Camera is green

I've only had my Lumia 820 for a little over a week and it has been working fine. This morning the camera worked perfect but now when I turn on the camera it just shows a green screen and the pictures are green. The phone hasn't been dropped or even been sat down hard. I haven't changed any of the settings since I used it either. What could be wrong with it?

Hi GeorgiaPeach,
Welcome to the forum!
You can try these steps and see if it will make any difference:
Power cycle
1. Turn off the phone then remove the back cover and the battery.
2. Reinsert the battery and the back cover then turn on your phone.
Reset your camera settings
1. Go to Settings.
2. Swipe to Application settings.
3. Choose Photos+camera.
4. Select Reset camera.
If the issue still persists, you can try to perform the steps provided on this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2749480. If the steps on the link will not work, I suggest that you visit the nearest Nokia repair facility for it to be repaired. See this link: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/ to check the  repair facility near your area.

hello, my eyesight issue happens occasionally, from time to time i run multiple apps that use the isight camera. when i close each app the isight camera's green light is still active. When that happens the only way to stop the isight camera is to reboot.
Is there a way to use activity monitor to identify and kill the process controlling the isight? My apologies in advance if this sounds windows (task manager) like.
    Thanks

com/kb/HT2411: Your camera can be used by only one application at a time.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  • My isight camera has green speckles

My isight camera has green speckles/dots in it when i open it with Photo Booth.  I have tried a smc reset and pram reset, i was hoping it was just a visual bug, but it actually has the green dots/speckles in the photos I take with the isight camera.

Contacted apple care, booked into Genius Bar at my local apple store
Genius at local store: ran some apple diagnostics called MRI
macbook would not post video in MRI
booked in my macbook pro for replacement screen (clamshell) where the camera also resides
wait 5 days, return to store to collect macbook.
Open macbook instore, boot into osx, open photo booth and green speckles are still there.  Apple employee says that its not a screen problem (obviously) and that it could be the GPU and advised me to leave macbook in store for a genius to have another look at it.  I told the apple employee that the GPU is not a replaceable part and I was told that it was up to a genius to decide.
required macbook to complete assignment, so will book it back in afterwards

  • All of a sudden my iPhone 5s restarts alone and the camera takes green pictures

All of a sudden my iPhone 5s restarts alone and now the camera takes green pictures
I have the iOS 7.1 and for four months it's been working great, not now

First thing to try is a reset: Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
If this doesn't help, back up and restore via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test. If the problem is solved, there is some kind of corruption in your backup file or maybe it's one of your apps causing problems. If it continues, take it to an Apple Store for evaluation of a possible hardware problem.

  • Is there a way to switch off by default the video on FaceTime? I only ever use this app for audio/calls and hate the video being on. I especially hate that if I leave the app open to receive calls it means the camera and green light are on.

My issue is that I can't find a way to have the camera switched off when the app is open and so this means if I want the app open all day to receive calls then the camera is going to be on the whole time. Even if it didn't potentially drain the battery, or add to the CPU usage or whatever else may cause any problems whatsoever (wheel of death!), I just don't want the camera on as I don't see myself ever wanting to use the video call feature but I would use the audio/call multiple times throughout the day to make and receive calls. The camera being on when the app is open is enough to prevent me from using the app. Also ever since seeing that episode of criminal minds where if you saw the green light on above the screen then it meant the killer was watching you!
Basically I just can't believe there isn't a way to disable the camera whilst having the app running. I know when initiating an audio call the camera goes away, but I would like the camera away the whole time. To me it just would make sense that if you click the video option then the camera is on, and if you click the audio option then the camera goes off. It just seems waaaaay to basic a thought for apple to have missed... Let's face it, we're not all as pretty as the people in the apple adverts and don't want to see our ugly mugs staring back as us when we work all day at our macs!

I have exactly the same concern. It seems it would be a simple fix for Apple to allow users to turn off the camera (and even the mic) while keeping FaceTime open -- especially now that it turns out FaceTime must remain open in order to send and receive iPhone calls on a Mac.
I like to think this new functionality of FaceTime will be baked into a future release of Yosemite, as the current setup has that not-quite-finished feel of a work in progress. In the meantime, there's nothing like a little piece of Post-It stuck over the camera to keep the NSA from watching your face as you type a post to the Apple Support Communities.

  • Iphone 3G camera has green and purple stripes

I have a 3G iphone that was working perfectly. All of the sudden, these green and purple "noise" lines started showing up just in the camera app. I restored the software and that didn't get rid of it. I also pinched the case to see if maybe something was loose- still no go.
I know that I'm not the first person to experience this problem but I was wondering if someone had figured out what exactly is causing the problem. Is it the camera itself? Like I said, it was working fine.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Phil

it was from the display protector on the screen?
Most likely that is the reason.  I have a screen protector on and see similar issues when the iPhone is not on.  They're not noticeable when turned on.  Remove it and see the difference.

  • How do I connect camera in new BackBook Pro?  Face Time says no camera connected; green light above screen is on

How do I connect camera in new MacBook Pro?  FaceTime says no camera connected, yet the green light at top of display, by camera, is on.

Assuming you have set up your Preferences correctly in Skype, sometimes Skype doesn't seem to automatically trigger the camera. When that happens just click on the camera icon that appears at the bottom of the screen when making a call:

I have an intel 20" imac and was going to install bootcamp. I have updated the firmware and now have the same issue with the photo booth green screen. I can see my camera in imovieHD and recorded videoitw hout any problem.
I have decided not to proceed with the actual bootcamp until I find the reason for this, and to check nothing else has happened.

  • Lost my camera, but green "on" light always on

I have a one-week old Macbook 2.4 with 2 GB ram. Yesterday I suddenly noticed that my Isight camera was always "on" (i.e. the green light was on.) I wasn't operating any programs. However, when I tried to test if it was working, I got a message saying it was not connected. I used "picture booth" and nothing happened. I did the trick of resetting (removing the battery) and it still didn't work.
I did a clean reinstall of the operating system using the recovering disks. Still has the permanent "green" light. I then updated my software, and now it works.
What caused this? What can I do to make sure it doesn't happen again?

This kind of situations are rare. If it does happen again, just download the combo updaters for the specific OS version and reinstall it. Sounds troublesome, doesn't it. If you're fed-up with having to do it all the time, then just bring it in.

  • ITouch camera blinks green and black, sometimes purple

I have an iTouch 4G and a few months ago I dropped it, there are cracks but everything worked fine, now after five months the camera will not work. The screen blinks green and black and sometimes purple, I reset it, restored it, but it still doesnt work. I'm sure it wasn't from dropping it because it's the camera on the back that does not work. I'm still eligible for the warranty but will they not honor it because of the cracked screen? Thanks

Apple will exchange your iPOd for a refurbished one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.
Accidental damage like dropping the iPod voids the warranty for the entire iPod.

  • My isight camera is green

When I open photo booth to take pictures with the camera, the screen is just green and wont show me or anything else. If I hit the camera button to take a picture, it will just take a green picture. Has anyone else had this or know what I should do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, JacquelynMurray
The green screen problem is not uncommon, but neither is it universal.
Here are the solutions that help most users who encounter green-screen problems with their iNtel Macs. None are complicated, but the only way to find which one will work for you is to try them one-by-one until you find the one that fixes your MacBook.
    (1) Check your System Preferences as explained in this kbase article about Built-in iSight camera produces blue or green pictures.
    (2) If your System Preferences are set correctly, try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article.
Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
If you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting, see this Help article.
    (3) If resetting or the other suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
    • Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (iNtel).
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
    (4) A few iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging EVERYTHING (including power and peripherals) from their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight.
    (5) If none of these suggestions help, contact Apple or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional check.

  • Security Camera with Green Light?

So I bought the notebook webcam for the main purpose of motion detection. Maybe I am not seeing it but it is hard to conceal that I am doing that with the bright green light always on. Is there any way to disable?

    Michphoto48843,
No real way to disable this light, however you may be able to just cover it with a small piece of cardboard paper or something similar. Often a low tech solution will work as well as a high tech one.

  • My MacBook Air is not allowing me to see others or myself during gchat but the green camera light above my screen is working. The pictures worked earlier today and all of a sudden they're no longer present.

My MacBook Air is not allowing me to see myself and others during gchat. The little light beside the camera goes green, so it's working but I still cannot view anything. I have used the camera and computer for gchatting with no problems previously. Thanks!!

Then, out of the blue, the original ID for my AE shows up on the iMac and phone and when I selected it my Wi-Fi worked, and is working.
My first thought is that the AirPort Express is normally good for 4-5 years on average, so you may be getting some signals in that regard.
The AirPort Express reset itself back to factory default settings. The big question now is if you re-configure it again whether it will hold those settings.  Not likely....my opinion.
The other problem that you have is that Mountain Lion operating system no longer supports the older version of the AirPort Express that you have.
Oh, and incidentally, my AE was cutting off a lot about a year ago and I took it into an Apple Store and they did something with the software in the device and the cutting off improved but still would occur at least twice a week
It's really time for a new AirPort Express, which will offer much faster reliable performance....and it will be compatible with AirPort Utility on the Mountain Lion operating system.
