It could be an issue with media card in the camera, the cable from the camera, or iPhoto itself.
Try the following:
1.) Ensure the camera is fully charged
2.) Ensure the date and time on the camera are correct
3.) Plug the camera directly into the computer (or if you are using a media card reader make sure that is directly plugged in. no USB hubs)
__If this works with iPhoto your done.
__If not keep going
4.) Open "Image Capture, found in Macintosh HD > Applications
__If this works then the issue may be with iPhoto
_Remove the following the trash and restart the computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iphoto
__If Image Capture does not work there may be something wrong with the camera or the media card.
__Try using a different computer and if possible import the images off there. You can then reformat the media card using the camera and try it again.

New camera does not show as a disc on desktop like my old camera???
Just wondering if this is a camera issue or an iPhoto issue. I just bought a Canon SD400 and when I hook it up, it goes through the norm...it launches iPhoto then waits for me to click import. It does not, however, show as a drive on the desktop...or show on the desktop at all for that matter. With my old camera, I could use the iPhoto option, or I could just go to the desktop and open it as though it were a drive or a disc..that way, I could just grab photos real quick and put them in a folder. It was perfect for photos that I only needed temporarily or didn't necessarily want in my iPhoto library. Any clues why this has stopped with the new camera? Thanks in advance.Different camera, different mass-media drivers. Your camera model probably will never show up as a mountable disk on the desktop. For the ability to remove only selected photos from the camera, launch the Image Capture application. In Image Capture preferences, remove iPhoto as the target application that opens when your camera is connected. Choose Image Capture to open, instead.
Once you've downloaded your photos to a folder with Image Capture, you can subsequently use iPhoto to import whatever images you want included in your iPhoto collection. -
Camera does not show up when connected to Macbook Air
I'm connecting my Sony NEX-F3 to my new Macbook Air for the first time.
When connected via USB the screen on the camera says to 'Check the connected device'. On my old Macbook the camera would autmotically appear on my desktop however this one is not responding at all. I have checked Disk Utility & Finder to see if it has appeared there instead but no luck, any advice?This is a new computer? Why not take it to an Apple store and have the techs there work on it. I would take the camera and hard drive along so they see exactly what you see.

My iPod touch 5g internal camera does not show up.
Whenever I try to switch from outside camera to inside camera the screen gets all blurry and freezes. In apps that use the camera it doesn't even give me the option to use my internal front camera.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have a macbookpro. I use Aperture and Iphoto. When I connect any camera to the Mac it does not open it as a device in Iphoto, Aperture or in Finder. It use to work but just stopped. Any sugestions?
Here is the full story. It may be long so please bear with me. I take a lot of pictures and movies. Since I have over 30,000 pictures I decided to place the Iphoto library on an external drive to save space on my internal drive since ot was getting very full. After I did that it worked fine for a while. Then one day I could not open the Iphoto library. Since I was overseas at the time I brought it to the IStudio ( not an Istore) overseas. They said to rebuild the library and they would do that for me. It took all day since I had so many pictures. When they called me and told me it was ready, I went to pick it up. They started to show me the new library. It crashed again. Not knowing how to fix this at the ISudio, they installed Aperture and imported the Iphoto library. This worked fine for a short time.When back in the states, it crashed again just like Iphoto. I took it to the IStore. They did not know why the overseas Istudio did what they did what they did and rebuilt my aperture library. Again it worked fine. Now that I am overseas again. It crashed again. However, I concluded that the reason for these crashes is becuase I have the file on an external drive that derives its power from the Mac and not by itself. When I use it and stop for a while the MAC will go to sleep and this cuases the external drive to shut down. This then causes the library to have inconsistancies. Therefore, when it happened this time I tried to repair the library and after 36 hours it would close down Aperture. Therefore I decided to rebuild the library. That did not work either. So I tried opening the Aperture library with Iphoto. That seemed like it was going to work but after importing half of the 30,000 plus pictures. I photo shut down. I then made a new aperture libary and erged the old library with it. This worked. I now have an aperture library that works. However, when I plug my camera into the MAC nothing happens. The camera does not show up in devices in either Aperture, I photo nor in Finder. The USB port and cord I use works fine becuase I can read my external hard drives fine. I checked as SIG suggested in this thread and everything is set to open aperture when the camera is connected.
I have the newest OS version 10. 7. 2 and the computer frequently updates all my programs. I have not installed any ne software lately. The problem happens both if I am on battery or plugged in. Just before I came overseas the IStore replaced the Battery. I can go back to the IStudio here overseas but the last time I was there and told them about the problem ( I did not have my computer with me) they did not impress me with their wisdom. I will be back in that city in a month and can go there if need be. Thanks for all the help so far. God bless. -
My camera worked fine yesterday, but today it won't focus. Any ideas? I cleaned the lens with my camera cleaner and also tried banging it on my hand as suggested in other posts. I am past the one year warranty and I am not due for an upgrade til September...

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

My ipod touch does not show up in my itunes source list, and shows up as a digital camera in "My Computer". Any ideas?
Start here. Is ti normal and expected for the computer to also see the iPod as a comera since that is how you get saved photos from the iPod to the computer.

I have the new MacBook Pro from late 2011. "the one before the new ritina display" i have a cannon gl2 video camera which is mini dv. when i plug it into my mac via firwire 800 it does not show up in the iMovie. i have set the settings on the camera to vcr mode and changed it to av->dv out. when i click on the import from camera on imovie it doesnt even show my camera in it. it just gives me the option to import video from my facetime camera. the camera is turned on the wires are connected i know for fact that its a firewire and not a usb. i know what they each look like. i bought the firewire cable and it was marked down cause it was an opened and used item. would it be possible that it could be deffected and if that is not the reason what other options do i have?
I would say that odds are high that you have a bad cable. Maybe that is why they returned it.
I would suggest trying a different firewire cable.

Other things to check:
Is your camera plugged in to wall power (not to batteries only). Must be hooked to an AC power source to import. -
After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.
Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
So this is solved. -

Where exactly is the filename missing? Aperture has plenty of places to display metadata.
You configure and enable the display of metadata by defining Metadata presets. One place todo this is the little baggage label icon below the browser:
Press the icon,enable the display of metadata overlays for Browser and Viewer, then press "Edit" to customize the display of the tags you want to be displayed.

CS6 Bridge does not show ANY of the adjustments I've made in previous versions of Camera Raw, and sometimes (intermittently) doesn't show adjustments made in CS6 Camera Raw.
I'm on a PC, I've uninstalled and reinstalled about 6 times. I feel so upset, I've spent literally HOURS going in circles on the Adobe website, trying to get help on the phone (I'll pay!!!) but there seems to be no way to contact anyone. I've posted this problem several times and no one answers.

Camera Raw 8.4 does not show profiles for my Sony A850.
Camera Raw 8.4 does not show the profiles for my Sony A850. The camera profiles are in the directory, Camera Raw recognizes the photo as being from my A850 in the Camera Raw banner, but the only profile available is Adobe Standard. This all used to work OK a few months ago.
I don’t see any of these on either my Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer in that normal ACR profiles location. Both have PS-CC/ACR8.4 so maybe they used to be there and were removed?
However, if they are valid profiles you can probably get them to work by putting them in the user-customer-profiles folder:
%APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
%APPDATA% = C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming
I have over a dozen custom-created profiles in this folder and both Photoshop and Lightroom see them all.
A few years back it wasn't this way, but more recently Adobe recognizes which profiles are theirs and will ignore any others in the Adobe profile area, but it expects to see others in the user-custom-profile area, so move the .dcp files over there.
Did your A850 profiles come from a third party like these:

When using the iphone 6 Plus. I use iMessage and then attach a photo or take a photo... the app does not show the camera fully or even to attach a photo does not work. I have about 8-9000 phones and like 10 short videos in there but it is incredibly slow and almost unable. I have the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus with 46 gb still available. I think this should not be so slow with so much memory still available. Please help. I am using 8.1.2. Yes I have set up the phone as a new phone. After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
- If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
- If the issue is now resolved, sync one type of content at a time back to the device. For example, if you had an issue playing music, add songs from iTunes and confirm they will play. If your contacts weren't loading successfully, add the contacts back. After each sync, test to see if the issue has returned.

Quicktime does not show USB 2861 device as a camera
This device is the hardware known as Video 2 Go from Ionaudio. Now the documentation states that (for Snow Leopard) one should:
first, install their bundled software (VideoGlide from Echofx) and register it;
secondly, set QT (via Get info selection) to run in 32bit mode;
before trying to use the device with QT or iMovie as an input device.
Now I don't run 10.6.x - I have 10.7.5 installed and some person else has 10.8.x installed and in both cases we find that QT does not show the device as a "composite" camera (or Video input device) when trying to do a "New Movie Recording". It is though recognised as an audio input device (in QT) and it does show up in the USB tab of the System Info report when connected.
Is there any suggestions that I should tweak?Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
