Camera problems with PureView 808

Ok, i saw a lot of people on the internet forums talking about the black picture problems, so i wanted to make a clear statement for the people in the developing center, and ask them to fix these issues asap, thus avoiding a serious humiliation...
So, the problem is most obvious when trying to make photos in bracketing(HDR) mode: at first i started experimenting with just normal settings, exposure compensation set at 0, ISO 50, bracketing mode: 3 images -2/+2. i shot a few pics indoors, and then in the open, when i started noticing the first two pictures have exactly the same exposure comp, and only the third one is actually with +2EV. OK, this problem you can sometimes (not always) solve by reseting the iso value back to auto, and then again back to the desired value(usually 50 or 100), BUT when you set the starting exposure compensation at something lower than 0 (i tried with -2 most of the times) it is inevitable getting first two pictures having the same exposure compensation, and sometimes even first two pictures being completely dark/black, and no, this is not supposed to happen with these settings, not even with -5 exp comp, and 50 ISO.
The next problem is similar to this one: when in creative mode, normal setting(still image), sometimes what you get when not putting ISO setting to AUTO is, again, completely dark pic, you dont even have to put ISO sensitivity to a high number (which is against logic: high ISO number would mean brighter image), as some people on the forums have said, but you can put it to 50 (the one I use the most) and again get the completely black picture. Resetting the ISO to auto and back to desired value again helps in this occation...
And the last conplainment from me for now(camerawise): SOMETIMES chaning the exposure compensation (in real time) on the slider (on touchscreen) doesnt actually do anything, viewfinder is showing the exact same picture on the display, and histogram is not showing any changes.
HOWEVER, there is an app i downloaded called CameraPro, which doesnt have any of these problems at all!!! It works perfectly well, but the problem is the user interface, there is no option for saving your own preset, as in original factory camera app on the PureView 808 (C1, C2, and C3 in creative mode), so it takes a lot of precious time making the best setting possible (avoiding the auto mode).
PLEASE NOKIA, or anyone competent enough give me solution for this(software update with bug fix)

Suggest you look here http://onlyfoolsandmobiles.com/  and Here http://pureviewclub.com/ both full of good advice , tips and tricks, the things you require are demonstrated on both sites, I am not a camera expert, but think some of the settings you are trying are causing the issues you have, do a little research, the 808 is capable of doing everything you want and more
If I have helped at all, a click on the White Star is always appreciated :

  • IPad camera -problems with still shot, very grainy images indoors or atnight

Hello, I have the ipad 2 and am experiencing problems with the still camera shots (using the built in rear camera). The images are very grainy to such an extent that th ipad camera images are unusable when taken indoors (under full light), in early evening (under partial light) or at night (under normal indoor night lighting). I can not see any camera settings so not sure if this is a camera problem with my ipad2 or a more general problem with ipad 2 camera images. Any suggestions welcome as It means my iPad2 camera is effectively unusable

The cameras on the iPad won't produce the quality of photo that you'd get from a compact digital camera, and when the light isn't good there will be a noticeable graining. The cameras on the iPad are mainly for things such as FaceTime or for use in good light conditions - otherwise you'll get better results with a digital compact, or even something like an iPhone 4.

  • Flip Video camera & problems with iMovie 08

If you are having problems with iMovie and Flip Video, here is the Flip Video email response on 27 May 2008:
    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
We are not authorized to support third party applications, which is why we do not provide specific instructions regarding iMovie or any other third party application. We only support the Flip and the Flip program, while offering suggestions regarding other programs.
The Apple website also offers Perian as a workaround regarding audio on the Tiger operating system with the latest QuickTime. The latest QuickTime upgrade didn’t allow for audio playback of AVI files, which is why Perian is now offered as a work around by us and by Apple.
It seems as though you are able to playback your videos, as well as use them in outside applications. If this is not the case, and you are having issues using your Flip video or your Flip video program, feel free to contact us further.

This is my email to Flip Video on 26 May 2008:
My MAC Updater downloaded the new QT 7.4.5 on 5 Apr 2008. I have been making movies in iMovie, and then posting them to YouTube. In the beginning I uploaded the movies as MOV files but soon discovered AVI files (larger file and longer time to upload) had more clarity when viewed on YouTube. Once the new QT 7.4.5 downloaded all my AVI files had picture, but no sound! I downloaded the Perian component as posted in QT discussions. The sound returned to the AVI files. However, when I Exported an AVI movie from iMovie the picture quality was worse than the MOV movie. There is something wrong with the new QT 7.4.5 when working with AVI, my AVI movies look terrible. These AVI files were all downloaded from my Ultra Flip Video camera with Flip’s codec 3vix. Flip is aware of this problem and acknowledged it last Friday. Flip says Apple is aware of the problem.
My MAC PowerPc G4 has performed well in the past two months when working with the Flip Video camera. So, at Flip Video’s suggestion I upgraded the operating system to OS 10.5 from OS 10.4.11. Flip Video says their camera works with OS 10.5. Once OS 10.5 was uploaded I soon discovered that iMovie 08 would not operate on my PowerPc G4, 1.86 MHz. The speed requirement for iMovie 08 is 1.9 GHz.
At this point of “spinning my wheels for nearly a month” with this Flip Video camera, I decided to purchase a new iMac. On May 2, 2008, I walked out of the Apple Store in Walnut Creek with the new iMac 20-inch: 2.66GHz. Now the Flip video camera should work and all my video problems solved. However, this was not to be.
When I attempted to Import Flip Video AVI and MOV files into iMovie 08 the files were “grayed out” and would not Import. None of my previous Flip Video files would Import. I tried making new Flip Video movies, they also would not Import into iMovie 08.
At another Apple Store, the tech suggested I download the previous version of iMovie HD. I did this and with hours of working through the different Export options I was able to create movies to post again on youTube. However, the picture quality of the newer iMovies has never approached the quality of my last post before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. Remember my problems started with QT 7.4.5. Well, my new iMac came with QT 7.4.1, I have not Uploaded QT 7.4.5 and won’t until Flip Video fixes this problem.
Examples of my Flip Video movies can be viewed on youTube at: sffoggydays. The last video with excellent picture quality was posted 6 Apr 2008 titled “A Day at the San Francisco Zoo, Chapter Nine, L-Taravel Ride to BART.” This video was made in iMovie and Exported before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. All the youTube Flip Videos made after 6 Apr 2008 have poor picture quality.
It is time for Flip Video camera to stop “passing the buck” to Apple. When manufactures of operating system such as Apple and Microsoft create newer and upgraded systems, it is the responsibility of the manufactures of applications to redo their programs for operating on the new systems. Here is where Flip Video is not accepting this responsibility to Mac users of their camera. The Flip Video application/codex/drivers need to be updated in order to fix the following problems:
    - No sound on AVI files in QT 7.4.5
    - No Import of AVI and MOV files in iMovie 08
    - Poor picture quality for youTube in Export of iMovie HD
I like my Flip Video camera, want to continue making movies for youTube, and recommending the camera to others. The Flip Video camera people need to fix these problems for Mac users.

    Hi!
    I agree 100%!
I also purchased the Flip Video - was thrilled to see that they worked with Apple computers. I made several movies with it when I had my PowerBook G4. I went on a great vacation & took several once in a lifetime videos. Got home & couldn't wait to put them in my iMoive -06, burn them on my iDVD and sent them to several family members & friends. Before I got the chance, I had my system updater tell me that there was a new version to QT. GREAT, I thought, just in time for my vacation videos. Like you, after the QuickTime upgrade, I got video, but no sound. I was SICK about it! I also wrote to the Flip people & got a response somewhat like yours. I left the videos on my Flip which left no room for any others, but I didn't want to take the chance of losing them. After reading from Flip that it would work with OS 10.5 system, I talked myself into getting a new MacBook Pro. Came with all the upgrades iLife -08 and the OS 10.5.2 OK...finally, after months of stressing over losing the vacation videos, I had all I needed to save them! Of course the $2,000.00 price tag hurt a bit, but I deserve a new computer.
Well...I STILL can't get my priceless vacation videos edited and burned! I tried downloading 2 different programs that were supposed to help convert my Flip movies to something that would work, but they haven't. I could get it to work on my desktop with QT, but what good is that?? I want to make DVD's to send to others & save for my grandkids (if I ever am lucky enough to get some!)
I'm TOTALLY disgusted & feel I've wasted my money on the Flip Camera (that at one time I loved & was seriously considering giving them as gifts) the $2,000.00 on a new computer (that even though I do deserve, didn't REALLY need one yet!) AND I still have vacation videos that I can't share!
So... I agree! Flip should honor their word that is printed on the box & MAKE it work with all Apple computers. Surely they can find a fix!
TOTALLY disgusted with the whole FLIP/APPLE mess!
Oh, Flip also said they 'heard' that QuickTime Pro would work with iMovie -08 - although they haven't actually tested it themselves. NO THANKS!!! I've got WAY too much money invested in this stupid Flip camera!

Flip video ( I just bought one) makes AVI files (AVI is a container like QT is one) using 3ivX. All you need is the free Perian codec and you can playback, edit etc. Export the to a MOV container which doesn't reencode them and you should have usable files.
They have a valid point - they supply software and they have no obligation to make their camera work in iMovie. Reviews I have read say it works OK in IM6 vs. the iLife 08 version. Note that QT doesn't work natively with DivX, WMV and you don't see Apple saying they are obligated to fix Quicktime. They like their codecs and they don't care about others any more than Flip does.
You can always open in MPEG Streamclip and export them to a non lossy codec like Animation and use those new QT files as well. Or DV as another format option.

  • Serious camera problems with the Lumia 800

Hello everyone, I just want to share my experience with you.
I've been using an unlocked Lumia 800 for a week now and I actually like the phone, however these camera problems are just unacceptable.
The camera has SERIOUS white balance problems, and, for me the most important, the auto-focus is just ridiculous. It works bad, but focusing on "macro" objects is just a no go, even usin the touch focus or the "macro" focus mode. Another problem is the lens flare, which reflects how bad these optics might be. You really think that the Carl Zeiss branded optics anything here? Think again. My HTC Incredible S, with its "OEM" optics, (or the Iphone 4S or the SII) just humiliates this camera. Also, is that so hard to make a green square focus confirmarion?
How can they release a flagship device, with this price range, with these problems? No wonder why Nokia is where it is standing now, "almost" in a closing-doors status. They really need better engineers and programmers because everytime they let this happen with a device, they're tossing away their valuable customers. And they really deserve it.
And as I've been reading, the Lumia 900 is having the same problems... How sad is this?
    Regards,
    RR
    Moderator's note; removed personal remarks

No, the camera is not that bad, it is actually decent in lowlight conditions @ISO100 (it automatically raises a bit, but it avoids the 800, unlike the auto-mode), with a good balance between noise and detail. However, In my opinion, that's the whole purpose in camera phones - point and shoot. If I could only take good photos if I find the perfect combination of settings for each situation, the versatility of camera phones would be zero. And of course, if I want "perfect" photos, I'll use my DSLR, but that's not an excuse for this camera, which performs worse that my previous E72.
And understand light and ff course this camera can take amazing photos, as those in flickr, but all cameras can do that. Some do need lots of effort and tries, some not. Even my old Sony Ericsson C902, which was **bleep**, could sometimes take some nice pics.
I'm not complaining about the full set of caracteristics, but about the details that ruin the whole.
    - Lack of self-time;
    - Metering is also inaccurate. Lots of clipped highlights;
    - White balance is a mess with flash and indoors (incandescent or fluorescent lights);
    - Lateral lens flare, which is bad and I'll upload an example soon.
    - I believe the whole auto-focus is a bit inaccurate, but I can only really notice it in macro captures. This really incapacitates me of taking detailed document photos, which I usually do.
Overall, I'm really enjoying the phone experience, but the camera fails to impress mainly due to the lack of effort by the Nokia Developers to tweak the camera driver properly, which is pitiful.
Here's an example of a screen capture, at 15cm (any other phones I know can sharp-focus at this distance): notice the off-focus/blurred center, the whole image soft-focus, and those stained areas. Weird!

  • Camera problems with iOS 7.1.1 upgrade

Dear Apple, I had reservations about upgrading to iOS 7.1.1 and I held off for soooo long but when apps and videos were no longer supported on my previous platform I felt like I was being pushed to upgrade which I did 2 weeks ago.
I have been since fixing one thing after another only to find when taking a photo this morning of a beautiful sunrise I have a problem with my Camera. Why oh why is this still happening so long after this upgrade has been released I am sooooooo angry.
When I went onto Apple Support you tell me it is out of warranty and you want me to pay a service fee how dare you. I have loved and promoted your products to anyone her ever mentions wanting to buy a tablet. There is nothing wrong with my IPad 2 prior to upgrading and I should not have to buy another when it was your upgrade that has broken it. I use the camera for my business uploading photos and need it, why have you not rectified this Or is it you can't.  If an Apple employee is reading this please tell me how to rectify this I have been trawling through the discussions here and have reset, reset, reset but it is still stuck trying to get it to go backwards. I am soooooo not happy please heeeeeelp.

Thank you King_Penguin I went to the Apple shop last night and they did a restore but no luck , they looked at the camera and don't believe it is hardware they think that the 7.1.1 has superseded the IPad 2 model and while don't take responsibly offered me a replacement device for $309.00 as it is out of warranty. I think it is sad and environmentally irresponsible to have an IPad that is just over two years old and is considered obsolete. I love the Apple product and promote it big time but this has tarnished my perception of the product. Based on the math it costs $500.00 a year to use the product plus data costs makes it an expensive item. i might buy a laptop next time. Thanks for all you help though.   Sharon

I have an iPhone 5 with some camera problems, have two or more black dots, looks like plastic particules and in some cases the camera freezes with half screen in purple, i am from Argentina and here there is no iphone service, how i can do a warranty?

Did you try to contact your carrier or provider you bought the device from?
If you bought the phone in another country than Argentina, you'll have to contact the Store where you bought it.
The warranty is only valid in the country where it has been bought.

  • Camera problem with OMNI 10 Tablet

    Hello,
I have purchased OMNI 10 tablet last week. This  tablet takes very bad indoor pictures. First day when I took pictures in my sitting room, lit with four feet tube lghts, the pictures were very hazzy with lot of snow. I talked with the seller and he agreed to replace it and called me at the show room. When he checked at the show room, it was working all right. He satisfied me and I came back with the same Tab again. But when I checked it at home the problem was same. Than  I took pictures outside in daylight and found its taking good pictures. I concluded that this is not taking good pictrures inside with tublihts on. I don't know the reason but somewhat disappionted that I  cannot use my tab to take pictures inside my home. Is there any remedy for this or I have to bear with this problem. I have other tabs and cameras which take perfectily good pictrues in the same light inside.
    Thanks
    Vinay Saxena

    Hello, vinayggn.
I have been impressed by the quality of pictiures/video produced by my own Omni in low light conditions — far less than what I would expect from the amount of  light given-off by multiple fluorescent lights. Since the Omni's 2 cameras are adaptable to many uses, there may be changes to the settings which produce better results in the conditions you've described. HP provides documentation on the Omni hard drive which explains how to use your tablet's important features Also, try to re-position the Omni so that no portion of the bright "tubes" or any other bright light source appear in the pictures you're taking & remove the tablet from any sleeve while your'e experimenting. Also, taking pictures in different indoor rooms & settings will help you to learn more about how your tablet is responding to various lighting conditions. If there is enough light to comfortably read a book, you should be able to take acceptable quality pictures. The "snow" you mentioned in your most-recent reply to banhien, may be caused by a nearby source of electical interference. I would expect this would be apparent if you get some acceptable pictures taken under approximately the same amount of light, when taken in other locations...
Please report back with any additional questions, or better yet — your success story!
    Good luck!

  • New camera, problems with capture setting

    Hi-
I just got a new Canon Vixia HD30. I'm using FCP 5.1.3, and I can't find the correct settings for capture. I've tried a variety of mix and match between the camera settings (HDV, HDV30, HDV24, etc.) and the available settings on FCP (HDV, HDV 1080i60, etc.) but I'm not getting full functionality. It is recognizing the camera when I go to Log and Capture and I can capture clips when the FCP setting is HDV, but there are two problems:
    1. (most significant) The captured clips need rendering when I put them in the timeline.
    2. The captured clips, when opened as clips, are not synched with the audio. (I've had this issue before with a previous camera, many years ago, but can't seem to solve it this time.)
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Zack

    Dear Zach,
Did you ever solve this problem? I've run into the same issues: having to render clips captured from a new Canon Vixia HV30 when I put them in my timeline. A considerable waste of time. I just wonder if you ever figured it out.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Camera Problems with iOS4

    Hi All
Has anyone experienced the problem of their camera on the 3GS now having a 'pink' haze on all pictures / videos that are taken?
Even appears on the preview and on the photo
Look forward to hearing from anyone else with similar issue.
    QubixTech

    Hi Paulo,
I'm suspecting that Apple doesn't regard this as a bug.
My personal thoughts that it is a silly feature to reset the file count each time you empty the camera roll, or better yet it could have a feature you could turn on/off in the settings like many cameras allow you to do.
If you want them to address it, send a feedback email to them here
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
I suspect that what has happened, is the developers have designed the iOS4 software around iPhoto and not anything else.
iPhoto creates Events based on the digitised time of the file, that is, the time you took the photo. So it effectively creates a sub folder called an Event and puts the photos there. When you download the photos from the iPhone straight into iPhoto and there were multiple days over which the photos were taken, it creates multiple Events. So in saying that, it doesn't really care what the file is called and if there are a thousand IMG_001 files in iPhoto in a thousand different Events, iPhoto and your computer had no trouble in finding them all.
You are like me and use Image Capture to import the photos rather than iPhoto.
My work around is to select the photos by each day in Image Capture and download them to a folder that includes the date they were taken (eg 100925 BBQ at the Beach (I add the date at the start so when I am searching thru finder, the folders are listed in the order I took them)) and have them deleted when imported automatically from the iPhone.
It not great, but it works for me and even though I may end up with a thousand IMG_001 files, they don't all end up in the same folder, left for me to work out which ones they are.
    Hope this helps

  • Camera Problem with Curve 8330

Hi - I have a Curve 8330 and the camera has recently started acting strange. When I look at the screen to take a picture, the image is "posterized" (ie, it looks like an Andy Warhol poster, with strange colors).
I can find no setting to fix this...I have also tried both a hard and soft reboot, with no luck.
When I take a picture while looking at the "posterized" screen image, it does not save it, even though I have plenty of file space left.
    Help! :-)

I am having the same issue as well (and done the same things), and have not been able to find anything either.  I am not sure if this is now a hardware issue and not a software issue.

  • New camera problems with cs6

I have upgraded from a Canon 60D to a full frame 6D When I am in LR and want to bounce over to CS6 using my lightroom adjustments I click the EDIT IN option from the drop down menu in LR and choose CS6... ps will load but the work area is blank. Now if I use a image from my files that came from my 60 D this dosent happen at all.The 60D images load right into PS to be further edited. This makes no sense to me and I hope it makes sense to someone else.

What version of camera raw do you have for PS?  You should have at least 7.3 for the 6D.
