Camera icon won't show up on desktop.

Bought a digital picture frame for a present due today.
Want to do a simple transfer of pictures from my iphoto library to the digital card in my nikon camera and then shoot pictures at the party then put in the chip in the Digital photo frame.
I have dragged and dropped from the iphoto library before so I know this works.
I've plugged in both nikon cameras I have but the icon's won't show up on the destop for me to open the card.
Why won't it recognize the cameras of all days-I have to get this done?

I have a similar problem. Apparently Apple "fixed" the finder so that cameras only appear in iPhoto. This is great for ease of use but terrible for us in the nuts and bolts set.
As was mentioned earlier, go to Disk Utility and see if the camera appears there. If it does, then from the Finder choose "Go to Folder" from the Go menu. Enter "/Volumes" without the quote marks and press enter. This should open a window with the volumes that are connected to your Mac. One of the volumes should be your camera.
At this point you should be able to interact with the camera as if it were a regular disk drive.

You could simply access the camera by pressing and holding the camera dedicated key which is placed at the bottom of all other bottons. Was your device every exposed to water? That could also be a reason of heating up. But if no , then you should turn off your device and wait about 10-15 minutes. After that power on your device and change the screen brightness to automatic or lower the brightness . You could also turn off Auto-sunc Data , location NFC , bluetooth. I know that playing boom beach with maximum screen brightness will really heat up your device but i never had a situation where my camera get's closed beucause of the heat. I had warnings that the device is getting warmer . If its possible press dont show again and OK and if the message gets closed you should be able to take some pictures.

I have a 13" Macbook Pro, Mid 2012, OSX, All Software up to date. Mac and Apple TV connected to same Wifi connection. But, the AirPlay Icon won't show up on my toolbar. Press the home button once to wake the phone into lock mode. Then press it twice while in lock screen and you will see camera button to right of slide.

Have a macbook pro running osx lion, connected a kindle fire using micro usb to transfer pictures and the disk icon won't show up on the desktop. When I ran disk utilities the kindle does show up there. Any thoughts as to why it's not recognizing?

Updated OS & now Time Capsule icon isn't showing up on desktop

Just finally upgraded to 10.5. Now my Time Capsule icon isn't showing up on my desktop. Light is green on TC and I can navigate to it through Macintosh HD folder, then shared devices. I just used it as an additional external hard drive at this point. How do I get the icon to reappear. I already updated Airport too.

Presuming you mean the volume of the Time Capsule's internal disk, mount that, open the Accounts panel of System Preferences, authenticate by clicking on the lock if it's "closed", select your account, select the "Login Items" tab, then drag the icon of that drive to the login items list.
Note that this will cause a window of that drive to appear each time you log in. If you search these discussions, you may find some older threads that discuss ways around that.

Did you ever figure out how to get them back? The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was able to open the file in VLC media player (you can download this app), but the file had been corrupted. It was only the last clip I had recorded, all the others were lost. Even the clip that will play is messed up

Camera Display won't show up on Lock Screen after 5.1 update?

I am a sprint iphone user, and I just downloaded the 5.1 update...however the camera display isn't showing up on my lock screen, is this only for AT&T users?

And by show up I mean where it is permanently displayed on the lock screen, not where you double tap the home button. One of my friends did the update and now it is permanently there next to the slide unlock.

Icons do not show up on desktop

Hey everyone! I just updated to 10.5.6 to try to solve an issue I was having with 10.5.5 but to no avail. My desktop folder is has tons of photos and folders in it, but on the actual desktop I am not seeing icons to anything. Any idea why the desktop folder in finder would have items that do not show up on the desktop itself?

Updates never solve individual problems, only system wide and general issues. Problems should always be addressed immediately and no updates should be performed until the system is running properly.

IMO, the desktop is not the best place to store things. It is a unique directory with special properties. Mine is empty.
If you right-click the desktop and select "New Folder" does it appear?
If you see files in the Desktop directory in Finder but they are not visible on the GUI, they may be hidden files.
Right-click one of them in Finder and Get Info. Look at permissions.
You should also run the DU and repair permissions and HD to be sure nothing is basically wrong with the OS.
Create a new user and add some desktop items and see if the desktop items appear.

Applications/Installation won't show up in Desktop Software

Hello, I'm using a Torch 9860 FW 7.0.0.585 which is connected via Desktop Software 6.1 with a Windows PC (Outlook 2003/XP Prof SP3). This morning I encountered a weird problem. Connecting my BB with my PC I decided to check the installed applications since I updated the FM yesterday evening (via my device software updater).
Great surprise ! Exept some Apps (WhatsApp, a Barcode scanner, GPS Logger) no other apps or FW installations were shown. The day before the whole FW installations an all 3rd paty apps where shown in an neat, long list - now: nothing exept these few apps. I tried to reinstall the Desktop Software und reconnected my device - but to no avail.
Did somebody encounter a similar problem ?
I'm a little bit anxious about changing say the installed language packages or other FW preferences since I know no other way then to use the application button in the desktop software to do this. In the current state this would be impossible.
I would be very grateful for some hints or tips.

If you performed the suggested firmware upgrade, then it won't now be showing in the Applications screen of the Desktop Software. Nothing strange there.

Macintosh HD icon missing / not showing up on desktop

Suddenly my boot drive HD (Macintosh HD) icon is missing. In Volumes I can find an alias of my HD but not on my desktop.
I switched the option for "show HD icons on desktop" off and on in Finder options but boot drive not visible while other volumes visibility is switching fine off and on.
I repaired disk permissions but no change.

Can't open another window in firefox and add-on icons won't show

I had to do a system restore after downloading malware which avast stopped from activating. I downloaded Spybot and scanned/fixed various things it had identified but then my laptop wouldn't start in anything but safe mode. After I did the system restore, the malware and Spybot were gone, but Firefox crashed every time I tried to open it, so I had to use Internet Explorer to get online and download Firefox. Since then I have 2 problems: Firefox will only open in one window (it will let me open multiple tabs but only in one window) and my add-on icons (the Personas fox, the Greasemonkey monkey, the Boost for facebook infinity symbol, etc) won't appear on the bottom toolbar or browser bar as they always have, nor are they in the Tools drop-down menu as they always were. I can't get into Personas favorites at all either, despite having reinstalled the Personas Plus account twice. I assume that something causing these things happened when I did the system restore, as anything Spybot "fixed" should have been undone by the system restore? I have Vista 32-bit on a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Please help!

So the build that you downloaded for CentOS 6.4, where did you download it from?
There are some versions of Firefox that may have been compiled by third party providers for specific Linux builds. Mozilla does not host these builds. [[Install Firefox on Linux]] is the reference to the official code for Linux.

Ipod won't show up on desktop or in itunes, but disk utility recognizes it

Here's one i've been trying to figure out for a while. i have an old 3g (at least, i think that's what it is...black and white display and clickwheel) ipod that I've only been using as an external hard drive for the last year or two. So, there's only one album on it and the rest of the info is back ups of documents. For whatever reason, when i plug in the ipod using firewire, i get the "do not disconnect" screen on the ipod, and itunes opens. But, the ipod does not show up in itunes or on my desktop (as it should, in disk mode). If i disconnect the ipod, i get the "you disconnected a device without removing it" pop up. One more thing, in Disk Utility, it recognizes my ipod as being there....same if i go into my "about this mac" screen and look under the firewire port. Any suggestions? I don't want to lose the information, if at all possible.

I have the same problem -- my iPod (first-gen nano) says "use iTunes to restore" in several languages, and doesn't do anything. I can see it in disk utililty and in the system profiler USB list. Fine, I think, I'll just load all my music back on after I restore.
Whoops! Apple forgot that if your iPod doesn't show up in iTunes, you can't restore it any more! Even the kbase is out of date, because it tells you (as the final step) to use iTunes to restore the thing on the page about iTunes not recognizing it.
If I reformat in Disk Utility, will my iPod be permanently damaged? Because that's looking like the last thing I'll be able to do, now that Apple has dropped standalone updaters...
