed the instructions in the manual. I got to the part where it had me select COPY from the drop down menu. When I did that nothing happened. Can this be done at all?

only option is to download an app for bluetooth transfer which may be quite slow, checkout 'Bump' or search for photo transfer or similar.

  • Does the camera connection kit rename imported photos?

If I use the camera connection kit to transfer photos from the SD card used in my Sony RX-100 camera, will the photos, whose names always begin with "DSC_", be renamed according to the iOS covention "IMG_"?
This renaming *does* occur when I transfer photos to my iOS devices using Eye-Fi cards.

You can also use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • HT4101 Lost all Photos while Using Camera Connection Kit to Nikon D70 -HELP!

After using with my Nikon D70, the photos are not on my camera - says now incompatible file format.  And they cannot be seen on iPad. on iPad there is a gray box that says 'jpeg' in it.  Where are my photos?  Can I get them back?

You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.
There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:
Expand your iPad's storage capacity with HyperDrive

  • I can transfer pictures from my SD card when I don't have transfert it to my pc first. But why can't I transfer from pc via SD? I'm using Apple camera connection kit.

If you are adding the photos yourself, then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it with filenames exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus their file extension i.e. in the same format as if your digital camera had written them.
