Camera connector, nikon 3200, 0 pictures

I have a fifth generation video ipod, 30 GB, software version 1.1.2 and tried syncing pictures from my Nikon 3200 using the camera connector. It has worked fine for two imports of a few (50) pictures but on the third import, it seemed to stop during the import (full battery) and disconnect the camera. Since this has happened, I cannot see any of the previously imported photos and cannot import new ones at all. When I connect the camera, it will show 0 pictures in 0kb and trying to "Import" tells me that "an error occured". I have tried to remove the foto folder (103APPLE or 103IPOD or so) from the ipod, I still cannot see any of the picture scrolls that are still there. Any idea what I could do? If resetting the ipod would mean I lose all pictures and music then I couldnt do that now as I am on vacation already... any other ideas what I could try to "reset" the photo import?

Your pictures might be "on the ipod" but not "there" in the sense that you do not see them under "Photos"; at least it was like that for me. What I did was connect the ipod to my computer, use it as harddisk and copy the "DCIM" folder contents to my harddisk - that way I got all the pics that are there. Then I deleted the DCIM folder and reset the ipod, which is like rebooting it; that seemed to help. I could play music again and with the camera on "PTP", the photo import worked as well - this time I just jogged the clickwheel from time to time, I wonder if this made any difference with the energy-saving or so? After the import of 127 pictures, the pics were on the ipod but not shown under "Photos"... again I connected the ipod to a PC, copied the pics (not deleted them) and after disconnecting the ipod, the pics were suddenly there as "Roll 1"... shrug fsck knows why.
So, deleting the seemingly broken DCIM folder and "rebooting" the ipod seemed to do the trick for me, your mileage may vary... good luck!
hm all together I am a little disappointed by the not-dependable performance of the camera connector even my camera is "supported", I have the newest firmware for ipod and camera. No idea why sometimes the pictures just imported do not show up...

  • IPod Camera Connector for the iPod Touch

I have an iPod Camera Connector for a previous model of iPod. Now that I have an iPod Touch, when I try to use it I get an error message that states this device is not supported. Has iPod created a Camera Connector to upload pictures from a card larger than a 512mg card (ie a 2+ GB card or larger) that is supported by the iPod touch?
    Thanks,
    Denice

I don't believe so, as the iPod touch doesn't support "disk use" (it doesn't mount as a hard drive on your computer).

  • Camera Connector doesn't work with Nikon DSLR?

I just got the camera connector, and when I connect it to my Nikon D5200 to directly download photos to my iPhone 5, it tells me my Nikon isn't supported.  If it's just reading an SD card, I don't see how this should be an issue.  Am I just missing the right software?  Is it different if I use an iPad instead?
We're travelling in a few days, and I was hoping to just bring my camera and phone and not have to cart a laptop around to upload photos to the web.
    Many thanks!

The camera connector is not for the iphone at all.
    It is for the ipad.

  • Using a camera connector how do i get pictures off computer and onto the iPad please.

I need to get pictures from a compter to my ipad. i have a camera connector kit but it does not seem to support a USB stick.. Ideas please, Thanks.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Using IPOD 5g and camera connector with Nikon D70 raw

    Hi,
I take pictures in 'RAW and Basic' ie digital negative and JPG on a D70. On the Apple IPOD camera connector page there is a user comment referring to having found a posting giving a correct way of transferring RAW files to IPOD which works. Obviously I am not expecting to be able to see the raw pictures just the basic jpgs. But does anyone know the correct procedure for transferring RAW and emedded basic PG files over to IPOD and where they are stored on the IPOD so that I can recover them later?
    Dell Latitude D610   Windows XP

i have a minolta 7d and i used to take pics in raw+jpg figuring that it would save the raw and hopefully show the jpgs. no such luck. i talked to the apple gurus and no one seems to know how to make it look at the jpgs and not just the raw files.
i've played around with everything that i could figure out and to no avail. so now i just shoot in raw, tranfer to the ipod (via usb cord to the camera) and when i get home transfer them to the pc.
p.s. the jpgs are still moved over to the ipod and you can get them when you transfer them back to the puter you just can't view them while on the ipod. if you were to shoot just jpg then of course you would be able to see them.

  • Crash during picture transfer with Camera Connector

I searched on various places and have found some people have similar issues but I have not seen a solution.
I have a Casio Exilim EX-Z4 and a brand new iPod Video 80Gb. For my holiday, I borrowed a Camera Connector from a friend of mine and briefly tested the combination with a couple of pictures on the SD card of the Casio camera. This worked fine.
However, it did turn out not to work well. As the SD card contains approx 100 pictures, I left the iPod alone during the copy. After a while, it appeared to have finished. But looking at it, only 30 or so pictures had been copied. And even worse, the iPod did not work as it did before. It could not play any media anymore.
A reset did the trick, but it did not solve the Camera Connector problem. Next import, the same happened but then the pictures could not even be seen on the iPod. Had to reset again. I tried several times, different SD cards in the camera, all the same predictable result.
Coming home, iTunes suggests a firmware update to 1.2.1 so I hoped this would solve the problem. Unfortunately not, I am still unable to use the Camera Connector and have to reset the iPod when I try to do.
Is there any solution to this?

I had the same problem with an 80GB Ipod and a Canon s50. I found that the only way to get back the ability to play the media was to drain the battery completely, and then recharge. Things would work then. When I went to look at my photos, I noticed that the "difficult roll" had only transfered 49 of 500 pictures, and you couldn't view any of the transfered pictures. I deleted the roll but was never able to successfully transfer the pictures from the card - I tried 3 times with the same result. I'm actually returning the camera connector and the Ipod.

  • Will LR4.3 reconize Nikon 3200 camera?

I just bought a Nikon 3200 camera and shoot RAW.  I tried to transfer the files to my Windows 7 computer but it does not start autorun as it does with my other Kinkon cameras.  Itried PSE8 and it said it uploaded but I can't find the images.  I created a file which shows LR files in it but it will not open with LR or PSE.
Any chance this can be fixed?

Do I understand you correctly that in Win 7 and PSE you can see the photos when you connect the camera but in the Import Dialog in Lr you cannot?
Is this by chance not an approved memory card? I don't know if Lr would be bothered about a non-approved card.
These are the Nikon-approved cards for the D3200:
    Back to Lr:
In the Import Dialog, top center, do you have <Copy> selected?
    <Copy> is for importing images from camera / memory card;
    <Add> is for importing images that are already on one of your hard drives and you do not want to change their location;
<Move> is for importing images that are already on one of your hard drives and you do want to change their location.
There is a workaround that hopefully works:
Using Windows upload the photos into a folder of your choice. Then Import them into Lr from this folder.

  • Camera Connector and Nikon D70

I just purchased my Video Ipod 60Gig and the Camera Connector. When I get the camera connected in PTP mode. The Ipod sees that the camera has 92 Raw images on it, but dies around 63 or 64 uploaded and just goes to the image upload menu. Does anyone know how to correct this problem. I need to figure out how to make this upload reliable before a long trip.
    Thanks.
Windows XP   Video Ipod Nikon D70s Camera Connector

    Hello,
I have tried all the steps contained in those
documents. I did manage one time to get the D70s to
import while in Mass Media mode. It stopped after 49
images. I have been able to sync using the camera
and cable to my computer. The Video Ipod just seems
to give up after awhile. Something else is going on.
    Hello
I have the same problem with my EOS 20D. For example, the Ipod sees 148 images on the CF card in my camera; the importation begins but stops after tranferring about 60 images.
    I'm using the PTP mode.
I don't know what the problem is, and, like you, I would like to use it on a 4 week trip without buying more CF card.
Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem?

  • Nikon D90 and camera connector

Help, I have a Nikon D90. I am told it should work with the Ipad Camera connector. Every time I do as told in the instructions. The camera file shows up, and then disappears or crashes. I called the Tech group and the guy said if it did not work there was nothing I could do. My D90 is less then a year old, so it should work like everyone else's. Can someone help me with this, i think the tech guy did not have a clue.

The card reader works fine. I just do not know why everyone has luck using theirs with the D90, and I cannot get it to work. There has to be a settings issue or something.

  • Camera connector and the nikon D50

Recent attempts to use the ipod camera connector for with the nikon D50 have been unsuccessful. A month ago I had no problems. When I attempted this time, it downloaded 3 photos and the stopped and the "unsupported " notation came on the ipod. Why would it work earlier and not now?? (except for the 3 downloads). Any suggestions? Thanks.

No, the hardware is different. The new connector has hardware that facilitates movie rentals. It is possible that this interferes with the camera connector in the same way it does with a large number of other accessories that worked with previous generations of iPods with dock connectors but which do NOT work with the new iPods.
But it really doesn't matter. The "new" iPods have been out for almost six months. The camera connector was never a big seller. If it had been a money maker for Apple, they either would have release a new one or, in your theory, released a software upgrade so they could keep selling them. They haven't. The odds are that they never will. Go buy a stack of memory cards. They're cheap these days.

i have a nikon 3200 and i took pictures in raw format and now want to change to jpeg format

Bridge is just a file browser.  It does not contain any photos inside the application itself.  Bridge will see and display your photos wherever you put them.
You cannot "transfer the edited images to Bridge".  That is wholly nonsensical.  Just use Bridge to navigate to your image files, wherever you put them.

  • Camera Connector with Nikon D2x and 5G 60gb iPod

Has anyone had experience with the D2x (Nikon) and the camera connector on a 5G 60gb iPod?
The camera is compatable with Mass Storage and PTP. The camera works great with iPhoto...plug it in and iPhoto opens and you click the button to download.
Also, I see that the new iPod has a longer lasting battery. Does this help when downloading a large card.
By the way, I called Belkin and their camera connectors are NOT compatable with the new 5G models and the guy said that there is nothing on the drawing board.
    G5 Dual 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   3.5gb RAM; 400gb HD

I purchased the 60gb iPod-Video (5G) and after several failed attempts I found the proceedure to upload photos on to the iPod using an Apple camera connector with my D2x. Here goes:
First, reset the ipod (just a precaution...hold down the center button with the Menu button for 6 sec). The screen will go black with a golden apple in the center. The menu will display after a short period.
Turn on the ipod (if it isn't already on from the above proceedure).
Plug in the camera connector to the iPod (without the USB cable attached).
Attach the USB cable to your camera and turn on the camera.
Plug in the cable from the camera to the camera connector which is attached to the iPod.
Wait 20-30 sec and it should work.
I tested the speed in both PTP mode and Mass Storage mode. The import for both was 200mb.
    PTP = 3minutes 10 sec
Mass Storage 1 minute 59 sec.
The battery did go down a lot (about 1/4 after both imports), but after you detach the camera connector and go back to the main menu, it seems to go back up to about 95% full.
