Camera connector question

Does this new iPod fix the issue with the Apple camera connector and finally allow you to see the photos after they are downloaded without having to connect to a computer first?

Hi Marry,
Is that mean you can view the photos straight after you download from the camera?
What about Movie clip that you take using digital camera, can that be downloaded and view? my digital camera captures MPEG4 movie clip, and I wonder if I can use the ipod as a portable storage device and in the same time play the movie I capture.
Thanks for your help

  • Questions about the ipod camera connector...

    Hi,
i got some questions about the ipod camera connector.
1)Is the camera connector compatible with the Sony camera DSC-P93A ?
In fact, this camera got PTP protocol.
    PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) Oui
Marque PIM (Print Image Matching) Oui
    PictBridge™ Oui
So, do the camera need to have the three following protocols to be compatible with the camera connector ?
=>Mass Storage, PTP, and Type 4
Or maybe does it need only one of it??
    2) Is it compatible with a USB memory card reader?
    Thank you

Wel, if i've right understood what you said, my camera is compatible because it got PTP protocol ?
That's weird, cause i wrote a mail to sony to ask them about the compatibility of my camera, but they answered that it wasn't. But of course, i'll prefer to believe you than them !

  • IPod Camera Connector compatibility question

    Hello!
Well, I'm thinking about buying the Camera connector for trips/etc when I don't have my Powerbook, but have my 30gig Video.
I've looked at the iPod Camera connector compatibility site
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/compatibility/cameraconnector.html
and it doesn't list my camera - the Nikon Coolpix 5200. It lists the 3200, 4200, and S1, which is for the most part an updated 5200. The 4200 is exactly the same apart from the resolution - 4 megapixels.
It notes that those are the ones that Apple has TESTED - not neccessarly the only ones that will work. My camera does have a Mass Storage AND a PTP mode - both supported by Apple.
Just curious if anyone else has tried a 5200 with the connector - and if it worked fine? If not, is there a better connector?
Also - apple mentions that media readers may or may not be supported. Any way to find out which? Is there a list like the one above?
    Thanks,
    Dan
PS: wasn't there some way to do this with a 20gig Clickwheel? I know there's a photo import extra - although it may need a third party connector.
    15" Powerbook G4 (May 2005 ed), iMac DV (9.2.2)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1G Ram, 192 (iMac)

If your camera supports PTP and/or Mass Storage, it should work...

Also, you need an iPod photo/with color display or an iPod with video for use with the Camera Connector.

  • Photos - camera connector

I am considering buying an iPad to take on a trip instead of my laptop.
I want to back up pictures from camera, via the camera connector.
    My questions are:
    1. Does it leave the pictures as they are, or it "optimizes" them? This is what the iPhone or iPod Touch do with the pictures imported from the computer (they reduce them to 100K or so regardless of the original size)
    2. How fast is the transfer?
    Thanks in advance.

    if the photos are "untouched"
can I assume it will import/transfer the Nikon NEF into the iPad which I can sync back to Aperture on my desktop, thanks?

  • Camera Connector and card reader

When I connect my compact flash card reader through the Camera Connector it immediately recognizes it and when I confirm I wish to load the pictures it will download many of the pictures ... then it just hangs.
It can't be a bad jpeg because each time I try it ... it hangs on a different picture.
I have tried several different compact flash cards and they all do the same.
The pictures which it loads are just fine.
I wouldn't think that it should be some kind of compatibility issue because it works straight away ...
If I quit out of the loading ... it will hang at that point.
When it hangs I must boot out of the condition.
    What would cause this?
    Anyone else experience this?

Uh hem, found the recent topic dedicated to this question. Unfortunately, not much is compatible!

  • Kingston DTSE9 with Lightning to USB Camera Connector

    Hi
Does anyone know if the above USB stick works with the Lightning to USB camera connector? Just checking options before I purchase.
    thanks
    Neil

    Apologies Alfred.
I'm aware of the limitations of the system, and mimicking the file structure of a cameras storage is perfect for my needs.
My question should have stated my interest is more in regards to the energy needed to run the USB stick, as I’m acutely aware that different USB sticks have different power requirements, some being above and beyond what the IPad can supply.
I hope that this clarifies my question
    Thanks

  • Camera Connector+Canon Digital Rebel XT or SanDisk's reader

Does anyone know if Apple's iPod Camera Connector work with Canon Digital Rebel XT camera or with SanDisk's ImageMate CF Reader?

I have a answer for all of you regarding this question.....
I decided to give a risk and buy that connector and check it out by myself. Well, it doesn't work with SanDisk ImageMate CF Reader, BUT it WORKS with Canon Digital Rebel XT ! All you have to do is change in your menu option from PC to Print. I bought 5G iPod and everything works fine. That only big minus, it's slooooow. Downloading photos to you iPod is just super slooow.

  • Smartmedia 128 MB to iPod via iPod Camera Connector?

I have a Smartmedia card reader by Sansdisk that works great on my Mac. I wondered if I could connect it direct to the Apple iPod Camera Connector and my 5G iPod to load photos? How much iPod battery would be drained for the full 128 MB transfer? Or should I use the cable from my Olympus C-700 to go to the Camera Connector? Trouble is I can't find the right power adapter for the C-700, so I'd be draining its batteries too. I thought maybe if I used the media reader I could save battery on my camera at least. Is it possible?

Tried to connect Apple's own iPod Camera connector to the camera as well as to my Sans Disk card reader. Neither worked. So the question is answered in that it isn't possible presently to make it work.

  • Pod Camera Connector & PowerShot SD400 & Video Clips

    Hi there,
I'm studying abroad in Europe -Austria to be exact- and loving it. I also have .Mac (and a fast internet connection) so I'm taking a TON of pictures of all my fun trips and putting them online. This is working wonderfully and my friends and family check my site all the time, which makes it really useful.
I got a new digital camera for my trip, a Canon PowerShot SD400. This little guy is performing amazingly with the small downside that Canon released a bunch of new models just after I bought it and came over here! Doh!
I only have a 512MB memory card for the camera and I'm tired of bringing my 12" PowerBook into sketch hostels when I'm traveling, especially when I'm going into "Eastern" Europe. (Now that I've finished my drug-like addiction to US TV now that I've download and seen the last episode of "Lost" season one, I have no more good reasons to bring my PB on these trips.)
Anyway, I also have a iPod Photo 20GB (which I love) and I'm considering getting the Apple iPod Camera Connector, but I have a few questions before I get it:
    - The SD400 is not listed on Apple's site as being compatible, but the (older) SD300 is. I assume this is just because they have not updated the list with the "new" models?
    - The Apple site also says that you need an iPod Photo with software v1.1, but I'm assuming they just haven't updated this page since v1.2 came out?
    - I'm also a little confused by the "upload type" settings in the camera. Apparently there are several types and some are incompatible w/ the Camera Connector/iPod.
    - I want to make sure that I can also upload video clips to the iPod from the camera. I don't care if I can SEE the first frame of the videos or anything on the screen of the iPod but because these clips are sometimes large files, there would be no point in getting the iPod Camera Connector if I could not transfer the movie clips over.
I guess I'm hoping there is someone out there with this camera setup who uses the iPod Camera Connector who can advise!
    Thanks a bunch,
    Allen

I don't have the same camera but I do use the Camera Connector with my Fuji s7000 Zoom.
The camera connector will copy all files from your memory card to the iPod (Video- even .AVI, and photos). It copies the files to row's.
At first I had great success with it. The reason I bought the iPod in the first place was to have a quick and painless method of transfering my pictures from my 512 meg card when I was on vaction. What I have found was that it will work fine for the first transfer, but the second time you transfer the data the iPod image transfer messes up. Basically the second transfer completes but the photos (All previous rows) go into limbo. I was furious because I thought I had lost them completely, however that is not the case but were only recovered when I got home. You only need to connect the iPod to a computer USB port to correct the problem. This seems to sort out the problem without any intervention, but it is a pain in the *** when you are in Mexico where the nearest futureshop is 1000 km away!
I am still trying to figure out if this is a compatibility issue with my camera or a bug in the iPod.

  • 5G iPod with Apple iPod Camera Connector

Does Apple iPod Camera Connector able to download the movies (in .MPG format) which capture from my Sony camera to 5G iPod? If not, any suggestion?

I believe the Connector works only for stills.
Anyway, Sony is one of the more un-Mac-friendly companies out there, so I would not expect much from them.
As for suggestions, I believe it is more a question of what is supported by your camera.
    Good luck

  • Apple iPad Camera Connector query

for starters i have a Sony Digital Still Camera so the Apple card reader wont be any good for that.
Although i do have a perfectly good USB Card reader that can cope with every memory card that was ever made, so copying from Sony Memory Card to SD card isnt a problem.
However my question is this :- if i can put my photos for the iPad2 into my PC iTunes Program why do i need the Apple iPad Camera Connector ?.
On the other hand, wouldn't it sometimes be easier/quicker to put MUSIC onto a SD Memory Card (instead of into iTunes), so why cant i transfer Music to the iPad2 using this Memory Card reader, or perhaps i can but it isnt documented ?.
Does this Memory card reader fit onto iPad1 as well ?.
i think i will have to give it a rest asking all these questions, and perhaps patiently wait until we actually have one of these iPad2 gadgets in our grubby little hands.
    tim

    Hey Tim
Yep the cam connector is really only for transferring photos. To be honest I wouldn't spend money on this UNTIL you find a real need. If you are just a casual photographer then you will find it just as easy to store photos on your cameras storage card until you get back home, and then transfer them to your iPad via iTunes. Some more serious or professional photographers want to back up photos via iPad before they get home in case of loss etc. Or to display to clients.
Don't worry about asking lots of questions - the better prepared you are the more you will enjoy your iPad, plus it adds to the excitement
PS the kit does have a few extra uses that might just interest you if it's your thing

  • Camera connector and frozen screen

i was pleased to activate my camera connector and have it work! until one of the connections bacame loose and my ipod screen froze. i tried toggleing the hold switch and holding the menu and click buttons, but neither worked. any ideas?

    Hey BBDunn,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Just to clarify the update you did was for 10.0.10.116 and not 10.0.0.116? When taking a picture on the BlackBerry Z10 if you hold the smartphone it will automatically focus.
Did you do the update through BlackBerry Link or over-the-air wirelessly?
I would highly suggest you create a backup of your data through BlackBerry Link (Device>Backup), then perform a security wipe by going to Settings>Security>Security Wipe.
Then test the camera out prior to restoring any data.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Ipod classic+camera connector

  • My apple camera connector comes up with an error "this accessorty is not supported.." on my iPhone 4 now that I have updated to iOS7, previously it worked fine.  Any suggestions?

I have an iPhone 4 and a camera card connector (bought from apple) which worked fine together, then I updated to iOS7 and now when I plug it in it says " This accessory is not supported by this iPhone."
Any suggestions on how to get my certified apple camera connector working with my iPhone again would be greatly appreciated.  I really wish I hadn't updated to iOS7....

  • Ipod color + mediareader or camera connector

    Hi all,
First i have the media reader to sync photo's from CF card to the ipod.
Now i think that is pretty slow. So i bought the camera connector. I was told that it would be much faster (usb 2.0). I have the Minolta Dynax 7D DLSR wich is on the compatibilty list. Now the local apple store told me that is because of my camera. Why is the camera listed on the compatibilty list while it is not 100% compatible?
The camera connector is much slower that the media reader. I have tried both settings, USB and PTP.
It takes about half an hour to transfer a 1gb CF content. I mean... i guess 30sec at least per photo (raw+jpg) while on the pc it transfers with 2.2mb per second (8sec per photo).
    regards
    Edgar
