Camera drivers won't load , unless booting from OS 9

I am trying to use a Fuji Luma2 digital back on my Hasselblad camera; the software that controls the camera thru the firewire only works by booting from OS 9.
When running the application on OS 9 classic the main features (take picture) appear ghosted (disable)
at launching application, get error message:
"an error occurred while trying to contact the luma family extension error (-2804)
reinstall the software and try again."
I have reinstalled the app. a number of times; deleting preferences, etc. still does not work. I have tried other computers as well. It is the same .
the only time that the camera back is controllable thru the firewire interface is by booting from os 9.
This limits my choice of computer for locacion work.
Any insight or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Regards..

I spent an hour or so, trying to find out some help on this Fuji Luma medium format camera back. Mosaic Imaging produced the software to drive the device, and although their site is still up and running, it doesn't look like it's been updated in 7 years.
Mosaic Engineering still provide servicing for the Luma device, but there didn't seem to be much sign of activity for the software.
I was really hoping to find notice of a USB2 cable and driver, but nothing. I did find lots of reviews of the Luma II.
Although the Hasselblad is top quality kit, the Luma II only offers an 11MP output.
And I can't be sure if this is a true 11MP sensor, or a 5.5MP / 6MP sensor with 11MP output. Fuji were infamous for claiming their camera backs had twice their actual resolution, and under review it was difficult to tell the difference between a 6MP device and a Fuji 12MP device.
So my point is that it might be time to upgrade, either a new MF camera back, or go full digital, Nikon D3, or the new D700 (grr, just bought my D300), or the allegedly upcoming D3x with 24MP sensor.
Whatever you get, (if you make a change) you'll find the Mac is very well supported, and I was amazed to find, exceptionally well supported by Fuji. It appears that the OSX driver issue with the Luma II is more due to the age of the Luma II.
Just one more link, which you may have already in your favs:

    Hi Maquillage,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would recommend troubleshooting the iPhone by following the instructions in this article:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
    Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Firefox won't load check images from my online bank. It had been doing so with no problems, but stopped 2 days ago. I can get into my account and navigate with no problems. But when I click to see the image of a check, I get a blank page.

It works fine with Safari and Internet Explorer.

If you can't open them in Firefox anymore (you seem to have a plugin: View PDF documents within your web browser) then download the documents to the desktop and open them with a program that can open PDF files.

  • Dv7 7115nr BIOS won't recognize and boot from SSD

I am trying to install a Crucial MX100 512GB SSD into my dv7 7115nr laptop.  I have tried cloning the my old drive to the new one and the BIOS won't boot from it.  I tried a fresh install of Windows 7 and got the message "windows cannot be installed to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu".  The BIOS on this computer is up to date, but seems severly limited in what it can do.  I have found no way to enable AHCI mode.  Cruicial claims that the SSD is compatible with this laptop.

I don't see the motherboard # or Bios revision in your info anywhere and that would help folks here narrow down the problems a little but here's a few ideas.
    1. Sounds like you have some kind of FIS2R board from your description. As you said, there are some fixes for incompatibilities between the Intel ICH5(R) and certain Maxtor drives in the latest Bios. If you follow the instructions in the link Wonkanoby provided above EXACTLY, it will work. I have done it this way myself with no OS installed. (btw, it says to create the boot floppy with 98se or ME.)
    2. You say the promise controller sees your drive but won't boot from it. Do you mean it won't boot after installing WindowsXP(2000) or does windows not see the drive after loading the Windows setup CD? Just in case you didn't know, did you hit F6 when starting the Windows setup disk and install the Promise SATA drivers from the floppy disk that came with your motherboard?
If this stuff is all obvious to you, I apologize. You just need to give a few more details.
    Hope you get it working!

  • Why won't my iMac boot from an external drive?

I have an external drive that has a clone of my other iMac running Mountain Lion made with Super Duper which boots up fine with the machine it's a clone of but will not boot on my new iMac running Yosemite or my MacBook running Snow Leopard. I want to upgrade the OS on this drive to Yosemite so that I can transfer files and applications to my new machine without overwriting the newer versions of Apps I already have on it. I can select it as the Startup Disk but when it tries to boot I get the No Entry sign and it halts. Any ideas? I could do the upgrade on my old iMac but I have a very slow broadband connection and it will take hours to download, blocking use of the machine which my wife needs to have access to, hence the convoluted process.

It won't boot from the new iMac because it's older than the OS that came with the new one. I'm not sure that a laptop will boot from the clone of a desktop.
Use setup assistant to migrate just your files from the old computer. If you already passed up using setup assistant, then you can use migration assistant to transfer your files.
If you don't want to use the above, put the computers on the network and enable file sharing. Log onto the old computer and copy whatever you want to transfer to the user desktop of the new computer. This will change the permissions of those files to the new system. Then you can log onto the new iMac and move those files where you want them.

  • Classic won't load 9.1 from second hdd

I have a Powermac G4 Quicksilver (733 mHz, updated to OS X 10.4.8) that I recently purchased from eBay as a gift for a family member. She was running an older G3 (233 mHz, Mac OS 9.1). I took the little 6 GB hard drive from the old Mac and slaved it to the new hdd. OS X found it nicely, with all of the files and applications in place. Super.
However, I’m having issues getting "Classic" to start. It tells me “you have Mac OS 9.1 installed, it is recommended you upgrade to 9.2”. Then, 9.1 begins to load...but the progress bar stops at a tiny sliver and goes no further. I have to force quit. I’ve tried starting Classic from System Preferences with extensions off, etc., with no luck. Classic does see the System Folder on the old hard drive for OS 9.1 as a valid system folder.
I downloaded the 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 updates, but OS X tries to load Classic in order to install (argh). I copied over the 9.2.x updates to the old drive, and tried to change the startup disk in System Preferences to the 9.1 System Folder on the second drive in order to update to 9.2.2, but it still boots to OS X. I went as far as to disconnect the OS X hdd from the bus and set the 9.1 hdd to master, but I get the dreaded folder/question mark/Mac Smileyface, and 9.1 won’t load.
I should note I didn't see a Classic option within OS X until I added the old hard drive to the system. The OS X System folder doesn’t appear to contain an OS 9 folder for Classic to choose. Any ideas, Macheads?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hi, Micheal. Thanks for the welcome.
I'm not sure. I know the G3 was initially purchased with 8.x, and then upgraded to 9.1 at some point. I didn't realize that Apple built their OSes to be CPU specfic, so it would be difficult to answer that question. You think this is the case? I thought the G4 was built to be backward compatible with previous versions of Mac OS.

  • IPhone drivers won't load since iTunes 10.1

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I installed iTunes 10.1 almost 2 weeks ago. On Nov 14, I tried to sync my iPhone 3GS for the first time since the upgrade. I plugged the phone in and Windows said it was loading the drivers. Then Windows popped up a little notice over the tool tray saying there was an error.
I've had some trouble like this before, but usually only on iOS upgrades when the phone is in recovery mode. Still, I followed the usual steps. I uninstalled iTunes and all related programs. I rebooted. I downloaded a fresh version of iTunes 64-bit. I installed and rebooted. I plugged in the phone, but still the drivers wouldn't load.
I called Apple support. They walked me through the uninstall again. I turned off my anti-virus and firewall. I verified that all folders related to the apple install were removed. I emptied my Recycle Bin even. Rebooted, downloaded, installed, rebooted. Still not working. Device Manager claims the driver is not for this platform when I watch it try to identify the phone when I plug it in. (Yes, I downloaded the 64-bit version of iTunes.)
Eventually, they told me to take the phone into an Apple store and verify that there was no hardware problem. The phone is apparently fine. They gave me a new cable, but it still doesn't work.
Prior to the iTunes 10.1 upgrade, I had no issues with syncing the phone. I had some issues during upgrades where exactly this kind of thing would happen, but taking it into the store to restore to factory defaults always meant I could recover from backup.
The guys at the Genius bar suggested I wait for the next iTunes update, but it's been two weeks and I can't backup my phone.
Has anyone here successfully resolved a problem like this one? I see some people with similar, but not identical, problems on the forums here, but not all of them have their questions marked as answered either.

I understand that some of you worship Apple and any negative comment about Apple is an insult to them personally.
Not to me buddy boy. I understand there are those who make such blanket statements - if I have a problem or I always experience a problem after installing an iPhone firmware update or after installing an iTunes update, the same must apply to EVERYONE. Baloney. Such a blanket statement could not be further from the truth in regards to Apple updates and Windoze updates. All Windows users do not experience a problem after installing every Windows update but a certain percentage will and do. And there are a percentage of mental midgets who make idle threats at a user to user help forum only - if Apple doesn't do this or that, this will be the last Apple product I will EVER buy. Doubtful there are any fellow user will lose any sleep if you decide to never purchase another iPhone or any Apple product. Win some, lose some. It is impossible to make everyone happy. If you want help, stick to providing pertinent info about the problem only and spare fellow users the idle threats.
Every time when I plug in my Iphone4 to the computer, Itunes automatically recognizes the phone and syncs. It has not done some the past few days since my upgrade.
Your iPhone syncs but not automatically when your iPhone is connected. You must go to all the trouble of having to manually select the Sync button which is having a dramatic effect on your lifeline for work, etc. - having to manually select the Sync button?

  • Lens profile in Camera raw won't load

    Hello :
Can you please tell me why, when in Camera raw, my lens profile won't load. I use photoshop CS6 and have a Nikon d700 lens is 70-200 2.8 both included in the profile available.
All softwar is up to date
    Thank you !

    Sujac:
In CameraRaw (I don't have Lightroom) Camera/Lens profiles are tied to the filetype. So, for example, your image is a JPG, CameraRaw won't show DNG/RAW profiles.
Suggestions: 1) if available, use the RAW file. 2) If it ain't, open the image in an editor that can save the file as a DNG, then do it. The lens profiles will probably be available then.
    Best.

  • CR2 won't load in CS2 from a Canon 1D Mk III

I wasn't able to test downloading pictures when I got my 1D Mk III yesterday, so I didn't find out until just a few minutes ago that the CR2 format won't load in my copy of CS2...
I researched the issue and downloaded Camera Raw 3.7 and installed it properly, I even restarted my computer, just in case, but the CR2 files I took earlier this morning still aren't loading.
Does the 1D Mk III write the CR2 files differently? Am I forced to upgrade to CS3 or is there something I'm missing?
Please help! I need to turn these pictures around by tomorrow... :/

You'll need to use the latest version of ACR, use Canon's own DPP or try CaptureOne 4.0, which, in my opinion, has the best raw processing for Canon files.

  • Xserve G4 (slot loading) not booting from a system disk - HELP!

I've read through the support and learned that when booting from a disk that the Xserve wants to load resources into the ram, therefore taking a long time to boot.
I waited over 40 minutes and still the Xserve did not boot up.
Was I too impatient? Should I have waited longer? How long? Or can I bypass this?
I need to repair my hard drive but because of this issue haven't been able to touch the drive.
    Thank you for your help.

Hello pkchoo, and welcome to the Appleboards,
Forty minutes sounds like too long to wait for even a G4 from a CD drive but I've never booted one that way personally. If the internal drive is really dead that can sometimes hang booting from even a known good source. If you pop the drive in question does the machine boot then?
Other things you can try are booting from an external firewire drive or booting the Xserve into Target Disk mode and attaching another computer (like a notebook) to the firewire and checking the disk as an external drive. There should also be (I believe this is true for all Xserves) hardware evaluation and testing disks that you can use to see if the long boot time and troubles are perhaps more than just drive trouble.
    Good luck,

  • SSRS 2008 r2 - the Report Manager won't load unless "/Reports" is added to the DNS entry in address bar

    Need some direction, please.
We are moving off  SSRS 2005 to a new server with SSRS 2008R2. The old installation (2005) a DNS entry was created "reports" with the ip address and port number simple. In the Configuration manager the Report Manager Virtual Directory
is "Reports". Website is Default web site. Typing "reports" into the address bar opens up report manager. When this is done the address shows as reports/reports/pages/folder etc.
The new installation is configured the same(?). DNS entry "reports2" with new ip address and port number. In the Configuration manager the Report manager URL virtual directory is "Reports" URLs: =
http://servername:port/Reports. The issue is when typing "Reports2" into the address bar the report manager won't open unless "reports" is added to the dns name i.e. http://reports2/reports
    is entered.
This thread took me to more like kind thread than my searches. Went into IIS in the default web site I added an htm file with a redirect. Then started it, it works. Maybe due to my inexperience but seems counter intuitive as I thought Reporting Services did
away with any reliance on IIS.

    Hi Urquhart,
According to your description, if you type "Reports2" in the browser, then you want to redirect to the report manager homepage in SSRS 2008 R2, right?
In Reporting Services 2008 R2, it uses HTTP.SYS for HTTP access and it’s independent of Internet Information Server(IIS). The role for HTTP.sys in Reporting Services is that, HTTP.sys receive the user's request, and then send it to report server. Report
Server handle the request(e.g. authenticate the users), and then use HTTP.sys the send HTTP responses again. In a word, HTTP.sys is just a driver, which allow us to communicate the clients(browser) with Report Server without Microsoft Internet Information
    Server(IIS).
So, since HTTP.SYS doesn’t provide URL redirection function, we are not able to redirect "Reports2" to report manager homepage by default. If we want to use redirect function, we should add a .html file in IIS to redirect the user to the report
    manager.
