Camera connection kit - useless delay Again

Well, the camera connection kit said 2-3 weeks ship 4 weeks ago, now it says 3-4 weeks, looks like I will be returning 5 of my brand new factory sealed iPads since apple can't seem to get it together, and when the few do come into a retail location, the employees buy them up and resell them.

You know that the projection isn't an estimate of when they'll be readily available but an estimate of when you will receive yours if you order now. You don't have to wait for it to get to zero to order.
In other words... If you would have ordered 4 weeks ago you would have them already.

    Hi,
My iPad and the camera connection kit is completely useless to me, ever since the update where Apple restricted the device from connecting to certain external devices. I've tried everything, but is there any way I can get rid of this annoying problem? The bottom line is that I'll stay away from apple, because they basically make it so the devices control you, and you don't control the devices. I've even jail broken to try and fix this. I need my USB drives to work as they have many folders. Formatting doesn't work, so it is definetly down to the software and it's restrictions.
    Please help.

The camera connection kit is to be used to connect a camera or an SD card and transfer photos/video. You can't fault them for something that happened to work and doesn't any longer. There are drives like the seagate available if you need access to extra storage

See this article: iPad: Using the iPad Camera Connection Kit
No, this canot be done, afaik. When your camera or card is connected, you will see the thumbnails in the camera pane, but not full size preview. So to browse your photos on the iPad you will need to import them to your camera roll. But you need not delete them from the camera or card after importing, so you might simply import selected photos to your camera roll from the camera grid and then delete them again from the camera roll after importing and browsing, without removing them from the card/camera.

  • Camera Connection Kit Weirdness

When I plug my Camera Connection Kit into my iPad 1, with nothing in it or connected to it, I get the error message "Cannot Use Device. The connected USB device requires too much power."
Again, this is with no SD Card inserted, or USB connection used. Just the white Kit dongle, plugged into the device, leads to that error message.
    It USED to work.
This error message does not occur when the switch on the back is on the USB side, only when it's on the "SD" side. But then again, I want to use it with SD cards, so that's the only side that matters.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

same issue myself. Had a cheap usb and sd card connector kit off eBay and it worked fine. Since updating to iOS 7.1.2, it didn't work. Took a trip to the apple store today and bought a genuine lightning  apple sd card reader. Tried it in the apple store on one of their iPads, with my sd card and had the same issue.
upon connecting and inserting sd card (sandisk 32gb extreme) brings up the import screen, you see some blank tiles, then after about 40 seconds, the import screen disappears. Discussed it with apple store rep and he offered to replace the cable, I did, same issue. It HAS to be a firmware issue, as it was working fine prior to the update On the cheaper, non genuine attachment.
ive rebooted, refreshed, even started iPhoto first, still have same issue. Why oh why do Apple mess with stuff when it works fine in the first place?
any advice or tips, please drop me a line

  • Camera connect kit

Camera connect kit will not show video on iPad running iOS 4, it just shows a file with AVI. The wifes iPad which has not yet been updated to run iOS 4. Will run the videos no problem anyone help please?

I understand the above replies but how come the camera kit works with the wife's iPad and not mine all it shows is a picture of a file with AVI printed on the icon, I have done nothing different loading onto my iPad than I did with the wife's. I tried to load mine first and it did not work then tried the other and it was fine. I have tried removing the files and trying again still to no avail. The iPad has 60% of the memory available. Any other ideas?

  • What cameras  are compatible with the camera connection kit

what cameras are compatible with the camera connection kit and ipad2

I also recently bought the camera kit and found that it worked fine as long as you don't format the SD card using PC. Once I re-formatted using my camera I could once again upload my photos. that was until I switched formats to Adobe RAW, it seemed unable to upload again. So I switched to S RAW and that worked fine. Sometimes my kit won't upload photos but I find that by just re-inserting the card it works fine.
Haven't tried video yet, but I recently learned that the devices are quit sensitive to the "Format"(that needs to be FAT32, or exFAT- but in this instance it needs to be formatted by a Mac).
    Good luck

  • Camera Connection Kit with a SanDisk CF card reader not working in iOS4

Camera Connection Kit with a SanDisk CF card reader worked great before switch to 4.2.1. Now I get a message:"The connected USB device requires too much power". Again, worked great in OS3. What did Apple change? Same circumstances. The CCK works with the SD card reader, so it is working. Anyone running into this problem? Any answers? I have to use CF cards. As do many people with DSLRs.

I would be very happy for Apple to make a Compact Flash card reader just like the SD connection. Its something I would purchase immediately. Sadly Apple is yet to realise that not everbody uses crappy little point and shoot or entry level DSLR cameras and those that have the high end gear are those who woulld actually use the iPad in the real world for a travelling "light-box".
BTW does Apple ever look at this forum? or is it just a place that they specifically ignore when it comes to faulty programming or products?

  • Camera connection kit not seating all the way

I put my SD Card reader (part of the Camera Connection Kit) in my iPad 2 and nothing happens. I rebooted and everything. Just a bit ago I tried again and this time pushed as hard as I could on the back of the Reader to get it deeper in the iPad connection. Well, the pics popped up, but lost them again as soon as I took pressure off. The Reader has a flat surface, minus the prong, and the iPad 2 has a slope near the connection hole so basically it's not a great fit and the prong doesn't go deep enough to be recognized without ALOT of pressure. Any ideas on this? Are they coming out with a Reader that fits better? Thanks

You're right about the angle in sliding the SD connector into the iPad.  Assuming you're not trying to slip it in with a case inclosing the iPad and you've pushed it in as hard as it will go, either you have a bad SD connecter or there is something wrong with the slot on the iPad.  However, IF you can charge the iPad through the same slot, it would almost have to be the SD card connector.
You're not trying to use some aftermarket card connector  by any chance?  On other Apple devices I've seen some of these that are "just not quite right".  I've seen SD card connectors for the iPad on eBay for around $5 or so. I've been thinking of buying one as a backup to my genuine Apple connector (priced at $29).

  • Camera connection kit - Write to card?

Would the following work with an iPad and the Camera Connection kit?
    1. Connect an SD Card or Compact flash card with RAW files from a camera.
    2. Import all the images from the card to the iPad.
    3. Delete bad images on the iPad.
    4. Export the remaining (good) images as backup to another SD Card or Compact Flash card, in case the iPad gets lost?
    5. Three weeks later when you get back home, transfer all the good files to a desktop for normal processing.

It remains to be completely clarified exactly what can be done, but after import you can delete photos - not that that's a great idea - on the card.
That means that some "write" are allowed - that is write to the file system structures to delete the photos.
Is this a privilege available only to the Photo App??
I don;t think that general writing is allowed. In part becasue it balks at a thumb drive - not supported. (Though I haven't yet tried to make a thumb drive look like - i.e. have same directory structure as a SD/CF card.)
I expect to look into this from a programming point of view, but not for a while - got shooting gigs to do first.
Photography isn't why I got an iPad, but it would eb neat if it could replace the Mac Book I use in the field.
For me writing back to an external drive is important for backup.
When in the field with my MacBook I:
Upload the images, delete obvious duds, rename them and add metadata.
Then back up to 2 external drives.
Put CF cards back in Camera and format and start shooting again.

  • Why does my camera connection kit not work with my ipad 1 after updating on ios 5?

Why does my camera connection kit not work with my ipad 1 after updating on ios 5? What can I do to make it work again?

It should. It will only respond if there's something on the card for it to respond to, so do you have pics on the card?
And if it's messing up; try giving the iPad a restart. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see hte red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. That can clear up any glitches on the device itself.

  • HT4236 Have ipad2 & iPad camera connection kit - still doesn't download photos on SD card

Plugged in SD card from camera to a newly purchased ipad2 via the new iPad camera connection kit and it will not download these photos. Tried the same on a friends ipad2 and it works fine. Do I need to download a new app or just update the photo booth that I already have?

It doesn't go into photobooth. WHen you plug in the CCK and SD card it should open the photos app all on its own, open the card and then there'll be the select dialogue where you tap on the photos you want to import.
Try resetting your iPad. Hold down the home and sleep keys, past when you see the red slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
Since it works on another ipad, you know there's photos on the card and they're formatted right, along with the CCK working, so the issue must be your iPad. Sometimes there's a glitch and resetting helps that.

  • HT4101 My camera connection kit no longer works

Nothing happens when I connect my camera connection kit with SD card into iPad 3 port.  Last time I used it...several months ago... it worked OK, but now, something's not clicking.  It doesn't seem to sit in securely...that is, it sort of sags with its own weight. If I hold level and firmly, still nothing happens.  I reluctant to force it in too much for fear of damaging iPad's pins.  Anyone else have this problem?  It seems wrong that the connection kit failed after just one trip (about 10 imports).

The only thing you could also try is backup the iPad, restoring it as new and try again to connect it, just to make sure the issue isn't at the iPad.
You could use this article for this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Since the iPad doesn't have charging issues though, I don't expect this to have any effect,  but you could try it.

  • Why did my camera connection kit stop working after updating to iOS 6.0.1?

Camera connection kit stopped working on ios6.01 updated phone. Same camera kit works on the iPhone that I did not update. Why does it not work with 6.0.1?

The same story. No 3G after updating to 6.1.  Told my daughter temporarily not to do an update on her iPad with 6.01. We've exchanged SIMs. I inserted her SIM in my iPad - 3G appeared immediately. And my SIM in her iPad with ios 6.01 also WORKS FINE. We use the same provider - Megafon Moscow. After attempting to revert SIMs to original configuration, 3G disappeared on my iPad again. Don't know what's going on with SIM during the update to 6.1

  • IPad camera connection kit compatibility with SD cards

    Hi there,
I am really hoping that someone can help me out, I am going mad!
I am gong on holiday for 5 weeks and want to be able to get photos from my camera to iPad while away.
So I bought the Apple iPad camera connection kit. There was nothing that mentioned that it is not compatible with certain SD cards, so it seemed ideal.
I don't have a fancy camera, just a simple Sony Cybeshot, the card I have is 'SanDisk memory stick pro duo 2 gb magic gate'. The card is slightly smaller than the slot on the apple card reader but seems to fit into it fairly well. However, when I plug it in nothing happens, not even an error message- this lead me to believe that it was a fault with the equipment...or am I wrong- could it be that the card is not compatible??
I have tried everything, changing the format on the card via the camera, taking cover off iPad to ensure connection is solid and turning iPad on and off again.
The other thing is that my camera does not seem to have anything to attach a USB cable to.
PLEASE help me, before iPad AND connector go out of the window!!
    Spec-
    iPad 2 64 GB
SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo 2GB magicGate
    Camera Sony Cybershot
    Version 4.3.5 (8L1)
    Thank you

An SD card is a Secure Digital type memory card.  SD stands for Secure Digital, not Sandisk. A memory stick pro duo 2 gb magic gate
is a Memory Stick Pro duo type of card.
They are different types of cards. the Camera connection kits only works with the Secure Digital type.
