Camera is freaking out!

I clicked on my camera app and it just starts taking picture after picture after picture. It wont let me exit out with the back button, only the home button and then when i try to just go to my Pictures app, it wont let me access my photos or delete the ones it's freaking out and taking!
HELP

Uninstall any camera apps from the market if you have any, reboot, and try again. Or, check the trackpad for dirt, or something making it stick.

Can find my iPhone be turned on remotely? I had it turned off, and twice in the last month I've found that it is turned on and someone was tracking my location. I'm a little freaked out! Is there any way that someone could be turning "find my iPhone" on remotely? I was under the assumption that the only way to turn the service on was from my phone itself.. Is there any way that my phone is somehow resetting itself to a time when the app was turned on? I'm just grabbing straws here... I have no idea. I just know that the location arrow came on at the top of my phone, and it showed that someone was tracking my phone at that very moment... Any help would be appreciated!

Find my phone can only be enabled from the device itself.

  • Display freaking out, flashing, fan spinning

Hello all. My MBP (from about February/March) just suddenly started flashing the display when I got home today - a regular, pulsing, strobe-like flashing that makes it impossible to look at it. The fan also starts spinning like crazy, though I wouldn't say the computer seems hotter than usual.
I have rebooted, booted off the start disks, unplugged everything and rebooted again - nothing makes any difference. Trying to go to Displays in System Preferences just hangs.
I'm writing this on an external monitor at the moment, which is behaving fine, so it's something about the laptop itself. I have an appt tomorrow at the Genius Bar but I'm freaking out because I have a deadline for some work... does anyone have any ideas? It does look like a hardware thing...

Have you tried running the Apple Hardware Test? It's on Install Disc #1 of the gray discs that came with your computer. I don't know if you can run it given the way your computer is acting up, but if you can run it, you may get an error code which would point towards the cause of the problem.
Also, if you can, open Activity Monitor (in your Utilities folder in your Applications folder). Select "All Processes" at the top, and see if you have something running amok in the background that is hogging the CPU. This is something that would cause the fans to spin like crazy.
There is a "Flash Screen" option under the Hearing tab in Universal access, but I don't think that this is the problem here. You could check to see that it is turned off.
Since the problem persists even when booted from a disc, I suspect it is a hardware problem.
Do be sure you have an up to date backup before going in--there's a good chance your Mac will have to go off to be repaired.
    Good luck!

RE: my sweet old OS 9.
MY SYSTEM IS NOT CRASHED BUT MY MOUSE ARROW IS FROZEN. THIS OCCASSIONALLY HAPPENS, AND BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU IT IS NOT A HARDWARE (I.E., BAD WIRES, BAD USB PORT, BAD MOUSE) PROBLEM. WHEN MY MOUSE PROBLEMS OCCUR THEY TURN OUT TO BE A SOFTWARE ISSUE, FOR WHICH A QUICK REINSTALL TO ORIGINAL FACTORY SETTINGS ALWAYS FIXES. BUT I OBVIOUSLY CANNOT DO THAT THIS TIME BECAUSE SELECTING THE CORRECT REINSTALL OPTION REQUIRES USE OF THE AFOREMENTIONED FROZEN MOUSE ARROW (IT’S THE THIRD BULLET POINT DOWN THAT YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE FROM THE ROUTINE. OTHERWISE ITS JUST STUCK ON THE FIRST OPTION). OTHERWISE I’M FORCED TO USE ONLY WHAT I CALL THE WUSS REINSTALL OPTION THAT JUST SAVES ALL THINGS IN AN ORIGINAL ITEMS FOLDER, KEEPING THE BAD SOFTWARE LURKING ON THE SYSTEM, KEEPING THE ARROW FROZEN. SO, I’M SCREWED UNLESS I CAN ENTIRELY ERADICATE THE PROBLEMATIC SOFTWARE SOME OTHER WAY, WHICH I COULD DO IF ONLY I COULD EMPTY MY TRASH. SO:
HOW DO I EMPTY OS 9 TRASH USING ONLY KEYBOARD COMMANDS?
AND HOW DO I EVEN INSURE THAT THE LOCKED ITEMS IN THAT TRASH ALSO GET DELETED AFTER I INITIATE EMPTYING THE TRASH?

    Hi, Adam -
To use the keyboard to empty the Trash, press Command-Shift-Delete (that's the large Delete button two rows above Return).
Normally, to delete a locked item when emptying the Trash, one would press Option while selecting Empty Trash from the Special menu. However, adding Option to the Command-Shift-Delete combo does not seem to work (just tested it).
If the issue is indeed software based, it should not be at play when the machine is booted to an OS Install CD. That's one of the reasons to boot to a CD - all software on the hard drive becomes nothing more than data files; none of it is in use.
One of the main causes for such behavior when using an Apple Pro mouse is that those mouses had a defect - the wires inside the cable could fray at the point the cable leaves the mouse body, causing random open or short circuits.
Another possible cause occurs when an optical mouse overloads the non-powered hub in the keyboard. This happened to me - it finally killed the keyboard. After replacing the keyboard I came across Apple KBase Article #58649 - Apple Pro Keyboard: Devices Connected. I reconfigured my USB connection scheme so that the mouse was plugged into the powered hub in my monitor, and have not had a similar problem since.

  • Help meeeee.... iTunes is freaking out!

ITunes keeps locking up (spinning beachball) whenever I:
    1-try to eject my nano
    2-Try to quit iTunes
    3-My finder freezes too sometimes
I also cannot add music to my nano without it freaking out: beachball spins for an eternity. I've had tp manually shut down my computer several times. I've had to pull my iPod out when it says "do not disconnect." I tried TP2GO's solution here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1239525#1239525
But when the screen came up from booting with COMAND S held down, it kept timing out every 5 seconds and I simply did not have a chance to type in /sbin/fsck -fy as I he directed.
    Note-
I keep my iTunes music folder on an external. Recently I noticed some songs were not being saved there, so I manually moved them and then i went into iTunes preferences and confirmed that my music was still being saved to that folder. It was....I think.
Ever since, I've had lots of problems.
    Can anyone help????

  • Keyboard freaks out by Wacom tablet

I have, since six months, a Wacom tablet (Intous 3 with USB-connection) connected to my iMac. Everything has worked fine until now: When the tablet is connected, my keyboard freaks out and generates only strange signs (I don't know the name of the keyboard layout, but it includes a lot of mathematical symbols, an apple-logo, etc.). If I disconnect the tablet and restarts - the keyboard is as it should be again.
I have updated the wacom-driver. This didn't help.
    Any ideas?

One more thing I didn't think of before: what kind of keyboard do you have?
An apple keyboard. The new thin one with wire.
I have now tried the tablet on another computer (PC) and it worked but the LED on it flickered. Maybe because it did not get power enough? But I don't understand how this affects the keyboard?
Because the tablet and keyboard are both USB devices, there are certain things they share in common. Both are electrical devices connected to the same bus on the computer. And there would be a certain amount of commonality between their data paths once the electrical signals reach the computer. When you push a key on your keyboard, it sends an electrical signal to the computer that Mac OS X interprets as a key press. The tablet also sends electrical information to the computer, it's just interpreted differently by the computer.
This is a vastly oversimplified explanation, but suppose the keyboard sends its signals to the computer and identifies itself as USB device 1 and the tablet identifies itself as USB device 2. But the actual content of the signals each sends is pretty much the same, just data that represents a series of numbers. It's really important, then, for OS X to be able to distinguish between them, because the signal from the keyboard for pressing the letter "a" might be the same as the signal from the tablet when you click at a pixel 20 in from the left and 67 in from the top, with a pressure of 50%.
So, how would OS X be confused between the keyboard and tablet? It could happen for an electrical reason. For example, only part of the data from the tablet or keyboard gets to the computer, but enough that OS X can at least try to interpret it. Or, once the data gets from the tablet or keyboard, the software that listens to the USB devices tells OS X the wrong thing about the information it received. Each USB device has an associated driver that interprets the signals from that device and tells OS X what to do. There could be a bug in a driver that would take the signal from Device 2 (the tablet) and assume it came from Device 1 (keyboard), and then send OS X the wrong information. But I think it's less likely to be a keyboard driver bug if you use the default Apple driver, which you'd use with one of their keyboards.
The LED on the tablet flickering makes it sound like a problem in the tablet itself or with its USB cable, and not a problem with the software on your Mac. If you know someone else with a tablet who could let you borrow theirs for a short time, that would also be helpful. If their tablet works, and doesn't interfere with the keyboard, then you know it's more likely to be the tablet itself and not your computer.
One other thing is to move the keyboard and tablet to different USB ports on your iMac. I think you have four to choose from, right? Perhaps there's something wrong with one of the ports on the computer, a bent pin or maybe a piece of dust that's causing a connection not to be made.

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • My Ipod touch is freaking out!

This just started happening about a week ago...it seems to be ok when you first turn it on, but after a few moments..it freaks out. For instance, my keyboards--with whatever app, beit email or notes or a game..I try to type a letter--it types everything BUT that letter. And none of the erase buttons work to go back. On the Music--I keep trying to go to Playlists and it keeps flipping to Artists and pursues its own songs! Sometimes I don't even have to touch the Ipod--I just get my finger near it and it picks up the button it thinks I'm trying to touch and goes to whereever! It's like its possessed! It will cut in the middle or beginning of a song and go to whatever other song. It's not on shuffle or genious or whatever...I did a full reset by holding down the two buttons, but that only temporary fixes it. I can't type anything on it because it presses its own letters uncontrollably. Please help..this is a brand new Ipod I just got for Christmas. I didn't get it wet, I've been very careful with it. I do not want a refurb! I have lots of stuff on this 32G! :((

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore:

  • [N97 mini] phone freaks out when I want to pick up...

Is there some sort of workaround, tweak or app available that can prevent my phone from freaking out when I want to receive a phone call? It is simply impossible to see who is calling because the display will not display anything for a few seconds when it's rotated. It is also not possible to use the slider keys to pick up or decline the call. Is there some way to prevent the display from rotating without disabling auto rotating all together?

    1. iTunes Menu > Store > Authorize This Computer
    2. iTunes Menu > Store > Sign in
    3. iTunes prefs > Devices > Prevent .... from syncing automatically
    4. With iTunes open, connect phone
    5. iTunes Menu > File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
    6. iTunes Menu > File > Devices > Backup
Now safe to sync.  You will lose any music/media on the phone that was NOT purchased from the iTunes Store (i.e. ripped CD's, MP3's from other sources)

I wrote my apple ID questions in 5th grade, and am in 9th now, so I can notremember them. my emergency email with the info was deleted, so I can not change them, and for some reason, my birht date will not go through, so I must have put the wrong thing in 5th grade, and I am freaking out! What do I do?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • Display on iMac freaking out

My wifes iMac (Intel 2.66 GHz/1 G Ram/ 20" display)has recently began to freak out with numerous blank blocks on the screen (up to 12) opening up when switching applications. It doesn't happen when working in an app, only switching between apps. The blocks can not be closed on the screen, they are frozen. You must shut the computer down and reboot to continue working. Sort of like Expose going nuts. Has anyone run into this situation? Any advise?

Unless this happens only when playing a video, you'll probably want to ask this question in either the iMac or Mac OS X forums since it's probably not a QuickTime problem per se.
    Regards.
