Camera orientation question

I know that the camera on some Pearl models is horizontal, and other models have a vertical camera.  I'm looking at buying a case for my phone (Pearl 8120) that lumps the 8110, 8120, and 8130 all together, and has the 8100 separate.  I'm just trying to verify that the 8100 is the only model with a vertical camera, and the 8110, 8120, and 8130 all have the horizontal version.

No. LR has its own version of Camera Raw built-in. It doesn't use the Photoshop plugin. LR2 effectively has 4.5 built-in.

    Hello,
i look for a way to setting the camera orientation.
If i get the camera , and attach it to a video, the camera is always on landscape orientation. If i try to rotate the video to have a pseudo portrait orientation, nothing appear on the video.
Is there a way to natively set the camera oreintation ?
    Thank!

I am also looking for a solution for this.
could u share a solution if you found anything so far.

  • FaceTime default camera orientation

Is there a way to change the default camera orientation for facetime to landscape on my MacPro?
Something I could write in terminal maybe?
    Cheers

Lars Hansen wrote: Is there a way to change the default camera orientation for facetime to landscape on my MacPro?...
Not that I know, Lars.  FT is not scriptable, and its preferences file does not allow storing default orientation.
Lars Hansen wrote: ... Something I could write in terminal maybe?...
Even if I could find or write some Automator, AppleScript, or Terminal method to change orientation, I cannot imagine any that would be easier to execute than the "⌘R" that changes FaceTime's orientation to Landscape once a FaceTime connection is made.
You may want to join me and send your specific suggestion for this directly to Apple.  Use  Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.  You are unlikely to get a response, but you can be certain that the responsible Apple people will see your input for consideration in the FaceTime product development process.

  • Camera orientation (issue) while the orientation is fixed

    Hi!
Iam using iphone 4, and i found a very nasty thing, i dont know its an "issue" or just a logical bumping, anyway its very annoying.
While the portrait orientation is fixed, the camera orientation is going to be fixed aswell, but of course most of the people are turning while shooting (especially video) by 90 degrees, and because of the fixed orientation, the created video is going to be disoriented.
So i think the camera has to be excludes from the "globalized" orientation fixing, even its locked too. And of course after a wrong shooting, there is no way to fix this on the phone directly..
    Any tips, or advice ?
    Cheers,
    Ku5i

  • Transfer HD video from canon dslr to iPad 2 via cam kit Question!

    Hey all.
    I have a Canon DSLR that records 1080p HD video at 24, 25 & 30 fps and 720p HD video at 50 & 60 fps.
I have an iPad first generation with a ipad cam kit for transferring video and photos. It transfers photos just fine, but with video, it can't transfer full 1080p clips at all directly from the camera using the USB cam kit connector or via SD card using that adaptor. Nor will it transfer 720p clips using the cam kit unless the clips are not more than 30 fps. Since the canon t3i dslr shoots 720p video at 60 fps, the video is not viewable unless I first transfer it thru my iMac at home and THEN load it on the iPad.
Since I travel a lot, this is not convenient for me.
I want to be able to transfer my HD movies directly onto my iPad while on the road and edit them and then upload them to my travel blog or YouTube.
The first gen iPad cannot run the new iMovie app. Only the new iPad 2 can. So I was thinking of upgrading to the iPad 2.....
HOWEVER...I want to know if I will have the same problem trying to transfer my HD video directly from my canon t3i DSLR via the cam kit while on the road so that I can view and edit the clips on my iPad 2?
I know getting the MacBook air is an option, but I prefer traveling with the iPad. I just want to know if any video/photographers who have the new iPad 2 and canon dslr can answer my questions.
    Thanks so much.
    Cheers.

Yes, they will transfer as long as they are in 720p. However, you might want to check this if you are willing to try. Might save you from having to buy a new iPad?

  • Camera Connection questions...

I have a couple questions about the iPad Camera Connection that I have not been able to find answers for on the forum:
    1. Does the Photo app recognise already imported images if you leave images on your camera after importing and want to import newly shot ones? or does it import them all again?
    2. I use a Canon 5D Mk2 - I've read that the iPad cannot play the movies, however does it still import them from the camera and then allow you to transfer them to your laptop later?
    thanks!

For your first question, the answer is no. It will ask if you want to import an old (already imported) image just like it asks for a new image. At least that is how it works with my ipad.

  • Cisco WVC210 WLAN Camera - multicasting question

    Hello,
it act's about the CISCO WC210 WLAN Camera, I would be really happy, if somebody could help us to eliminate our problem
    Informatiom
We are using the WVC210 WLAN-Cameras (http://ww:w.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9948/), this camera has a web server, so is accessible over a normal web-browser, to see the video transmission.
We just set it up with a normal WLAN-Router, so the camera is connected wireless to the router, and this router is connected to the internet (WAN).
With the cisco video-software or the web-interface, it's now possible to stream the video.
    Our questions:
Now we like to stream the Video on our Website, so people what visit our site can take a look at our company and so on.
We are able to stream the Video with the MJEPG-Format, like the camera web-interfaces offers...
The problem is, with normal ip-transfer method, each user would connect directly to the camera and increases the data-transfer, the internet-connection will than overload easily.
But the camera supports multi-casting,  so the camera only transmit one data stream and all clients connected to this stream will receive the packages.
Our problem is, we do not have any knowledge about multi-casting and how it works, the camera has a normal ip-address and a pre-configured multicast address with group name, so how can we connect a client to this multicast group, without increasing the data-transfer with each new user?
Would you recommend us to use the multicast function of this camera or put a server between the camera and the website?
Could you give as advice or some kind of tutorial, how we can set up this multicast service and easily get a player for the stream on our website, without using many plug ins or special apps ?
Looking forward for your help, thank you all
    Regards
    Markus
P.s.: You can also reply in german

Hi, your general understanding of multicast is correct, but I don't think there is any multicast in general use on the Internet today.  In the mid 1990's there was a thing called MBONE that experimented with this idea for basically the same application as you describe- to multicast video.  Check Google or wikipedia for some history of MBONE in case you are interested. That said, you should be able to use the multicast ability on your own LAN/WAN environment if that helps you at all.
I think the way people stream video to many users via the Internet today is essentially by having a lot of bandwidth and CPU.  You could probably find places to host your video and 'rebroadcast' it via their servers and Internet bandwidth.   Take a look a qik.com for an example of something that might help you.  There must be other services similar to qik that can 'rebroadcast' video streams that you only send one stream to them and they let multiple users see it.  I would expect to pay something for this service, but you might find free, ad supported services.
Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

  • Camera Orientation issue in landscape mode application

    Hello Team,
I have developed one application and it is totally in landscape mode. I have one problem with opening camera in landscape mode. I have given only one orientation support "Landscape-Right" in .plist file . So that when i click Record button in my application at that time application crash and it gives me an error
'Supported orientations has no common orientation with the application, and shouldAutorotate is returning YES'
I have also read that iPhone support only Portrait mode for opening camera . In my application i have forcefully changed it to landscape using custom overlayview.
Anyone have any idea regardig this?

Please ignore, I have finally found the problem.
I was initializing the UIView in my ViewController with the CGRect defined when in Portrait (bounds). So when I turned the device to go into landscape it was still using a portrait frame.
    I'm now initializing the UIView with: CGRect appFrameLandscape = CGRectMake(0, 0, 480, 320);

  • Export resolution and camera resolution question

I am thinking of buying a new camera- specifically one that will film video in widescreen as well as widescreen photo's. I have been looking at some that have a maximum video resolution of 848x480, which will come out fine.
With iMovie, so far I have been using my wife's Casio camera which records video at 640x480 (4:3 ratio), and I have been cropping the video in iMovie and exporting as 640x360 widescreen. The next resolution up from 640x360 in iMovies export settings is 960x540.
My question is, if my new camera has a video res of 848x480, when I export that in iMovie, will it have to be down-scaled to 640x360, or will there be an option to export at the same resolution (I don't think it will let me upscale it to 960x540)?
    Thanks.

As long as you don't have "constrain" checked, it won't resample.

  • Video Orientation Question

I recorded a video using my iphone in one orientation (portrait style) but when I play it on my computer it plays sideways. Peoples heads point west and their feet point east. How can i get it to play normally on my computer? I now know that in the future I must always record lanscape style but I really want to use one of the videos I've already recorded. Is there any way to salvage it?

I venture to say your computer is a Windoze PC.
If so, which video viewing app are you using?
The video orientation is included with the video's EXIF data, which the Windows video viewer ignores - at least with photos so I assume the same with video.

  • Taking iPhone from PC to Mac - Camera Roll question!

OK, I have an iPhone 3GS that is sync'd with iTunes on my PC. I have created a new iTunes library on my new Mac and would like to transfer the phone to be synced with this. When I connect the iPhone to the Mac it asks if I would like to "Erase and Sync", which I'm happy to do, I agreed this and it then stated that the phone was registered to another iTunes account and would I be happy to change it to the account on this library (it must be the same iTunes account as I only have one.)
Now I don't mind anything being deleted or restarted, but the only thng I really REALLY dont want to lose is my Camera Roll. Can anyone explain what will happen to this if I go ahead an sync it all to the new Mac?

Set up iTunes on your new Mac. Log into your iTunes account (under the "store" menu).
GO TO THE PREFERENCES AND DISABLE AUTOMATIC SYNCING FOR IPOD'S AND IPHONES!!
While you're in there, select the option to "copy music to my iTunes Library" and "Keep iTunes Library Organized". (or whatever is called, I can't remember and since I'm copying files to mine right now, I can't check the menu)
Copy all your music, movies, apps, podcasts etc. over to the new iTunes on the Mac (you can copy everything to an external drive and then just drop it in the iTunes window where your "music" would normally be displayed. iTunes will copy it all to the proper locations in your new Mac.
Now when you plug in your iPhone it will show up in iTunes and you can right click, control click, double finger tap, whatever you decide to use on your iPhone's icon to access the contextual menu and select Backup. This will start the process of backing up your iPhone on your new computer. After you back it up, you should be able to sync without fear of losing all your texts and such. The only thing I don't know is if you can copy the Library files and such from the PC to the Mac so you can keep your playlists. I'm pretty sure it doesn't go the other way as I just tried to do it migrating my iTunes to a new Windows 7 install. If I remember correctly, iTunes may ask you some questions about adding the iPhone to that iTunes account but I know you will be able to back up before anything gets changed, I just bought a new MacBook Pro and had to go through it myself.
This exact same thing happens when you move from one Mac to another, as I just did, except I can copy my Library files and thus don't lose any playlists either.
    Good Luck

  • Router / Camera access question

I have some network cameras in my house, and have set them up to be viewed remotedly over the internet.  I have port forwarding in place and dyndns in place and everything's working fine.  My question is - is there some way to know when someone is connecting to one of my cameras?

I think there is no such option to view who is connected to your camera. The best way to keep your camera secured do not share the DynDNS link or the Internet IP Address with anyone.

  • Camera Playback question

Well, I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question and it is not strictly a FCP question to boot. I realize a lot of you are cutting edge HD types, but I'm still using a Sony TRV 900 camera. I know that even if you set it to shoot in 16:9, it's not true 16:9. But if one were to do this, how do you get it to play back without distortion on a regular 4:3 screen (i.e. with the black bars top and bottom instead of the compressed picture you get otherwise)? I can't find a menu setting to allow this. Thanks in advance.
    Steve

One of the easiest is to create a new sequence that is 4:3.
Then drag the completed 16:9 sequence INTO that one.
It should be fine on its own, but sometimes it still looks like squished 4:3. IF that's the case, click on the 16:9 sequence that's inside the timeline of the 4:3 and hit the ENTER key on your numeric keypad.
This will then load it into the viewer without opening up the 16:9 sequence again.
Once it's there, click on the MOTION tab and twirl down the DISTORT triangle.
At the bottom of that you'll see a setting for ASPECT... change that to 33 or -33. I always forget which.
    Then render.
    Good luck,

  • Camera rental question.

    Hi all,
If this is not the right place for this question, let me know....
I'm still trying to decide on which camera to buy; XL-H1 or HVX200P or XDCAM EX 1 HD. Until then, i thought i'd just rent two for an up coming dance show.
Has anyone heard of or had any experience with ZACUTO sales & rental (www.zacuto.com)?
They have some very nice rental/purchase/rent-to-own packages. It appears i can rent the XL-H1 or HVX200P but not the XDCAM EX 1 HD at this time.
Also, the dance show, obviously, will have dancers with a fair amount of motion. Assuming ZACUTO is a good place to rent, which camera should i use?

Although i understand the firestore is a portable camera mountable battery powered unit, At $1700 per 100gb firestore unit, i'd rather feed the XL-H1 tapes or record directly from either camera to my NLE.
There will be 5 dance shows throughout the day each lasting about 1.5 to 2 hours each. I'd have to bring an NLE or other computer to offload the firestore anyway - assuming i had enough time between shows.
I wonder if you can offload directly from the firestore to another higher capacity off-the-shelf firewire external drive ro use any firewire external drive directly with the HVX200.

  • Camera tape question

I looking at purchasing my first video camera and leaning towards a Canon HV20. My question is this: Will I be able to read any footage from miniDV tape into my computer? For example, a relative has a video camera that also uses miniDV tape, will I be able to import the footage to my Mac thru my camera, even if it was originally recorded on a different brand of camera? I hope this makes sense. Thanks!

Most likely, but without knowing that the other device is and exactly what it's shooting no one can say for sure.
