Camera issue - stretch marks - Z1 in M mode, 8MP, iso 800-3200, indoor, hi-shutter speed

I tried to read some pages of the forum, but cannot find the similar issues. I am quite surprised if this issue isn't discovered since 6 months. (or it is common not a problem? please correct me.)
As mentioned in captioned, when in high iso and high shutter speed, there are serious stretch marks. The higher the more visible. Please refer to the photos below:
Photo 1: M mode, 8M pixel, f/2, 1/1600s, ISO-3200, in side a restaurant with no window
Photo 2: M mode, 8M pixel, f/2, 1/500s, ISO-3200, in side a restaurant with no window
Photo 3: M mode, 8M pixel, f/2, 1/125s, ISO-100, in my office at night
Photo 4: M mode, 8M pixel, f/2, 1/1000s, ISO-800, in my office at night
Photo 5: M mode, 8M pixel, f/2, 1/2000s, ISO-1600, in my office at night
From the Photos above, it is shown that my Z1 cannot take any photo properly INDOOR. When the light is stronger enough (in office/ factory/ laboratory), there are stretch marks even in ISO-100!
I had tried several Z1(s), from my collegues, friend, retail shop and even the display model in Sony's Customer Service Centre (Hong Kong), they all have this problem. The staff of Sony's Centre told me that all the Z1 have this problem and therefore they cannot replace / help.
I had tried with other cell phone / digital camera / DSLR, they do not have this problem. This is not common.
It is believed that Sony is professional in digital camera technology (refer to A7, A7R), and the 20M pixel DC quality camera is the selling point of Z1 and may be Z2. There should be an solution for this issue.

Hi, I had took some photos from my 7-year-old Fuji F100fd and 4-year-old Google Nexus One under same light source for comparison:
Photo Z1-1: Xperia Z1, ISO-400 , f/2, 1/160s, 8MP
Photo Z1-2: Xperia Z1, ISO-1600 , f/2, 1/640s, 8MP
Photo FJ-1: Fujifilm F100fd, ISO-400, f/3.3, 1/52s, 12MP
Photo FJ-2: Fujifilm F100fd, ISO-3200, f/3.3, 1/400s, 12MP
Photo FJ-3: Fujifilm F100fd, ISO-6400, f/3.3, 1/850s, 3MP
Photo N1-1: Google Nexus One, ISO-100, 5MP (No info provided in Exif)
Photo N1-2: Google Nexus One, ISO-1250, 5MP (No info provided in Exif)
From photos FJ-1 to FJ-3 by Fuji DC, no matter how high ISO and fast shutter speed, there is no stretch line in photo by Fuji DC. There means it is technically feasible to fix the stretch line problem.
From photos N1-1 to N1-2 by Google Nexus One, there are stretch lines only when ISO-1250 but very light and colourless. It seems more acceptable.
From photos Z1-1 to Z1-2 by Xperia Z1, stretch lines appear from ISO-200 to ISO-3200 and they are bold, dark and colour like stain. It is certainly unacceptable...
I hope I can get a solution on this issue. I wonder if other Z1 owners got the same problem?

  • G Series Cameras -- Longest Shutter Speed in Av Mode

Is there any way to get a shutter speed longer than 1 second using a G camera (I use the G1X) ?
I have been using Av and Auto Exposure Bracketing to get some twilight shots that I would like to process using HDR.  I would like all to be taken with the same f/stop (so I don’t want to use ‘Safety Shift’).  The problem is that, using Av/AEB (normally the easiest way to bracket for HDR) I am bumping into the 1 second Av Shudder Speed Limit.
Is there any way, using a G1X, that I can get 3 shots, taken with one button press, and have all 3 exposure shot with the same f/stop and ISO, such that the longest shutter speeds can go beyond the 1 second limit?
    Thanks,
    Harry

That is what I was afraid of.  That is not a good option for HDR because it is virtually imposible to adjust the settings and reactivate the shutter without moving the camera a little (at least with the small gorilla pod that I use with this camera that I bought because I wanted somethig excellent but very portable.)
I hope Canon removes the training wheels from the G1X II.
This would not have been an issue 10 years ago (i.e., G3) becuae HDR wasn't really popular back then; it is huge now.

  • Shutter speeds in video mode

I just read the T3i cannot autofocus in video mode, true?
On T5i can the shutter speed be set when taking video?  Sometimes I need fast shutter so fast moving objects are not blurred.

    Hi erokc!
    Thank you for posting.
The EOS Rebel T3i can autofocus, but it works the same as when you are shooting still images.  You need to activate autofocus every time you want the camera to focus the lens and before you start recording.  Continuous autofocus is not possible.
When shooting movies in manual on the EOS Rebel T5i, the shutter speed, aperture and ISO can be set manually.

  • I am frequently experiencing Iphone 5 camera issues, while taking photos all of the sudden the camera going to hang mode

    Hi,
    Greetings !!!
I would like to know what is the root cause of Iphone camera hanging ?
I am very frequently experiencing Iphone 5 camera issues like while taking photos all of the sudden the camera going to hang mode with full of pink & black line.
I noticed while camera app turns ON the phone going to hand.
I went to apple services server with this problem & they said they didn't see any errors.
Kindly response with my request, and provide me the solution.
    Thannks & regards,
    -Vamsi

That often happens with cameras when you take pictures of a computer screen. LCD screens "flicker" and the camera will often catch the flicker.

  • A7000 camera issue

I'm using Lenovo A7000-a almost a month. The one an only annoying issue is 'camera', specifically Rear Cam. Also assure that other users are facing this problem too...
    * Rear camera is not 'upto the mark' , not even satisfactory.
At low budget phone we can't expect too much, but can expect a decent one.
After the update 'camera issue' [ Build no. - A7000-a_S133_150424_ROW ] nothing noticeably changed.
    * Too much noise on even daylight photos.
    * Focus time is too much. Even it cannot properly focus an object...
( It's focusing the object quite well, but the time when it takes the shot, it took dull photos )
*** this is the main reason, why I'm posting here-
    >in low light photo , HDR ON mode, took pictures almost in focus, but the over all picture brightness goes down.
    >>in low light photo , HDR OFF mode & Flash on, took pictures is not in focus. it cannot focus the picture at all !!!
    >>>in normal light photo , HDR on & Macro Shot, took pictures almost in focus, but when captured its out of focus!!! Same prob when Flash is on... ***
I'm tested two other A7000-a phones, all have same problem...
Also using A6000. It can take better shots rather than A7000!!!!
understand the that front cam is not up to the mark, it can happen low end budget phone... but Rear cam!!!
Please, consider a update can fix focusing problem... i understand that noises comes from the sensor of the camera, but focusing problem you guys can fix this...
I must say that, the update for camera was a dull one.. Please roll out a good update.
I'm just saying for a better update...
The phone looks good, spec are good , but this camera pulled it back...

Everybody facing these types of probleme with tha camera...
The camera is not able to focus after giving flash in low light whereas other phones are easily able 2 do....
Lenovo's first update didn't give any changes to the camera...
Lenovo..i'll be eagerly waiting for your next update with improved camera... Competing with other phone in the market..

  • MacBook Air 2013 with Mavericks 10.9.1 has Facetime HD Camera issues

Hi, I've been using a new 2013 MacBook Air with 10.9.1 for the last 3 weeks (I used to have a 2010 Macbook Pro 15 with Mavericks) and the Facetime HD camera is having issues being detected by different applications.
In my case I mainly use Google Hangouts, Skype, and sometimes Facetime. The problem lies on that the camera sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't.
I usually reboot the camera with 'sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant' and that makes it work, but it shouldn't be like that.
Please note that this was not happening with my 2010 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. I changed to this new 2013 MacBook Air only 3 weeks ago. Nevertheless, people that I work with (who use retina macbooks with Mavericks) are not having this issue.
Last week I had to install a plugin (in chrome) for a new online site similar to Hangouts called BlueJeans. Bluejeans very seldomly recognizes the cam, only when I reboot it with the 'line' above or reboot the machine. The people I work with didn't have any issues, so I suspect this has to do with 2013 MacBook Air's Facetime HD cameras which might be different to the rest, or too new on the market.
It's as if when I start using it in Hangouts and then hang, later it might not work in Skype, or viceversa.
If you can help, that'll be great, and I appreciate it. Nevertheless, I feel Apple must take care of this in the next Mavericks update (many people are having camera issues).
    Jimmy

    Hi Jal1980
    I had the same pb...
On my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 I Had a problem with my video on skype, facetime, photoboot....
I have tried all the solution offered in every forum and never got to a satisfying result. I downgraded to mountain lion from mavericK without result. I reseted the Pram or SMC (I forgot), and other things, I played with the plugin /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/, I tried several version of skype.... NONE of this solution worked....
Until that day a friend came to my place and installed AppleJack for Mac, a free software (http://download.cnet.com/AppleJack/3000-2094_4-40293.html) that totally solved this issue amongst others...
Here is the full page of the program http://applejack.sourceforge.net/man.html
And here quick instructions on how to use the program. Have fun!
Restart your computer. After you hear the startup chime, press and hold down the
Cmd and s keys together (this will put you in single user mode). You should soon get a Terminal-type screen with a dramatic garble of indecipherable messages and a shell prompt that looks something like [root#]
    2. Now, type applejack at the prompt. (If you’ve installed applejack manually, or have not created an alias to applejack for the root user, you may have to enter the full path to the script at the prompt.) You will be guided through a series of steps that will repair your drive and delete possibly corrupted files. Options are selected by typing the number corresponding to the task you want to perform, and then hitting the return key. For example, when you see a few different options, like this:
[1] Option One [2] Do something else [3] Another task [4] A useful task
From time to time, in interactive mode, you will be asked to answer yes or no to a question. To answer yes, type y and hit the return key. To answer no, type n and hit the return key.
An advantage of using the interactive mode instead of auto mode is that you are given options for also cleaning out user-level caches and preference files. If you would like to clean out your main admin user caches, for example, you will need to use interactive mode.
    3. Auto mode: If you want to leave
applejack to do it’s own thing, just choose option [a] when the script starts. You can also start right up in auto mode by typing: applejack auto at the prompt. applejack will run through all the basic cleanup tasks in order. Alternatively, you can also type applejack auto restart which will tell applejack to do the cleanup tasks and then automatically restart your computer. Other options are: applejack auto shutdown which tells AppleJack to shut down the computer after running its tasks, or applejack AUTO shutdown which tells AppleJack to run automatically in "deep cleaning" mode (see above) and then shut down.
I hope this helps. It completely solved my issue.

  • Nokia 808 Pureview camera issues: ISO and shutter ...

    Hello,
From time to time I have experienced some issues with the 808. I am not really concerned with the hang and reboots but it is irritating when the camera does not work as you expect it to
    1) Random hang and reboots: Can' really reproduce on demand but have seen it happen when you are using the camera and an SMS comes. I have seen more often when I am getting loads of messages on Whatsapp at once when camera is also on. The notifications keep popping up at the top and the entire phone goes for a toss. The screen might just go blank and only option is to reboot. Also at times the screen goes blank and you see the scrolling dots at the bottom just like when the phone boots.
It may be a whatsapp issue but I have also seen the phone hang reboot when not using whatsapp
    2) Dark pictures when adjusting ISO:
->Pictures(1 & 2) of the cat were taken at SAME ISO settings. You can clearly see how one picture is bright like you would expect but the second pic is totally dark. Why this difference with the same exact settings?
NOTE: If you check the properties of these 2 images, the ISO is the same but the Exposure time on the bright picture is 2.9 seconds wheras the dark one is 1/3 seconds.
->The second set of picture(3 & 4) was taken outside in daylight. The bright picture is taken at ISo-50. It came out as expected. Then I increased it to ISO-800. As you can see the picture is completely dark in broad daylight.
Note: Image properties of the bright picture shows exposure 1/143 seconds and the dark picture shows 1/2146 seconds ??? Now thats a very fast shutter speed
-> SLOW automatic shutter speed: As mentioned in http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Several-severe-Issues-with-the-Nokia...
Pictures of objects in motion are always blurry. Also I assure you my hand isn't shaky. Even i think the auto shutter speed is very low because almost every moving object i click is blurred. Dont expect it from this camera.
Check out picture number 5. It was taken in Creative mode with everything set to AUTO. There is sufficient light however you can see the face on the right is blurred. As you can see, a perfectly good moment could not be captured perfectly because of this blur. The head wasnt too fast to cause such a level of blur. Its almost impossible to take sharp live action shots because of this.
-> Shutter sound lag: Again from:http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Several-severe-Issues-with-the-Nokia...
When clicking with low ISO settings, the shutter takes more that 2-3 seconds but the shutter sound comes as soon as you click. Because of the sound the subject things that picture has been clicked and moves causing blurred pics. Can you make the sound come only AFTER the picture has been completely clicked.?

I am only to be able to help you on the pictures part.
1 and 2. I do notice that the picture 1 is brighter compared to the picture 2. It is hard to say that the sky was focused on the picture 2 as the sky is blurred, which means the cat is right in focus. But, you can make them brighter by increasing the exposure value and the ISO. Another possibility is you're focusing on the sky but it is out of focus.
For number 3 and 4, try it again, just to make sure. It shouldn't work like that.
For picture 5, try increase the exposure value as this may decrease the shutter lag. Another way to frezze the moving objects is by using the Xenon flash.
    Hope this helps.
If I have helped you in any way, give me a kudos!

  • Z1C camera issues - manufacturing date? recall?

    Hi,
I went through the whole thread about the camera issues.
Sadly I got a bad phone as well (black version).
The flash leakage isn't the only problem, the camera looses focus during video shooting as well, and the most bothering thing is the photo quality on regular photos (manual mod, different ISO, whatever..) which is poor even compared to the Galaxy S2 !!
I was very dissapointed, and it seems the local retailer isn't familiar with the issue..
I'm willing to wait but I am afraid suffering users will be forgotten and Sony will focus on the Z2/compact/whatever they will release next...
I read in the xda forums a review that shows much better results from the camera
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663132
Is it possible that just the first models have this problem?
Maybe we can figure out from the manufacturing date something?
Mine was manufactured on Oct. 2013, black version.
    What do you think?
    Thanks !!

Hi to all Sony fans the camera is actually very good but the thing that screwed it up is the stuperior auto that is **bleep** the owsome hardware under the hood, regarding flash bleeding iam not seeing any bleed,so after testing i found the follwoing results for owsome pics:
1-iso 50 for shooting 0 to 1 meter far away from the object.
2-iso 100 for shooting 1 to 2 meter far away from the object.
3-iso 200 for shooting 2 meter and above.
or use camera zoom x its not great as manual mode but it is way better than stuperior auto if u want to shoot good photos at great speed in the dark  well its android so there is alternative to any **bleep** app
for shooting a single face but the focus on face detection, for multiple or large objects but the focus on multiple autofucos
Down ul find the pics the blured and ugly from stuperior auto the good one are from applying these modes:

Product - White 808 pureview from France
    Product Code - 059M7Q4
    Software Version - 112.020.0309.C09.01
    Hi all
I received my 808 on Monday and started snapping away on Tuesday
    I've encountered a few problems
    1) the viewfinder (screen) will go black, I can see the camera UI but I can't see anything else
If I press down on the camera shutter the 808 will still save the picture of whatever I've being pointing at
    2) everything will be working fine (ui/viewfinder/settings) but the moment I snap a picture nothing will be saved except for a blank/black jpeg file
this is very very annoying its happened 3x in my use, in succession, and the shot is lost i wasn't able to retake it :/
I've included the 3 original files of the blank images with the hope that maybe something can be gleaned from them
    3) the Histogram won't always load  when setting the exposure in creative mode
    and
    4) camera lags when the ND Filter is on it isn't able to show on screen the changes in exposure settings
I've been told some others have had the same issue so hopefully this isnt a defective unit and its something that can be fixed with firmware as Id hate to have to ship my phone off :/

    Regarding video camera.
    1. Is ND filter available in video camera? I couldn't find it and it definitely should, to prevent excessively high shutter speed, typical for other compact camera video recording
    2. Frame rate. Data from media info:
    Frame rate mode                  : Variable
    Frame rate                       : 24.000 fps
Minimum frame rate               : 23.962 fps
Maximum frame rate               : 24.038 fps
Original frame rate              : 48.000 fps
    Scan type                        : Progressive
The ideal frame rate should be 23.976 (constant, or at least centred around it), in order to use the footage with other video cameras. It looks the framerate is centred around 24.0.
    I haven't checked 25 and 30fps yet.
Incidenally Sony Vegas 9.0 shows 100fps under properties of the clip (it was the same for N8).
These little things would better be resolved if the wonderful camera is to be used for proper video making.

  • Retina MBP Camera Issue?

I purchased a 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display around Christmas time in 2012, and right when I opened it up I noticed the camera was pretty bad. I searched online and found that others were having similar issues or it could've just been the lighting. Early January or a little after Christmas (I don't remember exactly when) I took my computer to the apple store in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and they told me it was "just fine." They looked at the camera and compared it to others in the store and said it was okay. This summer, a family member of mine purchased the 2013 13" Macbook Air and I noticed that the camera quality was very good and clear, especially compared to mine. The camera is slow to respond to movement, and has a low frame rate. The picture also just looks pretty bad and pixelated. Also, when I skype with a friend of mine I notice her camera quality looks much better than mine, and she is on a 2010 Macbook Pro. I paid around $1700 for this computer so I should be getting one that works perfectly fine. Is there anything I can do to fix the camera issue or is there any chance of getting it replaced by Apple? What makes me angry is the fact that the Apple Store told me it was fine when it clearly isn't.

Go to another apple store. Also tell them, if it looks fine in the store, take it into a darker room. These camera's have differen't ISO's and yours could be "fine" in the clear day light but may not be when it's sensor doesn't have enough light. This can be due to a number of factors. But they have to fix it because it's under a year old. You just got to find a way to prove it.
You need to find the situation where it looks at it's worse and see how the lighting is and show them that. If you hold shift command and 3 at the same time it'll take a screen shot of your camera. That makes a picture of it which you can show also.
There are different camera's in different year's models also though. For example, my thunderbolt display camera is much better than the camera on my MacBook pro, they are both from 2012.

Have you checked your "Import" settings for "Raw&Jpeg" pairs in the "Import" panel?
You can set Aperture to import raw, jpeg, or raw&jpeg.
If you imported Raw&Jpeg, but have set Aperture to use the Jpeg as original, you will see the imported image as Jpeg image, not as a raw image, even if the raw has also been imported. You can switch between Raw and Jpeg originals for selected images from the Photos menu:
Photos > Use Raw as original.
