Camera inquiry

Recently I have installed the CS5 standard suit into my laptop, and it seems to cause problem to my camera.
Whenever I have my skype open with safari or other application (such as photoshop, indesign...), skype will tell me that there is other application using the camera/the camera is not open.
This never happen until I install the CS5.
Can anyone help me with my problem?

There are no Camera settings within the OS as a whole.
There are settings in each app's Preferences of those that can access a Camera.
I would check here.
I do not have CS 5 but I have CS 3
I would also tend to look in the File Menu > Input (Sub menu items). Mine lists My Scanner as well as some File Formats. It maybe CS 5 can also "grab" from the Internal Camera or possibly from an External. (Although I have not see this since OS 9 and a Kodak Stills camera I have that could "Snap" shots controls by the computer - I seem to remember that the Camera Software had a Twain Import Plug-in that could be seen by PhotoDelux (forerunner of Photoshop Elements). )
You may find it listed as Video import device if an external can do this.
You may need to check each CS app one at a time to see if the access is Turned Off.
I would also check System Preferences > Accounts > your account > Login Items for anything that the CS5 Install has added that might grab the Camera before you launch Skype.
AS a brody says tough the Adobe forums will provide a much quicker and surer answer.

How do I manage this error message? When I tried to install Camera 6.6 I received this application error message.

Missing camera attributes with the NI IMAQ for IEEE-1394 driver

I'm using an ORCA-AG and the IEEE-1394 driver. When i look at the camera attributes (either with MAX or the attribtue inquiry vi.) i can see just some of them (brightness, shutter,...). I have tried the ORCA-ER, which has the same attributes, but uses the PCI-1424 framegrabber. Using this camera i can see and modify more attributes (light mode,...). How can i modify them with the IEEE 1394 driver?
I also have another problem. When i use 1x1 binning the image must be 8bits, if is use 16bits, max cannot aquire the image (timeout error). Does anyone have the same problem?

Some non-standard attributes can be modified by directly reading and writing to the memory of the camera. Your camera manual probably has memory locations listed for the different attributes. You can get to these using the low level firewire routines. I have done it once or twice.

How to format my digital camera?

I have a Canon digital camera that I have used with my iPhoto program frequently for still photographs. Recently, I took some short videos with my camera and I'm not sure how to access them on my computer. I think I need to import them into iMovie, but when I try to do this, it says that no camera is detected. Can anyone guide me through this? I'm not that computer savvy, so the simpler, step by step instructions would be most helpful. Thanks!

Hi Sarah: First, your inquiry is misleading. Formatting your camera has little to do with accessing your videos. Anyway, I, too, take occasional short videos with my Kodak camera. What I do, however, is simply attach my camera to my mac, activate iPhoto, and when it tells me to, I hit the download button and all pics, both still and video, enter iPhoto's library. Then, after your through, disengage the camera ( always make sure that you turn your camera OFF before doing this).
Your video pics are easily located in the iPhoto library - they are the only ones with a small camcorder logo in the bottom left of the frame, and each video will have the length in minutes and seconds on the frame. Merely click on it and voila!, you can watch it in Iphoto. If you want to burn it to a cd, you can easily do that by placing a blank cd (or dvd) into your superdrive, and hitting the burn button. Nothing more to it! You can also import them into iDvd or iMovie, but that is another topic.
As for formating your camera, only do it if you want to completely and forever delete and otherwise erase every pic on your camera's internal drive or memory card. It's not a bad idea, actually, to reformat if you've otherwise downloaded your pics onto your mac and have them archived to an external HD or onto blank disks in case your internal hardrive goes kerplunk! Your camera's menu will direct you how to do it in a few seconds, which effectively erases every image and gives you a fully clean slate. Hope this helps. wd

Camera Raw 4.5 final release?

Now it's been four weeks since Camera Raw 4.5 Release Candidate (ACR 4.5.0.161) was brought to us via Adobe Labs. Does anyone have any issues with it? I don't. Does anyone have an idea when the final release is supposed to arrive? I feel a four-week testing period is more than adequate for a tentative version that's supposed to be a "Release Candidate" (however the plug-in calls itself "4.5 Beta" ... go figure).
Another Camera Raw version most likely will be due in October, to support all the new digital cameras and backs that (hopefully) will get introduced at Photokina in September. I wonder if that's going to be ACR 4.6 ... or will ACR 4.5 "Grand Master" (which means "final release" in Adobe speak) be deferred until then?

Actually, I am quite happy with ACR 4.5RC, and furthermore I didn't hear anybody else reporting any problems. And that's exactly why I'm wondering why the final release isn't out yet. I guess I'd be less wondering if this tentative version had been announced and communicated as Beta rather than as Release Candidate. Anyway ... I'm just curious. It does not mean I was unhappy in any way.

Use digital inputs to choose inquiry sequence?

Is it possible to use a couple of the NI-1456 CVS TTL Digital Inputs to select which specific Inquiry Sequence should be ran?
I currently own NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection. I do not own LabView.
I am using a NI-1456 CVS and firewire camera. My solution will use the NI-1456 CVS stand-alone. It will not be connected to a VGA monitor, or to a computer. I intend to use the system to detect flaws in silicon wafers. Due to several possible wafer sizes and shapes, I will have to develop an Inquiry Sequence for each wafer type. I would like to have the NI-1456 CVS unit contain several Inquiry Sequences.

Actually, this is a very commonly used feature of VBAI! From the Configuration Interface, choose Tools»Configure Inputs/Outputs. This will pop up a settings window for the entire inspection process. The second state (called "Change Inspection?") allows you to configure a Product Selection port. The digital byte written to this port will determine which inspection script to run. From the listbox, you can choose NI CVS/IMAQ IO Product Selection to use your CVS's digital input port for this feature.

Washed Out Colors When Digitizing From Mini-DV camera

Instead of renting a deck, I figured I'd just use a mini-DV camera to digitize some footage. The reasoning I'm using, is that there is NO DIFFERENCE in quality between digitizing mini-DV footage from a professional deck vs just a mini-DV camera. Is that correct?
The problem is that the footage on the LCD screen on the camera looks great. Vivid colors, solid blacks, great contrast. However, when I digitize into FCP 7 (Snow Leopard) the footage becomes murky. Washed out colors, milky blacks and hence it looks a lot more low-res than what I'm seeing on the camera's LCD screen when it digitizes.
Now, my first thought is that the screen is just compensating with more saturation and contrast. However, I'm also worried that somehow the footage isn't being brought in properly. I'm using the standard NTSC DV Anamorphic preset and capturing that way. Is there some gamma setting along the way could have affected the footage.
As it looks great on the camera's LCD, I'm wondering if there isn't some capture setting somewhere. Otherwise, I'm going have to boost the saturation and contrast to try and make the FCP footage match what I'm seeing on the camera.

We ask for specifics, because often users have inadvertently tweaked settings, or run Software Update or some other upgrade, that can affect the system as a whole, particularly FCP.
Things like... exactly which version of QT are you using? Snow Leopard loads QTX (QT10) by default, which can cause it's own issues. It is possible to load QT7 additionally, but it will go into your Utilities folder (you should be able to move it to Applications), but since I'm not versed in SL, I'll not speculate whether it's an issue for you or not.
That's one example. So, please give us exact versions/info on...

I have some doubt related to general ledger so I will explain my things
I have gone GL Account Inquiry form in that i have mentioned the project no and see the value for the month then i clicked the show balance button after that the detail value for the mont shows. Then clicked the Journal Detail in that there will be some inventory tarnsaction when i click the drilldown button show view journal detail line then to check the transaction i clicked view Transaction then some message shows as - The View Material Trxns function is not available under the GL Manager - ACG responsibility So i change right OU also then also same error came.
how to sort out the problem

Need a small favor from you... :)
You need to revisit the GL resp what you are using now.. Could you please check what is the Main menu attached to your GL Superuser Resp... and what are the menus / functions excluded from this resp..
Please follow below steps...
1) Go to System Administrator Resp --> Security --> Responsibility --> Define
2) Responsibilities form will Open... Press F11.. mention your GL Superuser Resp... (e.g. General Ledger, Vision Operations (USA)) .. press Ctrl + F11
3) Check what is the value you have at Menu, it should be... GL_SUPERUSER
4) Go to line level .. Menu exclusion Tab ... check if XLA_SL_DRILLDOWN is apperaing.. if so.. then delete it from Line.. if not.. then close this form.
*5) What you have to do now is, you need to include the submenu XLA_SL_DRILLDOWN to the GL responsibility what you are using..*
Go to System Administrator Resp --> Application --> Menu --> query on Menu "XLA_SL_DRILLDOWN"
At line level..again query for for function "XLA: INV View Material Transactions".. if it is not proesent then please add.. save it..
6) Launch "Compile Security" concurrent program
Try this.. and please let us know the result.. We believe some menus/submenus has been deleted from the main menu..

Camera RAW functionality in Photoshop and Elements

I am a Photoshop Elements user (6/Windows) and I was wondering if the Camera RAW plugin had different functionality under Photoshop when compared to Photoshop Elements. In several places over the net I have read references to fixing lens chromatic aberration in Camera RAW, however, I cannot see anything like that when I use ACR with Elements.
So - what am I missing ?

FYI Jim the calibration panel is included in PSE 6 once you install ACR 5.1. This is an example of why I asked the question - it's very hard to know what is in and out of the feature list.

I'm in the same boat. I've paid for PSE upgrades a number of times because I've found the added features useful each time. This year I swapped to LR2 and am extremely happy I made the move, but there are still times when you need a "destructive" editor. This whole line of inquiry is to see if it is worth upgrading my "destructive" editor as well.
From my perspective Adobe have gotten their product/feature mix slightly wrong. As a hobbyist it is hard to justify the additional $1000 (or more) to upgrade from PSE to CS4 as my "destructive" editor. But there are a number of features missing from PSE that it is reasonable for a hobbyist to expect or need. Somehow I don't think this imbalance will ever be resolved to my satisfaction.

Problems with Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 10 from Apple Appstore

Hi. Need some help, I have just bought Photoshop Elements 10 from Apple App Store directly from MAC. I realised a few things
1. That software directly downloads and i could not find any serial number for it
2. That software does not include Organizer, or how do i access it. It seems to be not the same as directly downloaded from adobe website
3. the Camera Raw software 6.5 does not look like full featured, it has a number of missing tabs. I tried to download the 6.6 Update and 6.5 Camera Raw Update but both could not be installed

Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 9.0.3 fails

I have been trying to update either manually or with the update function the camera raw plugin for Photoshop Elements 9 to the newest version. It keeps saying that the update has failed. I know I don't have the newest version because I can't open my .CR2 files in photoshop. Which the newest version is able to do. Please, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! I can't update anything in PSE 9.
