Camera improvement ideas

Hello Sony,
please consider the following changes for Z1 camera recording:
- slow motion mode
- 60fps for 1080p videos
Do anyone have another idea for improving the camera?
Please share your opinion.
Thank you.

Hey!
I just saw on the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRmGJsTOL30
that Nokia Lumia 1020 has the option to choose between different picture tario at the same resolution, simply, the ratio you want like 4:3, #:2, 1:1,16:9 etc. Why Z1 do not have this option??? There should be also more resolution higher that 8MPx available, 20MPx with all the functions and scene.
Also the video recording really needs an update because colours are washed out, contrast low, and details blurry, Give us 1080p 60 fps and eliminate micro stuttering.
Thank you!

    All,
Anyone knows if the new iPod Touch will have the same camera improvements the iPhone 5 will have? Here are the iPhone 5's camera improvements:
". . .40 percent faster photo capture, better low-light performance, and improved noise reduction. . .Improved video stabilization. . . Face detection"
Aside from Panorama and the sapphire lense.
    Thanks!

  • Z10 Product Improvement Ideas: Peak, Flow and Navigation

Note sure what the best way to get some ideas across to Blackberry but since I've been using my Z10, there are a few ways that I think that navigation and application access can be improved. Sometimes I feel that you need to perform one too many swipes to get to something, often used features are hidden, navigation techniques are inconsistent (i.e. Accessing the hub, calendar and phone) or you have to make one more button press than necessary.
I've been a BB fan for years and have had many models. Want to see Blackberry succeed. Own stock. Got the Z10 first day. Got 4 coworkers to get the Z10. Big promoter.
Here are my suggestions and maybe with enough support, we can get a few adjustments made that improve the overall user experience and make us way more efficient. I also think that Blackberry can retain its innovation in peek and flow while still giving us alternative access that we are used across different devices such as our Ipads, playbooks, Desktops, etc. A couple items will be repeated depending on the suggestion type.
    1. Calendar needs to be a core feature and should always be open and accessible instantly at a click or a swipe. Access to the calendar is not easy as I think it should be. Four ways that Calendar could be more accessible:
    a) Have a calendar button next to phone, search and camera buttons
    b) Support a swipe action of some sort (perhaps upwards and to the left (opposite of the hub))
    c) Add calendar button to the mini-swipe/scroller menu that is available in the active apps or application screen
    d) It should be clickable and launchable on the hub either on the bottom menu or as a hub filter item. Having upcoming events appear by scrolling to the top of my hub items is convenient but not what I am talking about.
    e) Directly from the lock screen. I should be able to click and hold on the calendar event to launch my calendar.
    2. Phone calling is a core feature and needs to be launchable from the hub, the mini-swipe/scroller bar, the applications pages (as an icon) and also from the lock screen similar to the calendar (ie hold the button down). In the hub you can filter on missed/all calls but it only acts to give you a call log and not any other phone feature. Launching through the hub should provide full features.
    3. Phone and Hub should both be accessible from the applications pages as an application icon. This allows me to access hub and phone in a similar manner to my other applications and also reduces the learning curve for those used to the iphone (easier adoption). I can create logical visual organization of my applications and I can essentially put the calendar, phone and hub next to each other. I really like consistent access and behaviour and this would help.
    4.  Hub should be available in the active applications like everything else is. It is the only feature that isn't.
    5. I dislike the fact that the Hub filter opens and closes after I make a selection. I would like to be able to click on the BBM icon and see my BBM messages, then quickly click on my Texts, then my mails. I think the filters should always stay open in the mini mode unless I shrink it. i.e. Click to open filter mode with icons only, drag again to stretch and see the icons with names (I think most of us know what the icons represent anyway) and click or swipe to close the filters menu. With the menu always open, I can view all content types by themselves very quickly.
    6. Hiding the delete button  in the extended menu is not efficient. If I'm looking at a photo, reading and email, reading a text just let me delete immediately. It is an action that I do enough that it should be as available as the back, forward, reply to all buttons. Save me the additional clicks.
    7. When I launch the phone, I want the number keypad open. I don't want to launch the phone and then have to click again to get to the phone pad. The speed dial screen should not be shared with the missed calls. There should be a new screen with a dedicated button.
    8. I've found that once you set up your speed dial or world clocks, you can't edit the order. This means you are stuck with the order that you added the items and have to start from scratch if you want to re-order. This is frustrating. I don't have the ability to think about order that early. Anyone notice that when you add a phone number to speed dial, it might use a different contact than you selected if that other contact has the same number?
    8. We should be able to shortcut phone numbers to the application pages the same way we can shortcut web pages. This gives me the ability to create folders, organize phone numbers and make calls quickly. Again, learning curve for iphone converts and consistency.
    9. Alarm needs to be accessible easier. It can be an application icon accessible in the applications menu. Clicking on the alarm clock icon on the top should open the alarm clock, similarly, clicking on the wifi should open wifi menu, battery should give me percentage, and maybe a quick Bluetooth on and off. Potentially support a notifications quick menu too.
    10. We should be able to put the phone to sleep with a long swipe from the top. I don't get why you need to get to sleep mode by first locking with the top button, getting to the lock mode and then swiping down the curtain. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing?
    11. When searching in the hub, I have to clear the search to get back to an unfiltered view. Why not a quick swipe to the right? Why when I'm searching in the hub does the bottom menu disappear? I should be able to interact with those items the same way without opening the items.
    12. On the lock screen, I want quicker access to different things through three swipe actions. A swipe up opens my applications page, a swipe left opens the hub, a swipe right opens my applications page. I need to be able to open the calendar from the lock page (long press on the calendar event) and I need to be able to launch the phone (add an icon for the phone (like the camera)). Long press of the voicemail, notifications, emails, bbm or texts opens those screens.
    13. Why iis there no email or missed calls preview from the lock screen like the good old days of the torch. I want to know if I should even need to unlock the phone for the new events (is this a security issue?).
    14. The mini-swipe/scroller bar should appear in the hub, active applications and application pages (currently it is only on the latter two). It is a cool features. As per above, it should include calendar and phone.
    15. Active applications should allow pinning and re-ordering. i.e. I lock an open application in place and then I can re-order through drag and drop. Pinning isn't my idea but I like it a lot.
    16. Cool idea. If we allow users to save the layout of an active applications page, they can essentially launch 8 applications in one go in the future. i.e. You save a layout with a name and then you close the entire layout and reactivate it when you want through a list. Very powerful.
That's it for now. Would be super happy to see these adopted and interested in seeing who else has ideas, likes these ideas and hopefully with enough support maybe BB will look at these seriously. Hope they look at them.

    Hi Meredith,
Thought we had everything solved, however the failure to merge to HDR is solved. But the fix causes many problems. Now you can get to the final HDR picture however making small modifications will slow the computer to a crawl. The hourglass blinked for 5 minutes just to make a small highlight change.
What were the preferences restored by deleting the preference file and having Photoshop reload the defaults. These are the ones I am sure about.
    my settings                           default
    memory usage was 80-85%   now 49%  (834 -838 mb)
animated zoom was off            now on
save in background off             now on
graphic processor on basic      now off
    cursors others precise            now standard
transparency grid size small    now medium
By turning up memory to 50% or higher increase (1% or more) the merge to HDR screen opens as a black picture. Progress bar disappears and reappears as loading but Merge to HDR finishes with exception of black picture to start with. Click on 32 bit and.the picture appears. Local Adaption doesn't work !
Turned ON graphics card on NORMAL ,..memory back to 49% .  Merge to HDR works and local adaption works. Appears not to be slow (graphics card helping now) Process bar turns on and off during Merging to HDR
Resetting all my preferences except memory (at 49%  838 MB) Merge to HDR works with the exception of a progress bar that disappears and reappears.
In conclusion with Windows XP 32bit and 4g installed (windows seeing 3g):
Memory over 49%+ GPU on =fail and progress bars turns on and off
Memory 49% + GPU off= black window and Local Adaption fails
Memory 49% + GPU on = Everything works but process bar turns on and off
    GPU On= process bar failure
GPU off= process bar works but slow
Memory over 49%=Merge to HDR failure
Interesting note is that at a 40% memory setting Merge to HDR failed too
    Thanks,
    Meredith

  • IBook G4 1.2Ghz - Improvement Ideas

    Hi
Am am re building an iBook G4.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can improve the unit within it's perameters?
    eg. Software, Hardware, OS
    Richard

There were two iBook G4 1.2GHz models, the first was an Early 2004 with a 14" display, model A1054; the second one was a Late 2004 with 12" display, model A1055. These have slightly different specs in hardware, and shipped with different original OS X versions, with a similar number version Apple Hardware Test on their otherwise different numbered install-restore disc sets. (Each model number has three Order numbers, for configuration variables shipped with feature set differences.)
    Built-in Memory
    256 MB
    Maximum Memory
    1.25 GB
    Memory Slots
    1 - PC-2100 DDR266 200-pin SO-DIMM (PC-2700 supported; however it will run at only 266 MHz)
RAM specs & other specs - see http://mactracker.ca - free download
Some parts including replacement optical drive, may be found at mac
    sites such as OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/search/iBook+G4
The repair guides at http://ifixit.com can be helpful when you are careful.
With either similar version of 1.2GHz iBook G4, the highest OS X is Leopard 10.5(.8) from retail DVD, with the last .8 step update parts available as downloads via the system's Software Update, or from links at Apple Support online.
Obtaining a last-supported version of Adobe Flash player/plugin (vintage, same as listed for 10.4 Tiger) is available from an archive page linked at bottom of page at Adobe through http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Browsers, third party; as the Apple Safari has not been updated for older vintage systems. Names such as iCab (works freely in demo, works better with $20. license) TenFourFox v. 24, SeaMonkey-PPC, are somewhat current and the latter share a mozilla-derived code that has been reworked to run on powerPC. Older unsupported (no security update, etc) browsers for OS X 10.4.11 and 10.5.8 can be still found as downloads; some sites are suspect, even if an OK vintage, lack security and are not recommended.
If you can obtain the correct matching version of iLife (retail disc) for use in Leopard 10.5.8, that is where iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, Garageband, iWeb, can be found. There were a few, so this is a matter of research to get the correct version. Once these are installed each will have a few updates available through Software Update in the system. The newer parts should still download from an apple server. Not sure if there are any standalone update parts. There are no full legitmate applications such as these for vintage OS X online.
Other software such as AppleWorks 6.2.9 when available can be handy, as this suite has a set of applications or functions within it that can still be used adequately today. A word processor, a spreadsheet, draw, paint, presentation, etc. A later application, iWork (pages, etc) may be available as used for 10.5.8 system.
'Missing Manuals' and other useful Mac guides such as they were, for Mac Leopard OS X 10.5 can sometimes be found inexpensively in used book stores or charity thrift stores. I have a few bought at a small fraction of their original retail.  Even a nice copy of Missing Manual for iWork '09. for 10¢ These kinds of books are out there for various iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, Garageband, etc. so look for the correct software and then get the manual. If the manual are mere pennies (compared to $30 retail) it is easy to gather them ahead of any real need. They can be re-donated to a charity thrift, you only lose a little if you don't need them. Or be on  the look out for good G4 tower and be sure it has the original install-restore discs, since those are rare. If you can be technical and repair hardware issues, an iMac G4 1.25GHz 17" or 20" can be curious, if working. Then, for relative inexpensive cost, pre-repaired earlier core2duo MacBooks can be a fairly good experience. I've seen them with a backup system on disc, power supply, battery, & limited warranty... Under $350.
Anyway, if you want to look up information, the everymac.com site has a fair bit with several ways to locate stuff. Also, mactracker.ca has a free downloadable database of most things Apple. Has specs, update, upgrade info, across a wide span of time and product. You could do an 'identify by serial number' lookup online to see what your old iBook may have had. The results vary, but once you narrow down a model that way, then mactracker and everymac help define a build model year series example more clearly.
Not sure if you could get a replacement 10.5 Leopard install disc from AppleCare or sales support, that would be a call to the main phone bank, and not a retail store. There is a fee for these, as available, and not all people who answer the phone appear to know they exist. The label is white, and it would work to install a 10.5 system in a select group of computers, and some people have been able to get them in the past year. Since I still have the original retail 10.4 Tiger, in box, and 10.5 Leopard (drop-in upgrade) and also retail inbox version. Somewhere I have the Panther retail disc set in box and may have given away the Jaguar 10.2 disc. Puma? Not sure. I had over 250 computers and most software from Mac OS 6.0 through 10.5.8 over a period of 8 or 9 years. A hands-on learning experience; repaired, restored, upgraded, then donated nearly all. Sold two. Gave a few to people I know who couldn't afford a nice Mac. And gave support free to those who needed it.
But I don't do that, to the level I had in the past. I no longer have a room with 70 to 80 Macs, repaired with no where to go. Took awhile, but did give away more than 200 in working order with accessories. I still have a few rescued Macs, and a few that need work that I don't feel like it.
My only 'new' iMac, for example, the most costly computer I ever owned, failed because the authorized apple Anchorage reseller service could not fix it. They defacto are the reason it died. Three logic boards, RAM, and a power supply, etc later, it sits in a coma. I do have two spares, for parts. No ambition, to mess with that now, after much unnecessary grief, miles driven, & while under Applecare! But won't toss it either.
So, anyway, have fun and be sure to get a backup computer so you can use any accumulations of stuff, when or if that iBook needs a pal or needs a donor. Some parts etc are available for older portables, see specialist wegenermedia in SC, they also fix stuff we common folk only get headaches from.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Camera improvements for s40 phones

just think that the camera on all s40 handsets could be improved by adding modes like macro and sports mode
    wat do think?

macro and autofocus makes a big difference on any camera phone. whether it be s40 or s60 models. sonyericsson's 2mp phones beats nokia's because of their autofocus and macro. take for example the 6233 and the w810. i've used both of their cameras in the same lighting conditions, the w810 won because of these features, but the 6233 wasn't all that far behind. another bonus would have been flash, night shots are a pain because of that missing feature. if i didn't like the 6233 so much, i would have gotten the w810, but i don't regret my decision..

  • 8.2 update on 4S crashed my camera, any ideas?

I recently did the 8.2 software update on my 4S, which has been nearly flawless until now, and it disabled my camera.  It also disabled the camera for the Instagram app, however I know it works because I can use the Red Laser app for scanning bar codes and QR codes.  Any ideas for a fix?

On the Apple Web Site, under iPhone 6 Features, I was reading and I quite do not understand the following technology:

The FaceTime camera has improved face detection to recognize faces faster and more accurately. It also improves blink detection and smile detection to give you better quality selfies and group shots.

  • Camera improvement suggestion

    Hi,
I would like to suggest 2 improvement to the Camera application.
1/ I would like an option to have the file name for photos and movies been something like: YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS
in order to have a direct sort of file with file creation information
with YYYY is year in 4 digits
MM is Month on 2 digits
Dd is day on 2 digits
HH is hour, MM is minute and SS seconds
2/ I would like Movies creation date field populated. This would help to rename properly file if my suggestion 1/ is not implemented.
    My 2 cents.

  • Nokia N96 camera improvement

I've had a N95 intil now but I recently bought a N96. I updated the firmware to version 30, as they said camera quality would improve that way, but it's still worse than N95's. Is there any trick, program, patch, update or app to make my N96 camera look at least like the N95 one?

The N96 camera is fine, but you do have to do alot more playing with the settings than with the n95 to obtain optimal results Personally I find that the vivid setting is a good place to start also make sure to clean the lens regularly

  • How can I get rid of an important improvement idea concerned with online banking - preferably eMail address?

    So here comes the idea:
When in online-banking (quite commonly!) the page/portal of the Bank has to be abandoned f.i. to look up something else, or this happens acccidentally, the connection is forced to break with a timeout. No good for the system, worse for the user as all entries are lost and have to be done again. And to get into the portal again may take some time until on server-side the user-gate is closed, and next time the entry is usually hampered with stupid and tedious explanations.
Solution: An extra list in 'Extras' to hold all URLs where 'warnings' are wanted.
'Warnings': When a portal or page (URL) listed here is commanded to be closed or this happens unwanted, a prompt for y/n with "do you really want to close?"
Preferable structure of the list: Optional in addition to the URL i.e. in quotes or other appropriate delimiters the text of a deliberately chosen message to replace the standard warning.
PS: could be useful for many other applications also!

  • Photoshop Canvas improvement idea

    Hi guys,
not sure if i'm posting this in the right area as it's more of a feature request. I just wanted to see what other pro users thought of it.
many a time i am trying to make a mish-mash to get some ideas flowing quickly. ok, I have a 120 x 400 document (banner or something)....and i am trying to play with some fonts or some pasted image that has to fit the height only. so if i scale the image/font up, it stretches far out to the right of the doc (about 50% or more for example) and is cut off.
now, to make the doc the right size for the *idea*, i have to resize the canvas with a little guess work to obtain the best fit and then fix the background, etc. if I change my mind...I have to do it all again, etc, etc
wouldn't it be nice, if while we're scaling like this (ctrl+T), (or even ctrl+click an item in the layers palette to select it) to have a "Resize Canvas to selected" ???
illustrator cs4 *sort* of has it (ability to change size visualy) with the artboards (its a great feature)....but this right-click feature added to both photoshop and illustrator would make them so much faster to work with. especially when you want the canvas to match exactly or trying ideas on the fly
    just my 2 cents.

    Thali-Hoo wrote:
crop is in no way the same thing as "resize canvas" as Peter was originally suggesting. resizing the canvas is non-destructive to the psd contents and its layers in contrast to "cropping" which removes everything outside of the document bounds (in photoshop, since we are on the ADOBE forums!!!...hint hint Jed).
Peter didn't say ANYTHING about wanting a non-destructive way of doing it. In fact, he didn't really say much at all about the other content on the page – just the text overflowing the document.
If that's the case, he can:
    Create a new document.
Paste the text into the new document.
    Image >> Crop.
Drag+drop the other layers from the original document into the new one.
Then the layer information will be in tact, at least. I guess he'd still have to line up the content though. That might be a problem, depending on what he's doing. It might work for his particular scenario though.
    In Corel PHOTO-PAINT...
    Just kidding...
Cropping destroys other layer information in PP as well, no matter what method is used.
I'm just trying to help a brother out guys, sheesh! Trying to come up with solutions for him here. Why do you get so offended at at the sheer mention of Corel PHOTO-PAINT? Even if it's intended to provide feature request ideas for Adobe?

  • Any camera improvements in the new iPhone?

Have the camera features been upgraded in the new iPhone? For example, can you take videos now (like almost all other cell phones in the world can)?
    Thanks,
    doug
p.s. I live in Tokyo and it looks like it will be released here soon too, via Softbank. But there are some features in my current cell phone I wouldn't want to give up, like being able to use my cell phone to pay my train and bus fares and for purchases in convenience stores, taking videos, etc.

While an app would be needed for recharging the funds stored for payments, there would also need to be a special chip to react with the transaction terminals at the train wickets, payment counters, vending machines, etc.
