Camera file generator timeout

Time out came up on Camera File Generator
Hi
Recently I use Camera File Generator Version 2.1.1 to control a CamraLink camera through IMAQ PCI-1428. When I grab the image "Acquisition Timeout" message came up. I changed smaller image format, but it was still same. I succeed communication with this camera through another serial communication software. It seems camera works, but an image does not come up.
And one more thing, I just want to use a camera with default setting. I expect I do not need to send any serial command. Should I do some action ?
Thanks lots,
Kevin

Hi Burrito,
Sorry for late respond, Now I got an image after changed the camera setting and setting on IMAX. I can see an image on  both of software. It seems camera was not recognized on IMAX. This was main reason. Thank you for your help.
Best,
Kevin

  • Question about camera file generator

    Dear all,
I was trying to set up my camera with the frame grabber using camera file generator. My camera is a linescan camera, which is 1024x1 pixels.
My question is, in the camera file generator, I can choose to display maximum number of rows which could be any number I key in, for example, I can choose to display 1024x256 or 1024x800.So since my camera has only one line of pixels, where are all the other rows come from? How does it work?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi
When you create your icd file, the height value, will be the maximum number of lines you can accumulate.
So when you will use your camera with MAX or LabVIEW, you can specify an image height within 1 and this value.
I suggest to set this value pretty high (10000 lines for instance) so that you are free to request a big image in your application.

  • PCIe-1433 not showing 16bit x 2 taps as option in camera file generator

Trouble getting 16bit by 2 taps camera to display 16 bits.  Instead, I get interleved columns of 16bits and 8bits, as if it is only doing 24bit.  Camera file generator seems to configure it all correctly, oddly, it uses tap 1 and tap 3 instead of tap 1 and tap 2.
I noticed PCIE-1433 documentation doesn't list 2 taps by 16bit as an option,
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/374001b.pdf
    yet NI public information
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9B89C9FA43A6973A86257A62004658D5
states it can support 2 taps by 16 bit.  Chances I need to update IMAQ drivers?

    Hi dre99gsx,
This seems like it could be caused by using the wrong camera file.  I noticed you said that it's a two tap camera and it's using a different tap configuration than what is intended.  Have you tried creating the camera file manually using our Camera File Generator (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/14207)?

  • Camera File Generator Won't Run with MAX + PCIe-1433

    Hi,
I am a camera developer and am trying to integrate a couple of new cameralink cameras with the PCIe-1433 NI frame grabber.  I have installed NI MAX 14.0 and version 3.0.0 of the Camera File Generator.
I am trying to build a new Camera File for our companies cameras.
The NI MAX shows the NI PCIe-1433 device when it launches.
When I try to launch the Camera File Generator, it failis to load with the following message:
"You must have NI-IMAQ 4.6.0 or higher installed before running the NI Camera File Generator.  NI-IMAQ 4.6.0 is installed with Vision Acquisition Software 2011."
The MAX configuration tree shows I have version 14.0 of the NI-IMAQ software available.
Is there any sort of developer's guide for creating a camera file to allow me to use my camera?  I need to write some serial commands to the unit and thought tha tthe Camera File Generator would support this....
    Thanks.
    -Mike

    Hi mawillia,
The latest version of the IMAQ drivers is version 4.9, and it would show up where you said, under the Software tab in NI MAX.  Do you have this latest version installed?  If you like, feel free to expand out your software tab and take a picture of it and post it here.
Also, you are correct that the serial commands can be set in the camera file.  Here is a link to our support page for the Camera File Generator: http://sine.ni.com/psp/app/doc/p/id/psp-723/lang/en
Within it is a whole host of various KnowledgeBase articles.  This one seems particularly helpful:
What framegrabber specifications do I need to know to create my camera file?:  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9B89C9FA43A6973A86257A62004658D5
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any articles specific to coding the serial commands for your camera in the camera file.  But I recommend opening up one of the bundled camera files (I'm looking at the Basler acA2000-340kc (Base).icd ) and within that, click the Camera Control tab.  The serial commands for each attribute will show up on the right side, and you can use this as an example for creating yours.
Let me know if you have any further questions!

  • Camera File (.icd) for Dalsa Piranha 4 (P4-CM-08K070)

    Hi there
I am trying to use the Dalsa line-scan camera P4-CM-08K070-00-R together with the NI PCIe-1433 frame grabber in Labview.
Although there are lots of camera files for different Dalsa models (in the IMAQ driver collection and here on the NI site), I haven't found one for my camera.
I have tried to create one using the Camera File Generator, but without too much success.
Serial communication through Camera Link for reading & writing camera settings works well, but I can't get a signal.
When I use "Snap" in NI MAX or Labview, I just get a timeout.
Anybody here, who has experience with Dalsa cameras?
    Thanks!
    Sebastian
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi uday
Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, it did not bring me much further.
    - I am able to load my camera file in MAX, but that does obviously not mean that there aren't any problems.
    - I didn't know that MAX can automatically generate camera files. Where do I find this option?
    - Yes, I also know what a timeout in general is. I made sure that the camera runs internally triggered, so it should send data all the time without waiting for a trigger from the frame grabber.
As a matter of fact; I got two steps forward and one back, when I tried to find that automatic camera file generation in MAX.
For a couple of times I could receive the test pattern from the camera; now I only get the following error when I try to snap an image: "Serial terminal string not found ..."
(See also the attached screen shots - the MAX error message is in German, but it has basically the same contents as the one in CFGen)
I wish I could tell what exactly I have done...
    I am confused, because
    - I wasn't aware that the image data transfer involves serial communication.
    - the serial communication for setting parameters works flawless, and I am sure that I have set up the correct termination character in the camera file.
Any idea what this error message means exactly?
    regards, seb

  • PCIe-1429 camera files for work with Basler spL4096-70km line camera

Hi, please help with configuring my frame grabber.
Can I find camera files for PCIe-1429, working with Basler spL4096-70km line camera ?
now generating it with NI Camera File Generator, but when checking image with MAX -
getting error if configuring with 4096 pixels,
no error if with 2048, but! I want to get the full resolution (camera
has 2 segments of 2048 pixels, 12 bit pixel depth).
Settings snip attached - please help - what is wrong? (I'm new here )

    Hi Bruce,
This is Amitai from National Instruments Israel,
Allow me to enter this conversation.
Since you have a similar camera and working, I will be happy to get advises from you in order to help Sveta.
I have contacted Sveta today, and used remote desktop connection to try your suggestion and others.
We have used the Basler Vision Technologies spL4096-70km camera file -
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nipc.product?pid=11075&asid=1102
and we have changed the "InterfaceInfo" manualy in the text file, and reciceved the error : #0xBFF60056 Requested attribute is invalid.
We then followed this KB - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9757373FEE86D64B862573CA004FD752?OpenDocument
and edited the "Supported Image Acquisition Devices" to PCIe-1429.
    See cameraSettings.jpg file attached.
You can also see in the file, that the "PCIe-1429 Full configuration Camera Link" is grayed out.
I am wondering why  ... is it because this is the only frame grabber that is connected to the PC ? or is it because there is some issue with this frame grabber and this camera attributes ?
Following your advise earlier in the post, we chose the "2 tap interlaced vertically" Orientation.
We had success when setting smaller Acquisition windows (for example 800x1024 or 512x2 see jpeg attachments) and when we tried to reach the camera attributes 4096x2 (http://www.baslerweb.com/products/sprint.html?model=253) we got an acquisition timeout notification.
    see time-out.jpg attached.
    The NI-PCI-1433/5 has a 850 MB/s of bandwidth while the NI-PCIe-1429 has a 680 MB/s of bandwidth.
Sampling 2x4096 (which is the camera attribute that Sveta is trying to achieve) at 12-bit per pixel and with 55 fps equals 680MB/s.
Do you think the bandwidth difference can be the issue ?

  • Should I modify the camera file to change the greyscale resolution of my Photonfocus camera from 8 to 12 bits?

I have some difficulties to use my Photonfocus camera with 12 bits greyscale resolution.
    I have a Photonfocus camera MV-D1024E-160-CL-12, a NI PCIe-1429 frame grabber, PFRemote 2.0 and Measurement & Automation Explorer 4.2.1.3001.
If I work with 8 bits greyscale resolution (PFRemote -> Data Output: Resolution : 8 bit) and look at the image with MAX (Système -> Périphériques et interfaces -> NI-IMAQ Devices -> img0: NI PCIe-1429 -> Channel 0: PhotonFocus MV-D1024-160 (file in attachment), everything is working.
Now I'd like to work with 12 bits and I don't know exactly what I have to change? I've tried to change only the resolution in PFRemote (PFRemote -> Data Output: Resolution : 12 bit) but then the image in MAX remains a 8 bit resolution. Then I've tried also to modify the camera file (file in attachment). I've put the "BitDepth" and the "BitsPerComponent" at 12 instead of 8 and the "BinaryThreshold" to (0,4095). But when trying to grab an image in MAX, an error occured: "Error 0xBFF600FE Le nombre de bits par pixel requis est invalide".
Should I really modify the camera file in order to grab 12 bits images? Or what should I do?
    Thank you

    PhotonFocus MV-D1024-160.txt ‏5 KB

    Hi toto26,
Thank you very much for the information. I did exactly the same thing as you suggested for 8-bit, and I were able to change the resolution (number of pixels), exposure time, frame rate without any problem. I understand that I need to coordinate the MAX icd file and the settings of PFRemote.
When I tried to switch to 12-bit, I found that I need the camera file (.icd) for 12-bit. I tried the attached icd in the previous discussion (Photonfocus MV-D1024E-160-CL-12 12-bit 1429 X4 only.zip 2 KB). There was an IMAX Error: Error 0xBFF6002C, FIFO overflow caused acquisition to halt. Then I think maybe this camera file is not good for me because I have a PCIe-1427, instead of a PCIe-1429.
So, I downloaded the camera file generator (from the same link you suggested) to create my own camera file. When I run the generator, the first window popped out was for camera setting, and there was no Photonfocus in the choice for the Manufacturer. Is it true that I cannot create camera files for Photonfocus camera, or I simply don't know how to use the generator?
Thanks again for the help and I look forward to more advices.

  • Noncontinuable exception error opening camera file

    Hi.
I'm trying to open a camera file I generated in Camera FIle Generator in MAX. I keep getting an exception error with the popup of submitting an error report. (I actually have problems with 2 camera files, but I'm thinking the problems are related.)
In Camera File Generator, I can connect to the camera and see video. The camera is an Allied Vision Bonito CL 400B-200fps. We have a NI PCIe-1429 Cameralink card.
WIn-7 64-bit, but MAX and Camera File Generator are both 32-bit. (Maybe this is the problem?)
    - How do I find out what is wrong with the camera file.
    -  This is on a non-networked machine, so how do I submit it a crash report?
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks. I was looking for the appropriate forum for MAX. I saw posts reference MAX, so I thought this was it. Is Machine Vision the right forum for Measurement and Automation Explorer?

  • Camera file for MC1362

    Dear all,
I use a "Mikrotron MC1362 camera" under LabVIEW. The problem is that Mikrotron MC1362 camera is
not supported by National Instruments, i.e. no specific camra-file is offered by NI for this type of camera.
Consequentely, I have to modify the camera-file for MC1302 camera to make it compatible for the MC1362.
Could anybody let me know, how I can make this modification?
    Thanks in Advance,

    Dear new user 2500,
thank you for your post on our webforum. You can use the camera file generator NI Camera File generator . I came across two post where the camera file of the MC 1310 was used; first discussion , second discussion .

  • Camera file for Duncan Tech RH1100 mono

    Hi.
I'm trying to acquire images from a Duncan Tech RH 1100 mono camera with a PCI 1428 board, but I have not the camera file. Does anyone have a camera file for the Duncan Tech RH1100 mono or Has anyone produced a suitable icd file that they'd be willing to share?
I've tried searching this forum, the NI camera file  and the NI industrial camera advisor with no luck. I realize I can use NI's camera file generator to make one myself, but I don't have experience to know if I could generate an icd file that truly has all the features of the camera enabled for MAX and LV.
    Thanks, Marisol

    Hi Fraktur!!
I have been working with the camera RH1100, I got the camera manual and the DTControl-FG Ducncanthech’s software. The DTControl-FG can control of some camera operating parameters as gain for each imaging channel, exposure time, integration time, bit depth, etc.; all this functions are controlled by the serial port, according to the manual it’s possible acquire and archive images up to three remote imaging heads through frame grabber NI PCI-1428 only using the DTControl-FG  software.
Knowing this I connected the camera control unit RH1100 both serial port and PCI-1428 frame grabber, then I install and start the DTControl-FG software.  The software should be automatically detect the serial port to which the camera is connected and the frame grabber (NI PCI-1428) link but only detected me the serial port connection and displays an error message when it trying to detect the PCI-1428 (this message reads: “No Frame Grabber link Found” …… I attached you the screenshot).  Due this I can’t acquire images and the software only let me configure certain camera output parameters… I changed the bit depth to 8 bits.
I tried to test the camera using MAX and the camera file that you sent me (but using this time 8 bitdepth) and I can get images but only one of the imaging head . I need using three heads.
Do You use DTControl-FG software to configure your camera?, Detects your framegrabber?, I think it's a communication problem between the software and the camera link but I do not know how to fix it. I have tried to install the DTControlFG in the same folder as the NI-IMAQ, in the National Instruments folder,  in the file folder cameras, etc. I do not what else to do, any suggestions?

  • NI Camera File for Hamamatsu c11440-10C

    Hi,
I obtained recentlry new camera Hamamatsu C11440-10C (ORCA Flash 2.8) CMOS camera and tried to connect it to frame grabber NI pcie-1433 on 64 bit version of Windows 7. Unfortunately I was stacked when I checked the connectivity between them, since Camera File was not available for this camera yet. I found that NI Camera file generator could be used to generate camera file specific to C11440-10C, but I could not make it work due to the unavailability of the values for the parameters which needs to be filled.
I wonder if I could apply the camera file which was designed for the other cameras to C11440-10C as well. Ideally, I hope I can adjust the representative parameters such as frame rate, frame size (width, heigh in pixels), RTSI, binning, resolution in bits and acquisition grain.

    Hello Mr.. Haizawa
Actually Camera file is better if being provided by the Camera makers, NI Camera File generator can be used to create a Camera file, according to the parameters provided. National Instruments, however, does not ensure the operation of the camera based on this camera file.
I hope this document will help.

  • Installing EPMA File Generator on User Machine

    Greetings all -
I have a user who wants to be able to extract her metadata from EPMA-enabled HFM applications at her discretion. My first thought was EPMA file generator, but she does not (and will not) have access to the servers in any capacity. Is there a way to install the EPMA file generator on a user's machine? I am also open to metadata extraction options that she could do without EPMA file generator, but nothing immediately came to mind.
Any help is appreciated, as always.
    Thank you,
    Sarah
    Edited by: user12224374 on May 17, 2011 7:56 AM

The EPMA file generator can be installed on a user desktop. That bad part is on the 11.x line you have to use the installer which requires a large set of files (installer, foundation 1 - n, EPMA) to install that one little piece of software rather than a specific installer for the EPMA File Generator. Make sure only the file generator is selected for install and no other components.
Once it's installed no configuration is required using the configuration tool -- all parameters are inputs when you run the file generator itself.

  • ARCH files generating frequently

    Hi
My Databade is running in Archive log mode. I have started the script "sppurge.sql" which is present in RDBMS folder. But now i see a number of archived files generated. Is there any relation of geration of arch files with the above script????????
Again when the script completed the task, the generatin of ARCH files came back to normal.
    Plz help me out.......
    Thnx & Regards
    Sunil Kumar Panda

that's normal behavior, sppurge.sql essentially did a batch of delete from statspack tables.
If you plan to remove all old snapshot (after you make a dump backup for example) you can use sptrunc.sql instead. It almost generate no redo log.

Is it wise to keep the Nikon camera files "DSC's"  after downloading them and converting to DNG files via Adobe converter for lightroom use. In other words do the DNG files have all the raw data I would ever need in processing or should I save the camera's DSC files?

DNG files do not contain some metadata supplied by the camera, which can be used by the manufacturer's software. Thus, if you don't keep the original Raw photo, you will lose this information.
If your 1000% sure you're never going to use the manufacturer's software, then this isn't a problem. But who can be sure what software you will be using 10 years from now?

  • Field Value not passed from IDOC (orders01) to File Generated

    Hi All,
I have added a custom field to a PO at item level (ekpo-Ztest)and Passing it to OUTBOUND IDOC.
In process of passing to IDOC(ORDERS01) i mapped the field to segment E2EDP19001-MFRPN and i see the value in the IDOC when i view it in WE02.
The problem is when i generate a file i don't see the value of E2EDP19001-MFRPN
We are already using QUALF,IDTNR,KTEXT of E2EDP19001 and i see all the values of these fields being passed from IDOC to file generated .
Let me know as i'm missing anything in here
    I quick note ,
    I see 3 version for E2EDP19 Segment for orders01

2)May be i 'm using version 000 and its out put length is only 108 and these fields(QUALF,IDTNR,KTEXT) together occupy 108 and there is no room for my new field but My IDOC dispalys E2EDP19001 and E2EDP19002 and also it displays my new field but its the output file generated that doesn't show the value
